Recently bought my first synth, a Korg Minilogue XD! Quite overwhelmed, so much to learn, but so much fun just playing around with it. Inspirational, seeing you get this epic performance out of it.
It is very easy to make “go” - if that makes sense to my other noise gremlins. I like the inspiration synths give me. There’s never a loss for words from this particular one. They’ll go all nite, if u let em.
Several moments throughout this video remind of Polish Pianist, Vocalist & Composer, Hania Rani. Minilogue XD is an exceptional synth, with so much more potential than its affordable price suggests. Great video. New subscriber here!
Thanks a lot for your words. Hania Rani is one of my favorites artists nowadays but I think I was more influenced by Frahm than Rani. Both are excellent artists. So proud to remind you this artist. I regret selling it, but all has its time and now I'm in other place, not worst, not better, just different. Trying to flow ;)
Oh my god yes!! Hania is the person who got me so hooked on these sounds (especially her song 24.03). And I am looking for a synth to buy to experiment with playing such sounds myself. I suppose this is a good synth to buy for that case? :D
What an excellent journey through the sounds of the XD. I’m still early I’m my learnings with it, and like someone else said seeing what other can draw out is so inspirational!
Very inspiring. I use my Minilogue XD a lot and also uploaded a few videos with it, but i love to see what other people do with it and get inspired! I would never be able to sell my XD. Instead i bought a second one. And now they both live side by side happily ever after 😂
Your presentation of this synth is beautiful! I've been following tutorials for a while now. I really love your music! Congratulations! Greetings from Italy, Roberto😊
Hehehe sometimes happens. Everything has its own time… it was a fantastic synth in my early days. Now is time to go further. You make beautiful and meditative videos. I love them!
had one of these and thought about pairing 2 together but the drivers for windows 11 were such a pain so I sold it, kind of regret it.. was a fun little little piece of gear
I don't know much about these, but you join a long list of people that seem to effortlessly pull amazing sounds and textures from them...............I'm also someone who, at this point in my life, buy synth gear in order to acquire new stuff. I used to 'collect' and have owned so much gear over the years.......now, I love taking the time to get really familiar with a synth, as a singular, main focus..........I'm curious to know what you plan to replace it with. This is a wonderful upload.
Thank you for you comment! I didn’t buy anything else and I’m trying to break the GAS with the same philosophy you mention: learn, simplify and focus. But in this particular case, I’ve replaced the XD by a Peak. Desktop small factor, more polyphony, digital oscillators but analog chain (including filter and distortion), and much more powerful in modulation. In the other side of my studio, I’m creating small setups, just selecting no more than 3 devices (including synths, eurorack and pedal fx) in order to address the main philosophy. Thanks again!
I can really relate. My 'ambient' set up is very small, as it's part of a 'pedal powered' musical exercise bicycle .......my workspace is really tight, so I limit it as much as possible.....let's face it, it's not so much about the gear, it's about what we each do with it.........
what amazing sounds !!! I just bought the minilogue XD and I can't wait to try it and create my own sounds. I really like your universe though ! Would you be ok to share some of your patches ?
Sounds beautiful and so ambient. I am thinking of getting the Korg Minilogue XD but undecided on the keyboard version as in this model or the Korg Minilogue XD Module without keyboard. In your opinion, did you like the keyboard or would it be an advantage to get the module version and connect to a 49 or 61 key midi controller? Thanks.
Thanks! If you are not very limited in space, also if you already have a keyboard midi controller, from my point of view, a poly synth should come with an integrated keyboard. The space between the keyboard and the controls (knobs) is perfect when it comes together. Immediate access from the keys to the knobs and viceversa. As you can see in the video, interpretation and sound tweaking is constant, so the closest they are, the better you enjoy the synth.
Hi! it was a custom one for sure because the oscillator was a digital called SouPEr from hammondeggsmusic.ca but the patch was created by me using this osc.
Really nice video! Beautiful sounds! I was already thinking to get the desktop version, but somehow so far I didn't grab it. But I am more and more thinking about an analog synth to add more warmth to the digital soft synth or the Digitone which I already use. What would be your favorite analog synth at the moment?
I love my Matriarch and UDO super 6 but if you are looking for a desktop analog synth, I would like to have a Prophet 6. BUT! All depends on your needs. For me good sound, modulation and any building fx is mandatory. I like to play with and feel not only the raw power of the synth, I need some fx give context to the synth line. Peak is great for that. P6 is huge in sound, bad in modulation and fx. Super 6 great in sound, bad in mod and fx. Matriarch is a Moog, great sound, great modulation, great stereo delay. Probably I would choose Matriarch, but not definitely.
@@music4screens thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was also thinking about the Prophet 6 or Rev. Or there is this GS E7 from Argentina which is really sounding huge. And I think the Sound, the raw Sound from the Synth is most important for me. If there are no FX on board i don't mind, I add them later 😉 but I am not in a hurry. But I have to take care that I am making more music then watching TH-cam Videos about analog Synths, also with my current setup 😁
I had a rev.2, two times… and the sound was Prophet but not as much as deep and full as a P6 (sadly). The magic is in the filter. Both Prophets are brassy, but P6 is more mellow, warm and complete.
Why would anyone give up their "most beloved synth for all times" when it's so small and worth so little money? I can guarantee in 5 or 10 years time you'll be back in the market to get another one.
I don't understand the reasoning when it does everything you want it to and you know how to use it well. Seems like a smarter option wouldve been to purchase peripherals.
The depth and low end of any of my other synths reminds me not all synths have the sound you want. I wanted to have them all, but after this farewell i felt in piece of this change. Changing is always good to be fresh and available for new things.
Given how low it sells for, why not just keep it in a box, ready to be used again a decade later? :D I can't bring myself to sell another synth. I once sold one, I sold my Jupiter 80, and I regret it. I miss it. Anyhow, great farewell video, here's hoping the room you make with the sale can go towards another synth you're able to make sing as well as this one.
It was an option for sure, but I need to be confident and take some further actions to learn and reach new goals. I need this change, without forgetting the value of my old machines. Thanks for your words!

I lost passion for xd after finding it transposes sequences only from the key strike, now out of sync from original. And 16 step sequencer not enough when it's necessary to use say four beats per note to get anything worthwhile into a sequence. I need a 64 step sequencer.
It’s difficult to have a full featured synth, but when the lack is regarding the sequencer, we can use other devices for arps and programming sequences.

Masterful performance and sound design/control. Absolutely mesmerizing . Bravo!
