This was December 24, 1967 on the Ed Sullivan show. I agree - one of the best versions of Little Drummer Boy I've ever heard. And they should have done a Christmas album. It would have been great

That mother allowed horrible. Child abuse by a piece of shit alcoholic father. They had a fantastic talent, gift, where well liked etc they could of made millions the kids better adjusted without the dad . got a better management team as well. Dad wasn't needed. Train the seventh child he is smart n talented to be in the band as well. Hey even if its cows bell for the cow sills n triangle n sing some at first.
1) Former WWF champ Bob Backlund was hired at this time to take a Stanley belt sander and finish the piano however he mis-took this as "Finish" which is a horiffic wrestling move (the Finishing move)..anyway Backlund smoothly head-butted the piano in two. 2) The very back of the back half of the piano has a helium bladder ran the entire length of the head-butted half. 3) The name Cowsill when held up to a mirror is Lliswoc, you probably remember "Llicwoc" was the original name of Star Trek

Family groups like the osmonds, Godzilla and Jackson's r a travesty what these kids went thru. Other family acts as well but they didn't make it as well as these three bands. More laws to protect children in show biz need to be put foorth
Three Questions: 1. Who sawed off the back half of the piano? 2. How does it remain upright on only two legs? 3. Why is Mrs. Cowsill wearing a Starfleet uniform?
Is this live or synced? Their voices are so clear, yet I don't see any mics. But I thought I heard the sound of the thumping on the guitar, which makes me think it is live. Best solo of drummer boy I've ever seen.
This was still the age of boom microphones. Lavalier mics existed, but they were considerably larger then than they are today. My guess is they used two boom mics for this.

It was sung by Susan and written by Bob Cowsill and his wife Mary Jo. Susan also recorded one on her "Just Believe It" CD called "Christmas Time" written and sung by her.
Bill was the best singer. While John has a drummer best instrumentalist.They should have been more like the Everly brothers and Momma's and the Poppa's. Their hair song version was right on. Rest of songs to soft. They were the Partridge family a little more milder music wise. Seems like executives wanted the Osmonds. Bill actually discovered them while they worked for Disney.

I can only guess,but maybe they were lacking in original music to perform,for the Record execs.
