I played both of these games when they came out. I still have a Xbox 360 and Verdict day. I remember that last fight with J at the end. I was watching him fly in getting ready for the big last battle. I see him land and then the explosion. The first thing that came to mind was "That's a next!". I then knew I was in for a hard battle. a normal vs a next. I remembered how that went in AC4 and For Answer. It was a hard battle, even more so to get S rank.
I have seen that. But most of the games are. I own most of the games. All of the PS1, PS2(some aren't in great shape) and AC4/ACFA and AC5/ACVD on Xbox 360 or PS3.@@GusMortis

"ACV is the only game where it story crosses gen with For Answer" My dude, you show us Armored Core 2, a 2nd Gen AC game that clearly is a continuation of Gen 1 by making references back to Gen 1.

This was due to Bandai Namco refusing to support the game overseas. Only Japan received the balance patches. NA only received a small patch, a mid-life patch, and the end-of-service patch, which had identical balance to final JP.
Funny enough: What got me into armored core is a video of ac5 multiplayer by Oroboro called greatest comeback ever. It looked so cool, I had to try the games. lol
Unfortunately as a kid my introduction to the AC series was Silent Line that ive been told was the hardest entry in the series by far so after I played that for a couple of hours I dropped it but luckily my friends convinced me to get AC6 at launch and it’s easily one of my favorite games ever
If ever revisit the older games and I do have to say that the old gen games get a unique feel if you adapt to theyre clunky controls that makes you feel like you’re really in the cockpit
Silent Line, other than the controls, isn't terrible, (and I started with AC3 which had the same controls and is less developed.) I've played nearly all of the games and by far I'd say that Last Raven is the most brutal. It's amazing, and is the first game in the series where you can permafly, (with the right build,) but FS had zero compunctions whatsoever about letting the AI cheat while not giving the player any similar options. ACSL (like ACVD) at least lets you train AI companions who can cheat right along with you.
@@MalcadorGaming yeah AC6 does feel a lot like 4th gen. And 4th gen is probably the most approachable, (outside of Nexus,) for having both good controls and that Dark Souls flavor with complex combat that becomes quickly intuitive once you "git gud." 5th gen is more a mech simulator, and the customization plays an arguably bigger role than skill, (especially with the AI companions that you can customize in ACVD; which to this day I think is unparalleled in potential.)
It has been announced that on March 23rd of 2024, Armored Core Verdict day will shut down its servers. The Verdict War that has lasted a decade will finally end, and we will see the answer that the countless ravens, who have lived as they pleased and died senseless deaths, have chosen.
I have a confession to make: I hear Mechanized Memories in my head whenever I get into a boss fight against a robotic enemy over twice my characters size. People can have whatever opinions they want about Gen 5, but I refuse to believe the J fight wasn't the perfect sendoff for AC until 6 revived AC from the grave.
Alright so...Sorry to be critical but: This is isn't the only example of a cross generation continuation of the franchise...indeed gen 1-2 are the same universe, and gen 3 is usually split into two series (3 and 3.5 due to massive changes in its overall design.) Indeed, the main antagonist of AC2 is all but confirmed to be the Protagonist of Master of Arena.
I honestly like the David v Goliath style Final Boss of Verdict Day Here you are, a Merc with basically souped up Normals pretending to be an AC, taking down what basically is the amalgamation of everything the NEXT era has to offer... Albeit rudimentarily Its a badass fight. It shows that... There is still hope for a future. Even if it took a junk with an Ace to acheive it. Glad you enjoy VD. Its clearly an underdog. P.S: Off topic, but apparently the newest Raid Boss in Blue Archive is basically an Armored Core xD *Someone at NAT Games clearly is a Raven*
Personally, I loved ACV and VD. While you are not a NEXT, I have no problem with it. They are different from the previous gens and that how Armored Core became for the most part. Hence why the first 3 gens are now closely collectively called OldGen, Next is 4th Gen, then 5th Gen, and finally 6th gen. And yew, I do admit it is hard getting used to the mechanics. Ngl, still takes a while to change between scan and combat modes and the damn computer telling me every single time. As for the story, that I do agree that it really needed an email. Heck from what I heard, we had to use 5th gen art books as source materials. Though funny enough in the AC discord, some in 5th gen are split as they prefer ACV story over VD. Mostly due to taste, I take it. Honestly, due to how ACs in 5th gen are basicslly supped up Normals from 4th gen, it makes sense why they are weaker in general. And why in the multiplayer is more focus in teamwork.
