I'm very thankful that emulators exist, and I'm finally able to get a proper look at such a formative piece of media from my childhood.

I will never get this trope in stories: total ecological collapse, all animals dead, not enough resources to go around, air and water are polluted, food is spars and yet despite all that... they have over pullulation? Seriously how are they able to sustain a rapid population growth when their suppose to be a resource shortage? They established they don’t got enough of shit to go around so pops should be deceasing out of starvation and such not experiencing rapid growth out of nowhere.
I can understand where you coming from. However the overpopulation happens before the great destruction so nothing was dead at this point. The governments of earth however wanted to move people underground to start new lives there and produce underground farms, however while this was being built the powers of the world started wars which leads to use of super weapons like justice which solved the population issue nicely by killing most people off.
Long time fan of AC. I was too young to grasp the concepts back then, I just wanted to play as a big mech, and the story bits were just in the way of the game lol. Thanks for the summary as i delve into ac6.
I get that as a teen i never cared for the story of ac2, it was just in my way after i had to reply the same mission over and over again. Now here i am so deep in the ac lore hole i can't stop digging ha ha and i hope you enjoy ac6. Its certainly has a great story and hidden lore to enjoy.
Do you ever plan on making any content for AC5/Verdict Day? I'd love to have someone help those stories make more sense because armored cores story telling in game has always been lacking.
Yes. I started with ac4 and then came back to ac1 from here i plan to go ac2, ac3 and then ac5. The reason for this is i am slowly getting pages of the AC5 and ACVD books translated so i can have as much information as i can to present the story and its characters. @@armoredcorelore Armored Core definitely seems like a game I would have enjoyed but I sadly never heard of it until I saw the trailer for the newest one. Your video definitely helped solidify my interest in the series.
I appreciate this lore playlist. I tend to just play the game because it was fun, but never understand deep of the story running behind it usually, like most other FromSoft games.
dam i use to play this game when i was little on the ps2 it was ground breaking at the time nothing like it, i had forgot it existed till a6 never even knew i was playing a game from a legendary future studio
This is where I’m gonna start series going to know what is the series of before playing armored core 6 fires of Rubicon So basically this is a recap of the first game
This video yes, its the basic plot of the first game of ac on the ps1. Its just the basic and if you want to go in more detail about characters and subjects such as nine-ball, human plus maybe a well known female raven then i have videos on them too.
I'm writing up submission notes for armored core 100% and I wanted to try to come with a concise description of the story but it's pretty hard to do :p
@armoredcorelore Even though the controls are clunky, the Game was very fun. And the routes you could kinda take felt like I was playing a predecessor to the rogue like genre :D
If you told me about the lore of this game 10 years ago,I would tag it as sci-fi. Nowadays.. Kinda funny the AI, at least to some level, wanted to do some level of good. I mean, come on, I wouldn't trust humanity to NOT self destruct for 10 minutes either.
As you say its scary how close we could be to this sort of idea happening. Ai is doing a lot of work now in our world and one day who knows we may come to trust it to lead us.
@@primarchlogarius The short answer from what I know is no, we're already had a story where a new resource has advanced technology miles ahead. AC4 Kojima Particles which slowly killed the planet. And great destructions are how most of the lore in any ac begins expect ac4. I think this is a newish idea and fromsoftware is looking to expand past ac2 setting of being on mars.
@@ensignd.crexote5350 Ha ha like it and Oh well i have done a for answer video on its story and old king himself it can be found here: th-cam.com/video/TJTDu6S78As/w-d-xo.html
I would agree. Sadly ac never really shows its history that well in (Some of the games) as such anything before the use of armored core in ac1 is not shown leaving me with a lot of mission footages only that don't really give the window view into the great destruction or the back room politics going on.
You'll be fine just surrender to your local corporation and do as your told. Ha ha true is one is pretty close to home but luckily no ai master minds just yet.
The most baffling part of the original game was the end. How does the AI find this mercenary a threat!? You, the player, do nothing besides accepting mercenary contracts. The merc may be good at his job, but has never done anything independently. Are we to believe that a rational AI, calculating that a Raven has become nearly unstoppable, will lure them into its HQ, all in order to kill that Raven? I don't think so. I think the more rational explanation is that the AI network had some sort of internal conflict, and part of it decided to try to use this powerful Raven to destroy the network - or at least whatever part of this AI network that was contained in the hex-shaped computer-things at the end. I mean, if that computer was trying to NOT die, all it would have to do is lock a single door anywhere between the Raven and the central core thing. Hell, you don't even get to the second part of the mission until you've cleared out all opposition and the DOOR IS UNLOCKED FOR YOU! So, Hustler One AI = suicide. Another thing I don't get is how much reach this AI really had? You have the major corporations that would be very difficult to control from behind the scenes. You have Chemical Dyne Co making bioweapons that attack the nearby population indiscriminately. You have Murakumo taking control of the same orbital weapon that caused the Great Destruction in the first place. Chrome is developing their CHAOS MTs that rival a Raven in combat ability, threatening to make them obsolete, and presenting a clear, uncontrolled threat to Hustler One AI. I think it's clear the corporations had grown far beyond the control of this AI. Speculative point. The AI had some limitation on where it could deploy its assets. Signal transmission is an obvious limitation. Why didn't H1 go to outer space? Transmission is spotty, and wouldn't it beat all if Hustler One fell in battle by simply shutting down? There might have also been limitations