and, chris suffers from stage fright which she helps with. If yall will notice he looks at her A Lot, she told him you just sing to me, and the rest of the world can just listen in. True meaning of Love
This song actually helped me overcome my alcoholism. I hadn’t heard it before this version, and it shook me to the core. It helped me realize my wife was better than any alcohol, and she was the cure for all of my pains. I recently lost my wife, but hanging on to the love we had keeps me off of the bottle.

I swear God made these two for each other. They compliment each other so well. How he looks at her while singing and she doesn’t take her eyes off of him.
He has one of the best voices and he makes it seem so effortless. This is one of my favorite songs. Also, his singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, absolutely blew me away and brought me to tears...brought the players to tears too. Amazing
Chris Stapleton was the lead singer for the Bluegrass band "The Steeldrivers." If you enjoyed this you should check out his live performance of "Sometimes I Cry" at the Bing Lounge, as well as his live performance of "I Was Wrong." On the latter, he plays an amazing guitar solo that showcases his skill. He also did an impromptu performance of James Brown's "It's a Man's World" when a band spotted him in the audience and asked him on stage. Stunning! I have yet to see or hear a performance of his that I didn't like.
I've been listening to The Steeldrivers and I didn't even realize. As I have not been living under a rock, I have been aware of Chris from this cover, but I have not sought out any of his other work. I'm going to go check out your recommendations now.
@@Pylodictisolivaris He was their lead singer and primary songwriter for their first two albums, so anything after that is someone else (Gary Nichols, and then Kelvin Damrell).
I love seeing her so emotionally charged over this performance. Music does this to me as well. I have 43 years of sobriety and I love these types of songs.
He has such a wide range of songs. Some more bluesy like this, others more what you’d expect from country. My favorite part about him is that he sticks to a more old school style country, it has modern aspects, but he doesn’t jump right into the really poppy sort of country music on the radio. I will say, his best work is when he was with the steel drivers, songs like heaven sent or where rainbows never die are some of my favorites. That is definitely a modern bluegrass style, which bluegrass is a type of country music. I love it.
Ive said it for years, and saw Chris live this week. Im CONVINCED having his wife on stage is 80% of the soul he puts in his voice. Amazing. If any of you get the chance to see CS live, GO!
Like a lot of folks, I show up for Elizabeth's facial expressions and body language. :) I could watch the videos with no sound. lol They always make me smile.
That's his wife doing the harmonizing. They are magic together. I'm so happy you finally discovered Chris. Also, his wife is quite the vocalist in her own rite.
So after discovering Elizabeth I’m falling for her raw and honest emotions I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so bare, it’s extremely attractive as a quality and equally rare. Her knowledge only adds another layer to her attraction.
I never would have made the connection to Dio, but I hear what you're talking about! I always describe him as "If Aretha Franklin was a white dude from Kentucky."
I've seen Chris live twice, the first time it was Him on lead guitar and vocals, the drummer, the bass player, and his wife on backing vocals and tambourine. That simple four person band played the best damn concert I've ever seen.
This comment, exactly....the first time I saw him was in 2016 in Sioux City, South Dakota at the Hard Rock.. he turned a big stage into an intimate ring of soft light for him, Morgan, and his small band. The second time was at Century Link, it was still good, but nothing like that first night...it was beautiful. I was supposed to see him again last year at the Iowa State fair, and it would have been a similar venue, but GD covid
A great added layer to this performance is watching Chris look stage left so often; he's looking at his wife, who's singing backup. He's singing this great song to her.
When he sang this song with Justin Timberlake at the CMA awards I don't think I've ever seen anyone enjoy themselves as much as they did singing a song
That performance was an entire band getting on the same vibration and just glow in the bliss of sitting in the pocket together. One of the magical unforgettable moments that musicians want to drown in every time they get a chance. Just beautiful.
I’m not a country guy but he made me a fan. Took my ex to a concert in town and to this day is the best live voice I’ve ever heard. He’s even better than the studio recordings. It’s unreal.
Elizabeth, I could watch your reaction videos ALL DAY. Yes, your analytical breakdown of singer's style is nothing short of amazing. But what does it for me is the way you so INTENTLY listen. Watching your eyes roam from the video so that you just hear the singer and not watch his actions. Man, it just floors me! I have never seen anyone LISTEN that intently. Yes, we all hear the voices and the music! But you are on another level ! Have been a really big fan of yours ever since I first watched one of your reaction videos! Plus the fact that you delve into just about all genres of music makes your channel that much more special. KEEP DOING YOU GIRL. Your subscribers here LOVE IT!
I adore your reactions. Your love for talent in any genre just makes me so happy! I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your appreciation and knowledge with us.