I think I came off wrong when I said I didn't like it, just visually I'm not a fan but thematically I love it. Scan mode is just weird imo and I'm still not a big fan
Even tho gen 5 is in the future, humanity hit a technological dark age and lost alot of tech from FA era, thats why they still use that kind of armament.
It's comical, but the age of those designs are likely why they're still in use. They still have the ability to make and maintain them, so they stay in use. Like .50 HMG's IRL or the B-52 Stratofortress. Heck, people still use knives and those predate written language!
I honestly think AC V's setting and AC scale was perfect also appreciated the effort they put in making the parts and gun's practical aesthetic, and the UNACS! But everything else was kinda shit; the weird story, voice acting, the UI mess... the extremely strict rock paper scissor damage style, and worse of all the ai wont shut up.
I honestly don't fully get the notion that V had an RPS system since defense values could change so much to varying degrees. If V had an RPS system, by extension so did all other AC games.
As for me, the main thing that killed AC5 for me is that the PS3 version has a bug where the music doesn't play if the game is already installed when you start the game, so you have to delete the install data and reinstall the game every time you want to play the game if you want to hear the music and it was never resolved in a patch. Verdict day doesn't have this bug on PS3.
I have the ps3 Version and never had such a bug. Love this game. Only thing that sucks, is that i have never beat the last boss. And its the same for ACVD 🤨 btw,im a fan since AC on ps1 😃
hey so quick note to anyone here whos wanting a quick skim, ac5 is primarily a multiplayer game, and while verdict day still has online, its has several features geared for single player. so now that the servers are down, verdict day is almost just objectively better than 5 i still enjoyed 5 a lot, even if the story missions are very much made for coop and a bit bs playing solo (and the final ultimate weapon is a pain and a half to acquire). really the worst part of 5 is that about half the content is multiplayer locked
Verdict Day's online features are being shut down in 100 days, and V has plenty of Singleplayer content within the game. The story missions were not intended to be played in exclusively co-op, you can make more of an argument about VD's missions being tuned for that moreso than V's.
V was my first AC game, and then I got Verdict Day. When 6 came out, and I saw all the whining about the game being too hard, the game not having i-frames when dodging, and people not even being able to beat the first boss, I just laughed. As a veteran from the war against the Zodiacs, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The first two bosses in 6, weren't even that bad. They probably wouldn't ever be able to conquer the Smart Cleaner.
It’s not forgotten. It’s just been completed and everyone is satisfied. That’s what a good game does. I don’t need subway surfers at the bottom 24/7 to be happy
Gen 5 was amazing People just approached it expecting AC4A 2 and walked away making up a bunch of crazy myths about it when it turned out to be its own thing. When people say gen 5 sucks because it's 'too slow and grounded', I say BUILD A LIGHT AND AERIAL AC THEN This isn't AC4A where every build from a light stickbug RJ through to a bulky tank all spend 90% of the mission in the air. Builds actually affect gameplay in gen 5 and if you want to go fast then you just build for going fast.
My issue wasn't that ACV and VD weren't like AC4A, when FROM said they were going back to their roots, I was expecting things to go back to a more 3rd Gen style of gameplay, and V and VD did neither.
To me ACV and VD were the best games I ve ever played, the reason is the multiplayer though. The single player on both was solid, but it simply doesnt force the player to even use, if I m generous, 4% of the gameplay depth those games offer.
my first AC game was Last Raven. I had wanted an AC or mech warrior game when I was a kid, but somehow got Robotech for Gamecube instead one christmas... So it wouldnt be until years later that I finally got to try an AC game and that was Last Raven. while I got like 3 or 4 of the endings, there were some that just seemed brutally impossible and I clearly wasnt aware of how hard the fromsoft games were. I eventually just left it and kind of ignored AC for awhile, discounting it as a franchise with really cool customization but nigh unfun levels of difficulty lol. Instead Id play other mech games such as S.L.A.I., Dynasty Warriors Gundam (1 and 2), Hawken, and Front Mission evolved- which I really liked and that game gave me AC vibes without the hair pulling difficulty of an AC game- except it was really short. Fast forward to Elden Ring, and i really loved the hell out of that game. So much that when AC6 was revealed, I was ready to give AC another chance- and Im really glad I did, because AC6 was phenomenal.
