Dwelling in the past brings sadness/depression. Thinking about the future brings anxiety. Live in the present and be grateful you’re alive and can still do something that may make you happy.

@@juhopuhakka2351 You have to go deep inside yourself and ask, "What did I love to do as a child?" Many times you can find joy in simple things that don't cost much money. Anyway, hope this helps. It's what I did and started some side hobbies. Another thing is to get out in nature, in the woods, and by the water, it helps. Adopt a pet if you like, if you can...They provide unconditional love.

@@juhopuhakka2351 that is if you dont consider and analyse what you are grateful for. To also find a connection with people or green space. This alters mood. But also when you are depressed, your autopilot default is to look on the negative, the rational brain is not automated. You have to identify what is satisfying, enjoyable, interesting, but you wont think that way when you are in a 'depressed mode' - so movement, people, greenspace to change emotions which alters perecptions, feelings and interepretation of the envionrment - and less attention on the default negative. Humans attention changes when their emotions change. So do a behaviour to change the emotions then what you see, and think alters. This has to be done consistently over time.

You are NOT a nutter! You are a sensitive, good hearted person who is going through a "rough patch". I think we all try to contemplate the meaning of life but I believe the meaning of life is living, loving, contributing, learning, health, happiness etc. I'm sure that everybody has their own opinion on what the meaning of life is. But I feel that you are taking steps in the right direction by getting these feelings that you have out in the open and I feel that you are very brave sharing them with your subscribers. I have had a lot of loss in my life I find that going for a walk on the beach is a great way for me to de-stress and gives me a new appreciation for this beautiful world. Not sure if you have a beach near you but I'm sure you have some pretty Countryside. Try taking some time out for yourself. Above all please don't feel that you're alone you have a lot of people who are concerned about you and please please reach out to a professional should you feel you need it. Change is hard but sometimes that change can be the beginning of a new outlook on your future. Hello mate, I totally feel you. I’m 53 and had the very same experiences you are describing and showing. Even down to the phenomenon you describe. My parents never see it either.
I have seen more things since then and still do to this day.
I also used to be obsessed by Dracula and hammer films.
As for the meaning of life, unfortunately in this time and state of being, there doesn’t seem to be any meaning of anything at all.
I’ve found that my best medicine and freedom from confusion and pain, was to fully accept myself. To be fully true to myself was my way forward from where you appear to be in yourself right now.
As for my relationship with my daughter who is now 24. As she grew and became more aware of herself, I had to learn not to attach emotions to my daughter decisions. I found when I did it pushed her further away when I was trying to be more close to her. It hurt so much, but it was my problem to solve and adapt to. Just let them go a bit distant for a while. They need to develop and grow on their own with out nurture sometimes. So she can find her own true nature.
You must remain in the background as her father to be there for when she comes back to wanting to be with you again. It will happen I promise you. She will come back 100%. Don’t take things personally until she does return.
I don’t have many friends out of choice, or a girlfriend. I’m quite happy like that. I had to go through a lot of pain to find that out.
Please keep talking, nothing on this planet has more healing powers than talking. Keep recording and keep talking. Record every day. Keep talking. I will be listening.

I'm exactly the same as you mate, I'm 57, went through crap throughout my life. Being abused by my father, joined the Army, failed two marriages, being a single parent, being homeless, suffered with depression and migraines pretty much all my life. To top it off 14 year's of drinking heavily every day and survived cancer. So sometimes I think maybe it's a good thing I haven't got long left and the same time theres not that long left too. I've been alone since I was 35 and lived alone when my child was old enough to leave home. I've accepted my situation and come to the conclusion I'm going to be alone anyway. There's no satisfactory answer to the human condition (here anyway), life's a bitch and then you die (as they say) but I know for myself (I'm not asking you to accept it) that what we call death is simply the beginning of something else. In other words, this existence seems very real but it's not what it seems. I won't go into how I know that, but I know. He told me that from his perspective, everything just went grey (when he collapsed) and then pitch black. He then said he floated out of his body, right up to the ceiling and actually went through the ceiling (and the upstairs) and up above his house through the roof. He could then see the ambulance arriving and the two paramedics getting out. He watched them run in and start attending to him, cutting his shirt off, sticking needles in him, thumping his chest hard, attaching the pads of the defibrillator (he didn't know what that was until later) then shocking him/pushing on his chest etc. He saw it all from above, his wife crying her eyes out for instance but he said he felt completely at peace, wasn't worried about what he was seeing at all. He also saw his next door neighbour running in to help. He then said that a tunnel (of some kind) opened up in front of him and he entered into it travelling down it towards a light that was getting brighter and brighter until it was so bright, he was emersed in it and it then spoke to him. This "light" (whatever it was) told him he had to go back as his work wasn't finished. My friend said what work ? The light said your "life work" and you have to go back to finish it. He said he didn't want to because what he was experiencing there was the best feeling he had ever had in his life, unbelievable happiness, no worries about anything, everything was right (he said). I listened to your entire message, very valuable. I want to use an example of what you are saying with a metaphor. One day, you know you will end up in Paris, but for now you are in New York. So you think "I'm going to Paris so it is entirely meaningless for me to be in New York."
    Is it?
The issue here I think is you are focused on the end rather than being here now. If you focus on the inevitable end, you will miss the present which can have whatever meaning you want.
I hate frou frou platitude kind of stuff (like what I just said) but it can sometimes ring true.

