#GuardiansOfTheGalaxy #EasterEggs #breakdown
In addition to talking about the easter eggs and MCU connections, I’m going to go into a little bit of detail about what we think this movie is going to lead to in the multiverse saga, and we’re going to touch on the larger themes of the movie and the trilogy. We’re also going to be exploring this movie in future videos so subscribe and ring the bell so you don't miss a thing.
Doug: you don’t want to miss a thing…
First of all, the marvel studios intro is filled entirely with images of the guardians of the galaxy, because this is the last one of these films, in this form. James Gunn has written or co-written and directed every movie in this trilogy, and the Guardians are very personal to him.IN fact, when he completed the script for volume t3, he tweeted this image which read, “every bit of my heart.”
And now we understand why. This movie was gut-wrenching, action packed, and one of the greatest MCU movies ever. If you disagree, let me know in the comments. It’s also Gunn’s last movie for Marvel studios. I’m not going to get into the back and forth, but he’s the new co-president of DC Studios, making a fresh take on the DC cinematic universe.
So that’s why these credits are the beginning of this farewell to this interaction of the guardians. The intros always begin with comics then show screenplays, and in this one the first line we read it “showtime, a-holes], from here [clip], but it’s also Gunn, telling the audience [showtime a-holes].
So, we start with the origin of Rocket, which continues to work as narrative interludes throughout the movie. The Rocket flashbacks are not only filling in his tragic backstory, but they also work as counterpoints to what's happening in the present. Usually when something good happens in the flashbacks, something bad happens in the present, and vice versa.
It’s a pretty common screenwriting technique that each scene should begin with the characters up or down, and end in the opposite way. Like a roller coaster, so it starts exciting. It’s very clever that Gunnused the Rocket flashbacks to pull the audience on this emotional roller coaster.
All the other Racoons shy away from the hand reaching into their cage, but Rocket is the only one who is curious about this hand. This is important for a few reasons. One, it shows Rocket’s innate curiosity and intelligence-you could even say this is showing his consciousness. The high evolutionary spends the whole movie trying to discover what makes Rocket special. And here I think it’s implied that, since he was a kit, he had a spark of consciousness, or a soul.
When the hand rechies in, for a moment, it's framed like the panel of the sistine chapel where god grants life to adam. But, as Westworld season 1 pointed out to me, that image cleverly hid god inside of the human brain. Implying that the true gift of consciousness came from within-our own minds.
That image of god and Adam comes into play later on, which is also important for a huge, future story of the MCU.
So right at the beginning, we have this idea that Rocket has a soul. The opening song is Creep by Radiohead, featuring lyrics like, “I want a perfect body, I want perfect soul'.'' It's easy to see where these apply to Rockets, and really the rest of the guardians. They’re all broken, some of them have mangled flesh, like pocket, nebula, and gamora, but most just have tangled souls-like-well, everyone but swole groot.
The chori=us of creeps goes, “but I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here, I don't belong here.” which is how the guardians all feel inside, all the time. Like they’re broken people who don't deserve the love of others. Perfect opening song .

Hi
19:40 is a trip
@@beepboop204ryanarey is AI confirmed
Dick Grayson actually did become Batman and has been his own 'Batman' as Nightwing.
Anyone else grasp the fact that when the high evolutionary first reaches for Rocket, the lighting makes it look like the disembodied hand of God, chosen Rocket and given him divine purpose (The High Evolutionary looks at himself as a god, he even says “THERE IS NO GOD, THAT’S WHY I HAD TO STEPPED IN”, which obviously turned out to not be the case…but at the end Peter and Adam recreate the painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, with Adam who compared to many others, could be considered a god with his extraordinary powers, reaching to touch a mortal man. Another way, and I think more appropriate…Adam, who represents Adam, trying to touch God who is represented by Peter, (formerly) a god
The care nebula had for rocket is awesome I love how her character really changed.
nebula has the best arc of marvel
@@YeOlGamer same
Nebula stole the show this movie.
Especially the part Nebula blubbers when she finds out that Rocket is alive and well, showed how she really has changed!
It was cool to see that their relationship grew a ton in the five years where they were the only surviving Guardians.
I like how quill kept foreshadowing gamora pulling off high evolutionary’s face by saying it’s not a trap it’s a face off
Quill might’ve kept foreshadowing gamora, but I kept my glamorous foreskin
Yes I agree. 😂 😂
FACE OFF.
