I have been taking oral finasteride 1mg per day for over 2 years now. Zero side effects. My only regret is I wish I had started taking it much sooner than I did. When I purchased the first bottle I kept it in the cabinet for about 6 months too afraid to take a pill thinking it would destroy my life, reading all the others stories about side effects. Looking at the actual studies, reported side effects are about 2 percent which was the same as that experienced by the placibo group. So I started taking it and have never had an issue. It has stabilized my hair.
@@gergelyzoltan8422 Actually, as men get older they become more sensitive to DHT than someone who is younger. That's why as men get older they are more likely to have hair loss even though DHT levels are less. In that sense, finasteride proves to be even more effective in my case as it has stopped hair loss. As far as side effects, a billion dollars worth of double blind studies since the drug was introduced has shown consistently that about 2 percent experience side effects, which was the same as the placebo group experienced, so the drug is very safe. For those who do unfortunately experience side effects the studies also show that the vast majority stop experiencing the side effects once the drug is stopped. The side effects in most cases are mild as well. That is why it is important to speak to your doctor and not get your information from 3rd party stories from the internet.
Man, I got into hair loss treatments 13 years ago when I discovered I was losing hair. Had severe side effects from fin and decided to just let it go. I see now that after all this time nothing has changed at all. Same treatments, same problems.
Have you checked out our video on topical finasteride? It might help with the tolerability issues you experienced - especially at exposure volumes of 0.1 mg daily. th-cam.com/video/NuX3vEq2Mao/w-d-xo.html I'm sorry to hear about your experience with both drugs.
@@PerfectHairHealth Why don't you ever talk about topical dutasteride or dutasteride mesotherapy? Topically many people report that dutasteride does not pass as easily into serum and affect body system as easily as topical finasteride. Many can't tolerate fin. Lots of clinics in Spain offer Dutasteride mesotherapy, plus is you only need to get it once a month, and for topical dut - once a week because of long half life of 4/5 weeks.. Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter!
@@lexi6081 Hair system is not a solution as it’s not your real hair that actually grows on your head. There always be the anxieties in the back of you mind if people notice it or whether it’ll come off.
These side effects matter to guys more than the medical establishment realizes. A good friend of mine was taking Dutasteride for prostate enlargement issues and started growing breasts. Dropped it and said he’d rather use a catheter to pee.
I think the majority of people who worry about Finasteride/Dutasteride side effects get spooked off too soon. When I first started taking Fin I had a side effect twice early on & then never again. For those who worry about sides I would take the doses for at least a good month before throwing in the towel. Of course if you're having bad side effects constantly I would stop also but I think too often people let one sign of a side effect scare them off when it wasn't going to end up being a normal occurence
oral finestride and 5% monoxidyl definitely showed some improvement after 3-6 months (if taken/ applied daily) - however - the side affects hit me early on (1-3 weeks) and it was really disappointing as it does not affect all users - tiredness / aches and pains / and worse of all memory issues and depression .... it may work for you but it really does come at a high risk from my experience. Id rather have energy no aches and pains and a good memory and not be depressed than a head of hair.
Amazing hair serum. I have been using littleexxtra reactivaate hair serum for about a month now for my excessive hair fall issue. It is very effective for me. Additionally, new hairs are growing now. This is my 2nd bottle. Hair fall diminished instantly and new hair growth has begun now. Absolutely loving THE SERUM!
Noticed my hair thinning in May 2023, and by July I can see more of my scalp mainly the front and top. Can’t pinpoint if it’s TE or something else. No genetic reason. I had a stressful family event last fall. It’s still a lingering stress. Got on minoxidil a week ago. Started microneedling today. Getting on nutrafol tomorrow 😅. And seeing my dermatologist next month to get a full bloodwork analysis etc done. I said all this because as stressful and near to tears I am about this sudden hair loss, your channel really helps keep me informed and somehow I feel comforted. So thank you. So much.
