You're clearly very bright. It amused me that you thought you were having a heart attack when you brushed the hand ( a bit slow on the uptake as we say) ;P
I still question the notion of the immorality of the transgender movement, even though I have not direct involvement in the argument as it were. I also question Israel's continuation of killing and displacement of local Palestinian people which is still happening. Don't go too far the other way. I don't hate Jews but I do resent the continued incivility of the Israeli state and that surely means behaving obligingly towards international law and social mores, mores that were created in no small part as a result of the holocaust. There is inhumanity on both sides.

no clickbait, this story is actually WOWING.
what a brilliant person... I'm not even exaggerating, Maia's story needs to become a movie. not only did she experience some of the most outlandish situations I've ever heard of in such a consentrated amount of time, but also - her story is in so many aspects the quintessential eye-opener of our time. and it seems that she really took the time to wrestle with all of these different ideas and analyse them all the way to the oher end of them, to be able to explain them so eloquently.
I'm so glad you gave her story a platform! I love that you could tell her message was very different from the rest. I'd love to hear more of the layers of everything she's seen and been through. what a tale...

Since then I've lived and worked in a couple of third world countries and have noticed the higher incidence of people carrying obvious infirmities. Often with great bravery and fortitude. Soon I'll be going back to a place currently involved in a shooting war. I grew up in the bush, I've seen the reality of what a high velocity slug does to living flesh and bone.

It's so interesting when she talks about people in the Middle East assuming she was male based purely on her clothing, instead of her physical appearance. During the American Civil War, a number of women disguised themselves as men so they could enlist and fight. It always seemed improbable that they could pass themselves off as men just by cutting their hair and wearing a uniform. The explanation I usually heard was, "Well, back then, most people had never seen a woman in trousers, so they didn't question it." After listening to Maia, that makes so much more sense.

When I first learned about genderism and took a deep dive into it, I started to feel alarm for my gay and lesbian and Aspie friends (I am undiagnosed but believe myself to be Aspie); and relief that none of this genderism woo was being taught when we were kids. Not many 25 year old have the awareness, critical thinking and oral communication skills that Maia has. I hope far more people watch this video and follow her other social media accounts. Thank you Andrew. You do an excellent job on this heretics channel. Great idea.

its highly likely that adoration caused the seed of homophilic tendancy especially in combination of wanting to advocate and protect. A smart person could research things beyond webMD and requiring firsthand experience to gain understanding-smart people adopt 3rd person learning and avoid the whole mess. An intuitive person would get social nuance of what 'crush' means. This is impressive in the PR speak that genZ has grown up (with the internet) pushing exaggerated speech patterns that fill time with repetitive definitions and increase word count that sounds polished without adding anything extra to plot. That, shes very good with. And i do hope she gets and keeps a platform that can advocate to prevent others from following this path. But then again, even if someone like her existed at the time she was little...she would not have had the skills to find and learn from them second hand.

I love Maia. She's right. Gays are just never safe. We're either too queer for people who hate queerness, or we're not "queer and inclusive" enough for these ideologues.
I'm gay, I'm only attracted to men, and I don't want to sleep with transmasculine people because I know they aren't men and that they are actually medically masculinized women, but I'm not allowed to say that since the major social narrative is that they ARE men, regardless of their true biology. Men are only the natural thing and I won't accept a substitute, but I'll get attacked if I refuse them for this reason.
It is just never okay to be gay.

Look im a gay trans man with a cis male partner, the issue that comes up between some gay people and some trans people is no trans person takes issue with "i dont wanna date trans men" its the "they arent men" bit that gets people up in arms.
Plus its also just kinda weird to announce your sexual preferance both me and my partner are masc4masc gays, but if we went around saying i dont date or sleep with twink becquse they are too fem for me people would think thats equally as weird to announce. Its just announcing your sexual perferance that people find weird.
My issue is that some LGB people qre okay dating/sleepimg with trans people but some people online who share your viewpoint decided they know my partners sexuality better and say hes bi despite the fact hes a completely homosexual man.
Both sides can exist, you can be gay and not date trans people and you can be gay and date trans people.

