I've been drained many years by my "friends". I always wanted to leave that group of friends because most of the time I hated how i felt when i was around them.
I felt that they drained my energy with their egocentric ways, jelousy and sometimes just being hateful for no apparent reason.
It's been around 3 years since i stopped seeing them alltogether and those 3 years were amongst the best of my life.
For the longest time i felt obligated to them, they controlled the way i think of myself, i was extremely insecure - but not anymore.
I was suicidal after i "left" them because i thought without friends I am nobody. But i overcame it and grew stronger and more self loving.
It's extremely important what you devote your energy to because energy is everything in life.

I think I will focus more on pursuing my future career and compliment it with creative hobbies as a pass time. Treat life like a game and invest into your character. Progressing and finishing on original work of yours feels amazing and is the best substitute to investing hours into things that don’t do much for your life or require much brain power. One thing that helped me was installing extensions that don't show you more videos beyond the topic you are searching for. Like blocking videos that appear on the home screen, recommended videos within a video, blocking shorts, etc. I also don't have the TH-cam app on my phone, I access it through the browser that has the extension installed. TH-cam can be a blessing in our lives, but also a curse, we just have to know how to use it.

You can block websites, and parts of websites like the recommended videos, next videos, and even comments. I think it’s definitely complicated, everything in this video is valid and true. I think it’s just hard to delete distractions like social media when they are used to connect with others between long commutes and lack of money to meet friends or loved ones who may be far away, lack of third spaces. The internet is essentially free and requires little effort to interact with others. These things can be used in moderation and I think it is on us to understand the fine line we must walk to not depend on this as gen z is the first generation to really grow up with the advent of these online social spaces but also know when to put it away and value our own company as we try to become more well rounded individuals. This video is so valuable, thank you.

Solid advice. I switched to a flip phone about 2 years ago so when I’m out, I don’t have the temptations of a smartphone distracting me. I prefer to read my book if I’m in a situation where I’m sittin and waitin on something rather than doomscrolling. I do still have my iPhone but it only works on wifi so I can use social media and whatnot while I’m on wifi but I try to use it for positive things. Like listening to these videos or other educational content while I clean

I absolutely love the nature around you man. Good point about the meditation, I meditate 30mins a day twice, in the morning and evening. Recently I’ve been slacking up on my practice thinking that it may be a waste of time, until I began to realise how badly it was affecting my life and reducing my ability to control myself against things that are bad for me- and you made me realise to some extent that the time I thought would be wasted by meditating is probably the most valuable chunk of time I have every day.

Someone recently used the word "harvest" and it hits like a brick. Our consciousness is essentially being harvested by the selfish energies you speak of just for a couple cents a month. We're being coerced into spending our one and only life as little cogs in a wheel for billionaires to have some more digits on their screen and seats on their yacht. Try going a couple of days without even touching your phone and you will likely feel a roller coaster of emotions. Thats how I felt at least. Great video, extremely well spoken Lucas : )

I started working night shifts in the hospital and when I am assisting for patients who are sleeping for hours I am not allowed to have my phone and it is true bootcamp. Most nights I find any junk food laying around to give me dopamine, foods I wouldn’t ever normally eat, and some nights I go nuts bc the hospital tv is never playing due to connection 😭. though I found it to be great practice for sitting in a dark room alone with just ur thoughts and getting intimate with yourself like Blaise pascal says. But The 3 twelve hours in a row take a toll on my body and I don’t have an ideal schedule/time management anymore. Hopefully I don’t lose this progress. This video came perfect timing

I had to force myself to sit in silence, through a lot of repetition and facing my thoughts. I would then take the thoughts and write them down, and self reflect. I also had to do several 12 step programs to free me from my past, and surround myself around spritual happy people to show me a new way of life. All the information is on the internet that a person needs to take Action and make change happen.
    Recovery is a Choice.
Is all about creating new healthy habits and maintaining a routine, and surrounding yourself around people who help you grow!, NOT make you feel like crap about yourself!!
I can now sit in silence and truly be in the present moment.

You making this filled my cup, I really appreciate you speaking clearly, concisely, and with confidence. It makes me feel more confident and knowledgeable about these already somewhat held beliefs, you don't make it feel like im picking a side either but more of: "here's a cause and effect" and "here's how to give your brain the stage for optimal growth".