Bro same and I'm only 24 yo , I can see bald spots on top of my head I started wearing a hat to avoid the wind because my hair got too thin . Can you provide any update on your situation please , what works and what it doesn't work ?
I've experienced significant hair loss issues. I tested many hair serums. The trending ones and the products that influencers endorse, however none looks to work. The special wedding day is in 4 months and I was concerned a lot because my hair wasn’t looking good. I've came through this hair growth serum by reactivate littleexrta and I have been using it for the past month. I’ve noticed positive results, My hair is growing faster & Hairfall has lessened. Also, some white hairs have begun to turn black. I've apply it daily. It’s a necessary recommend serum for everyone who deals with hair loss.
Men are mostly affected by Androgenic Alopecia - So nothing really beats Finasteride/ Minoxidil combo with Microneedling. Anagain, Procapil, Baicapil, Capixyl, Redensyl etc. can help, but NOT to that extent.
I had side effect from oral finasteride and minoxidil. Taken for 6 month hair regrew. Side effects lowered my sex drive, added brain fog, indecisiveness. I decided it is better to go bald than be a weak sack. three years later decided to give a go to topical minoxidil 15%, topical finasteride 1%. Now using it for two months, no noticable side effects, hair are growing back.
Be cautious with Avodart (Dutasteride). Recent studies have shown links to severe depression. I myself had horrible side effects with this drug.I did get much better hair growth with it, but it isn't worth the side effects. Now I'm with finasteride and while it is not as effective I'm not getting side effects from it
I got muscle twitches from it. It was awful. I could feel my shoulders and upper arms twitching all the time. I dropped down to Finasteride and it's fine. + I am not convinced taking this stuff long term does your brain any good...I wonder if in 10-20+ years time they find an increase in alzheimers or something? How scary would that be?
I took finesteride for almost 20 years starting in my mid 30s due to baseline elevated PSA. I didn't get side effects until 12-15 years later. When I stopped at just under 20 years, the side effects had gotten really bad. Unfortunately several years later, they never reversed. I would highly caution anyone from using this drug if they care about their sexual health.
Thats what i needed to hear thank you! Im 17 suffering from the early stages of male pattern baldness and i already use minoxidil and now a derma Roller, I started questioning if i should start with FIn as well with the intention to just stop when or if the side effects kick in since i thought they would stop if i simply stop (would go bald if that happens but who cares) Now that i know that even if i stop using it it can affect my body its a big no no
If you took it for 20 years it means you are now in your 50's. In your 50's it is normal for men to have loss of libido, sex drive and even ED. It is pretty common
doesn't make any sense, you are 50 it's normal for that to happen if you aren't really healthy and eat in a certain way to works for you, you should go to a functional doctor
been using apple cider vinegar with onion garlic extract reishi and turmeric, so far looks good, i also use medicinal mushrooms and drink sencha green tea.
I'm on my second month using dutasteride and I can tell you that it has a much better cost benefits than finasteride. In just two months I already see good results on my hair and with less side effects than when I took finasteride. Actually I had no side effects until now. The good thing about dutasteride is that it increases the testosterone leves by up to 23% according to researchs. When I took finasteride it took 6 months to show the same results as I am now in two months with dutasteride. Let's see the outcome in the next months regarding results and possible side effects. I'm optimistic regarding that.
One day hair loss will be prevented - its a strange process, ive noticed sensations in the pattern baldness areas that feel like burning - the sensation comes and goes and ive noticed it generally marks the start of further loss and receding in the area. Also, and this has been documented the actual thickness of scalp skin reduces in balding areas plus when i get goosebumps they only happen with any strength in the side areas of the scalp. Anyone else noticed any of these things?
Definitely felt it. My pinnacle was when I cut my hair really short, then used shampoo to thoroughly clean my hair and scalp. After that I could not stand being outside as my scalp felt like it constricted my skull and it was also super dry. Now after doing massages, using lard and oils, and having a longer hairstyle, I don't feel that burning feeling anymore.