He actually still has stage fright. That's why is wife still sings with him most of the time. Just watched him in Nashville and he went almost 3 hours without a break. Incredible show.
She’s so knowledgeable in all aspects of music. Not just vocals. Even counting time signatures. I’m a bass player former drummer and still can’t always count. More of a feel for me but. Yeah. She’s incredible musically
You make me smile so much my face hurts. Your joy is so infectious. Keep it up. Your channel will grow. People need more options of entertainment that isn't preaching at them constantly. Thanks you.
Ya know why youre great? Despite the success, money, good looks, charisma, etc. Youre still absolutely gushing like a fan girl when you see true talent. That true love foe the art of it is something you can't fake. You and Chris Stapleton rule. You have a blast out there and its infectious.
Happy International Women's Day to Elizabeth the charismatic matriarch 😆 I must say country isn't my usual jam but you know your way in making things interesting and fun. Much love ❤
Quick comment while rewatching it: Re: The reason for the head movement, that you were unsure about: He's doing it to get that sound that echoes his guitar fingering. It causes the soft tissues of the inside oft he mouth (and throat) to (for lack of a better word) jiggle, which creates that particular sound quality. (It's something that I do, also, when singing, so I'm pretty familiar with the effect.) Great video, as always. Loved both your react and analysis. And I absolutely adore this song.
My childhood best friend’s father wrote this song. Seeing this reaction video just brought me to tears! Such a great song! It’s been amazing to see what a revival Chris Stapleton brought to this timeless country song by Dean Dillon. 🙏
Hi Elizabeth. For many years Chris wrote but did not sing because he didn't think he was a good enough singer. He also has a fear of singing in front of people. The lady singing harmony is his wife Morgane. She helped convince him he could sing. He frequently sings directly to her as that relaxes him. Dean Dillon who cowrote the song wrote a number of big hits for George Strait. When he finished this song he took it directly to George thinking it would be a big song for him. George loved the song but said it wasn't really a fit for him and he passed. So David Allan Coe recorded it. My two favorite performances of the song are Chris here with a soul/blues version and the man who did it after Coe, the late great George Jones with his more classic country version. Loved your reaction as always.
The interesting thing about Chris to me, aside from his obvious incredible talent, is while categorized, as a country artist, and a bluegrass artist, this dude does a lot of just straight up Delta Blues style delivery. He's am amazing vocalist. As another suggetion of his, I believe from this same show, is "Sometimes I cry". It's AMAZING! Thank you Elizabeth.
Wow... That's amazing.... and his wife harmonizes with him so effortlessly.... you barely notices she's there, but she adds volumes to his sultry country blues. And your reactions.... priceless.... yeh, you're definitely feeling the song as you hear it.
I would literally listen to her review absolutely anything. Me...driving home from the store with her in the passenger seat...reviewing every turn I make, the speed, how I brake...I don't care. I just want to hear her review more things.
First off I have to say I love your enthusiasm. It's so much joy and love that's showing. Just awesome. And about Chris...the first time I heard him I immediately thought of Al Green actually.
Ridiculous. This "song" is 'I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James and that's why it's good; because it's not country. Putting a cowboy hat on and singing some mullet head's lyrics to it doesn't make it country anymore than putting a cowboy hat on and talking about cattle makes you a cowboy.
"Remember this, son, if you forget everything else. A poet is a musician who can't sing. Words have to find a man's mind before they can touch his heart, and some men's minds are woeful small targets. Music touches their hearts directly no matter how small or stubborn the mind of the man who listens." (Patrick Rothfuss) I can't carry a tune in a bucket, and most of the details about singing go over my head. But you know when something touches your heart, and it's wonderful to see it touch someone else's. Thanks for sharing = )
When she talks about an alcoholic finding love and realizing that's what they had been looking for the whole time... It's my story. I was a raging alcoholic. He had been sober 15 years. I found him while I was very drunk one day. I knew at that moment I was going to marry him. He started taking me to AA meetings, and 18 months later we married. We played this song at our wedding. Life in sobriety is good. ❤️
I thoroughly enjoy watching someone experience such pure joy over such a variety of music. I like to think I listen to just about everything, and I am discovering new stuff every time I watch this channel.
If ever there was a song with repeated "wait for it" moments, this would be one. Other have already shared that that is his wife, he has really bad stage fright, she began singing with him, obviously because she is also awesome, but you will see they look at each other a lot, having her there to look over at helps him get through it, quite well. The are a beautiful sweet couple to watch together. You HAVE to watch him and Justin Timberlake to together live at the CMA awards, it is incredible.