5 deterred me from Vday and I didn't play it till way later and never got to finish it so I loved this round up. Awesome video. AC for answer was my favorite. 4 was epic and 6 has been amazing. I have played these since gen 3 and love these games thru and thru
my fav thing about AC5 is the fact they added new functionality and mechanics that were much more refined in AC6. ACFA will always be my fav but AC6 was close. In AC6, they slowed down the ACs but not too much. you can still be pretty zippy with some light builds but it definitely feels more smooth and natural. I also like having the OPTION to opt for back weapons or use your back slots for secondary weapons to swap on the fly. Some of my builds where i put a secondary instead of a back weapon are really fun. Bullet ricocheted is a fun mechanic just for difficulty and build planning sake. Now, all of this was pretty bad in AC5 but im glad they didnt give up on these changes and features because they feel really good in AC6. I really hope gen 6 gets 2 games.
Its funny how from Gen 1-3.5 the quality of the games+expanded sequels were usually on par in terms of quality. Then going into gens 4 and 5, you have the base game thats absolutely terrible and then the expanded sequel for each one that are considered some of the best in the whole series.
After playing AC6, it got me to play through Elden Ring and majority of the DS Series. i played 1-4 but never 5. So im curious on what i missed with Gen 5.
Would love in Armored Core 6 as a DLC to hear Chief/Hanged-Man/The-Foundation and for them to reappear and reveal AC 6 is distantly apart of the timeline. I would generally love AC 6 to have some sort of DLC to reveal that it was all 1 timeline all along. lol
@@MalcadorGaming Yeah, that's fair I suppose. It seems AC 6 taking place far enough into the future where space travel is seemingly somewhat easy given how large the PCA satellite alone is supposed to be most of that stuff has prolly been totally reclaimed.
I got into this series when it was dead because a deceased youtuber on Game Theory made a fundamental breakdown of the older series with 5 being my first AC game I played thinking this was a PS1/PS2 series that never reached the PS3. I had fun with it until the 3rd story mission with the 2.0 version to the train boss from the last mission(which goes for every boss fight with a 2.0 showing up the following mission). And I hated the antagonist for being a creation that loves to do chaos with no real motive for the player to want to fight him aside from just hating him(which kind of makes the player seem pathetic if the reason why we changed sides to fight the rebels was due to him insulting us in the first mission). Meanwhile the Order missions(imo isn't 83 since you might as well subtract the AC vs AC missions since that might as well be the arena fights) goes into Rosary's origin with the family she left along with a Human+ squad being lead by an AI to fight the player(with Verdic Day making that a bigger focus). I found that more palatable since we aren't placed on a pedestal of being the best with no real feeling of how since the order missions feel post story mission instead of having any narrative purpose through out the story mission.
The game could be bad designed BUUUT the Lore is one of the best from Armored Core saga.Enviroment, storytelling, etc are PERFECTION here. And the soundtrack is one of the best too. A perfect combination between military marchs and tec music
To be honest I hope whatever is next takes a bit from every game. FA Plot structure, VD mp bosses, the traditional hard mode options. 6 is a great base technologically it just needs a little bit more depth. Definitely a good starting point for a new gen tho
11:14 Don't forget that Armored Core 2 follows on from the PS1 games, where the corps in AC2 find the Mars terraforming projects from the corps destroyed in AC1, and a few remnants of the Human Plus project. Appreciate the vid! Never had the chance to play Verdict Day before everything shut down.
V and VD - is completely underrated because it takes brains to play the game properly. At a high level both time spent playing and pvp the game is in fact another whole game once you get to that high caliber. We saw some of it in your video fighting the black glint. Once you get used to switching to scan and combat mode your practically OB the entire time V teaches you about it and they made it more user friendly giving players more energy capacity in VD because VD in general had bigger maps more travel. When V and VD were new it allowed party chat to ps3 when you didnt have that capability and was super lit playing conquest and competitive pvp
I like the theory that Father is Strayed from AC4A. After decimating the world, he seats himself as leader to ensure people dont try to repeat the "mistakes" of the past. Also would explain why he pilots a Next.