even on Earth's surface. If the player was such a threat, why did H1 AI send Stru... wrong game, Boss Savage after you? Or maybe Boss Savage acted on his own. Not Sure. The dialogue kind of supports the whole 'too strong gotta take you down' theme. Question: how did the Ravens Nest really survive in the corporate world? Their Ravens had to use parts made by either Chrome or Murakumo. The only people (IIRC) that gave missions were Chrome, Murakumo, Boss Savage, and the Ravens Nest itself. I'd expect that once a Raven takes a mission against one of the corporations, that's it - blacklisted and a bounty put on your head. I mean, by being the primary clients of the Nest, the Corporations were the ones funding the rise of the Nest. I don't understand how having a mercenary company really furthers the goals of the Hustler One AI either. Question 2: I was going to speculate that the corporations had the resources to rebuild the surface, but purposely weren't. I removed that paragraph because I remembered how much of the game was played under open skies. So, what were the rules? The lore states everybody was forced underground, but you've got massive military bases and complexes, and functioning train lines on the surface. You've got the infrastructure in place to transport battalions of huge mechs (each weighting tens of tons) from Earth's surface into space. How many people were already living back on the surface? Speculative point 2: Some AC parts were actually pre-Great Destruction technology that the corporations could never reverse engineer. The corporations made some parts, but pretended to make others, while in reality all the parts were found scattered throughout the world. That's why ACs are so much more durable than much larger MTs and other craft, and why AC weapons packed a much bigger punch. This is also why true ACs were so superior to the General Purpose ACs that Murakumo deployed, and why there as such a distinction in usefulness of weapons. Rare weapons like the Karasawa were military weapons, while handguns and rifles were civilian weapons, which were simple enough the corporations could reverse engineer them. Another example is the Giant MT - despite its size, its performance is very low compared what and AC can do; too slow, and its weapons don't pack the punch you'd expect from something that big. I think the only real hole in this theory is CHAOS from Chrome. Those MTs hit hard, were annoying, but importantly, I remember them being able to take a beating and keep on going.
Ah these are some very good points and maybe why we have master of arena having to take down an AI too, maybe as you suggest the ai was having errors after all the ai in master of arena is very aggressive compared to the ai found in AC1. It was more sit back and watch type however maybe it was faulty resulting in this final battle being as you said a mayor error in its thinking which is why i had to go. As for its reach we know it had the nerve system which connected to all underground cities and that the many hustler one's would suggest it had its own way to construct or repair them. We never do get the location of the HQ of raven nest and it very possible in that area the ai has mts who work factories for it, build and repair acs for them along with conduct trade with the corporations. It possible the ai survived in this world is because it played the game. it made a business; it helped chrome and Murakumo become what they are as such either Chrome and Murakumo knew about the ai but stayed quiet fearing a backlash or played along until they felt they had the power to stop it. Ah see now that is an interesting question because i don't think corporations blacklisted ravens unless they really had too, most where already seen as unsavoury types and some already criminals. Since neither corporation was there yet with MTS to combat them, ravens had use to save on forces plus they made great scape goats for attacking certain groups with the idea that even terrorists could hire ravens so no one could prove who sent a raven. See now the building on the surface is a bit of a grey area, as yes in lore the survivors of the great war where forced underground, however it took them years to rebuild humanity and people became very loyal or maybe better to say reliant on the corporations they proved everything they needed. I could say it was only mts up there but that would be a lie as we have boulder up there with its driver. Was he protected by a suit or was this simple a case of the corporations telling people it's not safe up there, your better down here let us handle the surface. The earth surface may have been safe for quite a while however if people started to leave then the corporations would have to spend more resources to try and control them as such was this may have been simple a way to maintain power. Maybe what we have is a dare i say it a situation where either the corporations are using people with threats to operate on the surface or it all a grand show to maintain power.
A good question, we believe it stands for Earth Calendar (Why the D instead of a C? i do not know) But the idea is a bit twisted as it was changed due to the controller having it own calendar system in ac3 and in ac1 it was a different reason i feel the armored core 10 complete works book explains it better then i. AC 1st timeline (AC1 TILL AC2AA) The Earth has changed its standard year for human history to the "Earth Calendar (E.D.)," but the nature of humanity itself does not easily change even if the year changes. AC 2nd time line (For AC3 Till last raven) ED Before Construction of the underground laminated city of Layard begins. Layers are completed. Outbreak of "The Great Destruction." The few survivors are relocated to the Railyard. Layered governance by management. Thereafter, a layered calendar is initiated. The Layard calendar is a calendar established by the administrators as a standard of living for people living in Layard. The year in the Layard calendar is not based on the earth's orbital period, and the day is not 24 hours long. Furthermore, the length of the year and the length of the day in the Layard calendar have changed many times, making it impossible to measure the exact period of time. This was a measure taken by the administrators to deprive the people of the rhythm of life above ground and to acclimate them to underground life. E.D.0000 The administrator confirms that some terrestrial environments have been restored to human habitable levels. The administrators fixed the Layard calendar to the length of one year and one day on earth for the people's coming return to earth. In addition, they changed the year thereafter to Earth Calendar (E.D.) and defined this year as E.D. 0000.