We just released merchandise! Check out the full line-up here: thecharismaticmerch.com

The woman he is harmonizing with is his wife and the person who encouraged him to start singing his own songs.
She is Morgane Stapleton, Chris's wife. Perfect harmony. Check out Chris on "I was wrong" At Austin City Limits!
Yeah great song and vocals too
The guitar solo on that one was NICE!!🎸
I just love her enthusiasm and how she does her reviews
Its a fresh breath of air . Her love of music shines through so much
Her excitement is so cute
I can't wait to see all her reviews
Wish I could meet a lady like her
Connecting Chris Stapleton and Dio is why I love this channel.
Please react to Chris Stapleton - Sometimes I Cry - live from the Bing Lounge. It's just Chris and his guitar. It's AMAZING!!!
Necessity. 👏 👏 👏
My favorite sing of his for sure!
That is one of his best songs ever live recorded, in my opinion. I'd love to see a video on this performance.
This!!
I can't stop playing "you should probably leave" by Chris.
I swear God made these two for each other. They compliment each other so well. How he looks at her while singing and she doesn’t take her eyes off of him.
Agreed 10000% and she helped him on business side tremendously from all you read. He's just damn...and her voice is an angel
He has one of the best voices and he makes it seem so effortless. This is one of my favorite songs. Also, his singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, absolutely blew me away and brought me to tears...brought the players to tears too. Amazing
I 💯 agree
Watching people react to Chris is one of my favorite things to watch on TH-cam
It's seriously my new past time 😅
"Sometimes I Cry" Elizabeth. That's the one. That's the one you'll pause 100 times. So much blues virtuosity in it. Chills and maybe tears. No joke.
Listening to Chris for the first time and singing "Tennessee Whiskey " is like your first car being a Ferrari
I'm obsessed with watching your facial expressions when reacting to new music. The passion and love just shines through and you can't contain it.
Fr I just started watching her channel the other day and someone commented that her reactions are like a Disney character 😁
Congratulations buddy- you keep it up and keep listening for music that keeps you strong.
...kinda like " whiskey lullabye"
I always thought it was weird he's classified as country - his sound is the blues straight up.
If you do anything in a cowboy hat it is country, apparently.
He's from bluegrass search the steel drivers. They classify bluegrass as "country" which is beyond me.
I love it.
Country and the blues go hand and hand. He’s more reminiscent of classic country than modern country.
I consider him Americana as Jason Isbell. Who we also need Elizabeth to check out.
Dicen que Morgane es su hermana..no su esposa.
@@danielcontreras9896 THEY HAVE 5 CHILDREN (4 BOYS & 1 GIRL) TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!
You would enjoy Chris Stapelton's "Sometime I cry" BING LOUNGE performance.
Stunning performance
I think that's his worst song by far
An excellent choice
@@joshestess why is that?
Exactly
Unbelievable
So after discovering Elizabeth I’m falling for her raw and honest emotions I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so bare, it’s extremely attractive as a quality and equally rare. Her knowledge only adds another layer to her attraction.
I never would have made the connection to Dio, but I hear what you're talking about!
I always describe him as "If Aretha Franklin was a white dude from Kentucky."
That comparison is perfect. If only we could have heard them sing together.
That's the strangest thing I've ever heard AND 100% accurate lol
Listen to his stuff with the Jompson Brothers. You can hear it in the song "Ride my Rocket"
@Chris Stapleton go away troll 😈
Oh my god, I didn’t know that, that’s so damn sweet. Sorry to every other lady though 🤣
The pilot light is out and the basement is flooded.
I have a feeling there will be more Chris in her future ..... as there should be he is an American country/blues icon.
You dont listen to Chris, you feel him...
Lol yep looks like she felt him real good lol
When he sang this song with Justin Timberlake at the CMA awards I don't think I've ever seen anyone enjoy themselves as much as they did singing a song
Also gave rise to the comment that even Timberlake is more country than Florida-Georgia Line
Arguably one of the best performances of all time!
That performance was an entire band getting on the same vibration and just glow in the bliss of sitting in the pocket together. One of the magical unforgettable moments that musicians want to drown in every time they get a chance. Just beautiful.
One of my favorite performances ever, was this duo.
She needs to see that version!! It's one of the BEST live performances of ALL TIME! ❤❤❤
If you really want to be surprised you should listen to Chris singing "This is a man's world." Its remarkable.
100%%%%!!!!!!!!
I third this!!!!!
That saying a lot but gonna say as a regular Joe that might be the best it's definitely top 3
The performance of this song with Chris and Justin Timberlake is a work of art.
Amen to that! ❤ would love to see her review that one!!