All the way off.
😮 nice catch! I feel stupid for missing that.
Breaking bad reference
Nebula's space suit was also green whereas Gamora was wearing blue symbolizing that their roles had reversed relative to the Guardians, more or less.
Nice eye
Oh this is a great catch! You’re absolutely right as Gamora in this movie was much more like Nebula. Seeing Nebula smiling and laughing at the end scene brought so much joy knowing how angry and jaded she was in the earlier movies.

In the final battle when Kraglin is finally able to use the arrow, it first takes aim at him. When he playfully tips it away, this represents Kraglin overcoming battling himself.
Use your heart boy
Indeed. Kragiln was also Yondu’s son just as much as Quill was.
When I saw the Yondu cameo I knew then and there he was gonna cook
@@dominiquejones3805😭😭 it still makes me sob
I really liked how Rocket's intelligence massively bruised the ego of the High Evolutionary. His jealousy over this showed himself that he is imperfect and motivated him to destroy Rocket and study his brain instead of using Rocket as a partner. He can't believe a creature is smarter than he is.
If you ever played Soul Reaver/Legacy of Kain, this is jussssst like Kain and Raziel, when Kain was jealous that Raziel, a vampire he created evolved wings before him.
Also Rockets really fuckin smart 😂
@@hightolerance8728 now i feel kinda robbed that we didn't get Rocket and Tony saying genius stuff to each other like assholes
@@aguru19 they kinda did in endgame rocket tells tony he's only a genius on earth
I've not seen the film but I have seen the escape clip.
Could that have been a secret test of Independent thinking and a willingness to break the rules to help others?
Once the High Evolutionary "found" that in Rocket he wouldn't need the others, only Rockets brain.
I loved how rocket saw the tag on the cage that said raccoon. Over the years he had been told he was a raccoon but he had to see it for himself at his origin. Very nicely done ❤
He knew he was a raccoon, but he couldn't accept it because he was too traumatized from his past.
Rocket returning to the High Revolutionary to confront him & free his fellow raccoons, including th remaining animals was Rocket taking control of his life & accepting his past.
@@atlien1988 Yeah exactly. He associated being a raccoon with what Herbert did to him. Once he's there, he realizes being a raccoon is actually what Herbert took from him.
The lyla scenes. All of them. Tear jerking. The afterlife scene broke me 😢
same
All facts. She reminded me of Deadpool girlfriend telling him not yet
It hit hard
I'm pretty sure I have seen afterlife scene in another movie
Rocket crying broke my heart.
When Nebula said "I need you here, you born to be a Dad" My heart felt like Drax finally had a closure with all this kids with them. He is now going to have that opportunity of seen his daughter in this kids. I was so happy for him!
The scene where Lila is *spoilered* and Rocket lets out this godawful howl of utter despair, rage, and grief.. Bradley Cooper deserves a medal just for that scream goddam it was upsetting
If I remember well, it was actually Sean Gunn voicing young Rocket in his flashbacks.
The audacity of High Evolutionary to mock him screaming, at least Rocket got to scratch his face off
@@jjstarrprod nah he did the younger rocket but as rocket got older, Bradley Cooper voiced him but that scene broke me too, I came out of the movies crying my eyes out, think my hubby even shed a tear or two too!
@@bradbradthebrad it really was a face off
@screencrush I loved the extremely subtle repeated gag that Mantis can't land properly. She floats awkwardly and repeatedly lands on her neck or in a twisted position throughout the film 🤣
I noticed that too. So funny. She’s one of my favorite characters.
I didn't catch that bit from Groot and the non reaction from the guardians. You're absolutely right. James Gunn was trying to convey that we were part of the group now and we could understand Groot.
This was a great Marvel movie. I loved how Rocket, after discovering his true species at the end, finally accepts his full name and says “I’m Rocket Raccoon”!
Drax once told Peter that there were two types of beings. Those who dance and those that don’t. Drax said he wasn’t a dancer, but he danced at the end of this movie. I cried.
Yeah that seemed to hit me harder than anyone else but n the cinema 😂
I realised when Drax cheered up his Jub Jub kids that he said what he was about to do used to cheer up his kid.
Drax stop dancing not because he doesn’t want, but because that’s something he used to do for his kid and it probably hurts too much for him to dance without her
@@Kagiso22 I don’t think Drax stopped dancing, I don’t think he ever danced. He said when first saw his wife, she didn’t even tap her foot and he found it very attractive. Drax dancing fits in with the theme of the phase, that people can change.
