I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I took the 4 CHEAPEST FLIGHTS in a row and ended up in...

- For three days I travelled on the cheapest low cost fares, and could not believe were I ended up. I have seen similar low cost challenges on TH-cam and wondered if I would end up somewhere exotic, or whether these videos had some 'artistic licence' included, to make it more enjoyable. I decided to find the truth.
[ After uploading this video I had a think about this low cost experiment. Because Ireland and Great Britain are islands, the quickest and easiest way to Continental Europe is to fly. There are so many flights to/from the UK and Dublin, and so it's only a matter of time before you end up back where you started. Part of the secret may be to know when to end the challenge before you end up in Cardiff or somewhere.]

The train from Edinburgh to Glasgow was probably more expensive than the four flights combined.

Scott's wife: Where ya goin'?
Scott: Out
Scott's wife: Where to?
Scott: Romania
What was the joke, I must have missed it!
I think the better question is WIFE ASK WERE YOU GOING?
answer I don't know
Wife. Where are you now
Answer Bucharest
WIFE answer I always knew you would end up going nowhere
😀
‘Chosen that location to die’ hahahahaha. What a quote!
Made me laugh so hard, so true!
That and "People will call you Scotty No-Friends." 😂
😂
Out of all of the TH-cam channel travel videos that I watch, you are the most organised, naturally witty, and able to link and give reasons for all of your travels. One of a kind. Keep it up, Scott!
Glasgow to Edinburgh via Bucharest, Tirana and Stanstead is wild. probably the first and only person whose ever done this.
probably still cheaper than a Citylink day ticket
Reminds me of a story some years ago: A couple travelled from their home town of Bournemouth to London, to catch a coach for a mystery destination holiday. As the coach was pulling away to head for the mystery destination, the driver proudly announced that the mystery destination was... Bournemouth.
Parents took a mystery train ride once, ended up in Torquay... nice as the place was back then, they'd just returned a week earlier from The Egnlish Riviera. Safe to say no hanging gardens or wildebeest majestically moving across the plains on either trip.
I'd say the clue is in the price!!!!
My parents, on holiday on the South Coast, went on a mystery coach trip. It took them to their home town. They had a cup of tea at home and went back to their holiday...
Was it fates way of telling them to stay at home?

