Come and join me on a misty morning where I have to change my thought process to at least get something! Does it pay off?
So what's the backstory behind this video?
Well, I’m a Landscape photographer, based in the UK, searching for interesting locations, mainly around the UK, but also travelling further afield. I endeavour to make all of my videos as interesting as possible, with editing skills I've picked up over the years, also with adding music to match the mood of the locations and images. Using a basic set up, consisting of my DJI Osmo Action, my Mavic Pro Drone (although not all the time) and either my trusty Nikon D850 or my Nikon D7200 cameras, for the images.
I always show my images, no matter how unhappy I am with them, I think you as the viewer deserve to see the good along with the bad, after all, if it’s on the video, you've already seen behind the scenes.
So sit back, grab a coffee or a tea, relax and enjoy my slightly unprofessional, sometimes comical, but always crammed with passion video.
Don’t forget to Like, Subscribe and leave a comment, they always let me know that creating this material is being watched and appreciated.

I'm just an amateur photographer at best; I spend more time watching photography youtubes then I spend time shooting. So take my thoughts for what they're worth (not a whole lot... haha). First, I thought the pics you showed at 2:00 and 2:05 were maybe the best of this video. I'd love to have seen you set up those shots and talk about your composition and how captured those (ie, handheld, tripod, etc). Second, for all the shots you showed, it would be nice to see the exposure settings you chose -- Shutter, apeture, focal length, iso, and hear your thoughts about depth of field vs shopping action on the bridge vs blurred movement, etc. This really enriches the information, at least for me, and helps me learn what alternative choices may do for me in the field (yeah, when I actually make it out there lol). Finally, as an adulterated English speaker (American) I find you a little difficult to understand. I'm sure this is my fault, but one thing you might want to do is try to talk a bit slower. I know whenever I get up to talk in front of a camera or a crowd, I start talking way too fast, and listeners struggle with that. I hope you can take my thoughts in stride and continue putting out this content; I'll keep watching. Best wishes. -GS

Thank you so much Galen. It's always interesting hearing peoples thoughts and I do take them into serious consideration, that said you can't please everyone. A majority of my work is done with a tripod and I generally state when they're hand held. With regards to showing the settings, it's something I use to do, but realised that they don't really matter. The thought process for this is due to a number of reasons, firstly the weather conditions and the time of day, a matter of minutes can make a large difference to your settings, basically if you went to the same location to get the same shot, on a different day, the settings would be very different. It also changes from camera to camera, take my D7200 V's my D850, the D850 has an ISO of 64, and the D7200 ISO of 100 as the lowest, this makes a huge difference to the other settings. Plus I also believe it's important for the photographer to understand their own settings, and what they want from an image.
When I started the channel, I wanted this to be different and not follow the usual flow of other photography vloggers, constantly talk about a composition, yet when you see the image, you're left confused with why it was such a big deal. For me photography is an art and can't always be explained before the image is taken.
As for speaking fast, it's difficult, once I get into the flow of speaking, as the vlogs are not scripted, purely the fact I never know what I'm faced with until I get on site. But this is certainly something to take away.
I would seriously suggest getting out as much as you can, just to get your own understanding of compositions and settings and find out what you like about your own images, also whilst watching TH-cam videos, try and understand what you like and dislike about the images, that certainly helped me.
All the best and thank you so much for your support. Hope this explains a little more about my process.

Great vlog, loved the ‘minimalistic’ cooling towers image and the bridges images with the tree in the foreground- the 850 is working well 👍

Thank you so much Gary, really appreciated. Yeah I think the cooling towers worked, but it was as difficult to see if it worked on the back of the screen. Yeah loving the 850, it’s certainly doing it’s job. All the best Gary and thanks again.

Wow, you needed some patience to get those shots! Seems like a great location under the right conditions. Loved the Fiddlers Ferry shot at the end! Nice work Ben!
