Am I crazy for thinking I prefer the sound of 2 XD's in Poly Chain over the Rev2, Novation Peak, and Deepmind? Just soundwise, I like it more. And two sequencers that are tempo synced looks like amazing fun.
These synths always remind me of soundtracks. Like Scarface. Love this stuff. I like my minilogue you just have to boost the output. I wonder if xd is the same. I do dig korgs new stuff. My volca keys and mini are a blast. Must admit though korg has stiff competition with Behringer. I Love my deepmind. Keep it up korg you still rock.
Feel like a dope for having to ask (looking at you, Roland) - is the poly chain *real* polyphony, or just the pseudo-polyphony like on Roland's Botique series?
I love those generative ambient sounds you make.. Brilliant. How does it work though please. I use VST's and Ableton with an Arturia MiniLab MKII keyboard controller. Does the Minilogue simply connect by USB to Ableton and I play it with my keyboard. Sorry if the question's a bit dumb but I'd to learn more. Thanks
Great vid! Unfortunately I do find the sound a bit cold/sterile with no weight at all. It’s unfortunate because it has so much to offer in this little package. I really like the features. To each his own.
Chuck, it's okay. You need to keep your keyboard version and buy a module to polychain.... I don't have one yet, but I feel like I need two! And I'm sure a month afterwards I buy two they will come out with a prologue rack with sequencer with even more features... never ends....
Hello friends! I have a question from the korg minilogue xd module. Can it be used as a single instrument (stand alone), without connecting any controller, or keyboard? By the way if I connect something I have the electribe 2 Thank you
I generally don't know why a lot of synths don't maybe it's harder to oscillate i have no clue tbh. But you can always very slightly tweak a filter and get a sine like sounds. And yeah with custom waves you can have any sine. I was generally thinking of getting the behringer poly D And i may just get this instead so versatile
I have to say, Korg releasing the XD with a mere 16 step seq is like kinda like releasing a Porsche without the wheels. I hope this is something that can upgraded with firmware.
I'm sure u can always hook up a sequencer with longer bars via midi. Granted yes it's not all in the box but I'd call it a Porsche without tyres instead of a Porsche without wheels
I think this is equivalent to Virus TI snow as far as far as programability, fx, overall-sound. This may be more immediate and hands on to program though? It can also have custom effects and osscilators you can import though, Virus TI dont have that
Great video. When you polychain 2 mxd does that means you can play with 4 diferrent vco,s +2 different multi engines in the same time so you can create more incredible sounds? or twice everything in the same time like 2 different seq with 6 effects and 2 lfo,s running?
Yo dude, so the xd is a synth with four note polyphony. This means that you can press a C, and the synth will voice a C, with a single voice. You can press C and E together, and it will voice both of those notes together, using two of its four voices. You can see how this carries on. Four voice polyphony is generally pretty adequate for a beginner synth because you can play a three note chord, using three voices, and a single note lead over top, using the final voice. However, if you try to play five notes at once, or more, like a seventh chord with arpeggiated octaves on top, your gonna start to sound real wonky real fast, because your asking for more voices than than your synth has. So, what polychain does, is tell the minilogue that there's a second synth right beside it, and if it needs more voices, it can just steal it from that one. With polychaining, one note will still only activate one voice, but if you poly chain two four voice synths, then you suddenly have 8 voices! So that's basically what poly chaining is for.
It extends the polyphony to 8 voices, which means you can play 8 notes simultaneously without running into voice stealing, a common issue, especially for patches with long release. As I understand it, when chained, one Minilogue is going to be the master and the other one, the slave.
Very nice sound design here. I often have fun trying to imagine the best synth combo, and the two MXD together are a very appealing idea!
Seeing as this has CV connections I think the XD + an Erebus/Nyx is a better combo. I use my XD with a Minibrute 2s and Nyx 2. Great trio.

It is the same. Gotta boost nearly every preset to match your other analog levels
What a beast this machine :D :D :D Brutal sounds!!! I didn't know for long times that these sequencers exists! Thank you for all your test videos.
Sounds great. The XD has so much more 'chime' than the original. Sold.
The module poly chained with the normal XD looks / sounds amazing.
6:46 - what a huge pad! Sounds like there is a shimmer reverb setting too. That tears it.
That moment was epic!
For the price this is the best synth on the market, imo. So many features and with poly chain you can get an 8 voice monster poly for $1200.
Or a Prologue. 😉
@@lynnskaggs9356 Prologue is huge tho. Minilogue xd + Monologue + Volca drums/kick + Volca Mix is all one needs to create a banger
Lynn Skaggs Prologue might sound fatter but with two XD you have a sequencer to go with 8 voices or 2 sequences both with 4 voices.
Wow Wow Wow 6:55 unreal
I need that patch! Sounds superb!

Great DEMO of XD/s, TY.
Of course they announce this THE DAY AFTER my return-period for the XD with keyboard expires.....
If it's any consolation, see chief tp's comment

Jeepers .. the pads on this thing are as fat as on my dearly departed Roland Jupiter 8 .. good job Korg
such great sounds
Hey there! What stand are you using in the Poly Chain mode for the XD Module? I like the way it mates up to XD with keys. Great video. 👍🏼
Nice emotions and filter :)
love at first sight, great sounds though
Brilliant Bravo Kudos
Read the title ....and saw Kylie Minogue in my mind !
lul
Anyone know what rack is being used to support the XD module when played with the XD keyboard at 7:04?
6:49 flying!!
Great vid...

Jean Martinez the sequencer buttons double as keys
Nice demo I wish it had a sine wave oscillator.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊.
With de programmable oscillator you can have wathever wave form you want
Seekthetruth3000 pretty close there at 2:00
You can get it 2 ways: play the filter or use a custom oscillator.

Get yourself an Arturia Keystep and you get 64 steps ;)

T1 is a great synth but i think u r right this is way more immediate....the osc fx import is a major reason this synth is a bit different
Can Poly chain support original korg minilogue?
Yeah I saw a rep say the hardware is different so they can’t work with the older models

From what I understand, when you polychain, the Master takes over all control and the slave panel is dead. I think that it only increases polyphony.
That's what I understood as well. But would be awesome if they could change it with a firmware update, do that you could choose how you want to do it.
Can anyone explain what the poly chained does exactly? Does it just double up the note presses for a fuller sound/more voices?
Grady McDonald it means you can play chords with up to 8 notes with 2 modules but equally increase number of voices depending on voice mode settings.
Yo dude, so the xd is a synth with four note polyphony. This means that you can press a C, and the synth will voice a C, with a single voice. Any word on the release and price?
I think it's already out € 635.
Hi! Can I connect my electribe 2 with this Minilogue XD Module?
Yes, you can connect your electribe 2 with anything that has midi.
Jean Martinez It will sync tempo through midi and you can sequence the XD with electribe 2.
I haven't tried it but I don't see any reason why it should not work. You can connect them via MIDI and Audio interface for sure.