Excellent review of an excellent version of an excellent song! Thank you for all you give to us, Elizabeth.
I adore your reactions. Your love for talent in any genre just makes me so happy! I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your appreciation and knowledge with us.
The women is his wife, she is his anchor. He's nervous on stage and she helps ground him.
That’s the cutest shit
Don't think I've seen Elizabeth crush that hard since the Haley Reinhart reaction.
She crushed pretty hard on Corey Taylor, also
Also devin townsend
What song by HR??!!
@@elinino5275 Creep (not you, that's the name of the song).
He started in blues/bluegrass with the steeldrivers, one of the most underrated bands ever
I love the way he's riffing...
Me: sip my moonshine knowin what's coming
Happy International Women's Day to Elizabeth the charismatic matriarch 😆 I must say country isn't my usual jam but you know your way in making things interesting and fun. Much love ❤
Hi Juliette, Happy International Women's Day to you too!!! ❤
@@kirbys1370 ❤
I wasn’t expecting to say this, but your reaction to the “IIIiiiIIIiiiIIIIIiiiIIIiiiiiii” is even better than the reaction to the “warm” run 😂
Quick comment while rewatching it:
Re: The reason for the head movement, that you were unsure about:
He's doing it to get that sound that echoes his guitar fingering. It causes the soft tissues of the inside oft he mouth (and throat) to (for lack of a better word) jiggle, which creates that particular sound quality. (It's something that I do, also, when singing, so I'm pretty familiar with the effect.)
Great video, as always.
true story??
im glad that you finally did a Chris Stapleton song but there are so many other songs. please continue to listen and react to him.
That moment when someone that truly understands vocals hears this song for the first time... that look on your face is why I watch these videos.
You have by far the best insight on singers and vocals I've heard in a very long time.
This song may not be his original but he owns it now. I love how amazing he is live because that's how I listen to all great musicians.
David Allen coe slays it but you go with this
@@jimdorsey2370 I have to go with this because I this is what I know. I never said your guy is bad.
@@jimdorsey2370 DAC & GEORGE ARE GREAT BUT CHRIS OWNS "TENNESSEE WHISKEY" NOW. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
Actually Etta James "owns" the medley. Go Listen to "I'd Rather Go Blind"
@@TexRodeoGirl SORRY BUT DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO IS RIGHT OR WHO IS WRONG?
The interesting thing about Chris to me, aside from his obvious incredible talent, is while categorized, as a country artist, and a bluegrass artist, this dude does a lot of just straight up Delta Blues style delivery. He's am amazing vocalist. As another suggetion of his, I believe from this same show, is "Sometimes I cry". It's AMAZING! Thank you Elizabeth.
Stapleton reminds me of Gregg Allman in the best possible way.
I normally. Hate live proformances vs studio. This one is clearer and deeper. A great choice to review
At about 6:27, she experiences what I call a “Staplegasm”. It’s a common reaction for first time listeners...
Amen to that!!
there were several to be sure, I think 8:38 somewhere around there, its like a FLoor Gasm from Nigthwish
You just put her into perfect perspective for all us guys longing for a girl like this. She seems so sweet, genuine and a little innocent.
First off I have to say I love your enthusiasm. It's so much joy and love that's showing. Just awesome.
And about Chris...the first time I heard him I immediately thought of Al Green actually.
One of the only actual country artists out today. I get chills every time I hear this song.
Ridiculous. This "song" is 'I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James and that's why it's good; because it's not country. Putting a cowboy hat on and singing some mullet head's lyrics to it doesn't make it country anymore than putting a cowboy hat on and talking about cattle makes you a cowboy.
his "i"s are the notes he always extenuates.
he sings country, rock , blues ,bluegrass, he does it all
Great point! Spot on.
"Remember this, son, if you forget everything else. A poet is a musician who can't sing. Words have to find a man's mind before they can touch his heart, and some men's minds are woeful small targets. Music touches their hearts directly no matter how small or stubborn the mind of the man who listens." (Patrick Rothfuss)
I can't carry a tune in a bucket, and most of the details about singing go over my head. But you know when something touches your heart, and it's wonderful to see it touch someone else's. Thanks for sharing = )
I really liked watching you do Chris Stapleton, Tennessee Whiskey. I went back and watched it like 5 times. LOVED YOUR REACTION.
Your reaction to this was amazing to watch. He is an incredible singer and to see you get so excited listening to him, was a joy to watch. Thanks
Chris Stapleton: *breathes*
Elizabeth: *swoons and faints*
Me too tho
I love how giddy you get when you hear the true legendary performances. I love your reactions!!
I love how he looks at his wife while he is singing. His wife sings backup for him in all of his songs.
