I'm talking about buying lot's of stuff, that seam to be good invest but turn out to be too much work for one. Stay save! Looking forward to some new awesome videos on your channel! Wish you all the best from Germany
I hear ya Sam. I've had some big losers too. Bought an old volvo 244. Ran when I got it home, then the ECU committed a watery suicide from a plugged water drain. Sold for a loss. Also bought a 2001 Audi Allroad. Beautiful car, but what a money pit! Sold for about half of what I had in it (never mind the ~25 hrs time I had in various fixes). But the worst was a beautiful 2004 Mini Cooper S. Paid $3k (it was worth $6k at the time) with a clean title, it ran and drove, but had some mechanical and cosmetic flaws, which I thought were about $400 to fix. Buzz...wrong answer! After replacing the harmonic balancer, I discovered the supercharger was bad, the valve gasket was bad, one of the plugs was stripped, mice were living behind the quarters, the control arm bushings were bad, the list was endless. So, I dug in and fixed it all, even had to do the supercharger twice (the first one was defective). While I was fixing the car, the market value of the thing plummeted, until I was way upside down on it. The nail in the coffin was it lost oil pressure at idle and it was none of the usual minor causes. So I threw in the towel and sold it for $2k. I figured out it cost me about $100/mile to drive it (when it ran). I loved that little car, but it hated me. The wife has made me swear never to buy a high-miles European car ever again. I think we're both happier that way...
I have one of these beautiful and unreliable beast but a 2014 model with the updated look, ie. updated LED headlights, iDrive, etc. No problem so far, love the drive but I know it's a timebomb before the engine blows up, so thinking of letting it go end of year. Any recommendation on where should i let it go? I know the dealership will definitely slaughter me but would selling it to carvana but a good idea?
What I gather on the 550i, if the valve guides and seals are the problem, what good is a new short block? How long will that last before it craps out again? If BMW redesigned the guides and seals they should have done a recall to install them before the engine blew.
Sam - you should e made a video or 2 of you going through the paces of checking it out . Like you showed us 2 minutes of in this video . That would recoup some cost right there then if you don’t think it’s worthy of a rebuild maybe sell - the 3k short block does sound like a valid option though!! That’s a heck of a nice car if repaired.

List some cars on “Cars & Bids”
Cost of doing business Sam. A hearse would be such a cool project if you can find the right base to start with.
"It smells kinda bad"... lol...
2020 is truly Bizarro World. Samcrac is actually selling cars.
Again I wish i had this much money to waste
Going online to scroll over hearses and buying one really sums up your car choices.
Funny as
Why not buy a working engine and just swap them?
Because they're all broken
Your little rap about your earbuds and your life was the funniest thing I've heard all day.
The last time my comment got this many likes I was caught dead!
Why sam? Why invest in money pits?
Better than smelly arm pits
ONE MILLION TH-cam SUBSCRIBERS CONGRATS! 🏁🏁🏁
First!! Not LOL
Mistakes only makes you more real in a picture perfect world! Thanks for sharing!
Samcrac the type of guy to hit 1 mil subs and make a 22 minute video about broken cars that we will never see on his channel again...
Long blocks include the cylinder heads. Everything except covers, intakes, sensors etc. Shortblock is just the engine block and rotating assembly.
What I gather on the 550i, if the valve guides and seals are the problem, what good is a new short block? How long will that last before it craps out again?
If BMW redesigned the guides and seals they should have done a recall to install them before the engine blew.
Did you check the engine ground. It will not start unless you put the jump box ground on the engine itself. It happened to me on a 335i.
Hello, I remember a video you made that suggested an OBD scanner. What scanner was that? Thanks in advance.
Pour oil with the spout at the top. it's farther from your target, but it doesn't glug as it pours.
Sam, you don't release enough videos, not even close.
We need MORE!
Sam, Congratulations on one million subscribers.
Thank you so much 😀
Sam - you should e made a video or 2 of you going through the paces of checking it out . Like you showed us 2 minutes of in this video . That would recoup some cost right there then if you don’t think it’s worthy of a rebuild maybe sell - the 3k short block does sound like a valid option though!! That’s a heck of a nice car if repaired.
