- Never slag off A.I. * THERE SEEMS TO BE A GLITCH FROM 17:03 TO 20:55 where you will just see a black screen. I don't want to upload the video again, so please just fast-forward to 20:55. All you miss out on is me talking about a restaurant recommendation and Minature Wunderland. Thanks you AI. Point taken!**
With all the talk about AI at the moment, I thought I would try an AI generated itinerary and follow it's recommendations around Hamburg for a day. Was it the best thing since the floppy disk, or was it a total disaster?

In terms of your video I think AI stands for Awfy Interesting. But give me a Scott Manson itinerary over AI any day! Brilliant stuff mate!
A viewer has mentioned a 3-minute glitch berween the 17-21minute mark. Sure enough... no video and no audio. Probably where an ad break should be. That must be AI getting its revenge after me slagging it off.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣@@PlanesTrainsEverything
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh Scott, DB might not be watching, but I am. Want me to post or drop off one or more of the yellow departure boards?
Brilliant video as always Scott up until 17:13 but then black screen and no audio until 21:03
Me too
Probably some sort of video editing problem, or copyright attack causing YT to black out that part and mute it.
Me as well. You just see the tram service and them boom black.
Ran out of coffee😂
Same as everyone else.
One more AI bad idea - placing your camera in an unlit, soundproof closet for four minutes...
Epic how you were able to cue the duck at 28:46 to quack at exactly the correct time.
Around 17.05 there's no video/sound just darkness for around 4 mins. Enjoyed the video but might have given AI a half for the zoo idea.
That's Hamburg for you.
I thought it was my internet connection at first. I hope we didn’t miss too much!
AI strikes back.
Here to..
Dear oh dear!
I was in Hamburg in January. Fun factoid, the Elbe tunnel was based on the Clyde tunnel in Glasgow.
The Cart, carriage and then car lift one or them others, the Autobahn ones?
The sleeper train you were so keen to see is the newly introduced SJ (Swedish Railways) service from Hamburg Altona to Stockholm introduced just before Christmas last year. Interestingly, it initially only ran with couchette cars as the sleeper cars had not yet ben approved to run in (I stand to be corrected on which country it was) Denmark and Sweden. The NightJet service runs from Hamburg to Wien and Innsbruck and utilises the new stock from Siemens (all sleeper compartments now have en-suite showers and toilets). Regarding MiWuLa (Miniatur Wunderland, there is something wrong with your AI saying it takes 3 hours, more like 3 days to see it (it's spread over two building on opposite sides of the canal (there is a bridge linking them) and four floors)!
Love your sense of humour. Great videos.keep them coming!
Managed to see the end of the program today. Keep up the good work and looking forward to the next one 👍
at 28:46 fantastic timing by the ducks
I`m surprised the old fish market in Hamburg was not recommended by AI... GREAT video and good to see Hamburg again
You are really inspiring by all those travelvlogs! keep up the good work greets from holland
Fantastic video! 👏
I thought we Dutchies were cheap, but the Scott's are not to be messed with 😂
Not cheap , but frugal.
@janetmackinnon3411 you're right. That was the word i was looking for.
Do u know how copper wire was invented?
Two Scotts men fighting over a penny.
The Germans are quite thrifty too - they created Aldi and Lidl. Thrifty is another term. I worked too hard for my money to waste it.
And in fact you're still being a little too generous towards them: you've donated them an extra letter.
The Scottish save money on ink and only use a single t, thus "Scots."
Intresting Video, caught my eye as I'm heading to Hamburg with my Son in May, funnly enough staying at the same hotel and visiting Minature Wonderland. Thanks for the video :)
My son and i spend a weekend in Hamburg about 18 years ago mainly to visit the Miniature Wonderland. We were in there for roughly 6 hours and even then didn't see it all.. They have since expanded quite a bit and I don't think 3 hours is sufficient if you really want to see as much as possible.
There is another, bigger and older football club in Hamburg namely the Hamburger Sport Verein or HSV for short. Unfortunately, they play in the 2.Bundesliga at the moment as well.
Great video Scott really enjoyed it
Great Video Scott
AI challenge against Mr Marsh in Amsterdam? Who can visit the most number of recommended places in 12 hours at the cheapest cost.
Amsterdam is a busy tourist city, so that's not nice for Mr Marsh. Drop him off at Texel, that's fairer
Either my browser has a malfunction or some parts of the video are without video/sound, otherwise an very nice video😊
It happened to me on a Roku as well
Enjoyed your trip to Hamburg once again your sense of humour made me laugh 😂
You can easily cut out the 4 minutes of blank with the TH-cam editor if you want to 🙃
Ah, thanks for that. I knew you could modify the audio, but not the video itself. Good tip. Have you ever had that glitch happen to you? It was a first for me.
The crypt was creepy in the church. Weather makes me want to go back to the hotel, watch tv, and go to bed early.
There used to be posters with every departure on it in Glasgow Central a few years ago. It was in a turning flipchart style.