@@JD-fr7rm I have a bit more hair density than last year so I believe it's stable for now. Nevertheless, my scalp is less itchy and has less dandruff than before
I have used both oral finasteride and oral dutasteride. The dutasteride works great, but it has a detrimental effect on a condition I have called "essential tremor" - it increases the tremor in my hands after continuous use. This makes it undesirable in my case, and I have to revert to finasteride, which is less effective but doesn't affect my tremor.
I'll share my experience with you guys:- I got a hair transplant 5 months ago on August 2022 and was prescibed with minoxidil , finasteride 1 mg dose daily. I've got head full of hair now but I do experience the effect of finasteride as well. For me it's loss of libido and reduced erection. I am going to give up taking finasteride now coz what's the point of having hair if you can't even have proper boner 😂.
@@mysteriousjz they want you take fin cos they don’t want you to lose the other hair that has no resistance to DHT. The transplanted hair can last for ever. My cuson had his 25 years ago and it’s still thick. He didn’t take anything. @Sandip Patel Isn't thier some locations of hairs that are immune to dht(Which is why some never die off) and I heard they use those hair to fill in your bald spots. So why would you have to take finasteride if these hairs are immune. Don't know if this is true but do you know If this is true.
For years, I tried most everything on this list and a few things that weren't including minoxidil and a laser helmet (anyone want to buy it cheap?) Then I accidently discovered what worked for me- or actually my wife did. After I moved to the Philippines and married her, she started washing my hair with a native product with somethin in it called gugo bark, from a vine that grows here. After 6 months I had a full head of hair, the first time in 20 years. I buy a 1 liter bottle of it here, which lasts several months for about $7.00
You forgot 3 top contenders. Nettle leaf/Root Mint oil(According to ppl same effect as min/finaestride but without the side effects) Coconut milk- Over other milks for Dht blocking since it contains vitamins your hair needs
Nettle didn't work for me. Coconut oil is good. I just bought spearmint and i have high hopes with this one because it significantly lowers total testosterone and free testosterone. Let's see. Soy isoflavones together with MSM is a very strong combo.
... but Lower DHT also leads to - increased bodyfat, lower strength, lower bone density, lower positive emotions, increased blood pressure, less flexible blood vessels, increased anxiety and depression, increased chance of diabetes, increased chance of cancer, decreased cognitive functions even shallower breathing ... is having more hair worth the risk to your health in the future?
I went to a really good dermatologist and she said something I have never heard before. Consuming pills every day isn't good for us, and often times finasteride is metabolized by our bladder, which means after 20-30 years of having these pills there's more risk of bladder cancer. Not my words, but I thought it was an interesting point.
You say 0.2 is enough for blood saturation of propecia. My doctor has me taking 1mg every Monday Wednesday and Thursday to help my testosterone. Is it better to take 1mg 3x a week or daily 0.2 for increasing T and still helping my hairline?
I was taking oral finasteride and developed a worsening in my anxiety pretty quickly. Stopped it and switched to topical a few weeks later. The topical didn't give me side effects for quite some time, but I think around 3 months in (maybe less) i started experiencing sexual side effects. Low sex drive and just wouldn't stay as hard with my girlfriend. Ditched the finasteride, ditched the girlfriend, hopefully not ditching my hair for a few more years 😂
Interesting story, bro! Tell me, please, what dose of topical fin and oral did you take? Did your libido come back after you quit finasteride? Have you taken other medications or vitamins, maybe minoxidil or zink? I will be grateful, if you answer 🙂

I took oral finasteride for not even 5 days and it was giving me the worst anxiety I’ve had in my life! It almost gave me an anxiety attack during a college class, out of absolute nowhere. The feeling was close to a sense of doom, it was absolutely awful. I notified my doctor and he took me off of it immediately. I haven’t had any sort of anxiety like it before. It also made my tinnitus louder, and gave me bad headaches (I never get headaches) Luckily I was able to get a refund but I am sticking to topical minoxidil for now. Works pretty good.
