- Bob Cowsill puts on one of the greatest sets to ever grace my living room... sounds stooopid, but its saying a lot. Granted, I'm biased. I've been a fan since I was a wee girl... but still... in the tradition of great singer/songwriters, Bob gives us the before, during and after of the tunes with great good humor. And man can he sing and entertain. Hot damn! Love every second of this. It was great live... it's a great video.
It didn't hurt having a master shoot it and mix sound... Ray Siposs, like wow....a master direct and shoot B roll... Suzanne Ebner, you rock... brilliant C roll... Louise Palanker, who made the brilliant Cowsill documentary, Family Band: The Cowsill's Story... and genius editing by Andrea Winslow.
And yes, that's Ed Asner grooving to the tunes.

It’s 2024 we desperately needed this to sooth our souls
How great a person and musician. After all the hell this family went through. They did and still try to spread love and happiness. And their so good at it. And watching many videos you can tell they love each other so much. And harmonies amazing. It's a big family thing. They had it all yet suffered as youth. But all turned out well. Billy was doing good for himselfvin Canada. They can sing covers of anyone's music and sound great. I hope those left in the family have nothing but great joy. Like they gave millions of us. They entertained the biggest generation in history!!! Thanks for the great sentimental memories. Fantastic musician's and people!!✌️📻🎶☮️🎸🎹💖✌️🎼

I saw them on Valentine's Day in 1970 with my girlfriend. It was so fun. Thanks for posting this. You and the Cowsills are awesome.
How can you be of a certain age and not know the words to The Rain, The Park and Other Things. They are forever planted in my brain.
Found this clip by chance, and was totally blown away with just how talented Bob Cowsill is. The Cowsills are definitely a class act.

I thought this was going to b a cool video and then when the folks in the audience started singing the background I smiled and cried at the same time. I remember the Rain, The Park and other things from 1967 when my grandparents bought me a transistor radio for my birthday and I heard it on a tation is Massachusetts, WTXL. I was 6. What a great memory! Turning back the clock 51 years later and hearing these tunes sure bring you back.

I remember this so well…God Bless them all. Better time and much simpler, at least for me.
Why can't we have groups like this today. It would make us very , very happy.
Because only our generation(I was born in 1961), was raised with relatively decent manners and family values… not so these days.
They came out the same year that I was born so , I am very glad that I came across them and only wish that all the members were still with us .

Im crying.... I was but a 'wee little tot' in the back paddocks of Queensland in Australia, when I first heard this band of family gorgeousness. I never knew the sadness they lived through the wonderfulness of Rain the Park etc, Indian Lake and Hair...... NOW I remember who taught me how to dance - Susan...... wonder voices just wonderful.... The success of Indian Lake is TOTALLY due to Bill and Bob changing it with their unique arrangement, including rock 'n roll rhythms and GREAT harmonies.

This made me so happy, happy, HAPPY! I have always wanted to see them in concert, such amazing talent!
Bob used to play for four hours every Friday night at Pickwick’s Pub in the San Fernando Valley. The whole audience sang along, often harmonizing. I miss those nights. He’s a wonderfully warm and talented performer.
Bob I don’t know if you’ll see this … but if you do I wanna say I was very impressed. That you showed up , your singing… nice voice , your stories , and your graciousness about even touchy matters . You are a mature soul. Blessings.

I feel so fortunate to have grown up in the 60s. Yes, it had its problems, like every decade, but it was an exciting time to be young and alive.
Love the Cowsills and this was so great, the 46 minutes flew by in a second; Amazing stories and listening to Bob! Great to hear the audience participating and harmonizing with Bob on the songs, he's still sounding the same as in the 60s! Greetings from the Netherlands!
They made some huge hits! In retrospect their music was more complicated than other artists of that time. No digital editing or "auto-tune" back then. Real talent.

Wow. That was great, I’m a 61 year old guy and, like everyone else who remembers, I got a little choked up when the audience sang along in Flower Girl. (The title they wanted to use, I learned).
Bob is such a great storyteller. I wish he'd write a memoir.

What a decent guy - with all that he and his family has been thru. Some of the other family members did not fare as well. How unfortunate that his dad had such problems. Congrats Bob!
What a talented guitar/singer/songwriter, as well as having an awesome sense of humor! Bob is soooo comfortable on stage, makes you feel like you know him.

I was in high school 12 to 15 (1966 to 1968) when the Cowsills were on the radio in Brisbane then. You must have been young not to have heard all these songs by the Cowills then and since. Some kids then thought they were too cool and preferred Cream, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles etc But you could like them all then and still be cool. Loved them and their songs then and now.
I have to admit the clip really did make me smile. What a funny, entertaining, and uplifting clip. I would gladly pay to see Bob do a one man show.

I love the Cowsills I grew up listening to them Flower girl was a wonderful song but my favorite is Indian Lake I remember hereing this song when a bunch of us was going camping and fishing there's nothing like it hearing a good song on the way going on a trip love you all your brother in Christ Elvis Aron Presley Combs

Loved it when Bob sang his song. I am a twin and have an older sister. I can't believe that I am sixty years old now!!! Occasionally we would sing together and were mesmerized at the sounds we created. I believe if we had stuck to it and worked at it we could have been famous too. Of course we did not!!!

What a lovely audience!! when they started singing the harmonies on The rain the park and other things and saw Bob's reaction I was literally touching my chest just from how awesome and sweet that was!! It's a blessing to still have The Cowsills around, I hope I can meet them soon on a gig, as soon as the current situation is over. I can't thank you enough for this video!!

Tom Petty’s audience sang Breakdown to him, complete w the back up parts. He just sat down on stage and took it in. Obviously touched. I was 5 when this song was on the radio. Great to see Mr. Cowsill experience a similar vibe in a much more intimate setting. Oh, to be in that room. Great, great pop song. Enough to stick with me 55 years. Bravo!

This has got to be the only time I've heard an audience sing this well - it gave me goosebumps! Plus Bob is fantastic, as are all of the Cowsills (RIP Billy and Barry) I grew up with The Cowsills, too and used to run into John years ago in the music scene. He's a fantastic musician - as are all of the Cowsills.

It was Incredible how right they were at 17:51-17:53 for an impromptu group of women just sitting there. You Know many of them were probably reliving themselves singing along with the song on the radio originally as pre-teens or teens. A lot of love and nostalgia heard in there....
Same here. There was also one prominent alto who really shone with her perfectly pitched harmony throughout :) Love her!

Posting again!!! I watch this every evening and enjoy it all over again!! Bob has a wonderful personality and great sense of humor!!! Notice when he gets started on THE FLOWER GIRL he is so surprised they joined in.!!!The look on his face was priceless!!! But listen closely and you will hear one lady harmonize with him!!! I noticed because years ago I sang with a group of girls at church and that was what I did!!! I am so thankful that THE COWSILLS still use their God given talent as many other entertainers do.!!! Thanks so much for lifting my spirits!!!!
I've heard small bits and pieces of The Cowsills music for years and at 49 have truly discovered and fell in love with the music as a whole. I have been learning as much as I could about the Cowsill's and their music. Bob Cowsill is an incredible musician and story teller. Thank you for this Vicki.
