    4 wheel steering on my Honda Accord CB7 2.2i 1990 - was amazing especially going around mini roundabouts in the UK. Also this was done mechanically where if you turned slightly right, the wheels turned right, which allowed you to "glide" when overtaking, but as soon as you turned it harder left or right, the rear wheels reversed allowing tighter maneuvering. Later on the Preludes got a sensor version of this (non mechanical).

      A regular truck or SUV is just as bad. SUVs are inherently less safe then cars for both passenger and pedestrians in a crash. I hope this stupid arms race in weight or size equals safety ends. They need to put taxes on heavy vehicles because non commercial SUVs and trucks have no reason to be so massive.

I mean at over 9000 pounds, with the acceleration it's capable of, and with the height of the bumper, as well as the height of the under plate, this thing would really leave no room for a pedestrian getting hit. So I am hoping that the vehicle can automatically hit the brakes like a lot of Mercedes cars do.

    Great job on the video Zack! Thanks for making it. Next up you should electrify a deuce-and-a-half. I'm betting you could get 4 packs the size of the one you used for the Whisper over the back axle of an old Stewart & Stevenson. Or go full bore and do a 5-ton. lot of solar real estate on the top of one of those too now that I think about it...🤔

      @@rustlesee swing out spare w/ liftgate like they have on 3rd gen 4runners/hilux surfs. Those actually swing out of the way fully if you need, giving you space. Or locate the spare under the trunk space where it can be lowered like most vehicles with the massive width of the vehicle giving plenty of space to do so. Heck you could even have batteries inside the spare as it only needs to be held by a metal line. Heck a drop down spare could prob be done in the front on this truck.

    Always appreciate your videos and have seen all of your EV vids (especially love the Hummer EV build)! But I just learned that my 1999 K1500 Suburban has a slightly better turning radius than the R1T. Top that with a 44 gallon stock fuel tank I can travel the 520 miles from my house to Las Vegas and still have over a 1/4 tank of gas left, unless I'm towing a boat, then I only have 1/8th of a tank, and it only takes approx 5 minutes (costs an arm, leg and my first born) to fill up the tank for another 600 miles. No range anxiety for my family.. LOL

    While it is the first EV I can honestly say I'm even remotely impressed with, I think I would rather go your route and convert my old surplus humvee to electric once it's diesel becomes more of a pain then it is worth. That and there is just the sheer entertainment value of watching peoples heads explode as they try to figure out if that old humvee is actually electric, or if I just put a plug on it to be a jerk. I think I would leave the exhaust attached when I do that conversion just to mess with them.

    • @myrecommendedisallmemes
      @myrecommendedisallmemes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leave the diesel in and make it a hybrid. Would probably be pretty practical with way better stealth/city driving, but still good diesel range for long trips or SHTF applications.

    • @techboss202
      @techboss202 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dat_Sun Did Fox News tell you that or do you just talk out of your ass 😂. It’s okay to be wrong. ICE vehicles are around 30% efficient while elective drive trains are 80-90% efficient. But you know some how I don’t think you care about efficiency or facts but only just reiterate things you hear on those “news” sites that are labeled entertainment.

      @OmegaGamingNetwork ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@myrecommendedisallmemes That is actually my inclination, though that is obviously way more complicated than one or the other.
      @Dat_Sun - It isn't that I want too, but that I suspect an eventual lack of real choice. Parts for these engines are getting steadily more difficult to obtain. Bear in mind that realistically it would be 10+ years before I expect that to be a real consideration and lots can change in 10 years. I don't hate technology, I hate politics pushing technology. I've always found EV's as a concept to be cool, though in reality nothing more than an impractical toy.

      I'm so glad trucks like that exist even as an ev nut myself. I mean a truck that badass that can run on sunshine, gets prius levels of efficiency and can go 0-60mph in the low 3s range? Plus off road and haul 5 adults around comfortably. Well done I say team hummev with gm.
      Plus each one sold causes doubt among the remaining gasholes. Watching their buddies roll around in them and for this segment each one sold takes 1000-1500 gallons of gas or diesel use directly off the consumption list each year it's used. 👍🏻😎

    Years ago I owned a Hummer H2 and only sold it when I left the USA. I bought it because I needed to get to isolated radio towers over 'two-tracks" in winter snow and spring mud, as well as get to distant equipment on a moment's notice, driving hundreds of miles through blizzards on pavement (while other vehicles were sliding off the road). It served me well and kept me safe. But for most, this type of vehicle will never really be used in ways that really take advantage of what it offers. For those folks, it is a ego thing I suspect. I loved my H2. It did what no other vehicle at the time would do. (I used to see Jeeps stuck in the mud as I just drove through.)
