I listened to them all the way up to phase I in 2014... and have been waiting the 9 years since then for this. I have not been disappointed!
And so do I. I had the pleasure to meet Per Nilson after their show in Nuremberg back in 2015. Such a humble and kind person. And having a beer with the two vocalists was also awesome. 😀
Man I love them so much, and I like the singer that replaced Christian Alvestam, but man Peak Scar Symmetry was when Christian was there. That dude's vocals especially his cleans were phenomenal.
Guess that's why they've gotten Per to do some vocals too, his own timbre matches Christian's more closely
So glad you got around to this Tank, i've been eagerly anticipating this new album, and interacting with the band/Per Nilsson on social media, and my hype hit new levels when they could finally confirm the new release
Scar Symmetry is so good live. Would love to see them again, love having them back!

Once upon a time, they held an open call for people to record themselves doing chants, that were supposed to go in the background of an outro solo for one of these songs. i think that was in like, 2016 or so, so it may have changed since then, but i hope not!

And seriously, 2023 is such a phenomenal year for new music. I don't want another repeat of 2020 takes 1, 2, or 3, but we are definitely getting some great music coming out of that all
I love Scar Symmetry since their beginning, but I'm binge listening to this song (maybe like no other, recently) because of the bass lines and runs. They NEVER, EVER, disappoint us.

I saw them play this live in Umeå, Sweden last week, along with Orbit Culture, The Halo Effect and Meshuggah! :) Umeå isn't too far from my hometown and I've been there a lot before, plus the tickets were quite cheap so I just had to go. It was part of their Scandinavia-only tour, with only Swedish bands, which I think is pretty cool. Orbit Culture alone were pretty much half the reason I decided to go, been listening to them a whole lot for the past year or two. I actually found them through your channel, Tank! Thanks for introducing me to them :D I love the other bands as well, although Scar Symmetry must've gone completely under my radar somehow because it was the first time I heard them. They definitely left me wanting to hear more of their stuff, they really killed it at the show. As did all the other bands, everyone was on point. I don't go to a lot of shows but I'm glad I did with this one, had a really awesome night!

Fellow Umeå enjoyer here, absolutely love Scar Symmetry, especially their 2014 album which IMO is a heavier Dream Theater sound. Since DT is one of my absolute favs it just hits perfectly!
Gonna see that show in Gothenburg this coming weekend with my cousin. I can hardly wait!
I saw them in Stockholm 4 days ago and they were SO great. I were actually there for The Kings of Heavy Metal...Orbit Culture 🤘🤘🤘but man, Scar Symmetry was SO awesome.
They were so intense and they really enjoyed being there. They delivered big time 🤘😊

Loved this band, was more of a fan when Christian was the vocalist but they still slayed.
Love this band. The bass on this album was played by their guitarist Per Nilsson. I could be mistaken but I don’t think they have an official bassist at the moment.

One of the only bands who implement clean vocals that I really dig. Phase One obviously implied at least one more release, but it’s been so long that I honestly didn’t expect it.

Good crap yes, he is one of my fav vocalists of all time. Miseration was just so heavy I think i still have brain damage from the headbanging.

As a guitarist, I was looking forward to Per's solo, but the bass blew me away in equal measure. So groovy and just great note choices!
This whole album is insane, I'm loving it so much. Per Nilsson is slowly becoming one of my favorites, his note choices are next level imo.
Also if you like bass so much, I'm surprised you haven't reacted to any of Jacob Umansky's songs, his stuff with Intervals and also solo features are insane!

They aren't quite the same without Christian however, they still haven't disappointed since the duo took over vocals.
Straight banger!! The cleans give me some real I, Prevail similarities in song structure and the middle part is very similar to Mark Tremonti structures where the riffs are heavy and fast but the melody and vocals are slower. Awesome music video as well. On a different note, really wish you would add some other new bands like: The Warning, Starset, Veio and expose yourself and other community members to some awesome music @tankthetech
The Singularity Phase 1 was fucking epic!!!! Technogalactic Cybergedon is a masterpiece.
If you've yet to catch up on the singularity phase I, Per Nilsson himself starts singing some parts on that album too, his voice is really nice
It'd be amazing to see you react to some more of Lovebites like 'Holy War' or 'Break the wall' or 'Stand and Deliver' or 'Judgement Day' (with their new bass player, they even have a video on how they picked her)

If you love them like me did you also tried Insomnium? Those two are my top bands.
I saw them live like a week ago (togheter with Orbit Culture, The Halo Effect and Meshuggah) and they surprised me. As the opening act they really gave it their all, despite us in the crowd being there for the main bands mostly. Will check out the new album with an open mind.
I also fell off the band at the end of the 2000s. Relistened in 2021 and HOLY SMOKES! They’ve gotten so much better. Their 2014 record was off the charts.

While Christian is too good to ever be replaced, Robert and Lars do a great enough job and Per is as fresh and mind bending as ever on the guitar. Also, other than the amazing bass, man, the guy on the kit (I'm sorry, I'm forgetting the name) is going off. And those cymbals in tbe chorus starting from 'discovered targets die' are crisp as fuck. Always going to love tbis band.
I didn’t know you were a fan, this makes me really happy 🥹 I’ve waited 9 years for the hiatus to end and I couldn’t be happier that it’s over.
I know this isn't related to the video, but if you have never heard of them, Vintersea just dropped two banger singles recently. They are an amazing group that could, in my opinion, easily share the stage with the likes of Jinjer and Spiritbox. Definitely worthy of your attention. Their performance for, The Slay at Home Tour, would make for a great reaction video.
And go back and listen to phase I. it’s brilliant 🤘
Back in the day, Per Nilsson was always joking about using 9-strings on the next Scar Symmetry album...I wonder if that's part of the extra bassiness on this

It's a two part (three part?) conception album. Continued on from phase one. Still miss Christian, but the new singers sound amazing!
Per Nilsson recorded the bass tracks on this song, so F*ck yes the bass was awesome!! I think Per may be the best living metal guitarist..,,just an old man’s opinion :)
The cleans remind me of god forbid for some reason. If the whole album is as good as this track it’ll be a great one.

I was concerned when christian alvestam left the band that it would be pretty rough times. However, the last two albums were stellar!! with that being said for the LOVE OF GOD please listen to @solution.45. His vocals are just so phenomenal

Yeah really nice actually . Sits in a nice middleground of downtuning but with actual songwriting and riffs (not just a bunch of Morse code/zeros) as well as a 'touch' of prog tropes which are still tasty..

Holy Shhhh.... same story here. Heard Holographic Universe 24/7 and lost the band after that. You can call it a comeback, at least for me - thank you for that!

@@TankTheTech definitely worth a few repeat listens. As a concept album they toss in alot of callbacks and familiar hooks that really wrap the whole thing together. Stellar album despite what other die hard SS fans say.

The first three albums with Christian Alvestam are my favorites.
Dark Matter Dimensions is good, and so was The Unseen Empire, but after that I lost interest.
Tbh this would be better if it was more clean rather than growls / screams. At first it seemed the riffs and their vibe didn't match the vocals. But still really enjoyed it

Also I do still like Scar but the "new" singers are not good live as Christian... That's my opinion at least.
Yep, the harsh vocalist comes really close but the clean vocalist is what really puts me off of their newer work... such a shame because I really like the instrumentals :(

ots Christian freaking Älvestam. the man cant really be compared to. His side projects Solution .45 and Miseration both have alot of great tracks to fill the gap he left in Scar Symmetry, at least!
