    Great advice! I've bean on finasteride for 4years with no side effects so far ! I started at 52 years old, and only have mild receding hairline. But to avoid any side effects I'm going to take a 2-3 week break like the Dr said! Great video.

    Unfortunate that I saw this video late. Been on Finasteride(for DPA/DUPA) for about 2 years (1 mg/day). I got ED and my doc lowered my dose to 1mg every other day. That improved my ED almost to normal before getting low again. So after 3 months he asked me to go turkey cold. Now it's been 2 months since I'm off the drug and experienced the deception in the first 2 weeks where my erection is back to normal and all the symptoms you mentioned above. And now my doc asked me to get back on the drug since I have heavy hair-fall now. Basically I went turkey cold and now I'm back on it. now will it undo the damage? what should I do please help doctor!

    I have a couple questions
    1. What is the daily dosage you recommend?
    2. When you take a break every 3 months do you go off the drug cold turkey or do you taper down?

    • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The dosage depends upon a lot of variables that are specific for an individual. 14 days break has not problem since the receptors are suppressed for longer.

  • @Anjalicu5os
    @Anjalicu5os ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You say to take breaks for 2-3 weeks .. What if someone gets cold turkey at that time itself because we are stopping the drug suddenly for that time

    • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not cold turkey. The 5AR suppression persists for 4 weeks and you are starting the drug in 2-3 weeks.

    great video thank you! I cant believe changing brands has an effect. I have lost ground the last few years after changing brand but It's so hard to pinpoint if this is the reason why and I have read other people have said the same after changing brands I don't understand how if you are still getting the exact same amount of the same drug a day? My other culprit was taking test boosters for the gym such as Animal M stak, tribulus, turkesterone. I have constantly taken 1 mg finasteride and topical minoxidil once sometimes twice a day but lost some ground

    Thanks for your video! Just subscribed to your channel lately! Taking Finasteride 1mg/day for 2 years following a hair transplant. I'm on TRT and am not suffering any sides, besides I observe less vascularity when on Finasteride, while not changing my lifestyle and working out on a daily basis. I guess it affects my metabolism burning less fat than when I am not taking it. Is that possible? So, I was contemplating micro-dosing Finasteride at 0.5mg 3 times a week. • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For those after hair transplant there is no microdosing advised till 6 months - as you have mentioned. For thinning hairs full does for aggressive progression in the young and then tapering it down to 0.5 mg on alternate days. In other with not too much progression but in whom baldness is not yet stable, I start with 0.5 mg on alternate days and then build up. Every patient is not the same. @@firsthelix6726

    I have a doubt doctor ,
    The serum concentration of finasteride is reduced by half after 6-8 hrs due to its half life,so if we take it at 11 pm which means it's is only 50%effective at blocking 5 alpha reductase at 7 to 8 am which is when the testosterone peak occurs
    I read Finasteride is a competitive inhibitor of 5 alpha reductase which means it competes with testosterone to bind to 5 alpha reductase, meaning more the concentration of finasteride,the more it prevents testosterone binding to 5 alpha reductase,there by reducing the formation of dht.
    The peak of finasteride occurs 1-2 hrs after consuming which means the concentration of finasteride is Max in blood 1-2 hrs after consuming, so taking finasteride at 6 am would make it peak at the same time as testosterone peak around 8 am , which is what I didn't understand ,why taking it late night is better thank you doctor

    Dr Bhatti, I got this question: what do you think would be better, taking 1mg every other day or taking 0.5mg daily? The question is based on the idea that by taking it every other day, half the days the system would be "unprotected" from the morning peaks of testosterone.

    @hairtransplantinindia Great video. Id like to get your opinion on my situation. I began Finasteride (1mg/day) in 2013 at age 40 along with topical Minoxidil. Until 2020, i maintained all of my hair (no regrowth but i was still happy). By 2021, I began to lose my hair out of the blue (no change in regimen). After 12 months of the same, i switched to oral Minoxidil and oral Dutasteride (.5mg/day). I started every other day for 6 months but when wasnt working, i started taking daily for last 6 months. I believe the minox is working because i feel hair is thicker all over body. Unfortunately the Dutasteride isnt working because i still lose more hair every day. What would you suggest?
