Hi again, I just wanted to thank you again for your help. I've made a new video and also featured your mustang (yet again) and I also linked your channel. I hope it will bring you some subscribers too - you really deserve it. I think without you and Greg I would have never figured out, what I know now. Thanks again.
I will check it out! May I address you by your first name? I’m Vic.
@@trackdayclassics Sure Vic. I'm Christian
Thanks Christian! And my views did increase after your video. Much appreciated!
I appreciate you two collaborating. I love the F1 sound too, and trackdayclassics, your willingness to share connections, Greg's willingness to get on a call, and Maisteer, your willingness to test and test again helped bring us to where we are today. I have more clarity on what I might want to do for my car now too. Thanks!
Music to my ears 🤤 that snap and crackle so good 👍
Thanks!
Your car sounds great!
Thank you!
Man you have a jig for everything! 🤣 Not what I thought would have broke! Figured axles, but didn't hear anything when you were still moving. I have always sorta regretted not going floater, myself. I spec'd out a custom Currie Turn 9 9", and it really never occurred to me... Now that I'm DEEP into my truck build, I should have. Only option later is something like a Strange weld on setup, which is SUPER nice, but will be crappy to figure out my Wilwood electronic e-brake brackets and all that from scratch.
I do have jigs and things that lift heavy items for this old man. As to the break, it was a real head scratcher. Your build sounds interesting! Are you able to post your progress somewhere? It would be great to see it. Cheers!
Age gets us all.
That exhaust note is perfection. I noticed you have subframe connectors - in your experience are these worthwhile in addition to the roll cage when it comes to chassis stiffness?
Thanks! And yes, anything you can do to stiffen up these old cars really pays off on the road course! Great question! Cheers!
@@trackdayclassics thanks for the feedback! I will add some to the list 👍
Can you talk about your transmission??? I thought it was a EMCO or a Lenco, but can't find that you spoke about it on any of your vids. I like it!!!!! 😶😑😐🙂😃😁😯😲🤔🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Want it for my C4 Vette but its been asleep for 24yrs.😭
Maybe a 6xdgearbox, or Full Sequential Termec by American Powertrain????🤔
Hey Chris! I wish it was a sequential, but it’s a Viper spec T56. Which basically means it can handle very high torque, but shifts are notchy. I had a S1 shift adapter for a while, but that did not improve my 5-4 downshifts and was a pain to remove for transmission/clutch repairs. So, no magic here. I think I mention the trans in captions in the video after the “dyno day!” Video. Cheers and good luck with your project!
@@trackdayclassics I'll be a doofus, & still can't find where you mentioned it! 😵. So is that T56 still an H pattern or fwd/back pattern using a foot clutch? I thought I saw one if your vids of you shifting that way, but with a clutch & wondered what gear box you were using.
Do you know about that Full Sequential Tremec 6-Speed by American Powertrain with PPG of Australia internals, but its $20k-26k?
See vid titled:
Full Sequential Tremec 6-Speed The Ultimate 6-Speed Transmission
Also, I found another Made in USA by 6xdgearbox. Its around $16k.
See really good vid on Finnegans Garage. He's that dude on tv Faster with Finnengan. See vid titled:
First Look Inside a Billet Sequential Trans for my '67 C10! Finnegan's Garage Ep.99
I wonder if all your followers can petition one of these companies to sponsor you or give you a deep discount, or set up a Go Fund the F1 Sounding Stang Project!!!! LoL.
I'll try to post these links in a separate reply below in case YT blocks the post.🤫
YT deleted my 2nd post with links. I do see that S1 shifter video to a T56 by Bowler Transmission titled: How to Install S1 Sequential Shifter | T56 Magnum | Bowler Transmissions.
So you didn't like it?
@chrispompano Hey Chris, like you, I’m a fan of the sequential units out there. And Mike Finnegans various builds. I just sold my S1 shifter, not because I did not like it, I did. But because it added too much time to transmission removal. I’m on a limited income, so luxuries like a 20-30K trans are way out of my price range. The car is pretty dialed in as is, but the driver could be better 😆
I aspire to have your hobby once I retire, congrats Sir! Quick question though, is the looser suspension intentional? I know some body roll is beneficial in cornering, but (maybe it's just the camera) it seems to roll quite a bit in corners, and transfer a lot of weight back at WOT. Is that intentional? Or is the camera just exaggerating it.
Congrats on the beautiful car, Sir.
Thanks! The camera does add a great deal of roll to the image. The opening logo reveal is what the car actually feels like. Cheers!
Is it illegal to use a hand operated hydraulic clutch mounted on the shifter to reduce overall shift time .
There is definitely one second of time that one can easily reduce.
Or better yet, a sequential box and strain gauge!
@@trackdayclassics well yes your solution is perfect but really expensive while you can still use ur existing transmission and clutch and change ergonomics of the clutch and still be fast .
Has any one tried to use a transaxial sprung by independent suspension with a sequential gear box for a GT350 R
Probably a dumb question, but I kept hearing a gritty type sound like at 5:46 is that the clutch or something?
I only hear the engine backfiring on trailing throttle… so not sure what you mean?
@@trackdayclassics I think it might be your brakes? Like at 5:25
@OVERKILL_SS What you’re hearing might be the electric brake booster behind the drivers seat. There’s a pump that turns on and off as pressure changes.
Okay, I listened again to those two sections of the clip. Pretty certain that was just something sliding around in the metal floorboard. In this car, I installed flat aluminum plate over internal structures for my seats and belt mounts. It gives a nice smooth finished look to the inside of the car. I’m guessing these sounds came from passenger unsecured seat belt ends on the passenger floorboard. You have better hearing than I do. Cheers!
@@trackdayclassics lol I was just enjoying the beautiful symphony of your car and I was like "that don't sound right 🤔" cheers!
