Dimetredons insulation capabilities scale with their damage, a high level one can even incubate a wyvern egg on its own, so no its not an AC unit, its 15 AC units
Also considerably more portable and requires no electricity
Foxy David which in primitive plus is a godsend as their is no airconditioners
much cheaper than an ac, portable, and easy to tame... grab it with the Argi and bring it to your base, before your tranq it. no need to tame it right in the swamp.
and the only fuel needed is meat, soo much easier than ac, no wires no generators.
Yes dimetrodons are better and easier to get than a airconditioners

Diplodocus are too sweet for Ark. I got one, her name is Doris and I sometimes use her to farm berries and thatch. Got her two Sarcos as bodyguards and a Bronto as her big brother, I love her so much!

My first real big carnivore was a sarco. I was about to die from scorpions, they stop attacking. I wake up, and this sarco is sitting there, knocked out, with the bodies of the scorpions surrounding her. U best believe that I tamed her, and named her mercy, cause she saved me. (Yes, overwatch reference) I still use her to travel in shallow waters, and she packs a punch. Got bored one day, so I made a separate Dino garage just for her. Luv u Mercy.

At max my tribe has one diplodocus, after breeding and maxing it’s weight, it is an amazing building companion.
I captured one on my single player world and uesed him to move my base. It took only one trip. Granted I didn't have a ton of stuff but it still was useful. I named him Puppy because they're so playful.

Diplocus... my only pet, and i don't even use it that often, i actually use it as a portable chest, and he's great, so much weight, so much speed, and I think he's really good, but that's just my opinion

Well its only 20 ac units really at least if you hatch in green zone. but yeah high dmg dimetrodons are worth several ac units each. Annoying to move around the base tho with that huge turning radius. At least you can transfer them and move them to a new base instead of re farming ac units. I prefer a cuddle puddle of otters myself. Easy to tame a bunch on aberration and They look good in hats for bonus points.
otters do the exact same thing, but even better then dimetrodons. 1 otter ALONE can hatch a wyvern egg... now drake eggs are something else, but... it has the ability to single handedly hatch something that is as big or bigger than a wyvern, if not a wyvern itself. soo either way. dimetrodons are uh.... useless... but lets be honest... everyone uses AC’s regardless

Dimetrodons are actually pretty useful on extinction, they spawn in the wastelands but corrupt dinos are ez to clap with a good Argi.

WHAT? Diplodocus?! I use my Diplo all the time for collecting metal -or other heavy things. It can carry a lot and still be fast, unlike brontos and paracers. Not too good in combat, but a damn good pack mule that can carry both me and my two partners.
I use a Paracer for that.
@@eramires both are good but paracer is better. It even has a platform saddle and deals damage. Diplo=easier and safer rex and spino tames (haven't tried giga) and paracer=mobile base. Bronto is a decent tank and platform saddle, but less speed so in total I use paracer just don't use it as a tank

@@startingbark0356 I honestly haven't used either in a looooooong time and even so I think for single player definitely paracer but possibly diplo especially for multiplayer (pretty much the entire use besides speed and weight), but I'm a single player person so that's my opinion. Also on the note of weight and speed what about equus. Their kick deal torpor, they are fast, and they have decent weight.

I pumped up health of diplodocus and used it for acting as tank to tame other dinos and it worked great as it doesn't kill dinos which u want to tame, so its not useless.

I built my base in the swamp after lots of preparations and getting turrets. Set the turrets to wild Dinos only to save bullets, because people are not going into the swamp to attack.
A high level diplo with a tribe on its passenger saddle makes for an amazing way to ram into an enemy tribe base and gunning them down. I was kinda surprised for this to be on here

I love mine due that they are funny as hell. They will try to get close to you by running in circles and knocking shit down. They are the best when need to hold a lot of weight when collecting supplies.

Female megaloceros is i think one of the fastest land mounts (faster than male) and it's not hard to tame whatsoever so it's a good early tame

If you're a high enough level to be in the redwoods or in the snow, believe me, you can get better mounts then that... It would be useful if they spawned in safer areas for an early game mount but even then the parasaur is more useful because that can at least gather you some food...
an early tame in the snow in early game you have shit things on you like if you don't spam the fortitude then good luck

Diplo is amazing at lower levels. It's super easy to tame, just make sure your back is to a wall. It's great for farming berries, has an insane carry weight and lets you traverse the swamp without getting aggro. Most dinos in the swamp don't attack the Diplo. Also, it's adorable.
i know I'm two years late and new to the game but isn't its no damage knockback a pretty big fucking deal? if you need to tame a dangerous dino, won't the diplodocus just... not let them touch you while you tranq?

