I love that you are so transparent about your more awkward moments. Cringing at ourselves is such a universal experience but not everyone has to rewatch their awkward social interactions. Actually spotlighting these moments the way you do is so brave, and I respect you for this 😂
I actually think Ryan Gosling was flirting with you as well! You looked stunning during that interview and your questions were certainly not typical! I think you caught him off guard - he seemed fidgety and embarrassed - it was quite interesting!
She did looking stunning but I don’t think he was flirting and I actually think he was uncomfortable with the questions. He tried to dodge the romantic questions and they kept coming :) nothing terrible of course. But, oh my, that first audio clip, “maybe we are soulmates”, that sounds like MAJOR flirtation on his part!!!
I love how your channel has grown out of something so uncomfortable! You deserve the best life has to offer! Congrats, Girl! You truly have grace! What a lovely person you are!
Ryan is charming and funny, but he’s very difficult to interview. With him, it feels like you don’t have much control. If he feels a connection with you, he’ll open up; if not, the interview will be very dry. Some people are just like that.
People think they want to be relatable until they realize they need to be humble enough to be truly authentic about it. Kjersti is the real thing and she’s absolutely beautiful for it! The world needs more people like this. She also inspires me to want to strive to be more like that. She’s also the kind of woman I hope my young adult daughter will look up to and want to emulate. What she’s doing takes a lot more strength than most people would realize let alone have within them. She’s earned the respect and recognition she’s gotten! I wish her, and her man (who also seems to be a very inspirational person) very much success and happiness!
I’m 32 & infertile. My heart broke with yours watching _that_ interview. But, it brought me to your channel. Now my heart laughs, cringes, gets passionate, & reflects alongside yours. There’s such a down to earth, intimate quality to your videos. It’s as though we’re sitting with the sister we never had, applying face-masks & listening as she reads her teenage diaries out aloud. You’ve made a career & life from interviewing others- that’s your talent. But your interviews with yourself? That’s your gift, and legacy. I just watched your SATC video, & I can see its influence in your videos & style. You have allowed us to join you as you go back through your catalogue of ‘columns’ i.e interviews, like an old diary. You take us with you to visit Kjersti at that time in her life…all told from the growth and wisdom of present day Kjersti. Everyone bangs on about being authentic & transparent…you just _are_ , effortlessly. At 32 I feel lost, like I have no idea what I’m doing. I feel I’m just bumbling through life, clueless, like an old blind dog bouncing off the walls. Each video of yours is a reminder to me that _none_ of us know what we’re doing- some of us are just better at hiding it than others. I’m reminded that we can only do our best, with what we have at the time. What a beautiful gift you have offered to us. From the couch, with facemasks & snorting laughter, with love, awkwardness…and gratitude ❤️
Your comment reminds me of 30 yrs ago. I was early 30’s & felt my life wasn’t what it was supposed to be. I’d not married or even dated much & no kids even though I didn’t want any but I was as lonely & wanted a connection. I didn’t have a home yet & just not where I thought I’d be or should be. In my 40’s it all came together & life was good. Then, being life, changes, but now I was ready. You will be too
Your comment made all my videos worth it. I think this is the most wonderful feedback I have gotten my entire career. Thank you so much!! And you know what, I was 33 when I moved to NYC and started a whole new life. I am still confused and feel lost and don't know what do to with my life most of the time, but it's a part of the journey. And life without children can be pretty amazing. Me and my boyfriend love the freedom it has given us. So hang in there, and enjoy the face masks and take one day at the time and it will all make sense in the end. Thank you for sharing. Sending lots of love!
This is so well articulated, thank you for putting into words EXACTLY how I feel about Kjersti's interviews. Like you, I stumbled upon *that* interview first, amidst the BL IEWU backlash, and I'm glad I did, for so many reasons. I struggle with many of the issues you've described so well, as well, as I'm sure do many others among Kjersti's new fan base. Much love, understanding and gratitude! ❤
The world needs more people like this. The illusions people have created around themselves in Hollywood and social media have become unbearable. Insulting in fact.
But the thing women are doing to top each other on how much they can degrade and devalue themselves by appearing in public virtually naked. Tilt! The world is off its axis.
