    if you turn any knob whilst it is tuning it unlocks a little Space Invaders style game. use a sequencer button to shoot. the reward for winning is design/engineering credits.

    • @User173
      @User173  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for commenting! Sure, the menu dive thing is very, very simple to understand. When you go into the edit menus, they are all divided up along the sequencer. When you press a button on the sequencer, the corresponding menu pops up on the display. If that menu has more options, you can just repeatedly press the button the sequencer that it corresponds to, and it will cycle through the various menus for that given parameter. It's a tiny bit menu diving, but really not bad once you get the hang of it.

    Thanks for an extremely informative video. I’m thinking about buying one. Two limitations worry me. Only having 16 steps on the sequencer is limiting, I really need enough for 32 bars, secondly the lack of an audio input. I’m essentially a guitarist and would love to use the effects section. Anyway my choice is between this and the mini brute SE. Both have strong and weak points. Decisions, decisions!

      Yes, I'm experiencing the "reverb click."

    • @User173
      @User173  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I had some reverb clicks. I believe this is simply because when changing preset's the super wide and large waveforms are suddenly brought back to the zero volt line and result in a click. I wasn't really bothered because I don't see a reason to be switching reverbs mid playing.

    One thing about the filter+EG that I’m not understanding or hearing about much is whether it can create really snappy percussive envelopes with a strong initial transient peak. This to me is a basic requirement.
    Your sound hear in the filter section sounds like it has plenty of high frequency content to allow the filter to create that percussion on attack, but the filter EG sounds very soft, with not evens gentle bump on the attack. I just cant figure if the filter+EG supports this sound or if I’m not hearing it anywhere because it simply doesn’t. Any help is appreciated!

    Hey dude. Thus was insanely nice and way better than the tutorial by the Korg dude with the glasses. They need to hire you instead. Can you please explain the 4 track sequencing in another video? I'm not finding this feature on mine. Oh yeah... I'm a subscriber.

      wow man, thank you so much! I really dig Nick Kwas's music, you should check out his "modular on the roof stuff", but I super appreciate the compliment! yes I'll explain the 4 track sequencing my dude, let me get home from work and start a little plan
      thanks for the sub!!!

    To play the synthesizer, do I need a music card, e.g. focusrite, or is it enough to connect the synthesizer to e.g. a mixer and you can play?

    • @User173
      @User173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      just plug it into a mixer. or use headphones.

    Hello .Im having problems deciding about buying the xd when ive got the original silver but the xd has got that Roland tb3 acid effects but i was gonna get the tb3 .what has the best resonance the tb3 or korg xd if u know ?

    • @User173
      @User173  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well the TB3 is unique in it's filter, so the resonance sounds different. However I prefer the Minilogue XD becuase it's got it's own character.

    Thank you for such a great tutorial! I am a guitar player with a vast collection of effects pedals, and I’m looking to buy a synth to start mixing dirty guitars with synths and electronic beats. I got a Roland tr-8s a few days ago, and I’m having a blast with it.
    I’ve been watching videos of the Minilogue xd and well as the Novation Mininova. The Mininova seems easier to operate and the vocoder is a plus, however the Minilogue xd seems much more powerful. Are those two even in the same league as far as quality? It’s hard to make a decision based on videos only, therefore I’d really appreciate your input (and whoever else’s who would like to share some thoughts). I can’t get my hands on either before buying, because they’re not stocked at my local music store. Thanks again!

      marciolimongi Hey! I read your comment and i think i can help a little. I am also a guitar Player in a band, and since there's only three of us i also control the synthesizers during performance. We always had the Novation Mininova... But this year i bought the Minilogue XD and i gotta say: the sound of the Minilogue XD is much better than that of the Mininova. However, since the Mininova is Digital, you can maybe get a little more diverse sounds out of it. But to begin with synthesizers i would highly recommend the Minilogue XD since it´s got a sequencer and is way easier to learn from scratch. The Mininova wasn't as intuitive to learn in my opinion. I hope i helped you a little :)

    • @marciolimongi
      @marciolimongi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the kind response, I really appreciate it. It’s funny how the Mininova demos focus so much on the animate buttons and on the big filter knob to make it look so easy. That’s why it’s always tricky to buy musical equipment based on demos only. Minilogue xd for the win 👍👊🏻😀

      marciolimongi as another guitar player I can also thoroughly recommend the Minilogue XD. It’s a good synth for learning, but also powerful enough to still be useful if you start going down the synth rabbit hole. ( Like me) Best of luck!

    hey nice vid. i have a question. listen to the song yabba dabba doo by don blackman. theres an overdriven synth Bass in that song. could i achieve a similar sound with this synth? i know it has overdrive but i cant really find a vid that shows how overdriven you can get

    • @User173
      @User173  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      absolutely you could do that. I'd even run it through a Tascam 414 or something like an analog heat to saturate it to get that tone exactly.

    • @User173
      @User173  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      awww, that's very kind of you. Volca drum is an EXCELLENT addition to this! I just got one myself. You could route both audio to a mixer, and then on the back of the Korg is a "sync out". use that jack to go to the input of your volca drum so that the drums are in time! simple as that!

      @@User173 I just ordered a Minilogue XD... I first watched your tutorial in April when I was looking into this synth while waiting for my Drum to come in the mail. Now I finally have the money for it and I'm re-watching your tutorial, and noticed you said the Drum would be great for this, which is exciting to me. Cheers!

      @@xnflg3074 yeah, Volca drum sounds SIIIICCCCKK. it's a drum synth, so I think it sounds pretty unique. I have Nord Drum 2 which is also a drum synth, but they sound unique to each other, which is really nice. Volca Drum is really cool. I'll be posting some beats with it this week on my instagram and on youtubes :D stay frosty.

    Why is "Replicant xd" at Program position 499 - or is it just an modification saved to 499? Can you recommend custom patches? - I can't select the type "fat 1" im combination with Replicant xd, like you - why? I really like the sound at 5:05, but i can't reproduce it with my Replicant xd :(

    • @User173
      @User173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a patch I saved I believe. no need to buy custom patches, just program your own, explore! you'll get there. And you can't select the Fat 1? it's under the third oscillator, its the digital oscillator.