The dimetrodon is actually super useful. I had AC units around a rock drake egg that weren't helping too much, then I remembered dimetrodons regulate temperatures and it's scaled by its melee damage and even just 2 of them was enough to help incubate my drake egg
Also you don’t need to crouch with bug repellent to tame the Araneo. And it helps get other passive games in a cave. Like the arthropluera, onyc, and titanoboa if you don’t feel like getting so close to getting the boa then a kapro drops from an attack heli then 360 noscopes you and brings you right to the swamp
My private server actually enjoys the diplodocus, but not because of the saddle. [Though the saddle is great for escorting low level players with like no gear.] We use it for it's carry weight. Sure, Brontos have good carry weight, too, but it's faster than a Bronto. When we go on gathering trips with our gathering dinos, we bring the diplodocus to throw the supplies on when things get too heavy, and while it's busy tanking and knocking back hostile dinos, our pack of high level raptors rips them apart.

I use Dimetrodons instead of ac units. They're cheaper to run and I can move them about any time. Plus you get eggs for kibble, making them a great tame

You can tame stuff using a Diplo, since it does not do damage its perfect so it will not lower effectiveness even if it hits after knock out, you can tame bears and other medium size stuff just using the knock back and a slingshot, no need for a taming pen.
Diplodocus weighed as much as 3 elephants combined and could whip its tail at super sonic speeds yet it doesn't do a single bit of damage...THAT MAKES PERFECT SENCE!!!
As someone who plays on prim, dimetrodon one of the most valuable tames in the game. And no, theyre not as easy to tame as you say, they have the fastest torpor drain in the game. Faster than giga

dodo rex No, it's not. I had a lvl 16 Therizino's torpor drop faster than a lvl 116 Terror Bird. Out of all the things I've tamed, the Therizino by far has the highest drop in torpor.
I think diplos are really good! With the recent update they are now only attacked by large Dino's like the bronto. But they are a hell of lot faster. They were built for health and tanking. Mainly as transport Dino's. I use them for metal runs because they're just so much faster than my anky. I leave him on the mountain, have him gather metal, take the metal home, smelt it, become dope. I'm not at the level yet to get amazing quetzals. Besides, because diplos are passive tames you can get them at early levels.

i was Alpha on a pvp Server and every raid every tame we had one or two diplodoccus. one good reason is when you have to harvest recources at a tame the diplodocus knocks enemy dinosaurs back but does your tame no damage

I think the diplodocus was originally meant to have a small platform saddle like the paracer, but they never added it. Not sure if the saddle we have now was just to be a stand in replacement or what, but yea, it's not terribly impressive.
Though, I will say, it is pretty much the fastest dino in its weight class. I could see it being used as a speedy beast of burden, but that's about it.
The araneo actually does have some use, it is just there are much better ways. The web projectiles do act as bolas, and do minuscule damage and small amounts of torpor, but unlike bolas you can just keep webbing things down, and I am pretty sure the web works on more things than the standard bola. I mean, if you were using dinos that do torpor damage using hit and run tactics while the torpor was inflicted over the 10 second duration, then the araneo's web would actually be a great way to compliment this taming method by slowing the target dino down making it easier for the torpor inducing dinos to get in behind it and tranq it down without taking much hits. Trouble is, narcotics are cheap to make, and crossbows not having any cooldown to wait for are just more efficient, even if they do take more resources. Which is kind of unfortunate, because I really would have liked to see taming be able to be more than just constantly beaming dinos with narcotic arrows and the occasional dino that needs a dart to avoid killing it.
The dimetrodon does kind of suck, but the main advantage of it is that it is mobile. An AC has to be built, and once placed it is placed for good. If you were to play with any sort of nomadic play style, not really building any permanent structures, them the dimetrodon would make for a very good tool for being able to breed under these conditions by having a mobile means of incubation. Though, at the same time you could just put ACs on a platform saddle, but the down side to that is the platform build limit restricts the items you can place. A good dimetrodon with high melee can incubate even a wyvern egg using just one dimetrodon, which means rather than a dozen ACs on a bronto eating into your build limit, you can put one dimetrodon in your paracer and incubate whatever you like.
I use the dipper for carrying items, since I’m next to a mountain with metal and crystals. So he’s good for carrying and building

Dimetrodon has been really useful on single player, because it's a portable AC unit. Sometimes I've needed them outdoors, sometimes indoors, sometimes moved them between bases and then you can cryo them to put them away when they're not being used.

