    I was 5 when I Love the Flower Girl came out and It's one of the first songs I ever remember being aware of. I think what always drew me in was the thunder and rainstorm that starts the song.( Maybe ).❤😊

      The start reminds me of the sound boiling water makes. 😊

    This was fabulous. I don't know where these siblings got their honest humor from after reading/watching how terrible their upbringing was especially with Bud, but their energy and auras are so pure and refreshing.
    Thanks for sharing!

      Rhode Island’s very own
      I saw them at a club in Newport in 1967 or 8 and went back stage to see if I could hire them for a concert at URI.
      The manager (dad,I guess) Enid they were about to release a song and if it hit the way they hoped we couldn’t afford them.
      I guess he was right. Still loved them though.

    lets keep in mind that ch 5's good day studio had absolutely nothing to offer these singers in terms of "technology" and embellishment. this is as raw as it gets which shows you how talented the Cowsills are.

    This is a great clip. Only flaw: the person interviewing them got it wrong about Barbara (their mother) playing keyboards. She did not. Barbara never played any instrument other than tambourine in public or in television appearances, although she might have played steel or slide guitar or a like instrument while at home, or in the studio. This interviewer wouldn't have known that. Paul was too nice to correct her. But by saying his mother played the steel guitar he let's the interviewer down easy. Classy guy. So where did the interviewer get the idea? Answer: Once again the influence of that stupid show "The Partridge Family" is evident. This interviewer remembered Shirley Jones faking playing the piano on that show, and just thought that the Cowsills' mother did also. Very aggravating to hear mistakes like that!!!

    • @mikedunkling583
      @mikedunkling583 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interestingly, I saw a talk Bob gave in which he explained that their mother hated singing in public but was basically pushed into it by their dad. And if you watch old videos, it does look like she'd just about rather be anywhere else.

      As a new fan , in my now old years - I perceive them as two totally separate bands , but yes the show did resemble --the a tual band save the fact that the real band The Cowsills , to me - and I'm sure many - are not pop ; they're more , seems, ballad rock . I thought they were adults when I heard their initial hit .
      But I'm not a skilled speacher 🤣see .. but I do like to point at flowers with the throngs admirers --- the mother was out of market , and probably would have succeeded as an individual star or artist - musician BUT why not boost of the accomplishment result ,,that family has gifted tantemount canon . Are there any professors here ? I'm sorry I can't eschew 🤣🥰

    I'm a little surprised they had John sing the lead on Indian Lake. I really enjoyed their work from the 60's. The 70's destroyed them and the 90's were not very good to them either. I enjoy their versions of these songs beyond 2000 better than this one. It doesn't look like they're enjoying themselves here. I really wished their dad hadn't put a wedge into the group and split them. I also don't think it was a good idea to add their mother to the group. I still enjoy memory lane with "Hair", "Flower girl" (i.e. the park, the rain, and other thing), and Indian Lake as they sing it today (with Bob, Paul, and Susan).

      @yboywonder actually John is the perfect person to take over Bill's lead vocal for Indian Lake. John has exactly the same type of timbre clarity and vibrato as his older brother Bill. John has an amazing voice / range.

      I could have heard wrong, but to me it sounded, and looked like, Paul was singing along with John and then Susan and Bob sang back-up. Either way, the group sounded great!
