I've been wanting to check out this series for the longest time and have recently purchased the first volume of the manga. Part of the reason I decided to get it, aside from all the acclaim, is how people have said how hard they believe it would be to adapt it and do it justice. After seeing this video and how much stylization it would need to reach give it that justice, I can certainly see why. Great video though! I always enjoy seeing people take media outside the box while still treating it with reverence!
From my experience, I think the best staff for adaptation would be: Kyoto Animation (studio) + Kensuke Ushio (composer). This staff was in adaptation of “The Shape Of Voice” and they really made a great job. It seems to me that the same team set as for Silent Voice would be the best option. They can convey incredible emotions through pictures and sound, using, for example, small, detailed gestures from characters.
I'd kinda wish Shaft would adapt punpun, cause the way how they do pacing somewhat fits the way how punpun does(?) in a way. i think the big playoff is how they would do, is the dialogs between characters. I mean look at how conversations work in monogatari. they pop in and out and do certain animations to make it sound really nice and coupled with the ost they did, i think it would fit very nicely. and how Shaft sometimes change artstyles when a character talks about something. Oh also Shaft always do this certain animation style that fits in with what dialog is, again I think dialog is the big play. This video kinda convinced me to believe that Shaft would do different artstyles to punpun. th-cam.com/video/0bK0oUWjqXk/w-d-xo.html But again I don't really this happening cause of how different japanese business models does whenever foreign suggestion are involved. **Looks at Jojo part 6 marketing**
I am in the No adaptation for punpun camp, also in no adaptation for vagabond, and yotsuba camp, These stories are really close to my heart I don't want it to be ruined by handing it to people who'll only watch it because its trending, I started reading Jjk from chapter one, I loved it but as soon as it got the mainstream attraction it kind of ruined for me, Every fan page is cancer on top of cancer. Like I don't want a lot of punpun fanart cause that is the point, these stories are so special to be because these are stories about normal people and normal people don't get fanart. Seki is my favourite character from punpun and jokes aside he is literally me. And if he becomes mainstream and worse get yaoi art it'll ruin a lot for me. Though I do get as a comic artist myself why adaptation is important, but as a fan who read the manga before it was even as popular as it is now I don't want trend watcher or reader to come across it.
Tbh I think thats a weird way to look at it. Punpun also hits close to home for me, but I don't see what's the big deal with it getting popular because...it really is just a comic, at the end of the day. And weird fanbases will always be inevitable. Hell, its already there for some Punpun characters.. for me, all you need to do is avoid toxic fanbases, and not associate with them. though I can understand wym on the cancerous fanbase part...im a Sonic The Hedgehog fan 💀 i get it lol
@@HornZ. True though I mean the fanbase will be ruined one day or another if the media is popular to a certain level but I guess i want to enjoy the clean fanbase for as long as possible
I feel like if it did get a anime pun pun would be the one in black in white

Omg yes, how could I forget about Kyoto Animation 🤌
@@HornZ. that’s right 👉. I would put Kyoto Animation instead of MAPPA. Mappa is just rich, but not talented in my opinion
I think it should be like the part in end of evangalion when shinjis talking to rei I think and it’s him talking then black box with words
Ooooh that would be cool
great video , but i would not like a punpun adaptation because i feel that an anime can never capture that dark gloomy feel of punpun
@@Extendo- That's a very fair reason
I would love to watch it

@@sircamealot6274 yea, Studio Shaft would probably be the best choice because of how creative the studio is, artistically. Id love to see it happen
