    Yay! It’s already Thurs morning again! This cake is a close 2nd to my favorite cake, the white (or wedding) cake. This recipe looks perfect! It’s going to be moist w/a tender crumb & a nice butter flavor. Paired w/this simple, easy, yet delicious frosting, this cake is exactly what I crave when I’m craving cake. It’s also such a versatile base cake for more adventurous bakers. I’m gonna make this recipe instead of the old faithful box yellow cake for the next family celebration! Thanks for the recipe & inspiration. Wishing you a lovely upcoming weekend!

    A brilliant sheet cake video. Thank you. I have a new found love for baking these days and have attempted a few cakes. The issue I often run into is the sponge sticking to the tray, despite brushing it with butter or a non-stick spray. Could my trays be the issue? I’m unsure as to whether they’re non-stick or not but would it matter if I’m greasing it? I haven’t however, tried parchment paper, so I’ll try that next time and see how it goes.

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use convection. Whether you reduce the temperature 25 F or 15 C depends on your oven. Some do some don’t. Check your manual.

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can calculate the area of each pan (length x width) then divide the bigger pan over the smaller pan to get the ratio. Multiply the ratio times each ingredient in grams.

    I grew up on homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and we have it enough that we only use cream cheese frosting for that, or pumpkin bars. But we’d use a regular white frosting for this. Also, I never put butter in my cream cheese frosting, and it tastes better to me without it. So if anyone tries this, try your frosting without the butter too, because if it tastes better to you, that saves a ton of calories..lol Great cake recipe! 🤗

    • @danielbeck2414
      @danielbeck2414 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you make you cream cheese frosting, do you follow Stephanie's recipe leaving the butter out? Is there a recipe? I'm a little intrigued by your suggestion.

    • @RainyJo715
      @RainyJo715 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Beck ..Yes, it’s 1 lb of powdered sugar, and 8 oz of cream cheese softened. I just do a capful of good vanilla, and mix well with a mixer. It comes out perfectly each time! :) I always refrigerate cream cheese baked goods, and this sets up in the fridge so you can cut into and even stack them if you need to. It’s firm, but not hard. I hope you’ll try it, because I don’t put butter in my peanut butter frosting either. I don’t like eating that much butter. My grandmother never did either, and we all love these recipes. Take care! 🌷🤗🦋

    Hi Stephanie Could you check over your conversions from cups to grams as they are all over the place.

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The conversion from cups to grams is different for every ingredient due different densities. 1 cup of flour will weigh a different amount in grams than 1 cup of flour just like 1 cup of feathers will weigh much less in grams than 1 cup of rocks. That’s why the conversions are correct and all over the place. Also all of my recipes are developed in grams and converted to cups so there is no error as far as you would be concerned due to how you fill the cup.

    Hi Stephanie, have you thought of doing a cookery book? Just had the idea pop into my head!!!!

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      There are only so many hours in the day and currently videos take up all my time so I'd have to cut back on the videos if I did a book. I also believe that videos are a far more powerful medium than books because you can't see the technique very well in a book. You know the saying a picture is worth a thousand words, well I believe a video is worth a thousand pictures.

      I haven’t tried substituting oil in this recipe so I couldn’t say how well it would work.

      That should work, but I would leave out the baking powder and salt in the recipe.

    Hi I need your help. My oven can accommodate only cake tin at a time. Is it ok if I bake the cake in two tins one at a time ?

      It's made by Kuhn Rikon. I don't think they make the exact one I have anymore in that color but here is a link on Amazon to another color that's close: amzn.to/2LXsAyD

    Stephanie, in this cake demonstration did you use full fat milk or 2% milk? The recipe states , 1 cup (240 ml) room temperature milk (full fat or 2% reduced fat), that you may use either, but I was curious what did you use during this demonstration? Also, does the milk make a difference in the texture of the cake, springy, spongy, more dense? Thank you for this video as it’s a beautiful cake and looks so tasty.

      I actually used full fat because that's what I had in the house. Full fat will give a richer flavor compared to 2%.