Great video. Makes me want to go back again. I'm surprised the International Maritime Museum wasn't mentioned although I was in for over 5 hours and still didn't see everything.
Another fantastic video Scott. Thank you as always.
Hi Scott, great video as always. If your AI search was based on Chat GPT, it has limited knowledge of anything that was published on the internet after 2021.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Scott ✌🏻🤗!
I’m quite surprised, AI didn’t suggest to have a nice stroll through the „Portuguese Quarter“ almost opposite the Landungsbrücken, where the old 3-Master „Rickmer Rickmers“ is anchored and the Quarters are just across from the old Tower!
Great scenery and some good Restaurants where you can enjoy hearty nosebags!
Perhaps you want to give that scene a try, next time you’re in Hamburg 😘!
By the way, ever been in Bremen?
I‘m sure they have an abundance of places to go, but there’s something special to Bremen, we, as a School class visited some 51 years ago!
Could be a little bit morbid, macabre and scary, but the „Bleikeller“ (translates into Lead-Cellar“), a Crypt with a number of old corpses that, due to having been exposed to the toxic environment for decades if not centuries, are on display in open coffins sealed with glass panes!
Those corpses really look like made from parchment!
„Lead mummies 🧟♂️🧟♀️“ 😘!
Good vid mate
Scott, great video idea. I hope you are going to try AI again in some other city! Enjoyed this challenge.
I was last in Hamburg in 1959 and was acosted by a streetwalker. When her offer of business was declined she responded with "Filthy British"
26 mins Volvo P1800 like the Saint drove. There is one in Glasgow transport museum.
Nice watch, Scott! No other would do for a train buff, I guess. 😁
We were on hamburg in September ... a couple more free suggestions .. go take a look where the beatles took residency for gigs before they were famous . Just off the rieperbahn . Go spend some time around the alster lake . Beatiful and the locals go thrre to chill out at the weekends . A few little bars on the lake side . Great city
Great video
Absolute quality scott, I’ve avoided such stuff in my travels as I’m definitely an AI sceptic and this confirms it. I’ll definitely revert to just following my nose like I’ve done for years 😂😂😂
The Swedish train is not that bad, maybe old, my friend said, but rides very well and you can get single rooms to sleep in
Just back from Hamburg last month. The viewing plaza is always free to visit. The 3 Euro is only if you want to book a time slot. There is a small coffee bar and shop as well as the posher places.
Another excellent video! Was the blank bit in the middle AI exacting revenge for a bad review?
Thank you--useful stuff!
Interesting video Scott, except for when the AI took over halfway through.
Would love to see a Hamburg to Stockholm by train video, when you get the chance!
One of my favourite things about travel is planning the trip, doing the research and learning more about our destination. I don't think I'll be going the AI route any time soon.
Well it can be used for suggestions to research a bit further. It's no worse than human suggestions which are often flawed
Sehr interesting Scott!
Interessant
Our phrase was GIGO - garbage in, garbage out. Shame about the mid-film blackout. Looking forward to the next video.
Another must-see in Hamburg is the posh Jungfernstieg and the Alster.
This was a great vlog. You have such a nice way of presenting all the challenges you faced in Hamburg. Your humorous approach is so refreshing. Take care, safe travels. Cheers
As ever - great vlog, Scott. Thank you. Just back from 4-nights in Hamburg. Used Google Maps to good - and reliable - effect. Stayed at one of 6 Premier Inns in Hamburg - sorry to say this, but vastly better than your room looked & at similar price. In any case, I don't use Accor hotels because they still trade in Russia!
Zoos, the cinema, museums, galleries - all places that are significantly better when visited alone. We need to change the societal norms! 😊
A curate's egg of a video. What AI package did you use? Well done on the timely duck!
Really interesting video Scott. I was wondering what your were going to do around AI. I remember you mentioning it a while ago. I made a vid a few months ago where I asked ChatGPT to plan my day out. It was a weird experience all round.
I need to get some St Mirren stickers - loved that 😂🎉
Brilliant as always you really need some st mirren stickers to start plastering about
Great idea for a video
I think you should have tried the art gallery and zoo...get you out of your comfort zone
Beautiful Hamburg ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I spent many nights in the Ibis Budget in Salford Quays, Manchester, the only difference for my eyes was the ladder for the Bunk. regarding the extractor fan, you had the shower light on and I imagine the fan was working overtime because the light was on and no steam traveling through it
I love it that all the travel bloggers (incl me) film pushing the elevator button!! Don't we all love elevator buttons??? LOL!!! ;-) nice video
Nice swiss watch - very appropriate
In general I agree with your assessment of the AI suggestions. The exception is the zoo. I think that's a fine suggestion. Many people go to zoos alone, and they tend to be enjoyable year round. Perhaps it doesn't match your specific personality, but without countless questions, it would be hard to tailor the suggestions quite so well. Recommending a breakfast at a restaurant that doesn't open until later in the day or recommending attractions that are closed, though, is ridiculous.