Verdict Day is amazing and makes up for everything related to V. V has a banging soundtrack though. Also the slower pace was cool because it felt more like gen1-3. For Answer ruined people's perception of Armored Core, it was never meant to be a fast speed airborne anime fight in the skies type series.
I don't necessarily think the perception was changed. I view the series like final fantasy where most games are going to be different and not for everyone
I absolutely LOVED the Armored Core 5 games some of my favorite From games. Sorry to me this was the most strategically based Armored Core of all time and the multiplayer was awesome. Wish I could do 5v5 PvP in Armored Core 6
Armored core 5 required you to jump up a building to get height to be able to "fly" you could technically get a build that would stay airborn. Was just a pain in the ass to get to that point.
going to actually hard disagree on destroy being canon for 4A. while the cradle does look destroyed, that doesn't discount some sort of failure during the crash landing during ORCA. that, the space station workshop having normals flying outside, the fact that the towers are implied to be what the League used to go to space (and their lack of an appearance during 4A), and forgotten day basically saying that carol and chief were created by those in power during the last age (the League) to find a solution to humanity and left behind, pretty much all points to ORCA as being the canon ending. if destroy were canon, carol and chief wouldn't exist and there would be no space station or towers.
I remember I bought AC4 For Answer, and when it arrived it was for xbox360 and I owned a ps3. instead of returning it, I gave it to a friend as a gift, and when he got it, he was like "I'm not really into mech games, not sure if I will play this much" and then a couple months later when we where at a party, he was like "OMFG dude thank you for giving me that game, IT IS ALL I PLAY NOW! I spend more time MAKING MY mechs, painting them, and testing them out as I do playing the missions!" That is EXACTLY why i love mech games! Making the mech, IS THE game, the missions, and "gameplay" is just extra stuff lol
hated the main reticle UI. The bars lie, and the number do show up but only while a weapon is being fired, and its so small you can;t really see it. they made it such an awful mess because they wanted you to need scan mode.
What I like about the ending is that you beating a Next with a Normal spits in the face of the world being hopeless as a Next should outclass a normal in every way
I’m watching this video again, and I just realized the gameplay looks REALLY similar to Daemon X Machina…. The movement and camera angles especially so.
Regarding RD, ACV still uses the implicit narrative technique of FROM Software. There are various indications that RD is the company's informant, and the so-called "foreknowledge of danger" may be because he leaked information about the resistance to the company, but he did not expect that the protagonist group not only did not flinch, but became more courageous. So he couldn't stand it anymore and became stay salty
Surprised you didn’t mention how the Spirit of Motherwill fight had a remixed version of its theme from AC:FA, which goes even harder than the original.
Ac6 is one of the best games I've ever played. Easiest 10 I ever gave. A full experience. 3 Playthroughs. Multiple S ranks. I used auto rifles (apparently they were the weakest arc-type lmfao). It was so fun!!
Great video. Here's my short answer to the story: In Armored core 4, corporations become too powerful and use machines that pollute the world and make it inhabitable. In AC:FA the rich people escape the earth for the cosmos using the Towers, the ones that didn't launch hold plenty of weapons. Before leaving the rich people made a huge AI network supercomputer and told it to make humanity stop fighting and then left without care. In AC5 the AIs from the supercomputer become more rogue and instead just make humanity mess around and they just make sure humanity isn't wiped out, until a man called isaac meets one of the AIs and they let him become a computerised/digitised human and work for them. Isaac basically wants to see humanity all die because everyone in his home was killed by kojima radiation. In AC:VD isaac becomes the foundation spokesperson and basically tries to escalate humanity into constant war.
I kinda feel like the obstructed visuals on ACV is really cool, might be annoying but cool, imagine if that's a thing in AC6 as a custom mode or something Last game I played that have obstructed visual like that is Nier Automata, and when it happened it's a tense situation
You should play these games. Playing bad games gives you perspective. Like listening to music through average speakers as opposed to only listening to music through high end audiophile speakers. You may also find that some games are actually fun or that some music sounds better through lower end speakers
Honestly I would say try them if they were easier and more affordable to get working for the general public. They are most definitely not worth buying a console for imo
@@MalcadorGaming I mean with most games being almost if not over 20 years or older and unavailable for purchase? Just say emulate them if costs are a concern.