Drax also says in the beginning of the movie, "Only stupid people dance." The final dance scene was well after the conversation that he, Nebula, and Mantis have about him being "stupid". He's not, of course, but I think he accepts that in the end, because his friends thought him to be "stupid" and still cared for him. It was no longer an insult once he owned it within himself.
There was so much n the ending. I really feel they had fun making this movie
I'm so glad that you mentioned us understanding Groot in the end because I immediately thought that all true fans of the Guardians would get that he still said "I am Groot" It's just that we can now understand him, and I felt that he was saying "I love you" to all of us.
Yeah but he should've thrown the word Family in there 😂
@@Ryzza5😂
Theory: Once you have stablish a connection with Groot, you can feel his thoughts, thus understanding what he meant to say without him saying it. So verbally he is producing the sound of "I am Groot", but your brain can understand what he meant, but only after you have made a connection with him. That is why Peter couldn't understand him before they were friends and why Gamora also couldn't at the beginning of the movie, but does so at the end.
The audience after 3 movies also has this connection to him, thus we can now finally understand what he says.
this kinda clashes with Thor having learnt Groot in Asgard. kinda
@@rxlfe7177 nah he has All father’s-tongue or whatever it allows him to speak whatever language he needs. Plot device similar to Star fire’s lol less kissing though
That’s so sweet 😢
I rewatched that little bit of the video a few times, definitely mouthing I am Groot
stoppp that’s so cute, i’m so sad this is supposed to be the last GOTG with the guardians we know 😭
The "hallway fight" was friggin' outstanding. Among the greatest close-quarters battles in MCU history.
My favorite character was Mantis in this movie, she finally shines and I'm glad they finally showed that she can fight cause in the comics she's bad ass.
She's actually a threat too if you think about it
They showed she could fight in other projects, but she was more in the background.
They showed this in the video game as well and as soon as she appeared in a fight scene it made me excited and hopeful to see her shine like she did in this movie
Mantis was getting off n the fight scenes. I don't think her leaving fit her character tho
If you haven't seen the Christmas special yet, it shows some more of her skills too
One part that had me choked up was when Nebula is told that Rocket is ok and she almost breaks down
That hit me hard as well. Loved this movie
I liked that Rocket and Lylla were platonic in this. I think good purely platonic friendships between a girl and a guy are sorely underepresented in media these days, one of them always falls for the other and I think that its dumb that no one is just comfortable in the friendzone. I love that Lylla and Rocket seemed like friends/family instead of romantic. There are so many other dynamics than just romance, and I'm so pleased every time something different happens.
Agree it doesn’t have to be sexual or anything and they made it perfect !
Yup yup
they do the animal equivalent of a kiss in the purgatory scene so I think it's assumed that their feelings for each other are more than platonic, especially his response to her death compared to the ones of his other friends.
@@blazinskull9451 yeah most definitely the feelings were mutual, if she wasn't killed they definitely would of been a couple. I do admire the innocent connection they shared though for the short time on screen.
Didn't they kiss though?
I really cried a lot watching the movie. It was one of my favorite marvel films honestly. Such a good well rounded film.
I cried when Rocket got upset about Lylla's death. That was just sick and twisted.
Probably the most heart-wrenching scene I've watched in some time...
I don't think it was sick and twisted at all. He just showed grief like anyone would
I really wish you would have spoke about “Dog Days Are Over” as the ending song. It was SO POWERFUL. That was the best song. Also that Rocket chose the 2000s for his music while Peter used the 80s. It’s such a unique juxtaposition and really is a great nod to the new Guardians, lead by Rocket.
Yes yes yes! I was surprised he breezed over it, maybe he just doesn’t vibe with it as much as the earlier music?
He vibes with the grittier, grungier, more emotionally raw edge of Radiohead and Florence
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve always loved Florence and the Machine, and Dog Days hits really fuckin hard in this movie. I bawled like a baby at the ending. Powerful stuff indeed
@@tmalecki1521 same! I cried to hard at that part. It really was one of the most - and dare I say, they MOST tear jerking moment!!
I thought the line "everyone deserves a second chance" was inspired by how all the actors were unified in helping James Gunn be brought back to make the third film. This was a tribute to them.
