Seen a few but already added a couple to my list. Standby is a cute little under the radar romcom, with a bit of Before Sunrise vibe to it. Except the characters did meet before. Is there a MsMojo list for walking & talking romance movies? Before Trilogy obviously, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, Before We Go, Standby...
Right? It's a terrific movie. How can they say people haven't heard of it? Not only does it star Jackman, Meg Ryan and Liev Schrieber, but it's also directed by James Mangold. It's so good!
missing "One Fine Day" with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. Excellent rom-com that is completely underrated cause it premiered at the time of Jerry Macguire
Love that movie! It's what got me to Italy for the first time. I saw that movie and about 3 months later, I was on Alitalia crossing the Atlantic on my way to Milano for my first of many trips there.
The Jane Austen Book Club. It’s an adorable rom com with a dusting of drama and a great cast. No one ever mentions it; definitely an under appreciated gem.
Kate and Leopold is a gem and I wish Hugh Jackman could have been in more romcoms because he did it so well. And About Time broke me in ways I will never recover from but it was so great.
@Zzzsleepzzz It was also the only romcom James Mangold directed. Speaking of James Mangold he makes a cameo as a director who told Meg Ryan that she was sucking the life out of cinema and the main lead in the film wasn't the main protagonist in a motion picture.
@christianhardtofind6349 Sadly it lost out to Monsters Inc. However it did win a Golden Globe in 2002 for Best Original Song and Hugh Jackman was nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy.
Im glad you highlighted austenland. It's so underrated. Also kate and Leopold. Although i have to say, every millennial, hopeless romantic, girl has heard of this movie.
I'm a huge fan of The Truth About Cats and Dogs, and About Time. Both charming, sweet, quirky romances with a little pathos thrown in. Also, I was surprised how much I liked Kate and Leopold when I first saw it! Time to give these three romances another watch!
Bonus points for 'About time' it makes excellent use of the song 'Il mondo' which has music from Ennio Morricone.Gorgeous.Also any movie that has eiger Domhal Gleeson or his dad Brendan is worth a watch.
Great list! "About time" is a family favorite! Kate and Leopold is such an underrated gem! I LOVE the scenes where Leopold humiliates JJ over opera and French and the rooftop dinner scene.
I love Kate and Leopold. I've seen it loads of times,as i have it on DVD and Bluray. It reminds me of Enchanted meets Pride and Predjuice. It was also the film that made me develop a crush on Hugh Jackman(who stole the entire film).
Mine, too. I think i must have watched it a dozen times & still scream with laughter at every well-known line. “Is that clear?” “No, but it’s consistent.” Is one of our favourite quotes.
It's the best. I'm old enough to have been watching it since it came out (I'm sure I've seen it more than 50 times in the past 50 years or so, and that includes the MANY years when you couldn't just watch things anytime you wanted to) and I can literally just about quote the entire thing, and I STILL laugh out loud every single time.
The Cutting Edge is my fave. To the point I’ve seen it so many times that I can repeat it verbatim! Another fave is PS I love You with Gerard Butlers an Hilary Swank.
I’ve seen several of these. I absolutely love Kate and Leopold. What’s Up Doc has been one of my all time faves since i was a kid. It was always a must see first date movie for any new boyfriend.
Austenland and Kate and Leopold are two of my FAVORITE RomComs. I rewatch them often and fall in love with their stories all over again, every single time.
20 rom-coms you never heard of that are awesome: The More the Merrier, Ball of Fire, Desk Set, Chungking Express, The Shop Around the Corner, Send Me No Flowers, Lover Come Back, Mediterraneo, Seven Chances, Pat and Mike, Monsoon Wedding, Barefoot in the Park, Roberta, the Thin Man series, Man Up, High Heels, I Know Where I'm Going, Easy Living, Theodora Goes Wild, The Man From Snowy River
Honorary mention: "Un peu, beaucoup, aveuglément" or the Blind Date. It's a beautiful French movie about a classical pianist and her annoying neighbor.
Wow, good job. As a romcom superfan, I'm actually surprised that I've only heard of 15 of these. To be fair, two of the missing five are not in my native language, so streaming services are less likely to suggest them to me (though I do love foreign films), but that still leaves three that I have no excuse for completely overlooking. I'm looking forward to filling the gaps in my viewing!
I watched "The Thing About Harry" recently, and just loved it!! Not sure which film I would bump from your list to make room for it, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Great list i just wish u could’ve included Fools Rush In, Dogfight(1991),Bed of Roses, Mrs.Winterborne, Blast from the Past, Shes Out of my League, Wimbledon, Something New, Chasing Liberty, Sweetheart (2021),Starter for 10 and A Good Year
I have seen half of these films, ex: Love Jones, Kate & Leopold, What's Up Doc?, The Wedding Banquet, to name a few! To me this shows I have both good taste and a lot of time on my hands
Austenland is AWESOME! I've watched it like 20 times. But, seriously, who has never heard of Cutting Edge?? Also, Liev Schrieber's character in Kate and Leopold is not the Duke's grandson.
Love most of these, my favourite being Paperback hero :) But would love to have seen added : Just Like Heaven (Mark Ruffalo/Reece Witherspoon) Fools Rush In (Matthew Perry/Selma Hayek) While You Were Sleeping (Bill Pullman/Sadra Bullock)

