Beautiful location, in Wigan! Who knew? Love when people discover these kind of local gems! So many great images in this one. Loved the nice light coming in and giving some wonderful highlights. Would also be an amazing location on a misty morning. Great video as usual Ben! Hope you are well, have a great week!
I know, I was pretty shocked. Yeah, I'm hoping to return in the mist too, should be great. Thank you so much Paul, as always really appreciated. All the best mate.
Hi Ben, was great to meet you mate and thanks very much for the shout out. Great blog with some beautiful images too. If not already take a look at Tiger’s Clough and the Lead Mines at Rivington also Hatch Brook Waterfall at Brinscall. ATB Phil 👍
Thank you so much Phil, really nice to meet you too. Yeah I need to take a look, since shooting this, I've been either editing this or in work, so I've not had the time, but I will do in the next couple of days. All the best mate and thanks again.
Wow that was surprise for you, I have never been to Wigan, so thank you for giving it a mention, somebody said there is a pier there too so that will be interesting! Thank you.
Thank you Des. Yeah the pier unfortunately has been developed on with apartments, I'm not sure there is much left from the original tourist attraction, but might still be worth a visit.
Oh man, you've got it. Amazing pictures. I'm reminded of the film Secrets and Lies (1996) :- Timothy Spall has the photography business, which he rescued when the owner hit the bottle. The old owner returns and says to Spall, "I've still got it, I've still got the eye" You've got the eye. No doubt about it.
Thank you so much, and what a compliment! I always find that locations like these almost take the images for you. I've never seen that film but I've just googled it, and will be something I'm going to watch. Thanks again and all the best.
Nice one Ben , i found the place two years ago and like you i was well impressed , that second waterfall after a few days rains is fabulous .. and yes i was told last year that it's pretty fantastic for bluebells too but i failed to get the last year though for the Bluebells but might get there this time :) great images as always mate .
Thank you so much Ray, really appreciated. Yeah I'm hoping to get back there ASAP, but it might be after Easter now. Thanks again mate and all the best.
What a gem of a find Ben love the images. Its great to find something like that, as you say well worth another visit. Thank you for sharing take care and all the best.
Have often seen cars parked on the b road traveling East descending Parbold Hill. Presume there are other access points to the walk using a car to get there . I live in Ormskirk. Liked you video and have subed
Thank you so much John. Yes quite possibly and alternative entrance into the area, however I’m not sure where. Thanks for the view and the sub, really appreciated.
fabulous images.how long did you expose the waterfalls for please.? The glen is half hr from me. be careful though when you next go as it gets bonkers busy during school holidays and weekends. the police issue parking fines too.
Thank you so much Barbara. Yes I've been made aware of the parking, I was there in the morning through the week and it was fairly busy then. The images range from 1.3 second exposure to 1/30th, I tend to always keep running water in that sort of bracket, to ensure there is still a little detail in the water. Thanks again Barbara.
Well where do I start first Mr McDonald 🤔 well here goes I really wasn't hungry before I started this but then you showed a pie barm now seriously hungry 😁. Seriously though great vlog I've known about this place for absolutely years but not been for a while but when I have gone past it the car park and roads have been packed out but do hope to get back and get some images of the bluebells and possibly see you there 🤞😁😁😁😁😁
Thought you'd like the pie in a barm reference! Yeah a few people have warned me about how busy it can get and parking being a nightmare, think it's a case of getting there early, or I was extremely lucky. Yeah the bluebells should be amazing there mate, if you fancy a meet up there?
“Wigan Kebab”, did you partake in one Ben? Only been here once but been thinking of venturing over there sometime soon, not very disabled friendly though so I need to be careful but it’s a great place and I’m hoping that i’ve not only improved myself but so has my gear. I need to go when the Easter Holidays are over though, last time E we went at weekend and it was fat too busy to get what I wanted. There was a family taking selfies of each other at the main falls and the only way I could get them to move on was to ask if they wanted me to take a photo of them all ( a little trick I use to get Street a portraits as there’s always one that can’t get in the photo ). Would be great to go now as we’ve had quite a bit of rain of late. Some lovely shots there mate, the one where you were waiting for the light, don’t you wish they would get rid of that horrible green metal fence and put a wooden one up so it’s in keeping with the area? I cropped it out of mine, not a big deal as you can’t see much sky above it anyway. Have you tried Roddlesworth Woods and Reservoir, the other side of Bolton mate, quite a few other reservoirs etc around there too.
Yes, I couldn't think of the official title for the Wigan Kebab when I was recording this. Yes I've had one and surprisingly, not as bad as I though it would be. Yeah the location can be a bit tricky, and I can imagine in the wet it would be pretty slippy too. That said, with care it should't be too bad. I've been told that the location can get very busy, certainly issues with parking, but I'm finding more and more beauty spots getting busier, even through midweek and early starts. Good tip though with taking peoples pictures. When I arrived, the first thing I spotted was the green fence, what possessed them in putting that there, I'm not sure if you noticed on the video too, they had cut a tree down and just thrown it over the side near the fall. It was difficult t shoot around these but managed it. I tend not to venture into Bolton, purely because I don't know it that well, but it's certainly something I need to do, I've seen Colly Photography over there a lot, si I'll need to check it out, see what it's like myself. Thank you so much Brian, really appreciated, all the best mate.
@@BenMcDonaldPhotography I actually went to Fairy Glen today ( Wednesday ), I did start a video, got some shots at the main waterfall, we walk up to the left over the green bridge and then come back following the stream. Ended up having to cut the visit short unfortunately so not only missed the green bridge waterfall but only half a video too, I was there with my wife and dog but it started getting very busy with dog walkers so will hopefully go back next week and finish it off. Gutted really as I’ve not done any real videos and not much idea what I’m doing but this should have been the start, even if only a short one. As for the Bolton area, I live in Horwich, I can actually see straight up to Rivington Pike at the side of my next door neighbours, I don’t shoot as much around there as I should but it’s more a waterfall or woodland shot place not a main vista shot, you will get some great drone footage Houghto as there’s so many reservoirs about and some landmarks, like the Pike, Pigeon Tower, Liverpool Castle ( looks awesome from the air ) a friend of mine does a lot of drone work, lucky get has just been to Iceland for a few days too, he drove 750 miles in 3 days.
Certainly a location to return to, I was so taken back by the beauty of the place.
It is in West Lancs not Wigan but great av

Thank you so much Adam, really appreciated. It is an amazing place, if you live near it's well worth the visit. All the best.
Looks a beautiful place! Lovely magical images, definitely one to explore. xxx
Thank you so much, we will explore this place, its amazing xxx

I think that's a real find with the water now or more it's stunning, great vlog and photos
Thank you so much, really appreciated, it certainly works as a location.
