I started playing Ark a few weeks and tamed a low level Pteranodon, I started flying around checking loot drops and got a spyglass drop so decided to return to my base, but on the way back I noticed a glitched dino hanging upside down on a tree and went in for a closer look to see what it was, I now know it was a Thylacoleo I won't make that mistake again 😂

Therizinosaurs is definitely not the easiest to tame. A tribe member and I tried to tame one. It octa killed my dinos me and my partner. They was at a higher lvl than it. It was only at 18. After multiple war battles against this thing, I finally tame one. For anyone new to this game...stay away from this creature until you able to get large bear traps and tranq arrows Lol.
SonDavid Gaming they are not easy no... but they do get stuck in trees alot... that's how I get mine tamed. I'm an oppertunitist 😉

I adore my oversized murder turkey. Aside from the gathering, I love the fact that most predators will leave you alone when you're riding it (provided you don't get too close to the big guys or attack them). One of the best tames for ground travel and taking into the swamp, in my opinion.

griffins may be a flier and were nerfed but they have that dive that you can use to speed up if you pull up before hitting the ground, easily the fastest flier and possibly the fastest un-upgraded mount, that ground pound is devastating and its easy to tame if you have mutton or raw prime and some tranq arrows, no saddle needed for them either. Good health, good stamina, high attack range, good weight, plus two people can ride at once and it has rider weaponry, all around just a really awesome mount.
i've never tamed a griffin where do you find them on aberation you mostly find them on the surface but how do you get up on the surface someone please tell me

Giga is the most useless tame u can have.
At 3:20 you mention's flyers not being that usefull anymore, as an avid fan of flyers i'll have to disagree.
They might not have the same stam nor speed, but they do get you from point A to B at a decent speed and not to mention 99% safe.
Argent can also be used to collect dinos you want to tame.
And Quetzel is just a flying smelter, get a platform, get some furnaces, and go out and come back the next day with a ton of metal.
Just because something is not overpowered anymore, doesn't make it Obsolete.
Other then that, decent list, i'm a bit surprised that Quetzal only got third place however.
Exactly, once you tame a flyer, things become easier. You can get to supply drops early game at level 38 a lot easier (pteranodon saddle). You can use pteranodons to easily take care of large predators as well. You see an alpha t-rex near your dodo bird farm...no problem, take it out with your pteranodon. Not to mention, you can build a flying base on a quetzal as well. I used to have a transport quetz on an official server that I'd pack with several ankylos and some wolves for protection when she is just standing there. Once the ankylos were done being filled, load them back on the quetz, and go back home.
I agree but I play on Ragnarok and I like wyverns more but on the island flyers are the best all you have to do is buff them up a bit and your good other than that pretty good list

The Mammoth is best at gathering wood. Theri's are good at getting lots but they get overencombered fast. They are a good alternative. The woods weight is reduced in the Mammoth and it has a large carry weight. The Beaver once upon a time was better, but ever since they gave the Mammoth wood reduction too it's far superior not to mention they can defend themselves good at high levels so taking them far for gathering won't be a problem. Theri's are great mounts one of my favorites. If you need mushrooms, rare flowers, berries, fiber, hide and wood they are the jack of all trades. They can kill nearly anything except for of course a Giga. They really shine in the swamps. They don't attract much attention there while mounted. The Ankylosaurus and Doedicurus are must have to ease the burden of gathering stone, obsidian, metal, crystal, Flint and oil. You will get your base built a lot quicker with these guys. If you need thatch use a Bronto, Male deer, or wyvern. Thylo's are fun mounts and best used as scouts.
NXS1FY your wrong theriznosaurus I tested it out the the riznosarus got more it is the best at getting wood.
Master of games. Yes it gets more per tree but it can't carry as much as a Beaver or Mammoth because stacks of wood weights less there for Mammoths are best as they have more weight and can carry lots more so i am not wrong. A Mammoth can carry thousands without getting overencombered. Not to mention that dododex has the Mammoth the top wood gatherer for the simple fact they have a higher carry capacity and stacks of wood only weigh 25 in the Mammoth inventory. You need to read what I previously wrote in the beginning. I said the Theri gathers lots but get overencombered fast. They are a great alternative.

Argentavis is good right off the bat. Can fly, deals good damage, good carry weight, and is a portable forge so you can repair your metal tools on the go.

Yo! I remember that, I got the boxset when I was nine at Christmas I think. I was so happy I watched it all that night. I was such a fricken' dino nerd, and I'm proud.

I have a 144 argentavis and I still find it incredibly useful, good damage and health it can take down T. rex incredibly easily, good weight and Stamina ( tamed it at like 120 or something)
Edit: it’s also incredibly good for early game due to it being a lot better than pternandons

I completely agree with 1 exception. The trike/morellatops should be in top 5. The reason for that is they are ungodly berry farmers and they can both kill most things around their level. Best early game dino. My 1st tames every game
If you have the timing down you can even take down alpha raptors without taking a hit with a low level trike because of the knock back in their attack
Trikes are always my first tame, as they can take most beach creatures and are tanky af, I took out a low level bronto that was in my base with 2 trikes tanking it. They are also my my favourite Dino!

I have never tamed one of those crazy cats. Seems like it fills the role I use the bear for and I love the bear. Generally having something try to claw off my face upsets me and I've murdered a few high level cats and been like, "hmm, wonder if I should have tamed that?" Now maybe I will! Thanks man.

