After 7 long years of utterly focusing on symptoms and keeping track of symptoms and food etc it is so hard to not do this especially when you believe that you are going to die all the time 😢 I’ve been through ALOT of traumatic things in my whole life but chronic illness is a whole other level of hell 😢

Hi Lisa, I'm sorry you've been through all that - chronic illness can be so very traumatic. I had a disagreement with someone I did a training course with when they scoffed at me saying long-term chronic illness is traumatic. For many I believe it really can be. It definitely was for me.
Yes it is hard to stop the habits once they are in place. I was a symptom checker and prodder, really hypervigilant and it takes practice and time to get out of that behaviour. I'd checked my stomach after food for 25 years, felt my food go down into my stomach, prodded and poked it and I never realised that I was triggering the stress response every single time and making things a lot worse. Working on the beliefs I had around my body and what it was capable of really had to be dealt with first. Because I believed my digestion was faulty and that I could end up in A&E any moment with chronic constipation (because I'd ended up in A&E before). We need to address this belief first.
Shifting our focus from symptoms takes time. I've worked with clients for whom it's taken a year to achieve this, and others for who it switches as soon as you tell them it's an issue. it took me ages to achieve it. Everything starts with awareness and my hope is to make people aware, so that awareness can start the process of undoing. Thank you, as always for sharing your experiences Lisa.

Lisa, I could have written this myself. This is exactly what I do and how I feel. After that long, it seems like it would be hard to move out of this state. Blessings to you on your journey to change the process. 💕

Hi Rachel. . I really appreciate your response to Lisa, as it applies to me as well. It’s definitely a challenge to do everything that keeps us from healing after such a long time doing exactly that. Thx so much for this video, extremely helpful. 💕

My mother was physically and emotionally abusive. She used the fear of death to keep me in line as a child. Today I'm on my 9th month of long covid. I truly believe all these fear tactics created a person who feels that can not get well. Like I would lose my identity that was defined throughout the years. It's amazing how hard wired the brain can get. I pray that anyone that feels stuck can free themselves out of this miserable feeling❤
