      I also use banana instead of nut butter and 1/4 cup applesauce instead of 1/4 of the "milk" and 6 medjool dates instead of 10. I also make per recipe. Both are good, but different.

      the dough wasn't super sweet (but this part might depend on the dates you use/find at your store) but the raisins are sweet enough.
      I'd say give it a try as it is and if you need more sweetness... maybe add some syrup or more dates? xx

    I made these cookies today. FANTASTIC!! I could have ate the batter by itself before baking them. As usual I tweeked it a bit. Used more oats, more oat flour, a little more cinnamon. Used peanut butter cause my local grocery was out off almond butter. Also added 2 TBS of unsweetened Cacao powder. Also, used a few more dates. Will be making this again.

    These are really delicious guilt free cookies. I can let my nephews eat as many as they want. I did make two slight modifications. Instead of the plant milk, I used two over-ripe mashed bananas, just because I had them on hand. Also I recently discovered a very moist date, at an Iranian deli. These ones are so moist, they are kept in the refrigerated section of the store. They are simply divine, and very easy to blend. It's amazing how good these cookies taste despite having no oil or butter in them. I will never go back!

      What brand are the dates?

    • @NLR759
      @NLR759 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't recall the brand name, it was a brand from Turkey or Iran that I didn't recognize. i have bought several different ones, and they are all very similar. If you look for fresh dates in an ethnic or Persian grocery store, they should be stored in the cooler section. They usually come packaged in a cardboard box, lined with plastic.

    I made this recipe this morning. They are delicious! I used peanut butter, though, since I don't have almond butter. It's amazing how dates can be used for a sugar substitute. I love dates and they are so good nutritionally. Before knowing about your cooking show, I was wondering if there was a way to not use butter or margarine in recipes. I've been tweaking recipes by using flax egg instead of eggs and using honey instead of sugar. I like using oat flour, too. The day after I was thinking about how to not use butter or margarine, your channel popped up. I thank the Lord for answering my question! I look forward to trying more of your recipes.

    I must try these cookies with a cup of tea. Hmmm.
    Edit: Today I did try them with a cup of tea and they are lovely. I changed the recipe slightly though. I added a quatre of the amount of nut butter (100% peanut butter), 1 ripe banana, and I halved the amount of raisins because that looked like more than enough. In hindsight, I shouldn't have done this as the cookies aren't quite as sweet as I would like them. Also, my cookies ended up slightly overbaked. My fault as I changed the recipe slightly and turned my fan oven to 180C which is very slightly hotter than the recipe calls for. (Unit conversions!)
    Note to self: don't skimp on the sweet stuff and keep an eye on the goods when they are baking. Thanks for the recipe :)

    I made these again tonight and like last time used peanut butter. But, instead of raisins I used chopped dates and cranberries. Also, I used two packets of apple cinnanmon oatmeal along with regular oatmeal. Another little tweet was to soak the dates and cranberries in hot water for about 3 to four minutes to reconstitute them.