To be fair, it is not considered acceptable to be straight or male or female any more, which is why people do all sorts of mental gymnastics to avoid being such an awful thing...like say they are a trans man dating a gay cis man and saying they are in a homosexual relationship. That just blows my mind! No, sweety, you are a straight woman dating a straight man. The need for the charade is astounding. No one pretends not to be gay. They do pretend they are. That tells you that it is preferable, not the victim.

She's an amazing & dropping a bomb, a finale... really? This is her own experience, it in no way implies anything except her. I am glad she had it & figured things out but no, it's no bomb of real information. From her standpoint there are no transsexuals, no one suffers from dysphoria. She did not experience dysphoria, she experienced her body & ppl assuming she was a younger male. It in no way is the same. Transsexuals experience this as well yet it doesn't stop. I know because I'm a female combat veteran. I do support detransitioners but w the pressure online to stay relevant some only make statements based on them alone. They completely get the affirmation part, which is great, but go from there blindly as if no one else could have a differing life.

I love how half this story is just a gay coming out story. 12 year old girl is baffled by fluttery feeling for girls, and hasn't the foggiest notion what they are. Reminds me of a lot of books I've read where budding sexuality was just met with innocent confusion. That's how story and TV used to portray childhood. From the perspective of actual kids. Nowadays romance - even in kids shows - seems to be written from the perspective of adults. Where you instantly call it a crush, love, being in love, being boy or girl crazy. It didn't used to be like that. Our view as a society of what "sexual awakening" is has been so warped. It's supposed to be innocent and gradual. It's not supposed to be so...weaponized. Politicized. So immediately sexualized. I truely think kids these days are being preyed upon by society. It took me until I was 19 to accept being gay. I needed that time to decide for myself, learn for myself, that's what I was. Having millions of people defining you for you is uncomfortable and crazymaking. Brainwashing.
Some of her experience could be from the autistic perspective. She comes across like that. Reminds me of the 90's quintessential lesbian. Well spoken, dresses like Matt Smith's Dr. Who, befriends boys as a child instead of girls and gets along with them better. Really lovely and intellectual she is, truely. Then the rest of the interview is a window into modern life and culture I've never heard about before. I've never been out of the country. I don't think I can comprehend a war zone. Or even a culture that's so "homosocial" as she coins it. And losing friends to such horror. I think most Americans will never understand. I remember reading Persepolis as a child and it being my first look at real life, non fiction, in a similiar vein. Where growing up in a different culture (and a different country) makes all the difference. Maia learned a lot, willingly, from her time abroad. It's an incredible story.

It's about a young woman thinking there is something seriously physically wrong with her so she goes to see a doctor... And is told what feels like a medical emergency is really just her being in love for the first time. Exactly what's at the beginning of this video.

Reminds me of myself as a female teenager. I was a tomboy, even asked my Mum when I was in primary school why I wasn’t a boy. Their lives looked easier to me then. I rarely wore dresses and skirts. I got on really well with the boys and this is the same today at 59 years old. So many women don’t love themselves and see other confident women as threats or they’re jealous or something I don’t really know, I’m presuming as I felt those feelings in high school and decided that I didn’t want to be like that. I can’t believe that women like that haven’t changed from high school. Anyway what I really wanted to say is thank God I was born in the 60s and I could simply be a child without my primary school teacher offering me a binder…….shocking! This is all so wrong nothing should be touched until the child is a legal adult, full stop! The support should be there, of course but hormones, surgery and one way encouragement to trans physically should not be entertained until adulthood and even then is 18 ok?

I was riveted from start to finish and I would like to thank you Andrew for doing this interview and Maia for being so intelligent, courageous and honest. It's a wonderful story finally because it is learning how to find yourself in an increasingly toxic social media world. Of course at the same time it raises the vital question of where we are going with social media and its concomitant lies and magical thinking. We seem to be going head-on into chaos, but I guess that if we don't destroy our planet, our sacred values, some sort of order will eventually arise out of this psychotic virus. A lot of these situations could be stopped if young autistic people were taught how their autism affects them, research is showing that autistic females' brains are more wired in a male way and vice-versa, they are much more likely to be gay or bi-sexual and they won't feel that they can relate to the neurotypical gender binaries because they aren't neurotypical. The average life expectancy in the UK for an autistic person is 38 in part due to the co-occurring condition of epilepsy but a lot of people end their own lives. This suicidality is being used to medicalise young autistic people instead of people doing the work to make the world less traumatising and more inclusive for them, it makes me sick.

