- Just every once in a while with lots of patience and with many excursions, a great image will eventually present itself. In this video, that very occasion comes to light at Rivington in Lancashire and I find myself faced with one of the nicest woodland views that I have stumbled upon in many years. I capture the shot with a view to coming back but in conclusion, the final edited image is in itself, really beautiful! Along with this surprise, I photograph a due laden orb web, a sunrise over a wonderful grassland and dip into the world of abstract photography.

Wow!! STUNNING Web shot!
Nice meander through the woodland whilst I am sat having a cuppa after walking my dog in the rain.. very enjoyable Simon.
It's a very different day today...it's chucking it down here!
Another fantastic video Simon, and it just goes to show that no matter how many times you visit a location there is all ways a shot to be had. Hope the conditions change soon cant wait to see the oak trees in mist and dappled light.
Thanks Ian. I was very surprised just how well the final image turned out!
Catching up on your back catalogue Simon and thoroughly enjoying the exercise. I especially enjoy your knowledge of nature, for example the species of fungi, which reveals what an ignoramus I am in that area . The last image I would love to see again if you revisit in more favourable conditions. All in all another super video enjoyed whilst savouring a breakfast of two delicious poached eggs from my chickens who are busy at the moment doing some weeding for us and generally enjoying the chicken good life 🐔
Great to here that you are enjoying them Martin and if you get the chickens in, you could all enjoy them together and get my subscriber base up :-)
Hi Simon. I was doing a search on YT for woodland photography, and, low and behold one of yours came up. A few really gorgeous images, I really liked the web images, but I think the shot for me was the last one. Even without the ideal conditions, it's a great image, so when you get a bit of mist, etc it will be stunning.
Good to know Tim. This was two years ago now and I still haven't been back! Thanks for checking in again and commenting!
The composition of the old Oak trees is quite nice. I can see why you would be anxious to get back with the lighting will be especially beautiful.
It's not happened yet Glen! Next autumn perhaps
Hi Simon, I have just discoveredyour channel so I'm busy catching up on tour videos. I have just watched this one on Rivington. I couldn't believe it when you stopped at that line of oaks. I live a stones throw away in Horwich and that scene is a 10 minute or so walk away for me, I have looked at it so many times in the past but have never managed to make it look as good as you did there, so really well done. I suspect that it is your brilliant processing that made it look so magical. It's the same with any of the oyther landscape photographers work though and it is the post processing I hate, I'm not a big fan of sitting infront of my computer. Anyway, great set of images and video, I'm looking forward to catching up on the rest of your vlogs.
Hi Steve, I bet that came as a bit of a surprise then :-) and reassuring that you were able to find the same potential within the scene. I have made a second video from this location th-cam.com/video/kG6IGFWW9Xk/w-d-xo.html
This channel is a pleasant surprise, Simon. Your passion for landscape photography, the simplicity and beauty in your videos, your appreciation for nature, and the fact that you're not selling anything - all of this makes this channel really inspiring. And these beautiful misty locations are my favourite. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Joao. That is such a nice comment to send! I love photography, landscapes and nature with all of my heart and will probably never stop shooting until I am physically unable! I have to admit that in loving it so much, I have tried to make a living from photography, but my business sense is far behind any photographic talent that I might have! So until such time the photographic and outdoor clothing manufacturers come knocking on my front door, you should probably feel comforted that this channel will likely remain the same for the duration. At this time I receive no sponsorship, but if that were to ever happen, it would not be at the expense of you guys, the kind folk that care to take the time out of their day to watch this channel. I want to bring the countryside and photography to your living room and make you feel as though you have been out at dusk or dawn yourself and that will always remain the same. Thanks ever so much again!
A lovely video, Simon, many thanks. A lovely stroll in the woodland with an eye for good photographic compositions-what could be better. The lovely treasures you found-the pearl necklace, a field of webs in the sun, and ancient oaks guarding a path-were your rewards. Sometimes we plan a very specific shoot, but other times we let nature and our experience eyes guide us to good compositions; I love these surprises. Thanks again. Bob
Thanks Bob. It was nice to come away with a number of images on this occasion. It's always a risk making videos of this type of outing, as opposed to knowing what your target is going to be for the day. At least then, you only have the weather to spoil the event, whereas here it could have all gone wrong. But then it's more of an adventure! But like Elaine says above, sometimes you just have to enjoy the place for what it is! Thanks again for your great comment!
Great video Simon. Your care for the environment and love of your subject ,shines through.
Thank you Peter for saying so.
Love woodland shoots always something new to shoot great video as usual
Yes, I for sure should do more of them!
Just found your channel Simon, really enjoyable and my evening is set on a binge fest of all your work thanks!
Thanks David...Don't get in trouble...it is Christmas Eve :-)