I am 57 and still have a full head of hair despite the beginning of MPB several years ago. I use 2 items not mentioned here and have zero problems or side effects. Good luck. I thought I would save someone some money. And any side effects that might happen I know oil will probably help in the hair department. Rogaine seems like the only cure.
If all fails to regrow hair there is always the baseball cap or toupee. And if you are 50 or older who cares anyway just wear a hat and forget the toupee or other methods save your money . It is not just DHT but high stress causes hair loss and other health issues.
I take stinging nettle root,I make a tincture from it also small Willow herb that I dry to make tea, they are also good to slow prostate grown.I grow them in my garden.
As a androgenetic alopecia (AA) sufferer of over 30 years, I would dissuade anyone from using nonpharmaceutical solutions: they may be safer, but their real effectiveness is nil. Regarding the pharmaceuticals, the path should be finasteride-->dutasteride-->? (I'm assuming everyone will be on minoxidil simultaneously). I show a question mark because most AA patients will experience a decline in effectiveness of even the best anti-DHT medications over time. After treatment for 20 years or more, most of us will be at a loss of what to do next. More research is desperately needed.
This is great advice. The problem with all natural interventions is that they lack long-term data. That doesn't necessarily mean that we should confuse the absence of evidence as evidence against those interventions, but we have to keep in mind the "known knowns" when navigating treatment options. For some people, natural DHT reducers work well enough to stave off AGA progression - at least in the short-to-medium term. But what about 5 years down the line? Or 10 years? We don't yet know, because the clinical studies don't yet exist (and they may never exist). There is also the phenomenon of waning treatment efficacy in some people on long-term 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it happens enough to suggest that other mechanisms end up taking over in AGA outside of 5-AR activity, or (just as likely) that endogenous factors begin regulating those drugs' efficacy long-term - such as the case with androgen deprivation (AD) and prostate cancer (where AD, over time, becomes ineffective). I agree that we desperately need more research.
Perfect Hair Health thanks for this amazing knowledge about hair loss. I already asked this question in one of your videos, may I know what is your current hair loss regiment? Thanks again
Really? Everything here is trial and error. Nothing is concrete except a hair transplant along with Finasteride daily to help keep what you have - so they say...(?) The end.
Could it be that our bodys produce more dht nowadays in order to counteract all the estrogen like chemicals in our food, products and environment. For example pesticides, BPA in food cans, plasticizers in vinyl.
Keep your carbs low. Consistently high blood sugar levels can lead to insulin resistance, where the body's cells become less responsive to insulin. This condition has been linked to an increase in androgen production, particularly dihydrotestosterone (DHT) a derivative of testosterone.
Nature vs patents, nature vs big farma. It,s a bit hard to trust all this studies. I think try yourself is the best study. So I'll try saw palmetto 6 months and see what happen then. Good luck everyone.
Also, another topic: is it normal to have prescribed topical minoxidil (1 per day), oral regexidil/ minoxidil (1 per day) and duta/finasteride (1,5 mg per week in total) ?
Hey Rob, This video is perfectly structured and addresses the same concerns many of us share. Two questions. 1. Would any of the alternative natural DHT blockers compete with Saw Palmetto? I'd be interested in seeing a video on the ones not covered in this video, unless they are all "F". 2. Can an SSRI such as Prozac cause hair loss (not in the short term but while on it long term)?
Some people have found that the Edgar Cayce (a medical intuitive from the early'ish 1900's) advice of crude/unrefined Pennsylvania "sweet" crude oil occasionally applied to the scalp helps to stop hair loss and boost growth.
Quoted paper "The efficacy and safety of dutasteride compared with finasteride in treating men with androgenetic alopecia: a systematic review and meta-analysis" links to the original paper "Effect of dutasteride on the risk of prostate cancer" but incorrectly reports its conclusion, which actually is the opposite: "In conclusion, among men at increased risk for prostate cancer and for benign prostatic hyperplasia, dutasteride REDUCED THE RISK OF PROSTATE CANCERS and precursor lesions and improved many outcomes related to benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dutasteride may be considered as a TREATMENT OPTION for men WHO ARE AT INCREASED RISK FOR PROSTATE CANCER."
