    I just found out about this today and already I have watched probably more than half. It's interesting that Prince Edward has just been named the "Duke of Edinburgh" and mention of this title was made just a few years before the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip had even passed away. How bittersweet this is to watch clips that include Queen Elizabeth II, the beloved monarch, and her husband, Prince Phillips who both now have passed. I think Prince Edward must have worked on this for a very long while to accomplish the professional level he reached and did it before their passing. I personally have no doubt that both his parents were astounded and pleased with the finished project. He has found his calling for that yearning to be in the "entertainment" industry, for lack of a better word. He is a fabulous narrator and writer. I've enjoyed this so much and look forward to watching more.

    Not only has HRH Prince Edward done an incredible job of writing, directing, and narrating this series, but throughout the music he has selected has been magnificent..

    I love this series! Edward is such a great presenter, so knowledgeable and professional.
    The content is in-depth and presented in a format that really holds the viewers attention.
    It’s one of the best series I’ve ever watched about English history.

    Brilliant! I just love hearing the stories of the history of England from a member of the royal family who is actually in the line of succession. I think it was dramatized in "The Crown" that Edward's efforts in this series were not well received by the public! Rubbish! This series could not have failed to receive public acclaim. It is very well done, and enjoyable.

      Me too - I saw lots of places in London but the day planned for the Abbey it was closed for choir practice! Shock horror!
      Unable to go back another day.
      It was 5.00 pm as Big Ben struck, so we went to the pub across the road! Just a moment in my life.

    HRH Prince Edward has done an absolutely brilliant job on each of these documentaries. While I know it has been a while since these were done it is my hope that he would consider making more in the future.

      @@lsmith9249the best storytellers have to get their facts somewhere. He may have reached out to find facts through research, but how he presented it was perfectly in line as a professional narrator. If you didn't notice, he wrote everything that was ON your presumed teleprompter. Why cast a negative light on a job well done?

    • @lsmith9249
      @lsmith9249 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swissuz No he didn't, documentaries like this have writers and all this series was a failure, Ardent Productions did better in America, but not enough to save it, It lost money every year it operated except for one and that was because Edward didn't have a salary for that year
      by the time he dissolved the company it's assets were worth £40
      at the start he had said none of the programmes he made would have a royal connection
      but every documentary but one had and he was accused of using his royal connections for financial gain

    People of Britain, you are lucky to have your palaces and monarchy intact. Its a treasure. We in Maharashtra, India, miss it as everything is in ruins and people don't feel the need to maintain old buildings. The heritage you have got is your treasure, don't ruin it like us.

    Edward, As I have been in isolation since March, I have been doing a study of the kings of England. Then, I came across your program and it was a great addition to what I had learnt. I enjoyed seeing the very sites I’d read about. I like your casual but enthusiastic way of “ teaching” . Please do another program like tis for us history buffs but, pleas show us where these places are on the map of England. I live in Austral8a.

      He’s a working member of the royal family, and especially now that he’s the Duke of Edinburgh, he won’t be engaged in any further commercial pursuits. But I definitely do appreciate these! ♥️ As a US citizen with much British heritage, it’s quite fascinating and has motivated me to look up many locations on maps. It’s worth the time!!

      I am ecstatic that he has been named the Duke of Edinburgh. All in God's timing. I agree, he may not find time to do this kind of series, but I don't think it will be the end of him in front of the camera! I stopped many times to google the location! It made it more enjoyable.

    It's fascinating to me as an American that all these supposed ancient buildings one associates with the UK aren't that old at all. Houston, founded 1837, is older than the Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Tower and Westminster. Enjoy this series very much thanks for the posting.

    Edward the Confessor ruled England from 1042-1066. Edward was the son of Æthelred the Unready and Emma of Normandy Who are my great great great++... grandparents. I am
    a direct descendent of the Plantagenets they are from Normandie Normandy France. Later as they ruled England for the first 500 years some of these rulers & royals dropped the Plantagenet name.

    • @veeli626
      @veeli626 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sheila Hunter just a question.. if your the DIRECT DESCENDENT wouldn't that make you royalty?

    • @sheilahunter8807
      @sheilahunter8807 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, that’s correct. Although I’m American and I love living in my own country 🇺🇸 of course I am happy and thankful for my English/French etc ancestry. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇫🇷 I am a distant cousin of Her Majesty the Queen Queen Elizabeth II How we are related: HRH Elizabeth II is a descendent of the original rulers of England (The Plantagenets) who came from Normandy (Normandie France ) my ancestors are also the Plantagenets namely King Edward the I and Eleanor of Castile to name one but I’m related to many others I’m always amazed why people are so bothered or so surprised that there are American descendants of European royalty. Some of my recent ancestors settled the English French colonies (my Sweet mother’s side. If you just Google Sheila Hunter actress (if you’d like to check out my Twitter there’s some correspondence between myself and ancestry.com I do a lot of posts about my royal ancestry there as well as here on TH-cam) @kittywaymo There’s actually a link to my DNA results.. my previous career is TV radio news caster for 20 years before fake news LOL CNN headline news CBS etc. I currently am an actress and professional stand in so if you’re that interested in the connections feel free to investigate. :) interesting sidenote my sweet husband‘s family (Stewart’s Stuart various other royal families from Scotland Glasgow and Edinburgh, he was able to visit some of his families castles when he was younger and they gave him an old chest that had some original genealogy in it which was very sweet of them the people that on the castle now. Yes I would love to be invited to Buckingham palace or especially I’d love to see Windsor Castle LOL but I doubt that’s going ever happen there are lots of distant cousins all over the world I’m just one of many. Pss A lot of the early kings and queens didn’t just have an heir and a spare ☺️they had pretty big families with lots of children!

    • @swissuz
      @swissuz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sheilahunter8807 I am also from the United States, and even though it has been centuries since my ancestors came to create the Colonies, I still consider GB my homeland. Not to throw cold water on your ancestry...because there are literally millions of us that have British Royal connections. Many are descended from Edward III. The reasons we are NOT royal now are many...but the most common is that we are descended from siblings whose children eventually were no longer part of the Monarchy. Both my parents have several connections to Royal families and share ancestors with the current royal family. Just knowing that is enough for me. We're also descended from many who were paupers and commoners. That's just the way genealogy works. Best to you Sheila. It really is fun searching at any rate.