What a stunning location..wonderful captures
Thank you Isabella
My neck of the woods, as it were. Lovely images.
Thanks Joseph
Wonderful video Simon. Love the pearl necklace image and the cobweb landscape. Idyllic morning doing my favourite thing, wandering around soaking up the atmosphere and seeing what you can find. Thank you for sharing and letting us tag along. :-))
Thank Elaine. I wasn't sure of getting any images when I set out but like you say; it's more about enjoying the outdoors and feeling the fresh air on your face. Thanks for your comment.
A few minutes into this video and the cobwebs and mist are blowing me away! Beautiful conditions Simon..
Cheers Paul. It was a particularly lovely morning!
Very nice!
Hi Simon! You're absolutely one of the most talented nature&landscape photographers I've ever seen so far.Really great stuff! Keep'em coming!
An extremely lovely compliment ; thank you Yavuz. I will do my best to keep it interesting for you and all the other subscribers. Cheers, Simon
Thanks for sharing this lovely peaceful video. Your presentation style does you credit along with some Beautiful shots.
I started this journey trying to pretend I was someone else but it never felt right. What you see now is very much me! Apart from when accident helpline, PPI or consumer survey ring me up!
Thank you Simon for another Great video, not only have you captured some cracking images, but your Ecological knowledge shines through. Your videos are not only inspirational but very educational and a pleasure to watch
Thanks for paying such a high compliment Graeme. I will do my best to keep them interesting! It's the comments from everyone that drive me to keep making the films, so please stay in touch!
hello Simon, beautifully photographed this forest..
Thank you Mirek and also for finding the time to comment. Much appreciated!
Great video Simon, thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed you images. You got a good eye! Looking forward to the next one.
Julian Baird - Landscape Photography Thanks Julian; it's good of you to say so! The videos seem to improve with each one I make, but like anything; practice makes perfect. You also have some lovely images too...and well made videos! Cheers
Lovely and on our doorstep so lucky - Mum Booth x
Need to go there more often. I'd forgotten how good it it! x
Great video, I love woodlands.
Just been looking through your landscape list and came across this one at Rivington, well I had to watch it as I live in Horwich and I’m always around the area you took the web shot ( Simply Stunning ) with my dog.
Basically, though I watch a lot of Land/Seascape, Nature videos I don’t shoot as many as I should as I mainly shoot Street. I did shoot more up to late last year but not very well, I then fell in the the Brook at Tigers Clough, not far from where you are here, and I knackered all my gear. Yes it was only an entry level Canon dslr, my Canon G7 X and 4 lenses, but it was all I had besides my 50mm which is left at home. I bought a Fuji Xt3 with the insurance but have struggled with it, more so with Landscape Photography than anything and as much as I’d like to change to another system, the funds just aren’t available. So, I need to do the best with what I have
It's interesting to hear that you are struggling with the Fuji Xt3. For any particular reason?
@@SimonBoothPhotography Not sure, something just doesn’t feel right, on one hand it’s great for my Street Photography but my Landscape stuff is where I struggle, saying that I haven’t really had enough practice with it either. The old story, life gets in the way.
Well done
Great photos, great videos and great explanations. Liked it and subscribed! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your passion!
Cheers Dani
great video Simon. Very informative and awesome images, especially the spider web "pearl necklace". Looking forward to your next vlog and catching up with previous ones.
Cheers Robert
Hi Simon, first time viewer to your channel. Very impressive. Great pictures and very well presented. It's very different to the Landscape photography I produce. I might take a trip to my local woodland. Great stuff. Gary
Hi Gary, thanks for the lovely compliment. The channel has been active since March this year and although it's been slow to get going, it's seems to be gathering pace at last! I just spent the last hour watching your videos and what a great mix you have and very well made too. There are some lovely wedding images and I just wish I had the up-tempo personality to get involved with that side of things. My personal favourite was 'I had to quit'.
Excellent video! Beautiful photos.
Congrats.
Many thanks for your comment!
Gorgeous images, giving a totally different perspective of one of my favourite places.
Glad you liked it Mark, I will be heading back again soon. Thanks again for finding the time to leave a comment!
The title of this video itself is really interesting and punchy. Nice video.
Did you see the recent return to the location video Ravi?
Love your woodland photos, I think I would like to visit that forest...
It's very easy to get to, with roads and footpaths everywhere! It's surprising where you find images really!
is it near the reservoir
Literally by the side of it!
Excellent Simon! 👍🏻
Very interesting video thank you Simon
That spot with the interesting trees is definitely one to come back to! Great video, I really enjoyed the spider web images as well.
Thanks Nick. I was so pleased when I stumbled upon it. I was thinking today of how the trees and the wood reminded me of Lord of the Rings! An interesting concept!
Hello, did you ever go back to that spot? I'd love to see the photo. The one you took this day was gorgeous anyway.
I haven't yet but like you, I was happy with the final image and not sure if I could improve on it! Maybe one day!
Watched... appreciated... and now subscribed... cheers mate... thoroughly enjoyed... that pearl necklace shot was fantastic... and those oaks were fabulous... almost Lord of the rings-ish 👏
The image is entitled Ents on my website...so there you go! Many thanks for the sub.
Found your channel recently, been loving your videos. Well done.
Many thanks
Found you today Simon, enjoyed this one. Why are all the great landascape photographers north of Watford Gap?! Tom H, Paul J and Simon B! ;-)
Paul Crane Hi Paul...blinkin eck as they say up here! That's quite a compliment, which I will happily take but to be fair, the UK both north and south of the Watford gap has some very fine landscape photographers of which I'm sure you are also included! Cheers again for that :-)
Lovely images mate and a great video.
Thanks for the message Paul
Excellent channel Simon. I'm not far from Rivington and I would like to know the location of these amazing old oaks if I may..

Thanks Nigel
Great video Simon, just made me even more determined to get out with my camera
Go for it David!
I wanted to see more of your work, but the link to your 500px gallery is broken... :'(
Give me 10 mins and I will look into it!
All fixed; thanks for pointing it out!
No problem - I'm now following :)

Wonderful video Simon, just followed you on Instagram!
Thank you :-)
Enjoyed the video, Simon. It's great to see your passion for nature shine through the presentation and your images. Nothing beats a woodland for me and those oaks are going to be fantastic!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Simon. Having watched a number of your videos, I'm well aware of your very considered approach to woodland photography and it's a nice compliment for me to know that you too enjoyed it!