I literally love living next to the swamp. Pretty often I can lure a poor titanoboa to my base and have my dinos kill it, they may even show up unprovoked. Since I have dinos set on neutral and stationed around my base, I don't have to worry about food lol.
Diplo's are actually quite useful. Depending on terrain they are great for base defense I had one save my base during a raid. Very Strong Dino especially with a good sat hard to kill indeed. For travel it's great with carry weight and speed. And getting one for soaking isn't to bad. Definitely an underrated dino.
2:20 forgot to mention the 300 narcotics in needs and how the torpor drops so fast you hve to stay with it

Ok so use a tame to pick it up and take it out of the swamp and use it as an egg hatcher I feel like the requirements for this list are pretty loose
2:28 they are pretty useful for insulation, are cheaper than air conditioners, also you cant just chuck meat in them when they are asleep and tame them, you also need to give them some narcotic becuase their torpor drops fast
-Araneo: Good for taming since it can slow things down, normally I will tame one in a cave since I can use it to tame a megalania if I see one since I can slow them down and Knock them out without getting Megarabies.
-Dimetrodon: I have like 5 of them in my base for helping to hatch my dino eggs (And a few ACs), this is very useful for hatching wyvern eggs, rock drake eggs, quetzal eggs, giga eggs, etc.
-Archaeopteryx: I use them sometimes with friends since we don't need to make parachutes when we use them. I breed them and use them in Ragnarok's ice cave to swarm the worms. They work almost as well as Dimorphodons and I can use them to glide down into the arena while the others swarm the queen.
-Diplodocus: I tamed one recently. They run very fast for their size and in my tribe (9 people) all the firepower we can fire from its back combined with its maneuverability helps to tame/kill a lot of threats we run into. It also helps since WE kill the dino, so we all get experience and we can level up quickly by killing things like Rexes and Mammoths.
-Female Megaloceros: Useful for breeding (obviously) and I breed them occasionally to get a higher weight level on them for maximum weight on a male and maximum speed and stamina on the female. I like running around on a female Megaloceros since they can outrun most things you run into and are very easy to maneuver away from threats.
I think the point was there are a lot better things to tame /make than these dinos

The female deer does have a great use in my opinion. Perhaps cause im not a great player and die way to much (mostly single player world) but the speeding to get back to my mount and stuff on the other side of the map, as well as the speed to draw agro and kite safely is a very useful strategy
The diplodocus are the buses I used on my Valguero that is purely for Jurassic Park purposes. We have no mods, but everyone pitches in to make Dino pens. This server is private, and we have a private Discord as well, but I wanted to give you a cool idea
I don’t see how the arch is that bad. Yes they do take keratin to feed but other than that, fast travel, no waste of materials to make parachutes, and easy to escape with it by your side.

You could actually have the megaloceros as a way of farming pelt? I've tamed a few and have them wondering around my enclosure as ornaments haha, but will test out the pelt theory later since I dont always like travelling to the arctic. I also use my diplodocuses as fast material transports, provided that they're guarded by my rexes / allosaurs depending on what im transporting and where.
The archeopteryx kind of reminds me of holding onto a chicken in zelda and gliding with it haha. Never actually found one myself though.
I personally tamed the Diplo for use of weight with my tribute protecting by my side with animals since it helps to carry heaps of metal and crystal and obsidian

well, one reason would be that when you leave the base, you have to dress for the weather anyways. So it's really only useful as a base AC (kibble aside, like the video said). And if you're in your base, you can dress fully for the weather anyways, so you don't really need AC for yourself then.