You might also find out that the fanbase for them is toxic and that they talk down to and insult people who don't like what is essentially the Armored Core version of Dark Souls 2, while also talking smack about the games people actually like (AC4/FA and AC6) and those who enjoy them.
Great video. I actually enjoyed V quite a lot for its extra-lengthy Story Missions alone. Not that the story itself was overly awesome or making much damn sense, but just the fact that you got checkpoints and workshop opportunities (and really needed to learn & attack many of the maps strategically, especially if striving to minimize workshop visits) made it stand far apart from any other Old Gen game. Unique moments like getting charged with the Mass Blade in the city underground was amazing. I was actually quite disappointed that VD removed the checkpoints & in-mission workshops, so even though I really like both 5th Gen, I liked V a little bit better overall for how much of a departure it truly was.
1:01:30 Fatman: "You're not right in the head." J: "What is wrong with that?" *turns off comm and starts crying* "Why did the Elderly Ex-Pilot's words feel like live bullets!?"
I'm 27 seconds into this video and I'm gonna comment right now to say, "ACV? Meh. ACVD? Easily one of the best Mecha games of all time and because I like Mecha games, one of my favorite games ever." And playing ACV as an intro to ACVD is basically like playing the tutorial in Half-Life; it's not great on its own, but it sets you up for something glorious. Now I'mma sit here for the next hour and see if you appreciate that fact, or if you're just a smooth-brained hater. Game on.
I thought overall the setup was just OK, it's interesting to see where the fsctions came from and the remnants of the city once but honestly it didn't feel too great. You could totally just do vd and I don't really think you'd miss much
@@MalcadorGaming "You could totally just do vd and I don't really think you'd miss much" Truth. Honestly the best part about ACV is that it lets you start ACVD with all of the old parts if you import an A ranked save. But you can also just buy the "battle damaged" parts DLC for ACVD and get the entire parts library for like, $5, instead of needing an entirely separate game.
@@joewas2225 It's entirely dependent on the person. AC games are frequently VERY different from each other, even within the same generation, and what one person likes is gonna be dramatically different than someone else, a fact that can hugely change *which* of the more than a dozen of these games in particular that you actually prefer. The 5th gen games have a gritty realism aesthetic that's decidedly less Gundam-esque than some of their other entries, and personally, I much prefer that. Like, playing AC4 PvP competitively during the summer after it came out will always be a highlight of the series for me, but the vibe of ACVD is just everything I want from a Mecha game. It single-handedly saved me from the money pit that was my MWO addiction, and that's including the fact that I bought two entire PS3s in the process. But to each their own, you know what I mean? Some people _like_ Last Raven. You're allowed to be wrong.
i'd say that in regards to the writing for acv: i don't think it's supposed to be light hearted fluffy anime dialogue, so much as _rosary specifically_ behaving like a psycho, and everyone around her hating her.
The one thing that I want from 5th gen to future AC series Is the AC design. This version of the AC is the most realistic version of the entire armored core series.
ACV had the strongest opening for me in the franchise. Granted, while I am a long time AC fan i was not able to keep up with the series for the most part, so I only got to play V long after the servers shut down, and didn't even know of the online only aspects of the game until later. That said, while I admit I like some bad games, I honestly find little legitimately bad about V. Some stuff could be better, but between its aesthetic, the best general movement of the series, a re emphasis on legs changing movement after Gen 4, and hands down several of mu favorite levels of any AC game, seeing V being called "the bad one" had been weird for me to see.
If you have a good enough PC, you can emulate it. Unfortunately, conquest-based game modes aren't currently available afaik, and to make things worse, Fromsoft recently announced they will be shutting down the servers for VD around next year, probably at the beginning
@@adhdasdfroflxd123 aww that last part really sucks but, maybe I'll figure out how to get an emulator running. the game is too cool looking to wanna pass up
I used to play the first Armored Core on PS1 when it was in a DEMO Disc. It was a huge DEMO for sure. Allowed customization. 1 Mission I think. And Like I think if I remember correctly it also allowed 2 player split screen multiplayer match. I mean that's a lot for a DEMO back in the day.
