The Hyundai Santa Fe is a large, seven-seat SUV aimed at buyers with big families. A facelift in 2021 introduced a new look, an upmarket interior and an array of new technology. There’s a choice of hybrid and plug-in hybrid petrol engines but no diesel, and there’s the option of two or four-wheel drive. The Santa Fe is now aimed at ‘premium’ SUV buyers with a price tag to match, so can it really steal sales away from established rivals like the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC90? Nicola heads to the test route to find out.

@@murphymagic no. It's a great car. Only criticism is the "upgraded" Krell sound system. It's utterly pathetic. My 2014 Volvo had a better standard sound system. By far.

Great review. Current Santa Fe owner, prefer the looks of the new one to the Sorento, so much so, ordered one.

Why is the diesel version no longer offered in the UK, unlike its Kia Sorento sister car?
That's a very good question. Perhaps Hyundai, launching later, saw a shrinking market for the diesel and decided not to bother. Kia only offers the diesel in mid-spec 3 trim; it may be a case that it's not got long left!
The presenter character just fit that car character especially when she’s setting feels like she is in full control of F35
How many electric miles does the PHEV do on a full charge? How big is the battery? Both key figures I feel were missed from this review.

Another cracking review Nicola. As you say Hyundai have certainly slinked there way from cheaper more utilitarian wagons to a more upmarket brand of chariots. I have to say that I prefer to use the term "popular" instead of "common", it just sounds more upmarket, a bit more posh. Like you I wonder if there are any hidden Easter eggs revealed by pressing a sequence of the enormous amount of buttons, Maybe even a sequence to provide next weeks winning lottery numbers (that'll now up the warranty claims for button failures and doctor visits for finger tip calluses, sorry doc). This thing not only has more buttons than I have fingers but is well on the way to catching up the attention of the Pearly King and Queen as there ideal transport. Now I wonder if there is a button to remind you to pick up the milk on the way home....
A portal to South Korea haha btw this updated interior is a good proposition the center console looks similar to that of a Merc or something and the dash reminds me of the Proton X50 they sell in Malaysia. A very good update.

The VED surcharge on a plug in hybrid proves that the Governments vehicle tax system has nothing to do with a caring of the environment, but a cash horse to drag as much money as possible out of motorists. Nothing new there. On a separate note, Hyundai have done a good job with the new Santa Fe 👍
Interesting. The Santa Fe in the UK has 7 seats....while in the U.S. it only has 5. Odd there's a difference in seating.
US has the HyundaiPalisade which is a 7 seater with captains chairs. It’s essentially a bigger Sante Fe. Not available in Europe