When Ryan Gosling was with Harrison Ford for the BR 2049 interviews they both were very lighthearted and making jokes with eachother so it was cool to see Harrison Ford finally get along that well with another actor lol
I love this. And I love your vulnerability. Your humanity and the authenticity with which you present the interviews and your experiences is what makes the channel. 😊
Ryan Gosling likes to tell stories. His own humor is unique because it’s Canadian style. Self deprecating. Ironic. Quick witted. They tend to put things back on the other person in a subtle humorous way. You as the receiver end feeling off kilter, unsure if they are serious or not. He was likely giving you a hard time because it’s cultural not personal. I see it in Ryan Reynolds, Will Arnett.
Just came across your channel this year thanks to the viral Blake Lively interview & I have to say, your channel is so refreshing! Really enjoy your content, your openness, & the way you share your hits & misses with us. I appreciate your authenticity so much. Keep it up - we love it!
Thanks for giving us a peak into how those interviews with celebs often go down. I've always wondered, like how long the interviews are, who the nice ones are, why we dont see all interviews (turns out some are thrown out by celebs), who the not nice are, what happens between interviews, etc. So thanks, Kjersti.
I think you and your youtube community grew out of compassion, but has now become a really insightful 'show' on the nature of celebrity and all that comes with it. I watch, and learn, something from all of them. And laugh a little at Mr Gosling, romance and sweaters!
Your channel is awesome! Thank you for sharing this! We've all had the "awkward moment" and usually not public, unlike yours. But I'm seeing his body language and the way he is responding to your questions. He thought you were hotness! And thank you for the interview advice. I'm going to work on this when I interview for print (and on my husband, lol). Thanks Kjersti!
I love your authentic grace and openness! You should give yourself more credit. Regarding the "Awkwardness" of the interview, it reminds me of something I've heard repeatedly because I am a huge SNL fan. So, the SNL to incredible acting pipeline is very real, and I have heard that it's because that if an actor starts out in comedy early or really invests in comedic acting, that they can do ANYTHING. While many either dramatic or action actors don't necessarily translate well to other genres. Ryan Gosling I know has really indulged in comedy and being around other comedic actors (Beavis and Butthead on the red carpet was genius) and I think that really helps fuel him but also adds humility. The SNL aspect comes in because of the live show, so the actors who have anxiety and that back and forth with the audience seem to really improve after appearances and working within that format. Bill Hader (one of my favorites) and Ryan Reynolds are both outspoken about having severe anxiety, but add that it gives them an edge, and that reminds me of Ryan Gosling's demeanor - he doesn't "feel" like an A list cinema actor, in interviews he comes off like a nervous ex SNL actor who doesn't necessarily know how he got there, but is making the best of it. It's a combination of humility and humanity that's incredibly relatable and that's awesome. Anyway, just sharing my thoughts about "awkward" but brilliant comedic actors. PS I would LOVE to see you interview Fred Armison and Natasha Lyonne. I think y'all would have a blast! Thanks for sharing your interviews, they are delightful in a tumultuous world.
Also, remember that Bobby Alhoff (?) is popular right now and she is the most awkward person out there, in front of men at least. Embrace the awkward, like Napoleon dynamite it's having a moment
I think Ryan’s energy is awkward. I’ve noticed it before. I think if he didn’t agree with your question he could have elaborated more - I don’t agree that I’m vulnerable in roles but definitely some … more polite
You do your job so exceptionally well! You're so professional in your interviews and seem to handle so many different personalities in such a calm, kind, and stoic way. Props to you 🎉
10:15, on. YES! 💥 There’s something called “wait time” in education. It’s unnatural for us to wait for answers before we start to become uncomfortable, so “wait time” is something we have to learn and practice. Sweet kiddos in school often aren’t given enough time to answer. 🥰 So many good things happen when we wait. 🥰 Love your interviews, Kjersti. And your vulnerability makes you extra likeable. 😉
Kjersti, you are so lovely and gracious. Magnus is well matched to you also. He's so modest. What attractive qualities you both display! I am enjoying your channel very much! Interestingly, LISTEN and SILENT are of the same letters... Your concluding comments are excellent.