My AC journey starter with ninebreaker, only game I had played until recently with 6. It sucks I missed gen 4 and 5 and the good games of gen 3. I think I would've had fun with gen 4 and 5's games. If these ended up being backwards compatible at some stage I'd love yo play them
They did the same thing to AC4, the main game was half finished and the DLC? Spin off? For Answer was the real game. Same with Verdict day, it's 900% better than 5 and actually worth playing.
The fact that this was after AC 4 where technologies were deteriorated from the genocide ending by the Player. People were settled with the slower AC (but its actually just an MT that was improved to be like the First Generation Gundam kind of movement) after what the Kojima Particles did previously. Which explains why it feels more grounded than the previous titles. Intro gave a lot of hints from Tanks to Long range builds (artillery ACs) on what the ACs would be at first gameplay. In all honesty we need another Grounded AC game or a spin off featuring a grunt (like Roach in COD) that can handle like the Ravens but in a weaker mech (the MT)
I grew up playing armored core and while I might not like the latest game that much the other games are still a solid 7/8 out of ten for me I always did like it and always did my best to show support for armored core it honestly hurts me how people have simply cast it aside for so long....

If ever revisit the older games and I do have to say that the old gen games get a unique feel if you adapt to theyre clunky controls that makes you feel like you’re really in the cockpit
Love the super intendant pfp. The sound design in AC6 is so good, easily some of the best sounds I’ve heard in games
I'm glad your getting into ac again, I do reccomend 4 and fa if you wanna try easing into the old gen ad they will be more familiar
Ironically V and 4 were the ones that got me into this series. V more then 4.
Honestly understandable
It has been announced that on March 23rd of 2024, Armored Core Verdict day will shut down its servers. The Verdict War that has lasted a decade will finally end, and we will see the answer that the countless ravens, who have lived as they pleased and died senseless deaths, have chosen.
Rip
I have a confession to make: I hear Mechanized Memories in my head whenever I get into a boss fight against a robotic enemy over twice my characters size.
People can have whatever opinions they want about Gen 5, but I refuse to believe the J fight wasn't the perfect sendoff for AC until 6 revived AC from the grave.
Alright so...Sorry to be critical but: This is isn't the only example of a cross generation continuation of the franchise...indeed gen 1-2 are the same universe, and gen 3 is usually split into two series (3 and 3.5 due to massive changes in its overall design.)
Indeed, the main antagonist of AC2 is all but confirmed to be the Protagonist of Master of Arena.
Yea that's mb, for some reason I remembered them not being cross gen. I just haven't played in forever
ACV's novelty was the online multiplayer, it was essentially a beta-test for AC Verdict Day.
I honestly like the David v Goliath style Final Boss of Verdict Day
Here you are, a Merc with basically souped up Normals pretending to be an AC, taking down what basically is the amalgamation of everything the NEXT era has to offer... Albeit rudimentarily
Its a badass fight.
It shows that... There is still hope for a future.
Even if it took a junk with an Ace to acheive it.
Glad you enjoy VD. Its clearly an underdog.
P.S: Off topic, but apparently the newest Raid Boss in Blue Archive is basically an Armored Core xD
*Someone at NAT Games clearly is a Raven*
Normal are AC btw
i still think thematically vd boss is probably the best in the series
Ah yeah Gerbera looks like those bird enemies in VD
bro really called Normals a pretend AC, this guy is funny as hell. Guess EVERY car before a Tesla is an ATV pretending to be a car?
@@watch.v-dQw4w9WgXcQ Every hybrid before teslas are pretending to be teslas.
I do feel that ac6's scan pulses handle the scanning for enemies concept better
lol 4 centuries pass and the Blackhawk and Apache helicopters are still in-use
I completely forgot to mention that and still don't understand how that makes any sense

Even tho gen 5 is in the future, humanity hit a technological dark age and lost alot of tech from FA era, thats why they still use that kind of armament.
I mean, the m2 has been in service for 105 years 😂 the A10 is nearing 50 years, the huey is nearing 80 years
It's comical, but the age of those designs are likely why they're still in use.
The rock paper siccor crap was so annoying, and the characters were just so annoying in 5
UNACs are originally from Formula Front tho.