The Mary Celeste of Parks there my friend x
Having an ad break, you can’t go to Hamburg without a beatle reference, still 10 minutes to go fingers crossed
I rarely go to zoos with anyone else, they make me move too fast and I can't enjoy checking out the critters as much. To each their own! Interesting video overall, and a good indication that AI needs to be roundly ignored.
Interesting... Hamburg is on my bucket list with the 2 nain attractions being Miniatur Wunderland and the Airbus factory tour, which AI appears to have overlooked although prebooking is essential. The city centre looks interesting and rich in architecture
For me, planning is one of the most enjoyable parts of travelling. So not a chance I would let AI or someone else do that for me.
Love Hamburg but the last time I was there was in the late 1980's when you could do a mini cruise from Harwich
I loved Hamburg. I was there on a business trip as an interpreter for my boss. Great big lake in the city centre populated by roaming gangs of 50+ in line skaters.
A very interesting vlog
My all time favourite City.Been travelling there since 1997 and long may it continue.
It's nothing to do with money. AI isn't intelligent. It's a massive data aggregator. So the history museum will have appeared millions of times on the internet, but only a few (comparatively) will have noticed the closure to 2027 so that would have been overwhelmed. So it still gets recommended.
it's most likely not AI at all, but merely a decision table, selecting suggestions from a database based on dynamic queries determined by your input to the questions.
I've written those things (and better than this one by far) as far back as 25 years ago and they weren't new even then, the only new things we introduced around that time was a web interface.
Come on Scott! We're all dying to know what we missed half wsy through the video😂😂
He passed out because he didn't get breakfast and coffee.
Almost 25 minutes until you got up to cruising altitude Scott. I was getting worried! ☕️
I do need to add Hamburg to my itinerary list of places to visit. I have done a few cities in last year and more planned this year so maybe next year.
I went to Berlin zoo on my own Scott. I had a great time!
Ah Hamburg, excellent city. The Elbephilharmonie plaza has been free both times that I've visited, I think you just pay to book a slot online, not that it's needed in my experience Had a very nice bit of cream cake in the plaza cafe. The church looks beautiful, must visit if I get back there. Saw it this time last year on a cruise visit from the transfer coach and thought I saw someone climbing the very exposed spiral staircase - is it not possible to get all the way up as a visitor?
Hi Scott, you need to edit out the 3 minutes of darkness and reload it. Other than that was great as usual
##Scott problem with video; mine was at 17.02 for 4 minutes. Black screen. Aside from that..I’m really enjoying it as ever 👍
I'll be in Hamburg next Sunday as I'll be on a cruise, but, i dont think i will be leaving the ship as Hamburg seems to be closed on a Sunday.
PTE, can you cut the black screen from the TH-cam video editor without having to upload it again? Love your videos by the way.
You do have issues with Technology Scott. Blank screen at 17:13
There's a giant WWII concrete bunker right next to St Pauli, which is far more interesting. I know of one fan of brualist architecture who would appreciate it. Buildings don't get any more brutal.
AI must be getting its revenge - hence why the video is blank from minutes 17 to 21.
Tallyho! Scott. Germany is a great place to visit.
Interesting video and great sound as usual (apart from the black hole of Calcutta at the 17 minute mark). Please can you tell me what AI you used to generate this itinerary? I have been using AIs for some time now and am impressed with the quality of the results. However the current fail rate is something of a dirty little secret, swept under the carpet of reality, with gratuitous statements when challenged like.. "You are correct, I am an AI model and I am still learning." No AI; actually you are wrong.
Well when you are wrong and do learn...
Wine IS breakfast! Can't see why that got a thumbs down...
Hamburg heavy in beautiful brickwork! Looks like everyone has a blank couple of minutes around 18 mins in. Still enjoyed it though!
In suspense now wanting to know what was in the missing 4 minutes!
Hamburg is the largest German city without trams, kills the ambience
Even though the Museum is closed, the grounds still looked nice on a gloomy day. I just went to my home zoo on my own a few weeks ago. Video coming next Sunday. Maybe a tad harsh there
Very interesting video a shame that it was just a black screen for several minutes.
That Ibis room looks like a room on a hospital ward.
We are staying at Ibis Budget in Mainz September time.
Is the brand any good?
Oh and the German Hamburg links to fellow Scottish Football team Dunfermline Athletic ‘The Pars’ 🤷♂️😳
I too would prefer to visit the millerntor rather than an art museum!
I like your room at Ibis budget hotel in Hamburg. Neat room. Enough space for one or two people.
I watched patiently through the black hole starting 17:07. It's about three minutes and a half. 🖤
That is similar to ibis budget birmingham airport right across the road to the airport
Did A.I. edit your video Scott as there is a blank screen between 17:13 & 21:03 😂
They have a drinks room coffee teas for free in the ibis budget birmingham airport
No surprised you couldn't find that first restaurant. Soul less looking building on Street View with a small sign in the window
theres a black out between 17 to 20 mins
👍