Here are dinos to tame when level 1 in sequence: dodos and one trike, pteras and dilos, doedi and anky, saber, carnos. Setup crop plots first asap and fertilizer bins so it won't be hard for those narcotics berries. Dodos and dilos and carnos key for those kibble. Find those very low levels only if no kibble for it.

I remember I tamed 4 Theri’s for my tribe then the very next day when I was the only one online the alpha tribe went to my base demanding that I give them the 4 tames. They told me “it’s either the tames or the base”.
I left that server the very next day.
I am really starting to love Dimorphodons. Those little skullhead birds are pretty badass once you get their life over 1000, I originally had one just cuz it was cute on my shoulder, but I kept leveling it and it took out a Sarco on it's own. So I got a wing of 5 and leveled up their damage, life and speed and we are unstoppable. Totally getting more.

I think the animal every player needs to tame the most is dodos cause in pvp they can be your ultimate weapon I like to tame a whole bunch and drop a shit of them all on aggressive on a base they distract the enemy plus I strap c4 to all of them so their base just goes boom

I had all of these In my old game. I made my base in the red woods up on a mountain and made them all little feeding stations so they could chill when i wasn't using them. I'm sure I still have my old save.
The terino is amazing tamed it in a public server and it took on an alpha Raptor, But it took 3 hours according to my tribe mate, it took about 200 narcotics it was roughly around level 20-30 its 47 now

I subscribed because you've helped me a lot
List is pretty spot on IF you are an end game player with a friend or 2. The Doed and Anky are essential no matter who you are. If you are starting out or alone and want some tames that are not as intimidating....
1. Swap the Theri for a Dire Bear. You get the saddle at level 45 as opposed to 69 (wink) for the Theri. It gets all the same things a Theri does for the most part, and is also pretty tanky and fast once you get a sprint going. The tame is also easier.
2) Swap the Quetz for an Argentavis. Saddle at 62 instead of 76 for the Quetz...and that's a big difference believe me. It's pretty fast with good stamina and can kill herbivores for meat in a pinch. It's saddle is also a Smithy...which is amazing to have on the go.
3) Getting a Direwolf while you level to 51 to get the Thylacolea saddle is ideal imo. Doesn't require a saddle so you can tame it as soon as you can knock it out. Pretty decent gatherer and gets pack bonuses in fights.
Honorable mentions: 1) Ptera, you know, because you don't want to be stuck on the ground until level 62. 2) Dung Beetles...because agriculture is key to all kibble cooking and fertilizer is the best way to keep that going full speed ahead. 3) Anything that can ride on your shoulder and defend you against random attacks (Monkey, Pegos, Microraptor, etc.) They take literally minutes to tame with easily accessed resources and can save you or your mounts life by taking agro and giving you the chance to get away.
Good video. If I could choose to have any 5 tames regardless of level or difficulty, yours are the ones I would choose. Hopefully early game players will find the substitutes useful. Keep up the good work.

To do this list right, you need early game, mid game and late game. Early on, moschops is awesome....no saddle needed so a level 1 can tame them if they get lucky and it needs the right food.

Whenever I don’t want to find a Theri, I find a Theri. Whenever I *WANT* a Theri, none at all.
Also, I had a level 40-50 Baryonyx kill a Theri
I got a level 45 bary and it's the hardest hitting dino in my tribe 1- shot a level 40 bronto

ReZisT Lust lol no narcotics are used to make tranq arrows,darts or anything to do with tranquility and they can be eaten to raise torpor on you or a dino :)

Not been playing long but three of your top five are in my most fun to use (am part of a tribe so there are collective dinos I can borrow to make resource runs and there's something therapeutic about smashing stone, the Anky especially (mines an egg right now))
The Trike is up there though and it was my first tame as well, was an easy to understand tame, the charge is great and the more I practice with it the better I get at fighting other dinos. It has a low skill floor because it's so tanky and a high skill cap because of the utility.
Obviously the more I get into it the more I will care about efficiency but right now Raptors seem awesome, just the mobility of the things, being fast and able to turn around is good. I definitely want a murder chicken having watched this though
If you are starting a new game I recommend the first tame to be: dodo, then get a dilo then another dilo then a parasaur then pteranodon then trike and get whatever Dino you want after

Takes hours to tame and plus if you find a good spot where me and my friend are therizino's are way to common so we just got a spino megladon and a parace and also....

The doedicurus I tamed is pretty much a pouncer stopper. I was almost pounced from the back while leading this guy to a quarry then he batted that raptor. Same goes with argies and sometimes even the griffin itself! Playing on mobile though.

I'm glad to see the thylacoleo on the list. He's my favorite land based dino to use: great all-terrain mount, solid swimmer, great for mountain climbing, especially on ragnarok, and has the power to rival to a trex in terms of damage and health.
I would disagree about therizino being a standard tame though. Those motherfuckers can move very quickly for something their size and their claws can break stone, so you have to be careful when taming these bastards. not to mention that once they're passed out, they take A LONG time to tame unless you have a decent supply of the right kibble and their torpor goes down very quickly.

I used a soothing balm to tame one fairly quickly, it was only level 9 tho. That’s high level for me lol
I can confirm, me and my tribe tamed one once and jeez it took forever, we were also on the border of the swamp so we kept getting attacked by sarcos and other creatures