Yes you PvP gods, a lot of people play PVE this is his opinion. I don't like PvP because I find the environment is usually toxic and people are usually assholes. I also don't like playing in big tribes because it takes the whole fun out of the game when you can have a quetz being tamed a giga being tamed and things like that all at once and you don't have to necessarily even be online. It loses the value for me.

Dimetredons are the BEST incubation! Especially on primitive maps.
Upgrading their melee makes just one dimetredon able to incubate almost any egg. Meaning no supplies needed to make AC units or power. Just give them meat to survive off of for a bit abd you're good
If your asking why they added things like the diplo into the game I would have to say because its a game about dinosaurs. So they add dinosaurs. Not every dino they add has to be useful. They dont need the dinosaur to have some random use for it to be added into a game about dinosaurs!

Diplo is great for single player. Put 8 around your base/ taming pins, most wild dino will stay away, also best storage containers, without having to tame a broncho. Also they're portable stairs , you can run up their head or tails to get to cliffs, especially in abberation that has a no fly zone.
I think the spider has many uses. Sure the weight isn’t good, or the health, but it makes up for it by being able to walk around in caves and get to the artifact without anything aggrovating on you. Even some enemies you can hit and they won’t even attack back. Plus it has a web attack that if your close can work as a mini gun and slows the enemy. Plus it can attack with its bite never stopping for stamina
diplocodus is actually good for traveling in the swamp as it has an op amount of torpidity, Take a pteranodon too, the glitch may work as the pteranodon gets bitten by the titanoboa, BUT THE PTERANODON JUST IGNORES ITS TORPIDITY AT MAX AND JUST FLYS AND ATTACKS IT lol, Also, it probably only works when the pteranodon is flying, just thats all
Honestly the spider should be faster, and have the ability to climb walls like the megalania, like a real spider. (I love spiders im sorry, and im quite disappointed that the areano or however you spell it is so useless ;-;)
The AquaSphere maybe the spider can spin webs like this:
Grapple webs, shot at walls and has to be connected at two points, enables araneos to climb them,needs fire or metal tools to break

Carpets a wall or ground, slows other dinos and sends alarms like: "a thylacoleo is triggering the web"
Trap threads
Laid down similarly to the grapple web, gives the web effect to enemy dinos and breaks after that, also sends a message if laid down on sensory threads

I used female moose to quickly get myself around in pvp early game. Its easy to tame and very fast, and it can haul heavy material back and forth from far away places that I can't reach due to just starting out
Dimetredons are awesome! They look like small spino's, are aesthetically pleasing and just letting them wander on base unless I need them, makes for an awesome provider of any air conditioner. They are one of my favorite **pets** to have on my base.
Diplos is always the first tame I get. They are really good pack mules at early game
After the flyernerf i started using diplos to transport metal.They are fast,has good veight and for defence i use a pack of raptors(learned that from Jimbob ).So at least for me they are not that useless.

Archas are actually really useful in pvp situations. Encumber them with all your best blueprints and gear, and when your base is being raided, use it as a quick getaway. If your base is being hit by wyverns and golems, it's unlikely you'll make it out on a mount, but if your movement speed is good, you can run out, and if you control it well, you can use the archa to cover insane distances in no time at all. Plus, they can defend themselves if they get attacked. Just pump health and melee, with a tad of weight for the extra loot. I've run right through a golems legs holding my archa as it was swamping my solo base and I made it out with all my ascendant loot.

The only thing BAD about the diplo is the fact that it can't damage anything. Every other stat is great! Speedy, great tank, carries a lot, a nice bit of stamina, and if you ever needed it, saddle that can carry a whole tribe. An amazing road-trip companion if you're going in an area you've already explored (because you know if anything dangerous spawns there) and it is something I recommend for ground travel.
I love the Archeo, Its saved me from so many freaking falls it gets ridiculous at times. Sadly its outranked now by the Sinmonacrops but it will forever be loved by me.

I still have the one and only Dimetrodon I have ever seen on Ark in 2017 when I still played the Center and named her Godzilla and she is still with me as of this moment on Crystal Isles and also Bob the Raptor. They are not allowed to be cryoed per my tribe rules and must go to every server with me lol.
i feel like the diplos are good for training turrets and they are an easy healthy tame early game that ive used to distract carnos and raptors
also lots of spiders spawn for me in none cave areas like deserts and cliff areas