I'm only 34 (35 in two months) but I have been thinking a lot of the same things you have recently. I have a good career and I'm doing well financially but sometimes I think what is the point in working so hard. Maybe I should travel a bit more, maybe I should have kids, I ask myself lots of questions like this, wondering what I should do to get the most out of this life, not sure what the answer is either. I see my friends having kids and not wanting to meet up anymore so starting to feel like my social life isn't what it was, lots of changes which I have to accept and there will be bigger changes to come. All we can do is keep moving forward and trying to enjoy the process. Cherish times spent with your loved ones. A few of my relatives have passed away and I'd give almost anything to see them again. Just go out for another meal with them and have a conversation. Life is rubbish sometimes, but it can also be beautiful at other times.

Im only 30 but my past 15 years have been full of depression and anxiety, fear of death of future, the reason why I exist.
It got to a point when I attempted what I always avoided by the end of last year.
I try to see everything a bit more lightly since that day but man it ain't easy.
Some worries come and go, I also don't have any friends outside of my family, the only friend I've had moved away yrs ago and ever since contact is rare and only online, majority of my life is online and somehow it's this modern life.
Constantly I have the fear of missing out on living life due to worries and my personality "schizoid characteristics" that have been diagnosed in rehab last year.
One part of me is enjoying to be alone and the other is seeking for a purpose, meaning, company of some sort.
I hope I make some sense with anything I say, I thought of creating a similar channel to you, to talk about my experience with mental health issues throughout all these years but I also don't want people to be bored of my shit in life.

Yes, pls do start up a channel, it's cheaper than therapy. if I had the money I'd pay for some therapy, here in the UK on the NHS the therapy I was offered was rubbish, I spoke to a 'counselor' who wasn't very qualified, and the vibe I got was that he was going through the motions and detached, I started talking about being on Seroxat and didn't even know what I was on about, other things he also didn't know and I had to explain what they were such as Hedonic adaptation .. again silence, and many things that didn't click. I can't talk to anybody about this stuff, they'll think Im nuts. So, I started talking here and it seems TH-cam has pushed these videos and thankfully you've seen it and I get to talk to you, sorry you had to go through, I assume 'deletion' issues, man that's bad ... when my dad passed within the first 4 days that hit me and was so frightening I felt overwhelmed with this bad feeling of, but too much of chicken to go through with it, thank God, but the pull was horrible and frightening at the same time.
You seem like a cool guy, made your vids, I'll subscribe.

@@gerofiore9695If their is no God, life is ultimately meaningless. We all rot in the ground. But, if Jesus spoke the truth when he said i am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me, then their is meaning and a purpose in life. Jesus said, to love God with all your heart soul mind and strength obeying him, and love your neighbour as yourself. Their is then meaning, purpose, and ultimately hope beyonnd this life on earth, as their is eternal life to come to all who put their faith amd trust in him.

Life is so ironic. We think we are alone or lonely yet we all share the same thoughts and feelings (in different ways). But we find ways to communicate with each other because we are not meant to be on our own. Echart Tolle went through a very unhappy time then said to himself "I can't live with myself any more", which struck him as strange and meaning there must be two of "us" to think like that. This led to him finding a better life in the present. The past and future do not exist, only what is in the moment.

I sometimes more often than not, feel the same.Diagnosed with lymphoma 2 years ago,in remission now. But,when you face death, you find a fighting spirit.Despite any shit life throws at you, fight on,live on,rage against it.I have no friends, divorced, my 20 year old son lives with me,and yes i sometimes wonder if i should have had treatment. But being ex military,i fight on and take no shit. Please dont fear death, you cant avoid it,none of us can.I will probably end up in a hospice, but as long as there is a caring nurse to gently ease my way off this world, then thats ok.I really hope there is an afterlife.Keep going my friend.

I’m telling all who will listen I had an NDA yrs ago before ppl were interested. It wasn’t painful I immediately knew what was happening and I chose to return. I’m not any wiser to what that was all about but maybe one reason is that I would tell you folks on here about it???

Yes Johnathan, I was as a child scared of death like this guy, had a terrible childhood, violence etc. But then as a frightened scared child i found judo. I went on to train for 40 yes in martial arts, karate, boxing to name a few. This has taught me to fight and never give in, a mental strength I never thought I could have. So scared of death doesn't even come into it! I can understand this guy, but know that, there are far more bad things in life ,then in death.

    Hello Gerald.
You are not wrong and not alone. Many times, I have the same feelings and contemplations about life. I find consolation in helping my children and family with their lives. I also find meaning in reconnecting with old friends and in the excitement in reading and learning about the wonders of the universe. It also helps me to have a hobby that gives me hope to continue doing it.
Best regards from Los Angeles CA, United States
