Ratt - Live At The Tokyo Dome, Japan (New Year's Eve 1988, 30th Anniversary Edition)

  • Time for another badass previously archived concert that I have come across on TH-cam. Ratt is another one of my favorite bands of all time, and I find it so odd how they don't have a lot of pro-shot footage out there.
With the exception of the Rock Palace 1984 show being available on bootleg DVD, and the officially released Videos From The Cellar (which was a documentary filmed on the band's 1985-1986 Invasion of Your Privacy tour, with their music videos from 1983-1991), there isn't any other official, pro shot Ratt footage out there sadly...until I came across a Bon Jovi concert in Japan at the famous Tokyo Dome on New Year's Eve, 1988, during THEIR MASSIVE New Jersey tour, where the band played the show with Ratt, Kingdom Come (who are also underrated), and Britney Fox (who suck).
I took the footage, boosted the colors, uploaded it in HD, and pretty much edited together the 3 songs from the entire show that Ratt was featured in:
    1.) "Way Cool Jr." (0:00)
    2.) "Chain Reaction" (5:00)
    - ENCORE (featuring New Year's Countdown, 10:33)
3.) It's All Over Now" (10:52, duet with Bon Jovi, Kingdom Come, and Britney Fox).
I have also boosted the volume, and you can really hear the band in top form here. Reach For The Sky is a VASTLY underrated, stellar album from the Ratt catalogue. A lot of fans have said this tour in particular was where the band really sounded at their most mature and creative peak, and iconic lead singer Stephen Pearcy and iconic guitars Warren Demartini are musically cooking here like a fine Australian sirloin! Enjoy!
NOTE: This video is PURELY for entertainment purposes. I do not take or claim any ownership or rights of this video. The rights belong to Ratt, Bon Jovi, Kingdom Come, and Britney Fox. Enjoy.

Ratt is still one of my all time favorite bands ever! The first time I ever listened to Ratt was back in 1988 I had gotten their Invasion Of Your Privacy album at Camelot Music store on cassette tape at barely ten years old. It is still my favorite Ratt album ever. I do love all their other albums alot also including Out Of The Cellar, Dancing Undercover, Reach For The Sky, Detonator, and Infestation. The only thing I wish Ratt would do is release a 2CD live album from one of their old tours from the 80's or early 90's. Stephen Pearcy has said in old interviews that Ratt has alot of amazing professionally done live material for a potential live album and Blu-ray. I hope that one day they do it.

John Katsoudas Invasion of Your Privacy is also my favorite album and tour by them I’m 16 and the only thing I am able to go off by them on that tour is pictures and audio shows and the you’re in love video and the Omaha 85 video, I’m also hoping one day they do an anniversary box set with a bunch of shows that were recorded and remaster them and remaster the album I mean you gotta think it was their first headline tour so they must have the footage somewhere because I heard that they did record the full show where they did the you’re in love video so the footage must be owned by the members of RATT themselves hopefully they do something like that

Based Guitarist the only way for this kind of music to come back is if it fuses with hip hop culture. That’s pretty much with every music genre now, it has to fit in and have hip hop vibes. Also here’s another thing to do. The rockstars of today don’t want to be rockstars anymore. There is no rock scene emerging. Too much death metal and screaming metal crap that’s going on, there’s gotta be something new and fresh, but it can’t be death metal and screaming corny stuff. There’s gotta be something fresh and new that will define the 2020s. But there’s too many damn genres saying “that’s not rock” “that’s not metal it has to be Greta Van Fleet” that’s another problem too, nobody can’t truly define what rock and metal is.

The reason for the "pro-shot footage" here is that it seems that when bands played in Japan, part of the deal was that somebody (a Japanese media company?, promoters?) got the right to film the concert or at least part of it. I've seen other pro-shot footage of acts performing in Japan that you NEVER get to see in video anywhere else (outside of pirated films and before the advent of smartphones).

Pearcy was not a true vocalist. He was just thrown into that position out of necessity back in the 70's before Mickey Ratt. He ended up making the most of his voice, which was limited, but unique. A style that worked for him, and would go on to eventually be the definitive Ratt sound. A sound that was unique compared to the bands at the time. It might be an acquired taste, but it certainly worked him and the band.
