@Zeos, You won't believe the performance of these with an easy mod. Loosely fold a single Kleenex several times into a square and place inside between the felt and wood ear cup. The drivers in here are a beast and cleaning up the internal resonance of the raw wood cups turns these into the best closed headphones I've ever used.
2023 is right around the corner and still no vid of the open back version xD

Yeah honestly not everyone's rich enough to buy some $300 Headphones that'll break if I pinch it the wrong way or put them on my rack the wrong way. Hope fully the next gen will have M560 build quality...
I have to agree, the build quality concerning the headband, given that Monoprice have sorted out a number of issues with the original M1060"s is still putting me off purchasing this headphone. It appears whilst going all out to create a stunning planner driver they left the job of making the headband to a 13 year old with a box of Meccano.
Maybe if Monoprice cannot come up with a more sturdy and rigid design for the headband then hopefully an aftermarket company could produce something more appreciable especially for those who have already purchased these cans.

Bought the m1060c when they first came out and love them! I thought they were better than my m1060 as well, I even noticed that my m1060 drivers weren’t matched well when A/B testing. It seems like the m1060C quality control is better! They also handle eq well. Feathered them into my favorite response curve and now they’re my daily driver at work.
I kind of wish I'd watched this review back then, though I think I needed the extra 3 years of experience to know what I was looking for in a headphone. I spent too much time trying to get headphones that matched my loudspeakers; a fruitless endeavor. I just got the 1060c's a couple of days ago and I am very happy with them. Super comfortable, especially for how heavy they are. Now I need both the open-backed mod and a good stand, 'cause these cans are so heavy that they'll damage themselves if just sat on a desktop.
@@trog69 I bought a second pair for my home office. Did a simple mod of adding folded tissue into the wooden cup area behind the driver. Simply fold a kleenex in half several times to make a square, then remove the 4 screws and gently place the tissue and resecure the cap. I've also changed my dac/amp combo to the iFi Zen. Highly recommended.
@@garrettpeek3551 I'm afraid I wasn't paying attention and the nut and bolt assembly fell off one of the earcups. Waiting for a response to my asking for a couple of nuts/bolts (Cause they're tiny and I'll likely drop something again. )
Just now breaking in a pair of 1060c's and I already love them. Detailed without fatigue and very comfortable for being so fargin' heavy. They must have a stand because they will become damaged from the weight just by setting them on a desk. For $250 they're a great deal, but they demand a LOT of power.

Z, love all of your reviews. Between these, the M560s or the HDXXX from Massdrop. Mostly listening reggae, hip hop, jazz. Any recommendations between those? I have the M50x's already and love them.

These things are sooooo fucking good. I think they're on your wall, but if not they should. Everyone's on the 58X and 6XX, they need to be on these and the Fostex ModHouse. Those are the real value Gods.
For lovers of closed-back wooden headphones, I recommend the SIVGA SV003 with Brainwavz Sheepskin Leather pads installed. This combo is far better-sounding (and -looking) than the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x, which is Zeo's pick as the best sub-$150 closed-back headphone/pad combo. I'm curious how they would stack-up against the M1060C, which is over $200 more.

Man i want them but for all their problems, glued on pads is a deal breaker. Not being able to change pads on a $300 set they better never wear out.

Hey im not sure if you have heard of the company blue microphones but i have the pair of headphones that they make called the sadie, they have a $400 price tag and i think they would make a great video to show how they are, with my experience with them they have incredible sound and even have a built in audiophile amp which i think makes them really unique and interesting

Hey Zeos, I'm still trying to decide between getting an mk2 argon or an mk3 argon, is the mk3 significantly better?
So far the CB-1s remain my go to closed back. I compared them to a set of HE-4XX planars and the CBs just are more enjoyable to me and aren't as harsh on the trebble. Best $80 I spent.

So I got these in today. And I noticed the ear cups are ANGLED. So if the sound stage is coming from behind you, flip the cans around and flip your cables to the cans. Problem solved.
Did you get to find a compatible replacement headband for M1060C?

And have you had a chance to get the Openback covers to make this a openback?
My Gods ! I am so thankfull to Z for advising that headphone , i`m blown away with the sound of that thing and i mean the Open mod (just remove those wood sidepanels away) . I have never heard a phone that sound so freaking GooD ! and i do have some nice phones , Beyerdynamic DT250 , Sennheiser HD6XX , 58X and many more ..but those those killer monster super sound amazing ones Monolith M1060C a would never imaging a headphone could sound that awesome . What cha looking for ? Soundstage , details , outstanding resolution on top and bottom , quality resolving studio sound , deep sub bass , nice detailed rich textured mids , layering and superb instrument separation - u name it , it has it all , i swear it does , i'm in freaking shock , and funny part i got it on sale for 208$ Whaat !!?? Yes , just buy it and don't forget to remove those woodcups , its important ! What music i listen to? Everything quality from good electronic to techdeathmetal to nice aqustic to instrumental , i just love to feed my ears with quality stuff . Big up Monoprice , big up Z , much love and respect , i'm out !
when do you plan on reviewing the Razer Nommo speakers. they are praised as "the best ever" but im very skeptical about the accuracy of that statement
A mod to try? Switch sides, not of the inputs, but of the 1060C's themselves, making the factory front into the rear & then reverse the pads, twist the pads around 180 degrees to accommodate the switch of direction & then switch the inputs if you want so that left is left & right is right. Listen. Any change in the soundstage presentation? Is it in front or still back of you?