Right on
And they all got their second chance too. Going from criminal, to hero. Adam fits right in.
My man, everyone deserves a second chance.
Everyone :)
All of the characters have finally come to a full circle. Peter who was abducted from his home in the starting is back to his Earth family. Rocket who put money before everything went back for the animals. Drax who wanted revenge for his daughters is now happy and content with new children, as a dad. Mantis who was controlled by Ego in the start is now free and alone. Groot's "I love you guys" moment just shows how much he has changed for us audience.
I wondered if when Gamora called the ravagers to pick her up and instead Ayesha answers, Gamora didnt recognize this because she never encountered the Sovereign in her timeline.
Loved the breakdown as usual!
She didn’t she just ask for extraction
I legit cried when Peter wailed thinking Rocket was gone.
I also loved that now, us the fans, "WE ARE GROOT"! I hope if you watch his mouth when he speaks at the end he really looks to be saying "I am Groot" and his words are ADR'd over it. I will definitely be looking for this when I get to rewatch it!
The script based over the gamora from a past timeline is really well done, it really shows the struggle that star lord has to go through since he lost someone that's still there, truly heartbreaking and hope they give him his own thor training arc
It would had been better if she remained dead.
Also the fact that the crew kept telling her how awesome the Gamora they had was which in a sense definitely hurt to hear, it’s like knowing an alternative version of u in another universe is a wealthy billionaire
I love the fact that she’s her own character and didn’t end up falling for Starlord. While I get stuff like that happens in the comics the idea of every death being undone by a multiversal variant would ruin things
It made me think about how it is when a loved one has dementia. They are there but eventually for lots of Alzheimer’s patients, they don’t know you anymore.
"I bet we were fun." 🥲
The scene where Rocket came back and said “everyone is ok” really hit me in the feels 😭
Nebula gasping hit me hard
That was my favorite scene
I sat in my seat in the theater for the entire movie. Now that is rare for me because I’m claustrophobic and I usually have to get up once or twice for a few minutes to walk around and come back to my seat. But this time I was so captivated with the movie I didn’t move a muscle and I enjoyed the movie thoroughly. This is a great movie.
I was not emotionally ready for this movie, lol. I went from tears to laughter, absolutely loved it!
I think rocket howled at the end of the movie because he did it with lylla ,Floor ,and teefs too, honoring ,and remembered them like that😊❤.
I also noticed that Mantis used his ability to amplify Cosmo's powers to hold The High Evolutionary's ship while the creatures escape.
She buffed cosmo. And refilled her strength cause she was about to pass out. ❤
I think characters learn to understand Groot when they become family/friends - eg Gamora in this movie goes from having no idea what he’s saying to looking surprised and pleased at the end when she can understand him. This signals that we as an audience have become friends/family and can finally understand Groot
We just going to ignore the fact "Floor" totally foresaw more pain... Rocket, teeths, floor, gonow.
Her panicked voice was a huge part for me personally. the emotion and crippling panic while she said Rocket, Teefs, floor,go now!
She did 😭😭, as a bunny parent, I cried so much watching floor and when she said teefs, floor, go now!! it broke me
I felt sorry for Adam warlock. His mother figured was killed ,object of his revenge was dispatched by someone else ,he couldn't finish his mother figured last task to him ,and people whom he hurt forgave him ,and took him in. He is bound to have all kinds of emotional baggage.
and he does. in the comic that man was an absolute mess emotionally.
"His people' think about him like idiot. Guardians will just accept him and troll him like one of them own bro :D
I really loved Adam..an innocent child not knowing his power. He'll grow into it as a Guardian. Waiting for more if Adam
To quote Harley Quinn from Birds of Prey: "Vengeance rarely delivers the catharsis we need."
Adam Warlock didn't need revenge, he just needed a purpose.
I remember in an Animated show.... Adam Warlock rapidly ages. Was that right? Did I miss something
Its definitely a masterpiece to the trilogy. I would say probably the best marvel movie to date. I believe james gun truly understands the characters, their story, feelings. Like mantis, Gunn is an empath connecting us to these characters.
Best MCU Movie since end game and it isn’t even close. No cameo or gimmicks, just heart and soul😢

Man I loved this movie, loved the dark tone, the focus on rockets story.
Love that Peter's stubbornness caused half of the universe to die ,but also brought rocket back.