Dude, you should never recommend dutasteride. My GP gave that to me and said, " this will prevent you from ever getting Prostate cancer." I started to realize months later that my labido had decreased, and that my semen was almost nothing. I went to a Urologist who took me off dutasteride and a month later, my hair started falling out in handfuls. I was forced to go back on it, or lose my hair. Now, my labido is zero and I'm stuck with this delema. Don't use this as a DHT blocker for hair growth. Before this, I was losing no hair.
Question for you Sir, I have a supplement with standarized 160 mg saw palmetto (85% fatty acid), also has 120 mg of pumpkinseed oil. should I still take two of those or just 1?
@@iamlucashorvath I took Finasteride for 2 years but still experienced shedding and hair miniaturization. My hair looked thinner and my hairline receded even more. I decided to drop Finasteride and began doing scalp massages and was shocked by the outcome. My scalp felt amazing, I have stopped shedding and almost 3 months in I can see new hairs where my hairline use to be. So for me scalp massages reduced and stoped hair loss better than propecia.
@@iamlucashorvath I went to several dermatologists and all diagnosed me with mpb. However, the possibility that they were all wrong exists. Finasteride does work, however it does not work for everyone, no medication does. People who suffer from mpb should give it a chance since it’s safe and effective but in my case it did nothing. I had clear signs for mpb such as family history, receding hairline and diffuse thinning in the crown. Blood tests also came back normal.
@@iamlucashorvath you’re right that sticking with one is best and it’s what I’m currently doing. The second dermatologist I seen was much more in depth and professional conducting proper tests then gave me the final diagnosis. They were also the one to first prescribe me Finasteride. The third dermatologist I seen wasn’t for my hair but for another issue I had in regards to my skin and while I was there I asked them to take a look at my scalp and hair loss and they gave me the same mpb diagnosis. Finally I moved out of town and had to find myself another dermatologist and that is the one I’m currently seeing.
Another excellent, reasonable and level-headed video Rob! Just wondering what is *your* current hair loss protocol? Are you administering any topicals, orals, doing massages, etc.? Your hair looks immaculate and I remember in one of your very first TH-cam videos you mentioned that you stopped the massages, so I was wondering how are you maintaining this lion's mane? Thanks!
Thank you! Currently, I'm still employing stimulation-based therapies (microneedling, massaging, etc.) - albeit less consistently than in the past. No topicals, oral supplements, medications, or devices. I mentioned this in another comment below, but because my time is so constricted today versus when I started doing these interventions 7+ years ago, I'm also considering beginning a DHT reducer in the next few months. I'll be sure to make a video about my protocol soon!
@@PerfectHairHealth Thanks for the thorough reply Rob! It would extremely interesting to see what DHT inhibitor you would select for your own protocol and at what dosage/administration frequency, please keep us posted!
I had the same question. My hair is great now and I am 45, so what should i take a dht blocker to prepare for the future? I am a little concerned of the side effect in terms of low T delivery
You should know 1 thing. It is not about count of reasearches. It is about proper reading the reaserches. That means, even if you see some reaserches, you cant actually trust them. Thats why people create metaanalysis.
I tried red clover, nettle, and licorice with No results. Saw Palmetto and pumpkin seed oil are two of the best along with Soy Isoflavones. I will retry green tea soon because i think it's a good one and also spearmint. I have already bought spearmint and i have high hopes because it significantly lowers total testosterone and free testosterone.
@@Jil8840 I bought some spearmint tea from Greece, which you have to strain but it's great for relaxation, as an anti-androgen/pro-estrogen and has a delicious rich taste! I recommend it. It also helps curb inflammation to the hair follicles. This is a great choice!
