BLADE also has early bird prices with a 10% discount for limited stock, starting from April 26th. EcoFlow Website: bit.ly/3KGGSDB EcoFlow Amazon: amzn.to/3L22k7C
    The Omni wheels on EcoFlow's new BLADE Robot lawn mower are pretty futuristic looking. But how well does the EcoFlow BLADE hold up to a real lawn? Well today we try out the robot lawn mower at my parents place. Since the grass at my parents yard has not been mowed yet this season - its a good test to see what kind of turf the EcoFlow BLADE can handle.

    I love seeing two different styles that people will have with this. Zach's planning things out, possibly reading the instructions, remaining calm. Linus's just tossing it out, skimming instructions, trying to trick it and find work around, and just all-around chaos. Which will probably be the real world style. Lol

    There are so many ways this could be improved. I appreciate the design, and I can see why they have gone with the omniwheel setup - but its more of a cost cut than it is simplifying anything and it will be the biggest problem with this being a truly 'automated' lawnmower. Those wheels will continually get jammed up and you'll come home to find it stuck in the middle of the lawn because of it.
    One 'simple' way I can think of in terms of making this more automated/less prone to needing human intervention is to add a rubber brush system much like in the catcher but on the front, that pushes sticks out of the way and to the sides. It wouldn't be costly to add and would improve chances of it not needing maintanence or getting stuck.

    They're getting closer but still a long way from matching the value and efficiency of a robot home vacuum or robot pool vacuum (both of which I own and love). I expect sometime in the next 10-15 years I'll be buying a $1000ish robot mower that can mow and edge. I mean, how hard would it be to add a little string line trimmer to the front edge similar to the edge brush on a home vacuum? This GPS learning system to eliminate the need to bury a guide wire is a huge step in the right direction. Just a couple years ago the best robot mowers were basically as dumb as a first gen Roomba that just bounced around inside a guide wire pen at random hoping to eventually hit the whole lawn. Now they're using GPS, laser and camera guidance along with an algorithm to figure out the best way to mow the lawn in straight lines.

    This is very cool and I've been watching this segment for some time. Where I wouldn't buy the first attempt by a company at making an outdoor robot, I still hope they do well. Specifically when I see my elderly (still care about grass lawn much? lol) neighbors struggle to mow twice a week.
    However, with a nearly $3000 price tag, it will still need to come down substantially. Roombas are about $200, and I'm not seeing the value in waterproofing and screwing a few razor blades on to justify the price. It's kind of like Tesla FSD...cool, but about 10x more expensive than I'm willing to pay to upkeep a yard in the first place.
    For reference, we went yesterday and spent $120 on LARGE cobble, and got nearly a ton. It covered an area about 5'x8'. For the price of this mower, we could just nuke the yard and be done with it, no more watering or mowing. Ideally, I'd like something like this to mow the couple little patches of grass we can keep alive without watering.

      You can get Husqvarna's cheapest robot lawn mower for about $700. They've made them for years now, and have several decades building traditional lawn mowers before that.

    I'm running a dual bank Kobalt self-propelled. 2 6AH 80v batteries. (600USD). It's weird hearing an I.C.E. car guy to state this but, I will never own another gas mower. I'm beyond spoiled with this thing. Even if you cannot afford a robotic electric mower, I'd definitely look into a battery powered mower. They are not weak by any means.

    This reminds me to much of Dyson vacuum cleaner campaign a few years back. Within a few days every single Tech-youtuber was showing off their new vacuum cleaner. I assume for both Dyson and this lawn-mower the money was crazy good, and I don't mind.People gonna complain in the comments of the money grab, but honestly, if me watching this lawnmower video means they pay enough money to fund the channel for the next 3 months, then I'm down. I'll watch it 3 times just to make sure it gets good stats!

    We are in the robot age. I've been using roombas for a couple years now. They're excellent. I purchased one of those window cleaning bots this year, and it's amazing. If I had a lawn, I'd go all in on the bots, but I live on a mountain so I am using goats. I saw a crew using robots to mow the divider of the 101. We're gonna see a lot of cool bots in the near future.

      Not really buddy. They were not GPS based at all. It was using a buried perimeter cable for navigation. It's nothing like today's invention that doesn't require buried cables for navigation. GPS based came around 2003. You should probably do more research before telling someone to fact check bud.

    I just bought a greenworks 80V lawnmower. I wish I could have gotten one of the robots instead, but it sounds like you probably need both. I would recommend the 80v greenworks. It is almost as powerful as the gas mower it replaced, and it is much easier to use, quieter and just does not feel like a relic from the 1950's. I get about 45 minutes per charge, and that is enough work for me. However when I was younger I definitely would have wanted another battery for it.

  • @steveaustin330
    @steveaustin330 ปีที่แล้ว

    But here's the thing - what happens when the robot lawn mower goes rogue? I mean, have you seen those sci-fi movies where the robots turn on their owners? I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night to find a robot lawn mower chasing me down the street. And what if it malfunctions and starts chopping up the neighbor's prized rose bushes? Suddenly, you're looking at a lawsuit and a very angry neighbor.
    But if you're willing to take the risk, I guess a robot lawn mower could be pretty handy. Just don't forget to program in an emergency off switch, just in case things start to get too, well, robotic.