Love Jasper the cat.
Yes, he is cute. But my cat is the cutest most adorable cat in the world. 😸
He speaks perfect English and sounds a lot like Scott, but pitch-shifted. What a smart boy he is.
Jasper was the original name of Tom, from Tom and Jerry.
@@mikestephens5622 And for some odd reason Jerry was called Jinx
Did this challenge 20 years ago in the summer of 2004. My starting point was Newcastle, flight 1 to Copenhagen, flight 2 to Berlin, flight 3 to Nice and flight 4 took me to Paris. Including the flight home from Paris to Newcastle the total cost came in at less than £100 averaging £15-£19 per flight. I do definitely recommend you go back to Albania, what a beautiful country yet not really touristy yet (well it wasn't when I was there in 2017). Another great video, keep them coming.
Love the authenticity of this challenge, fantastic, you are the master of these BECAUSE it's all so real, well done mate!
You have to do a same or similar challenge Steve
Yes Steve, Just do it! It's great fun, although the hours of sitting around at airports numbs your brain.
@@PlanesTrainsEverythingyou’ll be doing surveys ;)
Yes, Steve! Do it!
Never thought Albania would be so beautiful, thanks Scott.
And last time I saw an AN-2 up close was in Angola in the 80s, it was a military version, it was the middle of a civil war. Even then I thought it was ancient but it’s a blooming flying legend.
They're still around but less and less of them, which is a shame. I still hope I might get to pilot one at some point but my chances are getting thinner. They are fascinating machines, with a (soviet copy of) Dakota engine and just massive amounts of lift. Fun fact - in case of an engine failure it was an acceptable emergency procedure to just pull up and let the airplane gently fall into the ground... apparently with the way it's wings and whatnot it would more or less act as its own parachute and land firmly but safely.
Always a treat to see a new upload, Scott. Doubly so when I get in early!
Luton is a tourist gem that they try to keep under wraps, because they don't want it being ruined by becoming too popular.
Seems to be a well known for Pakistani people that’s for sure
It's not a bad city tbh, nice commute to London, cheap flights out of Luton
The hospital, near Luton, has a lot of expertise dealing with puncture wounds in humans....
Brilliant! At least you didn't get stung with an expensive flight back from somewhere further afield. :)
The biplane at Tirana was an An2 Colt (NATO reporting name). They are still in use, over 18000 built
For Tirana airport, you just need to check in online and then go to the check in desk when it opens and they'll give you a paper ticket.
Just get the hotel to print it much easier
Surely for Ryanair they'll charge you for this? And if you don't have check in luggage then prinitng it out elsewhere will save the effort
@@LukeSimmondsTravel In Taiwan you can just go to the local 7-Eleven and get anything printed out.
Oh, interesting. OI was amazed at the palm trees in Albania. Much more modern than I expected too. Had a fun trip with you. Thanks!
If a printout is required, Ryanair must also provide it free of charge. This is exactly the case when it says in the online check-in process that you have to contact the airport staff directly, for example because of your nationality and entry requirements.
Even if there is no service counter for Ryanair, there is at least one check-in counter where luggage is dropped off.
That was awesome Scott, one of the best videos you've done. A classic, and you gave us one of your classic lines too: "Just like in Italy, that means you have chosen that location to die" 😅
Look on the bright side Scott as you saved money as you ended in Edinburgh and you didn't have to pay for a flight back from your final destination.
Well.an entertaining tour you done its having patience to hang around airport terminals for hours 😮 we'll thank you for sharing 😊
Really enjoyed this one thanks very much 👍
I got bored in December and booked myself a random 2 day holiday to Tirana. One of the best inpromptu journeys I've ever had.
Amazing city.
Amazing stuff, Scott! The views of Albania look like it would be well worth another look from ground level. Thanks for taking us along with you, as ever!
I flew to Bucharesti Otopeni quite regularly in the 90s. I've also taken a train from Bucharesti Nord to Cluj and back.
I just found this by accident and am watching from Castlemaine In Australia. I wish that we had fares as cheap as this 😂. This is fascinating to watch (especially from someone who is so far away from Europe that it takes a day to get there). I sometimes wish that Australia was a bit closer but then we wouldn’t have our beautiful weather. It would be so lovely
though to be able to pop over to Paris for a weekend (I’ve been to Adelaide for a night spontaneously with some friends, cost a small fortune). Not quite the same as Paris but still lovely. New sub here 👍
Hearing you I live 160km west of Port Augusta in SA. Whyalla to Adelaide (after we have driven 11/2 hours is around the $400 mark for a 35 minute flight.
Scott is coming to Australia in a few months
@@ianfox6106I hope he uses the $10 Vline fares.
@@debshipard1664 I wish we had $10 fares here in South Australia
I went from London to Porto, Portugal for £9 (pound sterling) last year 🤣
Great update , loved it Scott 👍
Thanks Scott for your videos. I really enjoy them. Enjoy your travels and take care. Steve
Epic! You must of been exhausted and tired after all that, and thanks for spending 7 hours at Stansted just for us. Albania looks lovely, and top notch for quality entertainment, Scott.
For someone who cannot sleep while travelling (I'm the same) I admire your physical and mental endurance doing these trips
Thanks Scott! A great video, and a good theme for a video... 👍
Thanks Martin. I appreciate your support. I was asked how hard would it be sitting on my backside for hours, but that kind of stunt is stressful (but also loads of fun). There's always the threat of a flight being canceled at short notice leaving you high and dry somewhere. Thanks again.
Always makes my day to see you upload. Safe travels!
Downloading the boarding pass as a PDF and then using that longer barcode off the phone screen has worked for us in the past when my other half lost her physical boarding pass at Oslo airport
Good tip. Thanks.
that is a good tip, my partner does this all the time as his phone is an old android platform that can't use the Ryanair app. we are frequent flyers to and from Dublin.
@@chrissymcmillan5364 it is of course also dependent on you having access to your phone's storage and a PDF reader
This was my thought. I scrolled the comments to see if someone else had the same idea!
@@JayROwen I'm one of those infuriatingly overcautious folk, I have the boarding card in quadruplicate... The app, the PDF, the paper copy and one in the Google Wallet too.
I was in Albania last September, interesting place and a great alternative if you want cheap late summer sun. Lots of Italians holiday in Albanian, so if you don't like the local food, you will find plenty of Italian dishes.
I’ve driven through a couple of times on road trips, it’s actually a really beautiful place with lots to do and see. I tell this to my friends and they think I’m joking. I also may or may not have been caught having a little too much fun in a rear wheel drive, and may or may not have paid £50 to get out of the situation.
Thanks for sharing. Great edititing. Cheers from Norway
Hi Scott🙋. I had an 5:50 gate close at Bucharest Airport. To see Bucharest North station in the dark, waked up my memories. Many thanks for doing another exhausting trip. I you one time end up in Cologne I would be delighted to invent you at least for a coffee. Greetings from Germany Marco
That Ryanair bording pass situation is unacceptable. If they offer a flight from the airport they need to be able to process their own passes.
Actually that's the airport resonsibility. Ryanair can't force them. And I am sure that Albanians who want to go home are pretty grateful for those flights.
@@seekingtravel Would it kill Ryanair to waive the fee for printing boarding passes at these airports? Nobody has a printer these days.
Amazing that they charge that much! That’s awful.
@@seekingtravel Yes, they are fine getting home as their flights to Tirana leave from airports where you can just scan your code. And when they leave they can print their documents at home too. It's the tourists who are stung in such situations.
How you find the cheapest available destination
Brilliant as always Scott. Thanks for taking us along with you :)
Very cool video! Thoroughly enjoy your challenges. 😊
That cat is simply adorable
Wow great idea..enjoyed the trip
Brilliant thanks Scott
Great idea for a trip! Very enjoyable and information.
Brilliant video, really enjoyed it thank you x.
Bad thing was it reminded me I have to fly from Stansted in April!! Bummer!
Top tip: Portable bluetooth A4 printer, £100. Its about the size of a 1ft ruler and as thick as a couple of matchboxes. 👍
At Stansted? Take a bus ride to Bishops Stortford and grab a bite to eat. Check out the town.
Simply wow. What a special storytelling. Adventure at the peak.
Great post thank you
So, what site you used to book those flights? That biplane is Antonov AN-2, probably.
just stumbled upon this gem of a channel. bloody brilliant mate. good tunes also
Terrific video Scott! Really inspired me to check out some really cheap flights this year and do some spontaneous travelling.
I always carry hard copies of tickets and hotel reservations.
Occasionally, i encounter connection issues with my mobile. Happy to have a paper copy in those moments.
He was booking flight on the fly so not possible
It’s well worth getting an e-sim nowadays, with European coverage. Phone just keeps working as normal whereas whenever my uk providers say EU is included it never works as it should do! You can get them with revolut now too which are very reasonably priced.
That worked out rather well. A nice trip away and then a flight home 😃 Albania looks superb as well 🌴
Superb watch, really enjoyed
Love this challenge! One of my top faves you’ve done. Well done 👏🏼 (ps - hello Jasper 🐈!)