These kinds of situations really make us more relatable and it's great to be able to just laugh and cringe about them later on 😂❤ I used to live in Norway btw, great country! (I'm currently living in Finland) Lots of love! ❤
Celebrities have to be so guarded in their word choice. Everything gets scrutinized. It's been so interesting watching your interviews because it shows how difficult it is for an interviewer, such as yourself, to ask an interesting question that hasn't been asked over and over again. So you are trying on a personal level with curiosity. That interview with Blake Lively is very hard to watch, but I'm glad you put it out there. I think you are very brave and I respect you as well as the many commenters below.
LOL, It was a "gangster movie", and the questions were about his romcoms. I get why he was not happy at all with the line of questioning. But, we are human, and we make mistakes! It's cool that you can be open about it.
Kjersti, Love your honesty and transparency. At min 8:05 when asking Ryan about if he remembered his first romantic moment, he uses his middle finger to push the hair over his ear. Body language says he’s not so nice. My H O. Congratulations on your award ✨
Never would have thought you were flirting at that point. Thanks for sharing. A lot of this is not only entertaining but also useful. With how you divulge your interviewing techniques so openly, I wouldn't be surprised if you started gathering an even larger following just from that (which may make it worth to create a program/course at some point).
Magnus is cuter, anyway! 😉Such a fun video; love hearing about your 'behind-the-scenes' thoughts in these interviews! I didn't think the interview with Gosling was awkward, but more that the questions you asked him were not questions he was used to getting. You asked him for more personal details about himself, and he seemed like someone who was uncomfortable talking about his real personal feelings, rather than business. But I love how you always ask them for some little personal details, instead of just the usual movie fluff.💜
wow to your point about putting interviews on youtube instead of selling it to big companies or whatever. i think it's so so so important. I've watched so many interviews - so many press tours- over movies that I never bothered to watch. i'm interested, for some reason, in just natural dialogue. I love the candid moments where they don't have lines, i LOVE the interactions between two people- ESPEcially awkward/obscure ones. Like the parts you cut/people generally cut. I get so bored with most questions about their movie- I think MOST times the art can speak for itself. and so on and so on
I have seen a lot of your interviews before your Blake lively moment , the problem I see, is you get personal with them, like you want them to open up and talk about personal matters, some have responded well , I saw Ben Barnes give you back a great attitude, but is cringe and awkward watching a stranger to ask those type of things to actors who sit to talk about their project, is like :.. "so this movie is romantic , are you a romantic in real life. ? Tell me all about you " they don't know you and they might not want to discuss personal stuff.
Actors understand that working in big Hollywood films means giving up some of their personal life for the fame and money. Fame isn’t for everyone, but actors can choose if they want that life. They’re paid well because they’re famous and have to handle the attention. My job is to deliver what the audience wants, and it’s the actors’ job to help sell the movie. It’s a trade-off: they promote the film, and we get interesting stories. Most actors like talking about various topics, and I try to get them to share what they’re comfortable with. If they don’t want to answer, that’s okay.
You can also chose to be respectful of the actors as an interviewer. Yes, mostly, when someone becomes famous, unfortunately a lot of their personal life is broadcasted. But that doesn't make it ok and you shouldn't advocate it either. It's the difference between having a "it is what it is" mentality versus a "everyone else is intrusive of your personal life, but we can be better" mentality. It doesn't matter how famous someone is. They still deserve a certain level of privacy and respect.
I remember a cringe moment with a guy that was a big lead singer of a band that was popular in Seattle in the early 2000s and I had given him vocal and performance training. He was only a couple years older than me, and it was hard not to crush on him, but I tried to remain professional then he invited me out to see the band play and I showed up, and thought he was singing a song straight to me and the lyrics sounded like they were about me (in my head apparently) and when he got off stage to sit down, he didn’t even acknowledge or recognize me. the next time I saw him in a professional setting he didn’t realize I had even come out to see them play and told me about a girl who thought his songs were about her 😂 I was so embarrassed and it helped me to realize that sometimes our romantic fantasies are simply in our head and it helped bring me back down to earth lol that his job was to make the ladies want him and think he wanted us back 😅
@@Flaawsometalk Lol yes super cringe! and I saw him for the first time in years when I performed in Seattle a couple of months ago. Best story is when I asked Brad Pitt if he wanted a picture with me and he was so flabbergasted that I approached it that way that he simply said yes! I love that picture because I had the audacity to make it about myself. Oh how I miss my 20s! 😂
Awwww! You're adorable. It's okay. We've all been there. I bet if he watches he'll understand, even if not... 😂 it's a long time ago and we all had a good laugh 😃 ❤
Everyone’s been there! Their job is to be charming so he wouldn’t fall for that once in a while 😂❤❤❤ it helped you become a pro and do an even better job with your next interviews.
