  • Immortal Technique Reaction Dance With The Devil is the greatest song Iv'e ever heard!! I can't believe I missed out on the song. However I'm happy I got to it now with a better understanding of life. The story telling, lyrics, voice of the artist, and the instrumental were all in sync. This is a masterpiece!

      I'm going to recommend an odd song, but an odd artist. It's a bit in the folk song theme. It "Pretty Little One" by Steve Martin... It's simular, yet completely different. Lol I know that statement lacks logic, but even if you don't do a reaction, I think you will understand once you hear it.

    So basically, when he got locked up he met a dude who told him this story and why he got locked up, he re told that story in that mans shoes.

    • @AceofDlamonds
      @AceofDlamonds 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Tech is inconsistent with how he tells the story. The way I heard it, the guy he met in prison was in because they couldn't find an alleged rapist so they killed his son so they could catch him at the funeral. "Hood justice" taken too far. And he used that as inspiration i guess. But the story is completely different.

    • @PWARLOL
      @PWARLOL หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@AceofDlamonds In another interview he says it is a hood ghost story, depending on who tells it, the victim is a sister or an aunt or a friend etc, this is just his rendition of it.

    I used to be a total metalhead, listened to nothing but death metal and deathcore until I met some friends back when I was like 18 or 19 and they showed me this song. It's hard to put into words what this song makes you think, you did a great job explaining things as you perceive them.
    My personal devil is my addiction to alcohol. Here's something I wrote while I was locked up last year because of alcohol. "I fill up my cup, I fill up my liver. Drown out my heart, make believe that it's alright to dance with my demons. The devil's slow dance. Step by step, I stumble down the stairs towards Hell."
    Just a bit of a whole poem I wrote about my addiction, but when I wrote this I totally forgot about this song and didn't even connect the two until just now. Still going strong in my recovery, almost 8 months clean! 💪

I would start with the fourth branch of the government and his song with Chuck D and Brother Ali. If you want deep lyrics filled with Truth, and poetry.... P.S. this is his darkest and most controversial song. Kind of his "Stan".

    One of my favorite lines is right after the mother reveal - "And he remembered how his mom used to come home late
    . Working hard for nothing, 'cause now what was he worth." - Billy was now a disgusting and worthless worm of a person, so all her hard work trying to provide for him growing up, was a complete waste.
    Also the part where he says he was there and participated, is meant to show that we all have good/bad or angels/demons inside of us. People keep their demon's hidden, so you never know who is standing next to you, or in the crowd at a show ... it could very well be a monster.

It worked great for me, as I was still able to carry out my normal life working, whereas rehab I would have had to take time off and/or possibly quit depending on the time needed. I was mentally strong enough to deal with it on my own, but I highly suggest rehab for everyone, as they offer an escape, doctors, and psychiatric help and so on. Choose the path that works for you. I wish all those who are struggling the best, and stay strong!

    You're very intelligent. A lot of reactors don't see the point of this song. It's Tech's way of telling minorities to treat woman better and to not let greed run your life. It has to be dark, it has too rattle your core, it's the only way to send the message home that the cycle will never break if POC (his words, not mine) keep treating their greatest asset like shit. That asset being woman. You understood every bar, but I think you missed the part where Tech says his mom stopped doing drugs and starting working long hours. "She put the pipe down, but for every year she was sober, her sons heart simultaneously grew colder."

    So i heard this song over a decade ago. it reminded me of the hood where i grew up... so one day i get my Brother Billy and put this song on for him and just watch.. he was all up and in it jamming to it.. then bam the twist and the shock on his face... I think he finally saw his lifestyle for what it was he slowly changed from there... eventually he lost his war to his inner demons (rip porky piomp)....... this song is beast... I have played this for many wanna be gangstas over the years and it works.... ImTech is one of the best at what he does.... and he has NEVER SOLD OUT

    This is what I grew up with, story telling rap. This sounds like something Nas would've put out.This is a reality not many live or even know about. I've been in the life before and I've seen and heard some of the most outlandish shit you can't ever imagine and this song resonates with me cause I knew a kid from New York that used to run in a street gang. They ran the streets getting into all kinds of shit drugs, robbery, turf wars, murder, all kinds of dirt. One of their things to do was grab women off the street take them up on a roof top and rape them,probably killed some of them too. He was good with it until one night they grabbed a woman took her to the roof and all of them had their turn with her until it came to be his turn, then he started on her when he looked down and realized it was his mother. Last I heard he was put in a mental institution after that. The streets are filled with stories like this and many other horrors.

    It is really nice to see a smart young guy really understanding the essence of this 20 year old song. Lots of of peeps been click bating on the "I raped her too". Anyone who has some knowledge of storytelling and lyricism knows that this is a masterpiece. A Whole book in a rap song. And that shit is real even where i come from. but people that are reacting and think he litterally was there didnt listen to the lyrics and doesnt know what storytelling is about. But bi ups to you youngin.
