Fun fact: in the scene where pearl gets her memories back, we can see pearl in her design from the pilot for a few seconds

@@Lukinhas_Lua Yes, but that scene was notable because it showed Pearl's form from the non-canon pilot as an easter egg.

Fun fact: during Steven, Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst's respective parts in "Happily Ever After", you can actually hear the instrumental of songs they have sung in previous episodes. We hear "We Are the Crystal Gems" for Steven, "Strong in the Real Way" for Pearl, "Stronger than You" for Garnet and "Tower of Mistakes" for Amethyst.
Fun fact: when amethyst was regaining her memories, she went through all previous forms, but that also includes the forms she took like when she pretended to be pearl or had overexaggerated body parts

A fun fact that I like about this movie is the voice actors for Opal and Steg actually collab together on songs quite often.
id really like to see a slightly longer reaction to some of the main songs actually focusing on the music and the mesaages in them
My favorite fact about this movie is that for Spinel's animations they studied early animations, like loony tunes and even stuff before then. It gives her a quality of being from the past and even someone who is stuck in the past.
The creator rlly wants to bring it back so maybe we'll see some more of steven in the future
A few neat things about the music, in order
-the diamonds sing in a style that’s very reminiscent of 50s trios; stuff like ‘mr sandman’ and all that. It’s supposed to be symbolic of how they’re kind of out of their element and out of the time where they ‘belonged’
-yes Steven is still Zach Callison. I’m so impressed by his vocal performance especially considering he was /actually/ prepubescent when the show started and had to maintain that voice after his real voice dropped during production of the og series. I’m sure it’s a big relief to him to be able to do a Steven voice without having to put on his pre-puberty voice, cus that’s actually p hard
-Pearl’s VA Dee Dee Magno-Hall is actually a Broadway singer. Garnet’s VA Estelle is a pro singer too but I think being a musical theatre singer gives a lil extra experience for acting in a show like this
-I did not know Uzo Aduba (voice of bismuth, also famously in orange is the new black) could sing til this
-Steven and amethyst have a great sibling dynamic that I love, since amethyst is pretty young by gem standards she had more of a big sister role to Steven than a mom role like pearl and garnet do, and it’s soooo great in No Matter What
-something awesome abt fusions is their physical appearance is partly based on how the parts of the fusion feel about each other. Like, Garnet looks so cool because Ruby and Sapphire both think each other f’n rules. Steg looks like a total chad bc Steven thinks his dad is the coolest guy in the world and Greg thinks his son is the coolest guy in the world. That’s so precious to me 🥺 they love each other so much
-I don’t think I can even say anything abt Drift Away that wasn’t already there, except that, we are seeing Rose’s character development in reverse. The first things we ever heard abt her was how she was towards the end of her life, but she spent a lot of time being sheltered and making mistakes, and doing things that are straight up cruel but she just didn’t have the emotional intelligence needed to know how F’ed up that was. Fans had a lot of discourse around rose/pink being a terrible person but personally I don’t think she was. I think she just inadvertently hurt people by by being immature, which happens pretty often in the real world if we’re being honest. People love to act like they’ve never inadvertently been shitty to a former friend bc they had teenage brains but come *on.*
-the ‘true kinda love’ scene almost gave me End Of Evangelion vibes what with the ‘chill soundtrack for the end of the world’ sht
-Other Friends wasn’t really in this off vid bit cus it was in the main vid but Spinel and the Diamonds are both characterized as using outdated musical styles, the diamonds use a 50s trio style and spinel’s song is a modernized version of swing. Spinel is also animated in a very specific style reminiscent of old timey animated shorts, it’s a style called ‘rubberhose’ where the limbs are kinda noodly like in old Merrie Melodies cartoons. I think it’s super neat how the styles of music and animation are used to make these characters feel sort of out of place and are integrated later on to make them fit.
I love these songs so much. If i were to give my favorites, it would go
1. Drift Away
2. No Matter What
3. Isnt it Love
4. Other Friends
5. Change
But these songs were so hard to rank because theyre all incredible imo