Great video Charles. I love your ability to hoof it while at the same time being both articulate and light hearted. It's great to hear that news even from your car. The scene setter video showing the setup there is also interesting. Great stuff mate.

Tirana is a city that I’ve visited twice and love! I’ll be heading back fairly soon. Snow capped mountains, a huge park in centre of the city, excellent hotels at very cheap prices and great food. Friendly people and I’ve always felt perfectly safe there, as good as anywhere in the UK.
I am curious as to why Scot didn't visit the centre! There was enough time.
@@Benjamin.Jamin.Well you 🚶♂️ go then explore for yourself

Great idea for a video Scott, the no return to country of origin refinement should make for more interesting destinations. Tirana was the star for me.
Another enjoyable video Scott 👍
Good and honest content as always! Thank you!
Tirana is an absolute fave destination for us. Friendly and cheap. The standard taxi fare for city centre is €20, so well done for sticking to the airport!
Hi Scott ( and fellow Buddie)
Can I ask what tool you use to find the cheapest flight. Normally you put in destination in all the tools I use
Nice video, keep them coming coming
I am 7 minutes into the video. I have a feeling this four cheap flights journey will be very tiring. But good luck!!
I would have flown to Kopenhagen from Bucharest and stayed for at least 24 hours in Kopenhagen to sleep and recharge.
Wow, Edinburgh Scott - who'd have thought it ! Interesting way of doing things - sooo close to ending up in Bordeaux though. Looking forward to your next one.

Another great adventure Scott. The spontaneity of it makes it more fun. I'm amazed how low some of those fares were. I'm going to Tirana, Albania soon for first time - looking forward to it.
Awesome video as always. Loved that you ended up in Bucharest. Somehow a lot of these challenges do :D
You should have taken the cablecar ride to top of mountain at Tirana. Its the only good thing about that city