ACV and Verdict Day had issues, but if you can overcome those issue theres is a solid game underneath.
hey so quick note to anyone here whos wanting a quick skim, ac5 is primarily a multiplayer game, and while verdict day still has online, its has several features geared for single player. so now that the servers are down, verdict day is almost just objectively better than 5
i still enjoyed 5 a lot, even if the story missions are very much made for coop and a bit bs playing solo (and the final ultimate weapon is a pain and a half to acquire).
really the worst part of 5 is that about half the content is multiplayer locked
Verdict Day's online features are being shut down in 100 days, and V has plenty of Singleplayer content within the game. The story missions were not intended to be played in exclusively co-op, you can make more of an argument about VD's missions being tuned for that moreso than V's.
And I was Introduced to AC by the demo disc in 1998 with my first ps1
V was my first AC game, and then I got Verdict Day. When 6 came out, and I saw all the whining about the game being too hard, the game not having i-frames when dodging, and people not even being able to beat the first boss, I just laughed. As a veteran from the war against the Zodiacs, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The first two bosses in 6, weren't even that bad. They probably wouldn't ever be able to conquer the Smart Cleaner.
I would argue V is worth playing just because Chief is a goldmine of a villain.
He's certainly fun
Omg chief is amazing
It’s not forgotten. It’s just been completed and everyone is satisfied. That’s what a good game does. I don’t need subway surfers at the bottom 24/7 to be happy
Gen 5 was amazing
People just approached it expecting AC4A 2 and walked away making up a bunch of crazy myths about it when it turned out to be its own thing.
When people say gen 5 sucks because it's 'too slow and grounded', I say BUILD A LIGHT AND AERIAL AC THEN
This isn't AC4A where every build from a light stickbug RJ through to a bulky tank all spend 90% of the mission in the air.
Builds actually affect gameplay in gen 5 and if you want to go fast then you just build for going fast.
Chrome hounds did it better.
Chrome hounds is by far 1 of the greatest Armored Core games, and yes, it is related to Armored Core as ACV shows the Hounds in the intro
My issue wasn't that ACV and VD weren't like AC4A, when FROM said they were going back to their roots, I was expecting things to go back to a more 3rd Gen style of gameplay, and V and VD did neither.
When people don't like 5th gen, it's usually just because they're bad.
I'mma keep it real with you, AC5/VD are the Armored Core equivalent of Dark Souls 2.
the arm being blown off is exclusive to the grind blade
That makes me sad tbh
To me ACV and VD were the best games I ve ever played, the reason is the multiplayer though. The single player on both was solid, but it simply doesnt force the player to even use, if I m generous, 4% of the gameplay depth those games offer.
Honestly nothing wrong with that opinion at all. Personally couldn't stand the game but I totally get why you'd like it
Absolutely it was amazing
ayo, i never notice fatman was singing dirty worker
You’re tripping with a title like this
I agree, I didn't like 5 as much as 4 and 4A but the pvp and a lot of weapons were interesting. I wish was carried over into AC6 especially flares
my first AC game was Last Raven.

I highly recommend vd if you loved those games. Even ignoring 5 it's a great experience
my fav thing about AC5 is the fact they added new functionality and mechanics that were much more refined in AC6.
Then going into gens 4 and 5, you have the base game thats absolutely terrible and then the expanded sequel for each one that are considered some of the best in the whole series.
the sequels being amazing is something i hope carries over into 6s
But... I liked AC5.
How dare you have a perfectly valid opinion, banned and reported
16:20 I always just assumed that kneel was your pilot making last second adjustments so that they could eject from their AC

The trailer goes harder than it should have, I do wish verdict day had one tho
Fun Fact: You can see the wreckage of Spirit of Motherwill in the background of the N-WGIX fight.
After playing AC6, it got me to play through Elden Ring and majority of the DS Series. i played 1-4 but never 5. So im curious on what i missed with Gen 5.
