    Excellent! Super video for those who don't have an air compressor, spray gun, orbital sander, ventilation system, etc. The host of the video kept the process understandable and digestible! Thank you.

    Great demo of the Tubby Kit application, a perfect product for restoring old baths to as good as new for a fraction of the price of a new one.😃

      Not "as good as new" that finish won't last 100+ years. You're going to have to put in the time and expense to have it last the ages, I bet you're also that person that puts Bondo on an antique/classic car rather than literally putting and iron in the fire and using lead... Reason why they call those old cars "lead sleds". That's the difference between a true restoration and some piss-poor substitute. A metal car should be just that, metal, learn to weld, leard to solder. You want to refinish an old tub, learn to do a porcelain finish, anything else is just a half-assed attempt and a waste of hard work.

    Was just looking into various bath enamel restore videos and had to watch this one. Why? We have the exact same bath 😂 same shape same feet, same taps. Couldn’t find a better guide if we tried 🎉

    Hey, I have those exact same feet attachment slots. What hardware is required to properly attach those feet? Thanks in advance.

    Is spraying just as good, or do you recommend using a roller?

    Old enamel has lead in it. This is a great video but the person should have been wearing a tight fitting and 95 mask or better yet a respirator from 3M!

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are absolutely correct, we should have used a better mask.

    Great video, thank you. I have a similar bath as this that needs re-finishing. How flat was the finish when the paint dried? I ask as a relative re- painted their cast iron bath and the finish was dog rough - I actually took skin off my arse whilst having a bath. No idea what they used to paint it on though.

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are painting it with roller so it is not perfectly smooth like car paint, it is a bit more eggshell.

    Great video. We have just used Tubby's on a 50 year old avocado enamel, cast iron bath. All good except a couple of areas that have pitted and the paint hasn't covered fully. Can we re -apply another coat of Tubby's over the finished bath? How would you prepare the bath for a recoat? Can you recommend any other course of action?

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can re-apply Tubby but you will need to sand down the coating to get a good key.

    Hi, can you recommend a touch up paint, I have resurfaced and it's absolutely brilliant but some dust landed during the drying process and I want to sand a small section and give it a light coat, cheers

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe you can pick out the dust with a blade then with an enamel touch up pen just spot in the pin hole, but make sure you check the colour first as not all whites are the same.

    Hi can you please update on how well this application has lasted over time thanks

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If applied correctly as in the video it will last years, I did a bath in my old home that is still going strong after 25 years.

    Could Tubby also be used to refinish an old farmhouse sink?

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it would work, just make sure you remove the shine of the sink first to create a good key.

    How did you clean the outside? With chemicals? Wire brush? Products? I have seen some recs for wire brush -- but I wonder if that scratches up more?

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't use a wire brush on a drill as it could leave lines in the old paint that you can see after over painting, We used an electric sander and went through the grades starting with a 80 grit then 120 grit then 240 if you want it super smooth.

  • @csuzy6464
    @csuzy6464 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you sand outside? Or just clean & what did you use for outside before paint?

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes always sand every part of the bath then clean using a solvent degreasing chemical before painting

    What if the tub has rust on the outside? What do i do first?

    • @renovateinnovate
      @renovateinnovate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sand back the rust the best you can then apply a rust converter/ inhibitor
