Thank you so much, this was the same problem I had on my 2002 dodge ram. The voltage on my battery was under 3 volts. I was looking for a way to disconnect the under hood light, when I saw your video. I didn't know this could drain the battery, but my light was hanging like yours. I disconnected the light , charged the battery, back on the road. I got a new light from Amazon. I was getting ready to do a battery drain test by removing the fuses, but this was the problem.
Thank you for this video. Tells me everything I need to know. My 2 brand new batteries were way under 1 volt. Not good. Charge was so low that my smart charger wouldn't charge them until I put jumper cables on for about 5 minutes. It's insane that there's a gravity powered off/on switch but not a low voltage switch. I'm going to look for a better light. Maybe a bright LED with a manual switch. Every light in my 2007 Ram turns off by itself if left on when the ignition is off . To my knowledge this is the only light that doesn't.