@@armoredcorelore the armored core six is the first game I played in the series so I can’t tell how it’s the writing for the rest , but it looks to me that previous games had Gundam/Game of Thrones vibes of a lot of backstabbing and politics while six has a bit of supernatural/evangelion especially when it comes to the coral when we discovered that it’s actually the collective consciousness of the Rubicon and the whole fire of ember thing heavily reminds me of dark souls three
@@thelast4646 Neat i appreciate the share of ideas.
My mans channel bout to blow up from all the armored core 6 fans.
Ha ha i would welcome them with open arms.
What happened to the Raven in the first armored core game? Did he/she survived the explosion after killing the AI?
Currently that is very much up for debate. As it is possible the raven escaped however there is no concrete evidence of his fate.
@@armoredcorelore I see, thank you for the answer mate, i really appreciated it :) ❤
Do you ever plan on making any content for AC5/Verdict Day? I'd love to have someone help those stories make more sense because armored cores story telling in game has always been lacking.
Yes. I started with ac4 and then came back to ac1 from here i plan to go ac2, ac3 and then ac5. The reason for this is i am slowly getting pages of the AC5 and ACVD books translated so i can have as much information as i can to present the story and its characters. If you would like a quick look at the story line, there is a translation over on reddit i had done. www.reddit.com/r/armoredcore/comments/ua2nmd/armored_core_v_page_translations/ and here www.reddit.com/r/armoredcore/comments/ua2nmd/armored_core_v_page_translations/
I feel like something like this is gonna happen in our real life future 😞.
Thanks! I just tried playing this in browser to prep for 6, but I lost my save when I closed my browser. The controls are just too archaic for me to force my way through while also learning all the good armors. Atleast I got myself those spider legs-- I'm rushing to those every armored core game I play from here on out.
I am a fan of the quad legs myself so you get my thumbs up for using them.
Since the new one is coming and definitely intrigued me I guess I gotta catch up
Well i hope my videos can help with your intrigue and be a bit of fun too.

Honestly it was the same for me until i one day dived down the ac lore rabbit hole. There is a lot to discover about the game and the books.
Armored Core is back, let's goooo!!!!