That was cool! You have Ryan Gosling’s voice saying directly to you, “Maybe we are soul mates.” He didn’t have to add that last part in. Fun experience! You go, girl! 😂
I saw the Barbie movie for the first time this weekend. Today I will watch it for the third time. Ryan was so good in it. He is definitely perfect for the Ken role.😊
Your comments at the end of this video are so so insightful. Believe it or not, but this is helpful for reserachers doing qualitative work. I myself took a similar, more conversational approach with my research participants, in my PhD, and this really changed the dynamic of our interaction. As you said, it really is about the interaction, not necessarily the individuals. I also love your reflective approach, showing the good and the bad... I think this is the best side of social media and the internet in general, when we get to be a healing/learning community. All the best from Brazil! 🥰
This honestly proves that "when one door closes another one opens" 😍 You made a brave decision to show yourself anyway and took the opportunity that the Universe gave you - making the best of a 'bad' situation and that is so inspiring 🙏🏻🥳✨ Bravo 👏🏻 (I also have a sweater that i love and wear regularly 😂 Plus there are celebrities that purposefully wear the same clothes to thwart the paparazzi from making money off stalking them constantly) 😜
hey Kjersty! I was expecting smth much worse😂 really did not find the interview cringy, thought Ryan looked a bit tired that's all🤓 and love the pretty pink color on you 👌🍑
Junket interviews used to be more flirtatious. I remember Ben Affleck used to have a recurring gag with this one French-Canadian interviewer that is a bit uncomfortable to watch in retrospect. Anne Hathaway had one involving a proposal from an interviewer as well.
Congrats on your YT milestone. 🎉🎉His sweater isss cute. He seems shy but looked like the bedroom eyes were brought out by you. I hope you laugh at this, I see he scratches his head with his middle finger. 🤔. “Silence” is something I learned about and yet I’ll still bLab on when it’s done to me.
"Let them talk" is a great pro tip for any interview. You also need to learn when to stick to your plan (next question) and when to skip some prepared questions, let the people speak their minds, adapt, and follow them with ad hoc questions. Here you actually did that, but it backfired because it was a bit awkward from the start. It's not easy to ask a personal question (even if it relates to the movie or their character) in a way to not make them feel bad if they don't want to answer or don't know how... It's like a dance, a bit of push and pull, sensing each other. Some are more rigid, others are more playful by nature, so it's good to study each person beforehand (not just their background and interesting stuff, but also how they behave in the interviews). For example, I've heard from one radio journalist who did many interviews about one particular actor who is known to be very grumpy until he had his coffee. This guy learned the hard way because his first interview went horribly wrong, but the next time he met this actor it went great. So it's not just about feeling simpatico or not, there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes you can't know about and some people can keep them apart and others bring that to the interview (workplace). That shows the level of experience and professionalism on their part. As a side note, I've been publishing my articles from 15 years of freelancing in a blog, so I can relate. It's interesting to relive some moments and see how you have grown and on the other side share your past with the audience who (in your case) is interested in archive footage of certain celebrities and see how they have changed. Ryan in particular was typecast at the start of his career and now we can see how incredibly versatile he is. Also in the interviews, he's usually playful and charming, but also quite sarcastic (soulmates comment is a good example), which can get confusing if you are not aware or paying close attention. He seems like a great guy who is not afraid to laugh at himself. I personally don't think this was a bad interview. It's a gem because we got to know his style better after that and we can see he was always thoughtful, no matter the questions he got. But I do agree it's not usable for mainstream media because it does not have good highlights and it's not shallow enough for quick bites they are looking for from the entertainment reporters.