I have seen Kate & Leopold and I have heard of About Time
Probably addicted to love from 1996 and yep I seen this movie on tape
Seen a few but already added a couple to my list. Standby is a cute little under the radar romcom, with a bit of Before Sunrise vibe to it. Except the characters did meet before.
Is there a MsMojo list for walking & talking romance movies? Before Trilogy obviously, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, Before We Go, Standby...
Love Jones, The T Abt Cs & Ds, What’s Up, Doc?, Kate & Leopold, Just Wright, The Wedding Banquet 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
"The Cutting Edge" - one of my favorites!
Thanks for giving some love to "Paperback Hero" and "Kate and Leopold." Hugh Jackman is undeniably charismatic, and one of my favourite leading men.
Too bad he's an absolute garbage human being irl.
Kate and Leopold had its problems but i actually liked the concept and most of it was very well executed. Props to Liev Schreiber btw
If the scene near the end in “About Time” between father and son doesn’t make you cry, you have a heart of stone! 😢
I've always been in love with Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Leopold. 😍
Right? It's a terrific movie. How can they say people haven't heard of it? Not only does it star Jackman, Meg Ryan and Liev Schrieber, but it's also directed by James Mangold. It's so good!
@@NiGiff Agree. I have it on DVD and Bluray.
that movie has flaws but Hugh Jackman is NOT one of them!!! it may have influenced my decision to marry a HJ lookalike!!
missing "One Fine Day" with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. Excellent rom-com that is completely underrated cause it premiered at the time of Jerry Macguire
"Mrs. Winterbourne", "The Cutting Edge", and "Kate & Leopold" have been favorites for years!!