This video seems to contradict the whole idea of the channel. People using Finasteride don't need to massage their scalp in most cases. Plus, PSO has the same effects as Saw Palmetto and yet you didn't cover it equally, as well as you didn't mention coconut oil which is an anti-dht that some doctors say it doesn't mess up with the other hormones... For someone who did a lot of research and knows a lot about the subject, I'm surprised about the recommendation of Finasteride. Are Finasteride supporting your channel? (just kidding, or not)
That’s the point. The video is designed to make this false equivalence between the “natural” or the “prescription” strategy for blocking DHT, so as to support the anti-finasteride view that his scalp massage business is based on. Have you ever seen a tier list video that only shows one item on tier list at a time? He waits 15 minutes before dropping fin and dut as A and S tier solutions, hoping you don’t make it that far, then removes the other “natural remedies” from the tier list so you can’t compare. It’s so sneaky. This guy sucks.
A little off topic, but those considering hair loss may want to try getting a high quality shower 🚿 filter as it will reduce chemicals that are harsh on the scalp. Also trader Joe's offers a sublingual biotin tablet. Lack of biotin has been linked to hair loss.
I am planning to get palmetto berries. What is the best way to use them? I could grind them and eat them like that or make a decoction? I am a female. Thank you.
Word ! The sides are now being shown to be irreversible in some people & tend to show up 5 - 10 years in then boom you got tits, depression & a little penis
Some docs even tout you get higher test from blocking dht which is true but that will throw your entire hormonal system out of balance, all of a sudden all that extra test production goes back into test not dht .. it’s a slippery slope.
DHT blockers aren’t good for y’all in the long run. I won’t detail everything but DHT is important for men and aids in certain functions. I also struggled with hair loss, and I think what we really need to fix is vanity. I know it’s hard and with y’all bros, but I think letting these things happen naturally and accepting it is far more satisfying.
I have 2 questions for you , please answer Do you have any patients who managed to keep their hair and even regrow with only your scalp massages for more than 3 years? And it s true that the mom s gene is more important when it comes to hair ? My dad at my age was receding more than me . Is there chances i don t have his gene ? Thank you , Rob !
Since the mechanisms behind massaging and microneedling are suspected to more so target tissue remodeling (i.e., angiogenesis and fibrosis attenuation) in addition to the stimulation of growth factors / signaling proteins that initiate anagen (i.e., the growth phase of the hair cycle), I'm inclined to believe that people with long-term adherence to microneedling / massaging have an easier time holding onto results. We've seen this reported by some members of our community, and there's also evidence in studies of this happening. For instance, a study on minoxidil vs. microneedling vs. microneedling + minoxidil showed that 6 months after quitting all treatments, nearly all of the participants using minoxidil lost their hair gains while nearly all of those who had done microneedling or microneedling + minoxidil held onto their hair gains. In terms of genes, there appear to be at least 220 genes associated with hair cycling and/or androgenic alopecia. To my knowledge, there's no clear evidence of baldness being more inherited by one parent versus the other.
In some cases, yes! In other cases, it seems like DHT conversion in female pattern hair loss favors backdoor pathways outside of 5-alpha reductase, which would make these drugs a less effective medication.
@@PerfectHairHealth Thank you so much for your reply Rob I do massage scalp , dermarolling , topical pumpkin seed oil with Rosemary . I prefer a more natural way Maybe I will use oral Saw Palmetto

In my case, I tried saw palmetto. After about two weeks, I ended up with nose bleeds. I've since tried it a few more times at very low doses, and in all cases, the nose bleeds came back. So that one is out, unfortunately.
Great content Rob you are an hero in this field and pretty sure you drove me to avoid all the "natural useless" solution and simply go talk to my dermatologist. since mid september I am on minoxidil and finasteride , microneed 1 per week, soon I will start to use an electric scalp massager. Starting to see improvements. One doubt: can you inquire more about "man who can t produce dht never go bald"? Isn't this a confirmation that dht6 is the cause (not a correlated phenomenon) of Alopecia?
Is it possible to do other things that prevent the likelyhood of being affected by Finasteride side effects? I am thinking that having a poor diet, lacking nutrients and minerals and poor lifestyle would increase the odds of the having bad side effects and doing the opposite would give me some room to be protected of them.

