    I can't believe what I found inside the Engine of the Mustang GT. I won't be fixing the engine because of this, instead I'll either get a replacement or sell it. Also I show you my issues with the BMW 335, my progress on the Ferrari 360 and BMW i8 projects, and also a new addition to the fleet!

    I have a suspicion that the problem with the Mustang is a broken valve spring. This causes the valve to drop and tension to be removed from the rocker, which lets it fall out. You may be able to replace a valve spring without pulling the head.

    Have some1 hold the hood up even pry a lil bit. Get a long saw zall blade and cut the striker on the passenger side. The striker only bolts to the hood. So cutting it is no problem. It’s an easy replacement. My buddy just did the same exact thing on a 3 series, and it worked out great. He didn’t damage the hood at all. Same thing passenger side would not pop. After he cut the striker he got the hood open n found that the cable had slid off and that’s y it wouldn’t open. Good luck Sam!

    If the hood latch is anything like the 7 series the left side latch cable runs across the front of the radiator behind the grille. Just pull on that cable and it'll pop. My 05 745li had a broken latch inside the car and this is how I got into it to fix it. Good luck!!! Hopefully this works got you!

      I had a cable break on me. It had a plastic union and got brittle and broke after 15 years. It also didn’t help that it got hit in the front and the hood didn’t want to open right anyway, so the extra strain on the latching mechanism speed up it’s failure.

      Valve is stuck because it's bent, I've rebuilt and built so many of these 4.6/5.4s. timing guides are likely gone and the valve touched the piston, bent the stem, then knocked the rocker out. 75% of the ones i see the guides are gone because people hop in start it and take off.

    Breaking down that motor is actually pretty easy. If you do it, just remember, you can unbolt the passenger side exhaust manifold from the head because you can easily get to the bolts. The driver side, unbolt the exhaust manifold from the cat pipe so the manifold just comes out with the head.
    Also brakelabs is a good online spot for brakes(if they are still around, can't access right now on muh work computer). Got crossdrilled rotors and pads for "I think" $130.

    Sometimes you get lucky, I picked up an old 4.2L Audi V8 from 1993 with a timing belt that came out in 4 pieces. 4 over head cams, 32 valves, all aluminum engine with 2 distributors, one on the back of each cylinder head. Surprisingly no internal damage, now it's my my daily. I did a video of it on my channel, still have the belt pieces after dodging that bullet.

    I legit just finished doing a head gasket on my 2002 Mustang GT. You gotta take the radiator out too. Might as well do new timing chains. Also, based on my experience, you will also need to put in a better radiator, aftermarket exhaust headers, full intake, and a tune.

    Easiest way to open the hood, at the risk of some minor paint damage. Get a section of heavy gauge, right-angle iron fence post cut to the width of the hood. Get a length of flat copper bar, same length and bend it lengthways to form a right angle. Mix up some (O2N2CH2)3 and use that as a sandwich filler between the iron and copper angle bars. Some care needs to be taken during the mixing and filling steps. Place the bar across the front of the hood, then attach ignition coils and wires at each end of the bar, ensuring firm contact with your filler. Stand well back, apply a current to the igniters, and the hood will then be easy to open. This is a very simple solution to most BMW problems.

    On your ford pickup when I worked at the ford deal I had a ton of F series trucks with fuel leak that looks similar to what you have and it's from a fuel line on top of the tank that will have a perfectly round hole in it like a needle or something punctured it. Seems to always be someplace close to where the cab and the bed meet up. Only thing we could come up with why they are getting the holes is that some kind of buf is eating the lines.

    Raise the 335i on the lift and try to unlatch it manually with a long screw driver from underneath. Or you can try removing the left grille maybe you have better access to the latch. Sometimes the cable itself pops off the latch so only way to unlock it would be with a screw driver pressing on the arm where the cable connects.

  • @glennarnold3970
    @glennarnold3970 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    sam i just had a look at my 335i latch set up what looks like the problem with your latch is the hood cable joins into a joiner block and merges out as 2 cables i am guessing one of yours has broken or dislodged the rocker on the lock is hidden behind the lock plate and a cow to get to.1 if you can see the lock from the front of the underside of the hood you can get a thin piece of rod 1/16 diameter and put a right angle on the end about a half inch long and where the hood tang goes into the lock hook behind on the drivers side and turn anti clockwise and it should release the latch.2 where you see the cable on the drivers side under the fender follow it behind the headlight and where the cable joins the joiner block the longer cable is the passanger side grab that cable and reef on it and see if it opens it the outer cable may have come unhooked but the inner cable should still be connected as a panel beater this is what i would do good luck cheers from down under

    I think a lot of people like the Mustang because it's a type of car project anyone could get into and is a real world project even for the smallest budget. So it makes us very interested in it and cars of this type of money and power capability. You can drift it with a little welding on the diff and even make the engine have big power with a cheap forced induction. So much cheap after market support that makes it viable for the masses to actually look into doing. That's IMHO why people have a lot of interest in the Mustang.

  • @trevorpaine2393
    @trevorpaine2393 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The tire off liner out is the best way but you don’t want to pull on the cables the latch has a secondary release that a flat head screw driver can fit into take a really long skinny one . You slide the screw driver threw the rad support into the latch Accessing the secondary release

    • @trevorpaine2393
      @trevorpaine2393 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look up the latch on google and you can see the seconds release switch on the side of the latch it’s a small part that you click down
      I work in collision repair and this is a fairly common issue

    When these engines sit for a long time, some of them have a problem with the hydraulic dampeners for the valve train bleed down leaving a ton of gap between the valve and follower. Then,, when you turn over the engine, it sweeps the follower off the dampener and it just falls onto the cylinder head. As a 35 yr. Ford tech, I saw this many times...