Just think, Peter caused half of the universe to get dusted for a girl that wasn’t even willing to fall in love with him all over again. 🤯
At least his stubbornness saved all of those kids and animals at the end as well. 👧🏼👦🏼🦘🐒🐻❄️
Priorities
Without Peter doing what he did....they ALL would've died. It was the only timeline it worked out.
@@TheFilmmakersTimeChamber Yeah, that’s utter bullshit. The directors just wanted to raise the stakes, so they said there was only one outcome out of millions where they won.
Thor could of chopped Thanos’ arm off, Dr. Strange could of used his Sling Ring to create a Portal that slices off Thanos’ hand as well or simply go back in time over and over until they got the Gauntlet off, etc.
@@JDRusse11 The directors said...thank you for proving my point. It's hilarious you want to dictate over their creative control 🤣 do you work for marvel?
The really fun thing was the two scenes where I think Gunn does the switch up with Groot. They were at the end where Gamora first understood Groot and then the audience understands Groot saying "I love you guys". I really do think that was some really great writing on that small thing.
as a person that really loves animals and saw those caged up little fellas in our real world, as well as getting experimented on, and then seeing how they did that in the movie... man that broke my ass. I was close to bawling at least 3-4 times throughout this awesome movie
I wasn’t close. I straight up bawled like 7 times.
Same here
Me too. I've been thinking nonstop about all those moments since I saw it last night and I can't stop hearing Rocket's howls when he breaks his friends out. All of those moments are devastating.
DW the animals are not tortured like this
I almost thought Starlord was gonna die on that emotional scene. What a relief
Warlock was definitely meant to be a more central threat but since Gunn had to work around Gamora’s death, that changed the story and took up more screen time so his role was probably changed to what we saw
That is why I wish they kept Gomorrah dead. Her being alive makes no sense.
This movie was absolutely beautiful. I saw American Sniper and even the kid getting the drill to the knee and skull didn't phase me. Rocket's pain made me cry.
When Groot say to Adam: everybody deserve a second chance... Is also say to James Gunn.
Is a message to himself. Because in the movie of DC, suicide squad, the t-shirt of Rick flag, say the same thing in spanish
The movie was phenomenal as was this break down. I picked up on a constant stream of symbolism while watching the movie but clearly missed a lot of it.
One other interesting aspect I thought of is how Groot represents the entire team. Started off as a child like personality in an adult body. Then became more kid like and needed family. Finally he grew up physically, mentally and emotionally. I feel this represents the entire journey of Peter as well. He was abducted as a child and while he physically grew up he was always immature and stuck in the past. Then in the second movie he finds his dad and acts more like the child he is and needing family. In the third movie he has finally grown up and emotionally matches his physical form.
All three of these movies at their core is about family and growth. Hands down the best MCU movies ever. This trilogy ranks up there with the original Star Wars trilogy for me.
My favorite part is when Groot says I love you guys and no one gets surprised because we're now able to understand him as well. ❤
Ugh that was so awesome. We are Groot!
I so love that zune was featured in the guardians of the galaxy. I was never allowed to have any apple products growing up (sadly no game consoles either for the longest time) and i got a zune from my uncle as a hand-me-down. I used that thing so damn much it literally started falling apart. I had folders of folders on my parents family XP computer of pirated songs (no regrets) and o used that thing all the time. Memories my dudes.
It was funny and heartfelt and the action and CGI was top tier. Very well balanced and even though the story was kinda convoluted at times James Gunn still kept it grounded and knocked it out of the park
The Guardians uniform in this film is actually based on what the Guardians wear in the comics, not necessarily just comic Rocket
what an incredible and traumatizing experience of a movie
Watched it twice already. Favorite of the trilogy. Really pulls on the heartstrings. ❤
Same.
Ive watched it twice too. Ive thought about watching it like 25 times but i was too scared to feel like that more than once.
Thank you Ryan, and the screecrush team for always putting in so much work ,and amazing content for us 👍🏽❤
A great callback in the movie was Rocket's use of gravity boots at the beginning and end of the movie referencing when Iron Man called him Ratchet from the Ratchet & Clank games in Endgame
RIP to Floor, you forgot to mention her when talking about that scene. Great movie.
I like that they didn’t ship Peter and Nebula. I like that Peter was always only about Gamora, no matter which one it was. I like that the other Gamora was still intrigued by the whole thing. I’d like to think that down the line they still end up happy together somehow.