Hey Rob , my question is a bit irrelevant to DHT reducers and I'd really appreciate it if you could answer it. I got the Pfizer vaccine the other day and since then I have been shedding a lot of hair. I also have muscle pain to my whole body. It's tolerable but it's annoying. My two inquiries are : 1) Is there a logical explanation for the hair shedding? 2) Is there any study that prove that the Pfizer MRNA vaccine is safe? I know they got approved very quickly since it was an emergency so there is not a of lot clinical data , but I'm scared for long term side effects and to be honest I started regretting that I got the shot. Hi Rob - what literature do you have on the optimal Dutasteride dose to use topically to optimise results without suppressing DHT systemically too much? Loved your breakdown of finasteride dosing and suppression versus results 🙌
We're working on a literature review about this! Anecdotally, we've seen that 4-6mg/week of dutasteride topically seems to have very little influence over serum DHT levels, at least for most people. Higher than that amount, and we get a lot more heterogeneity in the data. Some people still see no serum DHT changes even at 30+ mg per week, while others see a complete nuking of serum DHT. The bigger question (for me) is efficacy. There's a big topical dutasteride study that is near publication and we hope to have more info then.

How old are you ?
@@Freepalestine-q3g3m I am 60 years old.
@@jamest681 no offense, but at the age of sixty, the body's DHT levels are low anyway, so your situation sir, is not comparable to someone in his 20s

I felt shy and depressed on it. It felt like immaculated or something. I had a terrible time in the gym. This was just the topical form too.
Finsteride definitely give side effects. I have got reduced libido greatly and no more morning woods and depression sometimes.
See my comment. You'll think otherwise.
Is propecia or finasteride cheaper?
What kind of side affects
oral finestride and 5% monoxidyl definitely showed some improvement after 3-6 months (if taken/ applied daily) - however - the side affects hit me early on (1-3 weeks) and it was really disappointing as it does not affect all users - tiredness / aches and pains / and worse of all memory issues and depression .... it may work for you but it really does come at a high risk from my experience. Id rather have energy no aches and pains and a good memory and not be depressed than a head of hair.
There is also a small chance of prostate cancer, which defeats the purpose of finasteride if one has to go through chemo treatments.

Also, and this has been documented the actual thickness of scalp skin reduces in balding areas plus when i get goosebumps they only happen with any strength in the side areas of the scalp.

Would it have any side effects on testosterone or TRT?
Keep your carbs low. Consistently high blood sugar levels can lead to insulin resistance, where the body's cells become less responsive to insulin. This condition has been linked to an increase in androgen production, particularly dihydrotestosterone (DHT) a derivative of testosterone.

"In conclusion, among men at increased risk for prostate cancer and for benign prostatic hyperplasia, dutasteride REDUCED THE RISK OF PROSTATE CANCERS and precursor lesions and improved many outcomes related to benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dutasteride may be considered as a TREATMENT OPTION for men WHO ARE AT INCREASED RISK FOR PROSTATE CANCER."

Hmm
Finasteride is just frustrating; it's like a wildcard, but with higher odds of having ED. So, not too wild a card.
A little off topic, but those considering hair loss may want to try getting a high quality shower 🚿 filter as it will reduce chemicals that are harsh on the scalp. Also trader Joe's offers a sublingual biotin tablet. Lack of biotin has been linked to hair loss.
Why would anyone want to decrease DHT for hairloss? I would rather have high DHT and not have hair.

I am planning to get palmetto berries. What is the best way to use them? I could grind them and eat them like that or make a decoction? I am a female. Thank you.
Just remember that DHT is a necessary hormone.
Yeah...that's why i wouldn't advise Dutasteride. That knocks DHT by over 95%....
Fintasteride upto 65%
It's called a trash hormone. It's important when you are growing up.
@@Jil8840Why did a God make us like that. DHT is there for a reason.
What’s DHT Blocker effect on beard and facial hair ?