Ryan: "the interview that made me want to quit acting" 😅😅😅
Did he say that?
@@SistoActivitatemAtmno😂
@SistoActivitatemAtm No, it's a joke referencing Kjersti's title for an old Blake Lively interview she posted.
LOL
That's very funny

You’re adorable. It is so comforting to know am not the only person who does embarrasing stuff, smart people like you do it too sometimes, lol.
You are so sweet.
He’s a total sweetheart! Have a look at his interviews with Alison Hammond they’re hilarious 😂 he probably thought you were cute too 😍
LOL, It was a "gangster movie", and the questions were about his romcoms. I get why he was not happy at all with the line of questioning. But, we are human, and we make mistakes! It's cool that you can be open about it.
Ha ha thank you. His character was actually pretty romantic in the gangster movie. Lol
Kjersti, Love your honesty and transparency. At min 8:05 when asking Ryan about if he remembered his first romantic moment, he uses his middle finger to push the hair over his ear. Body language says he’s not so nice. My H O. Congratulations on your award ✨
Ha ha ha
I want to see the interview with Ryan but with the sweater part. Lol 🙏 👏👏👏
Same
Never would have thought you were flirting at that point. Thanks for sharing. A lot of this is not only entertaining but also useful. With how you divulge your interviewing techniques so openly, I wouldn't be surprised if you started gathering an even larger following just from that (which may make it worth to create a program/course at some point).
Thank you for your openness, it is very endearing and inspiring!
I have been LOVING your content! Thank you for being your wonderful self, and keep up the awesome work! 😊
Thank you so much!!
AWEEEE...Congrats on the TH-cam Award!!
Thank youuuu
I love that you set the scene. Really enjoying your channel. Thank you ❤
Thank you!!
lol OMG - poor you! At the end of the day it's a lesson and honestly - what's not to love about Ryan Gosling?!
ha ha so true
Magnus is cuter, anyway! 😉Such a fun video; love hearing about your 'behind-the-scenes' thoughts in these interviews! I didn't think the interview with Gosling was awkward, but more that the questions you asked him were not questions he was used to getting. You asked him for more personal details about himself, and he seemed like someone who was uncomfortable talking about his real personal feelings, rather than business. But I love how you always ask them for some little personal details, instead of just the usual movie fluff.💜
He totally flipped off the camera!!! 😂 8:06
wow to your point about putting interviews on youtube instead of selling it to big companies or whatever.
i think it's so so so important.
I get so bored with most questions about their movie- I think MOST times the art can speak for itself.
and so on and so on
Love how you owned this experience!
Thank you
Hahaha the cringggeee😂 Thank you so much for being brave enough to share with us 😁
Awwww its not that bad at all hunny ❤❤ I think its a sweet and vulnerable moment
Are you German?
@@tiannakester3422She is Norwegian.
Love all your interviews! Keep them coming!!!!!! Congrats on all the success!
Your NEW CAREER IS BORN!!!
Thank you!!
I dont think it was embarrasing..it was cute..like you were on a date 😂❤..love from Slovenia
Aw, thank you
hahaha I love that you shared this! I can't blame you. He's so cute! haha
Congratulations on your 100K subscribers 🎉 great videos!
Thanks so much!!
I completely agree. The best interviewers listen.
I remember a cringe moment with a guy that was a big lead singer of a band that was popular in Seattle in the early 2000s and I had given him vocal and performance training. He was only a couple years older than me, and it was hard not to crush on him, but I tried to remain professional then he invited me out to see the band play and I showed up, and thought he was singing a song straight to me and the lyrics sounded like they were about me (in my head apparently) and when he got off stage to sit down, he didn’t even acknowledge or recognize me. the next time I saw him in a professional setting he didn’t realize I had even come out to see them play and told me about a girl who thought his songs were about her 😂 I was so embarrassed and it helped me to realize that sometimes our romantic fantasies are simply in our head and it helped bring me back down to earth lol that his job was to make the ladies want him and think he wanted us back 😅
Oh no!! But thank you for sharing. Sounds pretty horrible. 😱
Ryan is the best! You must be lucky to interview him 😮❤
OMG!!! At first i thought you were exagerating, but gosh!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awwww! You're adorable. It's okay. We've all been there. I bet if he watches he'll understand, even if not... 😂 it's a long time ago and we all had a good laugh 😃 ❤
Ha ha thank you
Everyone’s been there! Their job is to be charming so he wouldn’t fall for that once in a while 😂❤❤❤ it helped you become a pro and do an even better job with your next interviews.