No offence intended but I think there is much about "the autism spectrum" concept that stems from a whole other set of misguided ideology.
Maia is clearly an incredibly intelligent, articulate and capable woman. I think it speaks volumes when a society invents constructs to categorise humans according to how well they do or don't fit within the framework of behaviour and thinking that we've been programmed to accept as normal.
Maia certainly exhibits uncommon intellect and nature. I don't see that this has made her vulnerable. Seems very gifted and capable to me.

Listening to Maia speak about how men in the Middle East "believed that she was male"- something important seems to be missing in that telling. I think she's missing an element of human nature- we pity the unfortunate among us. These men probably looked at this "boy" with small hands, an effeminate voice, a round body and felt pity/ embarrassment for him. She didn't pass as a normal, healthy man so much as the men were really compassionate towards what they probably considered to be a defective boy. I can't see trans identified females surviving in a secular culture among masculine men.

Thank you for this insightful interview. I have a paediatric nursing background. And have always felt that the whole trans issue comply undermines the few unfortunate individuals that are truly born intersex who need our empathy and understanding. I am totally with Professor Sir Robert Winston in that you cannot change your sex and like it or not XX =female and XY =male. Most of gender confusion can be the result of autism and homosexuality.
I was especially interested as I lived and worked in the Middle East where the hatred is often palpable. People without that lived experience have absolutely no idea what they are talking about., especially queers for Palestine who make complete fools of themselves.

Well, Israel is pretty traditional. High marriage rates, and people try to protect their children. Lefties don't have children as much, and love to abuse kids, ie steralizing kids, or like Vaush defending CP.
Right wingers think Israel has a right to defend themselves, lefties think Jewish people should allow muslims to murder them and kill their kids. It's why the left cheered Hamas raping and killing women in the Oct attack, while the right was against it.

    • @ressljs
      @ressljs 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

Yeah, right wingers get labeled "mid-century Germans" if they are simply not big fans of Jews or Israel. And I've known quite a few that I'd describe as being "A bit skeptical of Jewish loyalties." But except for one, who I think was a literal Klan member, it's not something they talk about a lot and it's certainly not a big part of their identity. But leftists can be raging antisemites who do make Jew hating part of their identity, and yet someone the conservative who doesn't think we should be blindly supporting and sending billions to Israel is the real problem.

@@Jianju69 I know I sounded like I was describing myself, but not exactly. I am loosely pro-Israel. I think they've been a good ally, and if I somehow found myself in the middle east, I hope it would be Israel, because I'm one of the people that might get chucked off a building. So I'm OK with aid, especially when there's mutual benefits. Still, it takes me aback how limitless our support to Israel is, and not allowed to ask if the current leadership is really acting in their nation's best interest (much less our own). But as a middle aged, white conservative, if I'm not careful how I say that, people jump to assuming I'm saying "(Very bad German Man) was right!" I've got friends who are "No aid to Israel!" Doesn't mean they hate those Jews or wants to see them destroyed, they just don't think it's our job to foot the bill. And they seem consistent because they say the same thing about Ukraine.

Maia, idk if this is something you need to hear or if you'll even see this. You mentioned that sometimes people tell you that God was watching out for you on October 7th, but that just brings up distress over if He was watching out for your friends or not. As a religious person, I believe that when God intervenes in situations like yours, it isn't because one person is good and one person isn't it's because someone has things that still need to be accomplished. And it might not have even been that. We have free will. Maybe your sober driver backing out was God intervening, and maybe that was just your friend choosing to back out. Either way, I think you are using your voice in a great way and doing a really good thing.

I really hope you'll gain much more exposure on social media, you make so much sense.
btw it's really sad that your friends cut you off. I get it if people who directly have skin in the conflict need space from people with the opposite opinion for a while, but activists from the west? that's nonsense, honestly.