DHT blockers aren’t good for y’all in the long run. I won’t detail everything but DHT is important for men and aids in certain functions.
I also struggled with hair loss, and I think what we really need to fix is vanity. I know it’s hard and with y’all bros, but I think letting these things happen naturally and accepting it is far more satisfying.
Even if it’s on the scalp? I thought it would be localized and wouldn’t affect your health much

Do you have any patients who managed to keep their hair and even regrow with only your scalp massages for more than 3 years?
To my knowledge, there's no clear evidence of baldness being more inherited by one parent versus the other.
so it doesnt matter if u use 5mg finasteride or 1mg, both will have same effect?since both doses reduce dht by 70%
Can female use Finasteride or Dutasteride ?
( losing hair on the front and temples , so I think it's because DHT )
In some cases, yes! In other cases, it seems like DHT conversion in female pattern hair loss favors backdoor pathways outside of 5-alpha reductase, which would make these drugs a less effective medication.
@@PerfectHairHealth Thank you so much for your reply Rob
I do massage scalp , dermarolling , topical pumpkin seed oil with Rosemary . I prefer a more natural way
Maybe I will use oral Saw Palmetto
Keto shampoo script also has sulfates?
Worth it still? Or to use it couple times per week?
Another option is taking both beta sisterol and pumpkin oil seed capsules together so it'll block dht directly on the scalp without damage the free testosterone
Can you explain more please
Saw Palmetto is truly magical i even noticed the oil production got lower but however low DHT causes some other things.I have noticed my muscle growth slowed down , i got itching on certain areas and back pain.
New subscriber. Love your videos. Are you gonna make some videos about head massages?
Thanks Marko! We've got a whole video series about scalp massages inside of our membership community. Aside from that, we published a study about massaging (including a demonstration video - which you can find in the supplementary materials) here: link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13555-019-0281-6

I don't know why, but the whole project, starting from website and ending with production of this video, reminds me of tv commercials, which usually I distrust. It could be only me, I don't know.
Anyway, the content is great. Thank you so much for it!
In my case, I tried saw palmetto. After about two weeks, I ended up with nose bleeds. I've since tried it a few more times at very low doses, and in all cases, the nose bleeds came back. So that one is out, unfortunately.
I tried saw palmetto for two months now man but I didn’t see any difference in hair density. and ended up with diherrea
Isn't this a confirmation that dht6 is the cause (not a correlated phenomenon) of Alopecia?
what are your thoughts on taking oral finasteride 6 days a week and then taking oral dutasteride 1 day a week?
I have watched a video from foreigners doctors they suggest like you said but should take low dose 1gm fin, 0.5 dutas
crazy informative. thank you!
Thanks!
Is it possible to do other things that prevent the likelyhood of being affected by Finasteride side effects? I am thinking that having a poor diet, lacking nutrients and minerals and poor lifestyle would increase the odds of the having bad side effects and doing the opposite would give me some room to be protected of them.
Hi Rob,
I got a question.
What do you think about caffeine for hair loss?
Hello, I have side effects after finasteride, I used it for about half a year, I stopped taking the drug 3 years ago, I have further effects such as weak erection, failure to maintain an erection, scrotum not holding the volume (dangling testicles), high testicular temperature, what medications can help me? How can you increase the enzyme 5 alpha reductase?
Hey Rob , my question is a bit irrelevant to DHT reducers and I'd really appreciate it if you could answer it. I got the Pfizer vaccine the other day and since then I have been shedding a lot of hair. I also have muscle pain to my whole body. It's tolerable but it's annoying. My two inquiries are :
1) Is there a logical explanation for the hair shedding?
2) Is there any study that prove that the Pfizer MRNA vaccine is safe? I know they got approved very quickly since it was an emergency so there is not a of lot clinical data , but I'm scared for long term side effects and to be honest I started regretting that I got the shot.
Thanks in advance :)
I was just thinking of asking this same question because robs research abilities are second to none 👌🏼