Yes 🤤 more lore from thr armored core universe...sounds wicked. AC6 is a masterpiece
It is fun and now I am finished with the game with all endings its lore time!
Playing through 1 right now and not really knowing what's going on. Anyways, cheers.

dam i use to play this game when i was little on the ps2 it was ground breaking at the time nothing like it, i had forgot it existed till a6 never even knew i was playing a game from a legendary future studio
How time flies, hopefully see you in ac6.

Armored core 3 on ps2 was my favorite.
Well we're getting there.
This sounds as if Zero from Metal Gear Solid 3 is giving us this briefing
Well I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Ha ha.
When Rubicon launches tons of people will flock here.
We'll see.
One the most strange and funny things is the fact Metal Wolf Chaos maybe is a prequel of Armored Core 1.......maybe....
Crossing them timelines.
" we don't have enough resources to feed and house the population but we have enough for giant mech wars"
I mean clearly, who would not want giant lasers and mechs?
I'm writing up submission notes for armored core 100% and I wanted to try to come with a concise description of the story but it's pretty hard to do :p
Ah well i hope my little video helps even a little.

@@lucaex2302 oh its quite tough. I hope you enjoyed the game =)
@armoredcorelore Even though the controls are clunky, the Game was very fun. And the routes you could kinda take felt like I was playing a predecessor to the rogue like genre :D

With the new game coming out.. gotta know what's up!

As an ace combat fan it’s gonna be hard getting used to seeing AC and thinking armored core
It is quite the issue with so many games that can be shorted to AC, but I think we can do it =)
I finished AC1 on an emulator. Incredible work how you managed to get all this lore. From Software know how to hide it well.
Thank you for your kind words and they did mind you hiding some in Japanese only books is a bit of bummer.
How close are we to giant robots?
All of these events are already happening lol
I mean we have giant gundam somewhere right.
when are you gonna do 5 and verdict day?
When i have most of the acv books translated as there is so much in there.
Ai is doing a lot of work now in our world and one day who knows we may come to trust it to lead us.
man...the universe is pretty interesting
and its only going to grow more.
we already have rivalring robotic companys, boston elctronics and method2 to only name two
Well when they take over the governments of the world with giant mechs i may start to worry a little.
Came here to gain knowledge for 2023 prep
I shall do my best to give you the knowledge you seek. And of course questions are welcome too.
Me too!!
@@armoredcorelore is there any reference about Rubicon? Or is that potentially what the new story is about?
@@primarchlogarius The short answer from what I know is no, we're already had a story where a new resource has advanced technology miles ahead. AC4 Kojima Particles which slowly killed the planet.
And great destructions are how most of the lore in any ac begins expect ac4. I think this is a newish idea and fromsoftware is looking to expand past ac2 setting of being on mars.

I think relevant footage from the AC games would've been a lot more interesting to watch than some stock photos.
I would agree. Sadly ac never really shows its history that well in (Some of the games) as such anything before the use of armored core in ac1 is not shown leaving me with a lot of mission footages only that don't really give the window view into the great destruction or the back room politics going on.
This just… sounds like real life. I don’t think I wanna live on earth anymore. I’d rather not be crushed like a bug by big honkin robots…
You'll be fine just surrender to your local corporation and do as your told. Ha ha true is one is pretty close to home but luckily no ai master minds just yet.
Are they still pushing that ozone hole BS? Lol!
Ozone lane nah such a old story. Now giant death space laser that what's killing off earth this week.
I just got here but i going to watch every episode until 6 gets here :)
Funny enough the same with me. Its only about a few years ago i fell into the ac lore hole and now I'm so deep i can't get out ha ha!

Hey man, what does ED stands for?Like the year ED070,what ED means?
Awesome work you make in the lore of the game.
AC 1st timeline (AC1 TILL AC2AA)
The Earth has changed its standard year for human history to the "Earth Calendar (E.D.)," but the nature of humanity itself does not easily change even if the year changes.
AC 2nd time line (For AC3 Till last raven)
ED Before
Construction of the underground laminated city of Layard begins.
E.D.0000
The administrator confirms that some terrestrial environments have been restored to human habitable levels.

As from my side i can say politics has always been a thing in ac only its more the politics of an ai overlord or a corporation rather then a government expect ac2aa.
We also touch on other ideas from ac games like coral being very much kojima particles that advanced tech years and both destroying a planet only in two different ways.
The back stabbing of pilots and corporations to the player is always in ac games along with this idea that a raven is free to choice their own path being a mercenary.
