It would be great a high resolution Z7III: - 80 megapickles, capable to deliver 12k video, even if it is 8bit 4-2-0 and with not so good rolling shutter. So, being photography oriented the high resolution can translate into video too. - Nikon disrupting the market with a medium format sensor, a 44mm x 33mm one of the Sony 50mp or 100mp, or maybe a sensor from other manufacturer. If Nikon achieves to accommodate a MF sensor (44x33) in to the Z mount and can sell the camera bellow Fuji GFX prices then Nikon would have a big big win here. Even if because the Z mount the sensor loses 1 or 2 millimeters in real use (image cropped to 42 x 31).
I don't think another 45mp sensor makes sense. It has to offer something different than the Z8, the only question is how high in resolution it will go.
It seems that Nikon and Sony are keeping a step ahead of Canon. While many are feverishly waiting for the Canon R5 mk2 with 45 megapixels, Nikon may be raising the bar with the Z7 or Z8 upgrades with 60+ megapixels. That's why I'm waiting on how all this flushes out by year end to see if and what I want to upgrade with.
Hold on Simon .. thanks to my backlog watching you, I can share you an update from Nikon rumors .. sounds like for whatever funny reason the 4 "new" registrations are linked to already released (and earlier registered) camera's 😛 What remains are 2 real registrations for upcoming gear, and they assume these are Z6iii and some P1000 successor. I read the CR opinion by Richard about the Magnesium .. and his logic makes plenty of sense to me .. could also be why Cathy is still awaiting her 200-800 😞
The one thing that could be happening, and it would be so funny, Fuji is taking over the Camera market and all the other Brands have to Discount just to keep up. All these yTubers that get Camera Gear to review for free, and or Flown for Free to Japan, aka the Panasonic S9, might be the Camera's industry Worst Enemy. I say this because almost all of them want to claim it's the Photographer, not the Gear. The longer term effect likely has been far more just using their so called Smart Phones as opposed to anything else. Why else according to some of these Camera Brands Ambassadors, should they use anything else. Another thought, the Overall Camera Market could again be in steady decline, so no Rush for most Brands to actually bring out new gear anytime soon. Nikon having 6 registered cameras and we likely 100% know 3 of them. The other 3 might be just forced updates due to European Regs. I would be shocked if Nikon brought out a Camera with more then 61MP. Or even a proper D500 replacement.
I think the Z7iii will be 61mp to position it distinctly from the Z8. At least, that’s what I’m hoping.😊
Hardest working man on TH-cam! Thanks for all the updates Simon 👍🏻
I won't argue with hat ;)
Nikon is looking pretty good to jump to
Don’t forget the Z5 at 996.95 US sale price.
Thanks for the information
Thanks for watching.
Z30 body with full frame sensor and call it Z4 for $1,000
The S1H ii is also missing.

61mpx would be some nice diversity in the Nikon lineup, if it does come to fruition I might consider buying it together with one of those 14-24 f2.8
Who’s REDDY for what’s to come? 😉🔴
Simon, you’re right about possible delays with Canon and Nikon but Lumix, Leica, and Fuji came through on schedule with their announcements.
