Second, nobody's trying to prove that Polgar is better than or equal to Carlsen in skill. Don't be confused with the different ELO ratings U see on the internet. On FIDE rating 2750 is Top10 in the world even nowadays. Magnus has the highest and its 2853 (the only one this moment above 2800). Hikaru has 2775, Anish Giri 2768, Aronian 2745. The best woman has 2628. Btw. neither of them was on peak in 2014. Judith was far away from that.

Yeah the comment about the knight with the mocking tone really made me tick. This guy doesn't know 10% of what Judith Polgar knows and allows himself to talk like this about her.
Both great players and it was in the balance for some time, the thing with blitz though is that it's very easy to play one move that isn't great and the whole game can come crushing down, Magnus slowly but surely turned the game in his favour and found some brilliant ideas to finish it off.

Knight to a6 actually doesn't go against ALL chess principles. IMO, one of the principles in chess is not to mistake these principles as necessary developments, but rather as a helping hand to understand how to use your pieces. There are certainly situations in place where principles don't apply anymore, because of the situation.
totally agree and what you pointed out is one of like 20 really exaggerated or just straight up wrong statements made by the video uploader who also apparently can't be bothered to learn the names of openings, get the pieces and squares correct, or calculate any variations. i think for anyone who is beyond beginner level, it's immediately apparent how bad and lazy this commentary is.

Plenty of people could/would latch onto it and it would tarnish his reputation; but it would not tarnish how he presents himself. It has nothing to do with him and everything to do with how the world perceives and treats people. Beside the common opening move 1. d5 the first move by Polgar (1. ... Nf6) is NOT necessarily King's Indian. We also can get Nimzo-Indian or Queen's Indian for example. In addition Na6 from Polgar is a very common move in the KID. Why so surprised?

It's not a surprise that Magnus at his peak crashed an old Judith. What surprised me the most is that she did not know of this trap of the rook. It happens a lot in rook endgames. Even Ra6 was a mistake because it gives the tempo to white. Also she did not see the entrapment of the knight? Really? This is something that any 1000 Elo player knows. I can only assume that she does not play endgames very well, which is really strange for a top ranking player.
To be fair Peak Magnus is beating anyone, even peak Judith🤷🏾♂️ and as far as I know, she has won against him, in blitz but never in a classic game. But I did expect more during this game😂

Both great players and it was in the balance for some time, the thing with blitz though is that it's very easy to play one move that isn't great and the whole game can come crushing down, Magnus slowly but surely turned the game in his favour and found some brilliant ideas to finish it off.

I think going back is such a bad move that it wasn't even considered an option. It traps the Rook and the Bishop itself rendering both useless.
if moving bishop back, then mate is coming in just a few moves, because here is no way to unclog pieces and run away king in time.

Knight to a6 actually doesn't go against ALL chess principles. IMO, one of the principles in chess is not to mistake these principles as necessary developments, but rather as a helping hand to understand how to use your pieces. There are certainly situations in place where principles don't apply anymore, because of the situation.
totally agree and what you pointed out is one of like 20 really exaggerated or just straight up wrong statements made by the video uploader who also apparently can't be bothered to learn the names of openings, get the pieces and squares correct, or calculate any variations. i think for anyone who is beyond beginner level, it's immediately apparent how bad and lazy this commentary is.
Why would his reputation be “ruined forever?” A single loss won’t change his status as one of the greats, and even if he did lose, like you said, she’s a very strong player. I’d cut the overly dramatic language in future videos

Plenty of people could/would latch onto it and it would tarnish his reputation; but it would not tarnish how he presents himself. It has nothing to do with him and everything to do with how the world perceives and treats people. That said the high tier chess community would just see it as a praiseworthy win by Polgar rather than a humiliation of Carlsen. It would be podcasters who don't even care about chess who make a big deal about it.

Beside the common opening move 1. d5 the first move by Polgar (1. ... Nf6) is NOT necessarily King's Indian. We also can get Nimzo-Indian or Queen's Indian for example.
In addition Na6 from Polgar is a very common move in the KID. Why so surprised?

For them that's like a 5% difference. Plenty of room for their unique "personalities" to manifest --- by that I mean, everyone has certain positions they know better than others. Not everyone can be the best at all possible positions. There are likely unique situations where her playing style might give her the advantage.

It's not a surprise that Magnus at his peak crashed an old Judith. What surprised me the most is that she did not know of this trap of the rook. It happens a lot in rook endgames. Even Ra6 was a mistake because it gives the tempo to white. Also she did not see the entrapment of the knight? Really? This is something that any 1000 Elo player knows. I can only assume that she does not play endgames very well, which is really strange for a top ranking player.
I'd chalk it up to tunnel-vision induced by nerves and the narrow time limit.
To be fair Peak Magnus is beating anyone, even peak Judith🤷🏾♂️ and as far as I know, she has won against him, in blitz but never in a classic game. But I did expect more during this game😂