Watched it today. All I'm gonna say is I respect THE BALLS they had making this movie.
Graphic, dark, brutal, visceral, emotional...
I most definitely wasn't expecting what I saw. And that's not a complaint by the way. It was awesome!!
The fight scene at the end was AMAZING work! WELL DONE JAMES!
I LOVED this movie. Bravo James Gunn for an incredible trilogy.
That scene with the High Evolutionary with young Rocket on his lap reminded me of when Peter Wayland talked to a young David in Alien Covenant. Explaining the maker and creation relationship
One detail I picked up on that I think was a reference to peacemaker was that one of the animals we see when rocket first enters the area with all the caged animals was an eagle which I think could’ve been a reference to eagly but I could be wrong
@screencrush when naming them selves, you can see the progress the high evolutionary is making on intelligence when you look at how each animal communicates. Floor names herself because her she is very literal, teefs names himself as such because he is capable of comparisons, lyla shows higher intelligence because she doesn’t name herself as a something she sees, but as a “pet” name. Rocket shows highest intelligence because he dreams of the future and thinks ahead. Thus Rocket
Every character had time to shine! I’m not crying, you’re crying!
Curious why Star Lord wasn't using his signature helmet or using Aerorigs anymore. Could have helped in that final battle.
They were destroyed by Ego in Vol2. The Russo's brought it back for Endgame and Infinity War but I assume Gunn preferred the thematic element of Ego destroying the Celestial Outlaw Quill and Human Guardian Quill being born from that
Groot asked Nebula if his kamikaze entrance looked cool because that’s her jam.
She came after Gamora that way, and she hit Thanos that way.
You didnt mention how Drax dances at the end which is a big deal for him because he always said that only idiots dance (or something like that). So him finally being able to dance shows his growth.
It also shows he is ready to move on from his pain of losing his wife cause she would not dance, and his main emotion is restrained grief
Drax's whole arc in this movie was really touching ❤
Somehow high evolutionary was the most despicable marvel villains yet. What an emotional experience! Best marvel film since probably end game in many ways....just hits different.
Two things, 1) late in the movie Peter calls Mantis Bug. Now I didn't collect Guardians of the Galaxy, I collected the Micronauts. And everyone's favorite (if it wasn't Acroyear) was Bug, who I understand later became a Guardian.
Spent most of movie crying. It was amazing loved the story, the character arcs everything. Def. is now on my top 3 MCU movies
Also not to forget Groot growing instantly big is a nod to his ability in the comics, Mantis knows finally martial arts like in the comics and in the post credit scenes we see King Groot another nod to comics. Nice
Laika had the best Parade a 'good dog' could ever imagine!
I laughed so hard when Ryan ignored the dogs question :)
My husband and I loved the movie. So much emotion and action. Great breakdown, Ryan. And I love that you always give credit where it's due. Erik Voss at New Rockstars is one of my faves.
Great trilogy props to James Gunn Amazing director and of course Thanks to the whole SC team for breaking it down
I love how this movie starts with Rocket with Zune instead of Peter, signifying this is is his story now
Thank you for the breakdown! I might be riding the high of an incredible Marvel movie but this is now my favorite Marvel movie. I can safely say it's going to stay that way for a while.
22:05 The great thing about that scene of Drax doing the zargnut bit again is he kinda went invisible after making that ploy at Quil lol. Like he blended in with the background so well as Peter was talking to Mantis, just floating in the background that he became "invisible" lmao. Which was so good when I caught it. This movie was well shot and directed.
I love the thought of nebula just showing up and taking buckys arm and just leaving😂
The new blue Guardian suits are based on Starlord's ORIGINAL costume when he debuted in Marvel Comics back in the 70's. When this version of the Guardians of the Galaxy formed during the events of Annihilation Conquest, they all wore uniforms based on Starlord's that had red piping instead of white.
Adam is one of my favorite heros! I hope to see him again! They need to get him right!
Anyone enjoyed the High Evolutionary using a stool to be taller than Ayesha? it's very meta for his character's rage and dive. had to look up the actors real heights. 5'8" and 6'3", respectively.
That line about imperfections was so good Ryan had them play it twice 😂😂
39:15 the Yondu appearance reminded me of Obi-WAN’s force ghost guiding Luke
I have a question. Where was Peter’s helmet for the whole movie?? He had it in Infinity War and Endgame. Would have eliminated his whole “death scene”
Peter clarifies multiple times that it's not a trap, "it's a face off". At the end, they take the face off of the High Revolutionary.