Well, it's best we don't insult random people just because they dislike something due to some sort of mishaps or prejudice. I for one need to know how they sound to judge. Monoprice did do something good to achieve what commendation they have, let's see what the future says.
Hedayetur Rahman Turzo why spend $300 for m1060c when you can get quality for 300 more or the same for used he500 ? I would just save for better planars the m1060 sounded shouty the sound stage left and right wide but not 360 mids little recessed but not warm or inviting the high or blah loud bad build construction bad plus sound signature didn't change much when powered by phone to a higher end dacamp my opinion I prefer a sweet mids or darker sound soo the lcd2c or he500 to the aeon flow would be more better . Oh yea monoprice too me is garbage

Zeos, I must know. MSR7B vs these 1060c. Which should I pick? (Already bought the 1060c from mono on eBay lol the specs on paper for these seemed a little better for I use them for) but I still want your opinion cause I'm still like... Iunno

Ive had mine for about 7 years and still love them but Im looking to try something new(particularly planar) and possibly upgrade. Would the Monoliths be upgrade worthy to the Audio Technicas?

I have a pair of Sony 7506's, a T50RP Mark3's with the pads and cable upgrades, an finally a pair of HD600's. Do you consider this will be a good buy to add to my wall?. I do not have 600 bucks for a DT990Pro or a pair of Audeze's, but wanted to try the magic of closed planars. Initially wanted a Oppo PM-3's, but they are hard to find these days.

I've had issues with my M560's. The first issue was the right side sound stopped working. I got a warranty replacement, I decided to use it less which I probably used 4x since I got the replacement.
Guess what? Once again the right side stopped working. OMG! I was annoyed. I reached out to Monoprice and got another RMA, since the m560 is no longer available Monoprice had sent me a close replacement of the the M560's to a M565C, the only thing is I will miss the open back. After seeing your review is it possible to mod the M565c to an open back?
If I could find some open grills for the m1060c i would jump on that. losodo has been out of stock ever since I was interested.
@zreviews Wsup Zeos, why is my brand new M1060C has a volume thats about 75% of my M300?? Using both of these on my LG V35 phone without outside amp. Thinking about returning the M1060C.
With the way you're talking about the direction of the sound presentation it sounds like you could move the presentation from "just behind you" to "besides you" with more angled pads. I know what you're talking about because I have another pair of headphones that's both a bit rearwards and a bit narrow so it often sounds like stuff is happening in the back of my head.
Or wear them in reverse and but run the cables to the headset appropriately so the channels stay correct 🤷♂️
on the rear sound comment, i think you put the cans in a reverse way, it looks like the fat side is in the back/rear. from what i understand the thin side should be in the back, the one with the stitching in the middle since the caps are angled

These are superb headphones, but the comfort and build is horrendous.
The headband is on a crusade to dig itself into your skull, and your movements are confined or else the cups begins to juggle for balance to stay on your ears.
I suggest not getting these until they revamp the design of the headband, especially if you have sensitive scalp.
Do I need the argons if I have the th900s Z? Does the Lawton mod help even any odd ends?

Papa Zeos, which one should I buy in the $300 range, the M1060 Gen 2s or HE400is? I have researching for the life of me between the two and cant decide to save my life. I value comfort and sound quality the most, HD650s are my daily drivers.
I owned both, i would say m1060 g2. 400i is comfy sounding, but not as punchy and clear and planar sounding as 1060s.
I know this might sound weird but I would love to see a wireless version of the m1060c.
Would you recommend the V-Moda M100 or the Audio Technica MSR 7?

I really wonder how the mod with wooden rings goes...cuz in my region, lcd2c costs around 900 usd, while lcd2 (idk what version it is) costs around 890 usd,,, and this m1060c with mod kits is around 450 usd...hmmmm, tricky.

I like the 1060s, but i still prefer the HD598 and HD660S over them. I feel something missing when listening with them. And the X2s and X1s give me the best of both worlds while retaining kind of the thing im missing on the 1060.
Which ones are the least fatiguing? I have the x2s, hd660s, and hd599. I’m treble sensitive and find the x2s too harsh. Are the 1060s ok for me?