Anyone remember Only You with Marissa Tomei and RDJ? Love this one, but I never hear anyone chat about it.
Yes many people do
Love that movie! It's what got me to Italy for the first time. I saw that movie and about 3 months later, I was on Alitalia crossing the Atlantic on my way to Milano for my first of many trips there.
That movie is a WILD ride. #damonbradley
One of my favs. The kissing chemistry is fantastic!
It's a bit more iconic than all of the movies on the list, so...
Also yeah i like it a fair bit
My daughters and I quote “Kate and Leopold” all the time!!! We have always loved it!!! “Fresh, creamery buttah....”😂😂
I always say "I don't want him ready, I want him resplendent!"
@lisab7977 Everytime I see butter I go Fresh Creamery Butter. I also say rats ass 😄 🤣
the girls in our family quote that all the time too LOL
The Jane Austen Book Club. It’s an adorable rom com with a dusting of drama and a great cast. No one ever mentions it; definitely an under appreciated gem.
Great movie!
There's also Fool's Rush In, with Mathew Perry and Selma Hayek. Which is a fun underrated rom com centered around an unplanned pregnancy.
Yes!
Thank you for reminding me of this one. I also remember an interview with Matthew Perry when asked about doing a movie with her :"It's SELMA HAYEK!!!"
Yes...definitely loved that one ...sweet innocent Mathew and Salma ...favorite scene.when Salma goes to.the bathroom with .Mathew still.tbere😂.
Also Three to Tango, the rom com he did with Neve Campbell
About Time is one of my absolute favourite movies. It’s so beautiful and wholesome …I always cry when I watch it.
Missing French Kiss! Another Meg Ryan classic.
My favorite of all!
I have it on blue ray and watch it every few months
Came to say this! My favorite Meg Ryan movie.
Came here to say this! 😅
@@pghbekka I don't know why it didn't get more play back in the end. It is the PERFECT rom-com. "All men are bastards."
Kate and Leopold is a gem and I wish Hugh Jackman could have been in more romcoms because he did it so well. And About Time broke me in ways I will never recover from but it was so great.
Kate and Leopold was a pretty big movie when it came out. It’s surprising that it’s been forgotten.
@Zzzsleepzzz It was also the only romcom James Mangold directed. Speaking of James Mangold he makes a cameo as a director who told Meg Ryan that she was sucking the life out of cinema and the main lead in the film wasn't the main protagonist in a motion picture.
Yes! Even got an Oscar nomination for the song "Until" by Sting.
@christianhardtofind6349 Sadly it lost out to Monsters Inc. However it did win a Golden Globe in 2002 for Best Original Song and Hugh Jackman was nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy.

Great list! "About time" is a family favorite! Kate and Leopold is such an underrated gem! I LOVE the scenes where Leopold humiliates JJ over opera and French and the rooftop dinner scene.
Same loved it since 2004,as I saw it in TV.
Can you even call yourself a Hugh Jackman fan if you don't know about Kate and Leopold?! It's a cheesy film, but I love it.
exaaaaactly. he's perfection in that movie
I haven’t seen it mentioned on here, but Return to Me is another favorite. The cast and supporting cast are great. It’s predictable, but I love it.
The grandpa and his mates make this movie! So good.
I love Kate and Leopold. I've seen it loads of times,as i have it on DVD and Bluray. It reminds me of Enchanted meets Pride and Predjuice.
It was also the film that made me develop a crush on Hugh Jackman(who stole the entire film).
Same. Me and my bestie watched this all the time. I'm surprised our dvd copy is still in good condition.😂
@amidthephantomsrose It's a real feel good romcom.
What's up, Doc? is my all-time favorite movie. The banter is priceless and needs to be watched more than once to catch all the wity.
Mine, too. I think i must have watched it a dozen times & still scream with laughter at every well-known line.
“Is that clear?” “No, but it’s consistent.” Is one of our favourite quotes.
@@judithstrachan9399 There are SO many great quotes. Thanks for reminding me of this one.
One of my favorite comfort movies I can watch anytime!
“Something New” and “Liberal Arts” should’ve been on here. Thankyouverymuch
I love "imagine me and you"! So feelgood and a little bittersweet!
Queen Latifah in Last Holiday. Good rom com
Love it!🎉
Yes!
Anyone that knows movies is aware that Love Jones and the Truth about Cats and Dogs are classics.
Agreed, though I've only seen the latter, which is a loosely updated version of Cyrano.

Jennifer Coolidge always steals the show.

Missing: Warm Bodies
If you have the habit of watching random trailers on youtube, you'd have certainly known of all these movies! 😂
Austenland is AWESOME! I've watched it like 20 times.
But, seriously, who has never heard of Cutting Edge??
Also, Liev Schrieber's character in Kate and Leopold is not the Duke's grandson.
Apparently, he was but we plebs didn’t know. It was revealed in the director’s cut.
I’d have thought great grandson would fit better timewise.
I love Kate and Leopold!!
Kate and Leopold is one of my favorite movies.
Big Eden and The Wedding Banquet are two of my favorite movies.
My favorite was Kate & Leopold ❤
19) “About Time” is one of my faves!

Kate and Leopold was my introduction to Hugh Jackman 😍, been a fan ever since ❤
@miri5960 Same. It was also directed by Logan director James Mangold. Shame this was Hugh Jackman's last romcom.
I’d seen “Oklahoma” already & was pre-prepared to love Hugh.