So true 😃
I think you're absolutely lovely. There is no way I could do what you do. Thanks for sharing. ♥
thank you!
Ive followed your work since 2017, and I love it so much!
Thank you for sharing this lovely but akward interview with Ryan. ❤😅
That's awesome. Thank you so much for sticking around.
That was cool! You have Ryan Gosling’s voice saying directly to you, “Maybe we are soul mates.” He didn’t have to add that last part in. Fun experience! You go, girl! 😂
Thank you
You are such and an interesting an humble person, I love watching your videos ! x from France
Well done Kjersti!! So well deserved!
I saw the Barbie movie for the first time this weekend. Today I will watch it for the third time. Ryan was so good in it. He is definitely perfect for the Ken role.😊
You are so sweet! Congratulations on your TH-cam plaque! A Canadian fan and new subscriber
Thank you!!
Cringe or not, your so, sweet, Kjersti!!! Your boyfriend is just so, cute, too. Love you, both. Blessings 💜 V
Haven't seen Gangster Squad, but it sounds like a very romantic movie. Great questions 😂❤
Congratulations on your TH-cam Plaque.
Congratulations on your 100K subscribers award! 🥳🎉🎆
Thank you so much 😀
Your comments at the end of this video are so so insightful. 🥰
It’s great a positive can come from a negative! Kindness always wins! 💞🌟🌼
omg I smiled. Love your stories
Congratulations on 100k subscribers! Came here from Spider's channel just today and already watched 5 videos.
This honestly proves that "when one door closes another one opens" 😍 You made a brave decision to show yourself anyway and took the opportunity that the Universe gave you - making the best of a 'bad' situation and that is so inspiring 🙏🏻🥳✨ Bravo 👏🏻
(I also have a sweater that i love and wear regularly 😂 Plus there are celebrities that purposefully wear the same clothes to thwart the paparazzi from making money off stalking them constantly) 😜
I thought he was more awkward than you!
He looks like he’s had a long day of doing promo for the film.
@@biancamichelle11 yes I agree he looks tired.
I fell for Ryan in The Gray Man.... he was so good in this movie. I have watched the ending a zillion times 😍
Congratulations on achieving over 100K🎉
He looks kinda shy in this interview. Cute :3
Oh I love these stories !! Thx.( tak)
Glad you like them!
@@Flaawsometalktack / tak!!!
He’s still my romantic hero, even with his new puffy cheeks!
Lol
hey Kjersty! I was expecting smth much worse😂 really did not find the interview cringy, thought Ryan looked a bit tired that's all🤓
and love the pretty pink color on you 👌🍑
Ha ha you are too nice.
Congratulations on the play button! You deserve it Kjersti 😊 thanks for sharing this story 😂
Thank you! 😃
Congrats on the subscribers 🎉
Shes not just roasting the actors but roasting herself as well 😂
Loved your hair on that video💛
Thank you.
Really enjoying your channel
Thank you so much
Junket interviews used to be more flirtatious. I remember Ben Affleck used to have a recurring gag with this one French-Canadian interviewer that is a bit uncomfortable to watch in retrospect. Anne Hathaway had one involving a proposal from an interviewer as well.
Oh my God. Yes, that Ben Affleck interview was just bananas
That interview made me smile for some reason 😂
Thank you
LOL! This is great 😅
Lol I’m not an interviewer but I feel like I’ve been there 😂
Ha ha
Congrats on your YT milestone. 🎉🎉His sweater isss cute. He seems shy but looked like the bedroom eyes were brought out by you. I hope you laugh at this, I see he scratches his head with his middle finger. 🤔. “Silence” is something I learned about and yet I’ll still bLab on when it’s done to me.
Ha ha yeah that’s funny.