Honestly not much sadly, I would give at least vd a chance if you ever get the time and are committed to the series
I'd say play 5. Its was such a fun experience . especially how large the maps were as opposed to vd
Definitely get into 5 it's so much fun don't listen to this soy boy lol
Would love in Armored Core 6 as a DLC to hear Chief/Hanged-Man/The-Foundation and for them to reappear and reveal AC 6 is distantly apart of the timeline. I would generally love AC 6 to have some sort of DLC to reveal that it was all 1 timeline all along. lol
It would be interesting but idk how it would work, the corporation at least should be gone and the foundation lost pretty much everything
@@MalcadorGaming Yeah, that's fair I suppose. It seems AC 6 taking place far enough into the future where space travel is seemingly somewhat easy given how large the PCA satellite alone is supposed to be most of that stuff has prolly been totally reclaimed.
I can see Armored Core 6 take place thousands of years after For Answers ORCA Route.

I love ACV. In fact there’s so much 6 could learn from it like flash and ani missiles and more than 3 non standard leg types…
To be honest I hope whatever is next takes a bit from every game. FA Plot structure, VD mp bosses, the traditional hard mode options. 6 is a great base technologically it just needs a little bit more depth. Definitely a good starting point for a new gen tho
Maybe more functionalities for head parts and part gimmicks like anti-missile cores.
V was my intro into the series, and I fell in love with the mech design and the atmosphere. Will always be a nostalgic favorite

Kinda miss the days where every game sorta resembled the Iraq/Afghanistan war lol
It was definitely an interesting time in gaming
Bloodborne Kart is made by Lilith Walker /PSX Bunlith / B0ster, a very small indie dev. Not actually From Software.

I spend more time MAKING MY mechs, painting them, and testing them out as I do playing the missions!"
That is EXACTLY why i love mech games!
What I like about the ending is that you beating a Next with a Normal spits in the face of the world being hopeless as a Next should outclass a normal in every way
its soo awesome

There are various indications that RD is the company's informant, and the so-called "foreknowledge of danger" may be because he leaked information about the resistance to the company, but he did not expect that the protagonist group not only did not flinch, but became more courageous. Great video.
Here's my short answer to the story:
In Armored core 4, corporations become too powerful and use machines that pollute the world and make it inhabitable.
I kinda feel like the obstructed visuals on ACV is really cool, might be annoying but cool, imagine if that's a thing in AC6 as a custom mode or something

Truth. Honestly the best part about ACV is that it lets you start ACVD with all of the old parts if you import an A ranked save. But you can also just buy the "battle damaged" parts DLC for ACVD and get the entire parts library for like, $5, instead of needing an entirely separate game.

V & VD are the absolute worst Armored Core games. This is coming from an Armored Core Veteran.
I did not expect a punishing gray raven reference here.
It was my first gacha I went hard on!
The one thing that I want from 5th gen to future AC series
Is the AC design.
This version of the AC is the most realistic version of the entire armored core series.
The hunched over looks is actually quite a nice design choice. They probably won't go back to it but I'd like the philosophy to come back in some way
It surely helps that Verdict Day's main antagonist leader has that Liquid Snake vibe.
I’ll likely never get the chance at playing Verdict Day, but it’s good enough to appreciate it for the work of art that it stands as.
It's unfortunate thats the case but it's good to appreciate it indeed

My AC journey starter with ninebreaker, only game I had played until recently with 6. It sucks I missed gen 4 and 5 and the good games of gen 3. I think I would've had fun with gen 4 and 5's games. If these ended up being backwards compatible at some stage I'd love yo play them
I hope one day they are ported to modern consoles and pc in some way. The split from soft recently had makes me hopeful this may happen one day
They did the same thing to AC4, the main game was half finished and the DLC?
Playing as an Mt would be a great experience I think. Maybe not a full game but at least as dlc

[COMPARTMENTALIZING TRAUMA]
Seriously though when 1000 cycles came on I got emotional whiplash.
didnt realize you arent such a big youtuber. this is really good man, you should be proud.
I grew up playing armored core and while I might not like the latest game that much the other games are still a solid 7/8 out of ten for me I always did like it and always did my best to show support for armored core it honestly hurts me how people have simply cast it aside for so long....
It's sad to see indeed but it's nice to see people getting interested in the older games and the franchise in general
@@MalcadorGaming from software change the game a lot to appeal to their current fan base and while I disagree with that immensely on so many different levels it brings me joy to see another armored core game regardless even if I don't even enjoy playing it that much I'm happy that everyone finally is giving it some attention I just hope what I loved about the series has time to shine