The movie version of Rocket’s back story is very different from his comics back story, but they picked the same species for his core group who opposed the evil Toy Makers in Rocket’s first solo run. Rocket and Layla are the same, plus they had a walrus (Wal-Rus) and a rabbit (Black Jack O’Hare).
I just saw this like 10 minutes ago I loved everything about I especially Rockets backstory I always wanted more of that and Gamora’s character in this one was actually way better than I thought and this movie was a perfect close to James Gunn’s amazing Guardians of the galaxy trilogy.
I saw the first flashback as more of him being completly frozen by fear and being unable to move. It happens
I felt like the design of orgoCorp and the High Evolutionary's ship felt very inspired by some of the GOTG video game environments.
Exactly my thoughts
@@YazielEsquivel23 Loved the game. super slept on. Probably because The Avengers was so bad people thought it was another one of those. Solid gameplay and story, I had a blast.
This movie had me bawling my eyes out from start to finish and it started when Peter rolled over in his sleep telling nebula "I love you gamorra" 😢😢😢 all the stuff with rocket had me crying my heart out!! What didn't help me was the fact that Chris Pratt looks an awful lot like my son and quill has very similar mannerisms to my son too, all I wanted to do was mother quill alot in the movie, kind of ease his broken heart a bit like a mother would do for her son, dammit MCU, you really hit me in the feels and I love it! ❤❤
I thought the children in the cages were very similar to the Children of the Sun/Zebra Kids from the comic books. And always good to have a MCU hallway scene, this one kinda reminded me of Sucker Punch.
I was wondering where the children were taken from or if the High Evolutionary created them from scratch.
@@carlycarcelli1515 I assumed scratch but he WAS horrible enough to just commit child abduction and experiment on them after.
I was blown away by the talent and skills displayed in this video, it was truly remarkable
I am not particularly a fan of the guardians. The movies weren't bad but I also thoroughly didn't care (except Yondu). But this movie, man they nailed it. I cared so much about Peter and Rocket and Mantis and the others and that was really refreshing. It felt like genuine human beings. And the few longer jokes were really funny as well! I didn't expect to love it (and cry so mich). Well done James Gunn!!!
I gotta watch it again. I didn’t get ALL that. But so many people are sayin it was one of the best MCU movies. The jokes felt forced. There were some emotional parts but, for the most part it wasn’t funny. They kept forcing the joke with Cosmo and Kraglin. The only Good fight scene was the one on the ship. I caught a 1030 showing an it was fairly packed, but not much laughs. The plot itself was Good. But is wasn’t like exceptional. And this is coming from a HUGE Marvel fan, hot take I thought Ant-Man was better 🤷🏾♂️ hell Ryan bad dog joke was better than Gaurdians 😂
Also I loved that this showed how Rocket learned to love and appreciate "classic" music as it was, instead of trying to Orchestrate it like the High Evolutionary.
Such a good film! Think my favourite character in this was Gamora, Zoe Saldana did so much to bring her closer to her comic book origin of literally being one of the baddest women in the universe like she’s supposed to be! Thought her journey here mirrored Gunns, being killed off but refusing to die, starting something new in Suicide Squad & the Ravagers then returning to what they knew before in Marvel/Guardians. Then finally eventually returning to that something new that they started after Guardians/Marvel wasn’t the same even though they were around the same loved ones as before.
I don’t recall this being mentioned anywhere but I may have found a parallel between Rocket and Adam Warlock…
Rocket’s first word was “hurts”, and the first thing we hear Adam say is “that hurts”. Okay maybe not the exact same phrase but to go even deeper, both Adam and Rocket were “failures” of the High Evolutionary whose first words we heard were related to pain and suffering. The way I see it, in some sense, Rocket Raccoon and Adam Warlock are brothers. I hope they have some sort of brotherly dynamic between them down the line.
Man… I loved this movie, it made me really emotional!
38:06 They state right after they shoot the cannon out of the eye that they only had enough credits to pay for one blast, which would assume they built the defences in the eye themselves.
I absolutely loved this film as I did both Guardians films and the special. My only gripe was Adam felt underused and almost unnecessary but aside from that it was great.
Rhett?
"Rocket, Teefs, Floor go now!".......just gonna sit on the floor and cry now.
