The footage from the Autel EVO 2 looks so crisp and amazing. Definatly persuaded me to get the Autel. The mavic 3 for what it is is just too overpriced.
One more - battery %, Signal strength etc are found by a)tapping top status bar - more Signal detail, and b) swipe from left - an entire status section fir preflight, remote/drone battery % etc. You should fly it more, Ed. It's got issues, but still a brilliant drone. Wish I had traded for Enterprise model - it was only $200 more than my Rugged kit, extra battery and smart controller, now it $800 more, price hike! 😢
Autel white balance is miles off. It gives a massive magenta or blue tint. Even in 'Sunshine' mode, which should be pretty easy to nail, its not even close to accurate. By far my biggest complaint about the Autel. I've been using it professionally for over a year, and it's a nightmare to get it looking color accurate in post.
I don't think it's just white balance. Autel colours are just not great IMO. I own both currently. Geofencing is my pet peeve with DJI. Colours with Autel. 😢
I have autel evo 2 as well and colours there are not natural, sometimes i have inpresion that my footeg is a cartoon. Even if i do little bit of saturation.
@@Adrian_G444 You can grade it fine in software, anyone buying a drone that is too lazy to do color correction should strap a better camera to the bottom of the drone (even a mini 2 can. with some difficulty, carry a 360 camera or a gopro underneath).
Definately Evo wins. Bear in mind that a lot of people live in NFZ and Autel carries the heavy weapon : NFZ FREE. Thanx for your video. My next buy is definately Evo.
Was the Autel a V1 or V2? One other note - I live in an area that is blanketed by no-fly zones. I find that DJI's geofencing has prevented me from flying within permissible limits (to include not allowing motor start) on more than one occasion, whereas the Autel's does not. Note - I have a Mavic 2 Pro and an Autel Evo II V3.
@@ElevatedVehicles It depends (I've got 5 - add in an Autel Nano+, a DJI Mini 4 Pro and a Yuneec Typhoon H). I prefer DJI's optical performance - especially for spherical panoramas - but it I can't fly them, the performance edge is moot.

Everything I'm reading seems to edge DJI out on auto pilot / auto tracking but I haven't heard from Autel owners how they feel on this particular subject.

Great video, and I loved the location. I have both these drones also, and enjoy flying and capturing video on both of them. But as you said the Mavic 3 is much faster in normal mode, and the auto exposure and auto white balance is a bit different as well. It was nice to Sean in the video, he is a great guy. I have M3, some things that bother me: Stop video to take photos, it's very annoying, it doesn't make sense to have 2 different buttons on the controller and still have to stop video for a photo. Flight of only 35 minutes maximum and advertising of 45. And the signal of 15km cannot be good at 3km in the city.
I am in China at the moment, and I noticed on JD and Taobao, most Chinese aren't buying these drones. Many are buying from diffo companies you've never heard of. It's strange.

I don't recall the stock difference, but I know the Mavic 3's yaw sensitivity can be adjusted and I think the EVO 2 can as well. I don't have the EVO 2 anymore to test.
I have these 2. Very different animals, both great in almost completely different ways. DJI scores with autonomous flight modes that work nearly flawless, Autel with Mission flights, sharp video considering the smaller sensor. Smart Controller vs RC Pro goes to DJI, AUTEL has that beautiful 2000 nits brightness, but it's huge, heavy and poor file management. You literally are back to pulling SD cards and putting them in the PC.. DJI auto uploads to my One Drive. Which would I give up? NEITHER! Not for anything else out there.

Great comparison video! While the Autel looks a lot more crisp to me, there's something about the Mavic that looks more cinematic. I'm not a videographer, but could someone please explain why that is? How hard would you say adjusting the colors in post production would be for the Autel? I liked it's color in some of the shots, but I think the Mavic did better in others.
Both can capture raw and be colour adjusted, the camera's are extremely similar and if you took two photo's raw and dolled them up in software post flight you wouldn't tell the difference. I own DJI drones and work with Autel RTK drones for mapping (EVO 2 V3 work drone that supports attachments, cheaper and better then DJI's offering for RTK). Biggest problem is they are made in China and DJI actually has links with the government via other companies. At the end of the day both are crappy Chinese drones, even the inspire at 17K is a crappy Chinese drone with an decent 8K camera. You can do a movie on it but it isn't a professional drone that a big money sport league, major studio or big surveying company is even going to worry to look at if they know their oats. Basically these are plastic toys with poor sensors, poor motors and a decent camera.

Yea, if somebody wants that color tint in the mavic, he/she can switch off the auto exposure and white balance and can adjust it according to his own will
Autel couldn't fix the sudden gimbal movement (what DJI calls "smoothness", so they massively scaled it down where 75% full speed is what ZERO was before. You can make it move 1° over 10 MINUTES. Not perfect but good... they (Autel) have done ONE update to the Smart Controller. And promised Android features never materialized (yet... but I'm talking since June 2021. Don't hold your breath for HD photo transfer, indoor mode or time shift -always buffering so you get the PREVIOUS 30 Seconds - brilliant if you miss something while flying. They pretty much moved on when the consumer pair came along, they are just too small and spread too thin. A shame, really, with so much potential!
The Alltel Evo has more of a bluish color with the whites. I do like the color better than the DJI, but as far as being polished, and a lot of features, DJI, rules

I just had an E2PV2 with only 20 hours on it during a smart orbit at 360 altitude and 1600 ft VLOS disconnect from the controller. The drone departed the orbit trajectory, did not RTH, and crashed into the side of a mountain. Autel is honoring the warranty. I was also insured. I will NOT let them send me another V2! I will either upgrade to a V3 or get a DJI. The problem with DJI is I live in a highly geofenced area and people I know with DJI get locked out even when they should not. Geofencing is a real pain in the you know where! In retrospect, the V2 came about during COVID when Autel could not get the chips. I think Autel photos and video unedited are pretty remarkable. But it is my understanding that in terms of flight characteristics and the kind of problem I had, DJI is ahead. That is what I have heard. I have no experience with DJI personally.
The E2PV1 was a beast, I loved that drone and was sad when it died 80ft above my truck and was replaced with a V2. My 8" CrystalSky Ultra stopped working w/the V2 controller and Autel doesnt care to support it. I have not had issues with my V2 though, took it to Colorado and climbed many mountains with it to grab some wonderful shots. I used to own DJI Platinium, M2P, M2Z, and sold them. I do own a Air 2 for when I need something smaller. DJI does have the "software" nailed down and its more reliable. The autel evo ll pro is actually quite big and bulky even after been folded. Also the interface of DJI FLY is much better than Autel's App.. regarding the colour science, you can change it easily because its on auto exposure and auto white-balance. Overall Mavic 3 is better in my opinion
The amount of pixels contained in each is the height multiplied by the width. So 5.4k as shown in this video has over 15 million pixels. 6k, depending on aspect ratio, could contain as much as 20 million. Where do you get only 2 pixels from?
The Evo wins on video definition and image quality! Game over! The Mavic 3 has an unatural colors. Just color corrected that you can mimic the same thing in AE. Amazing how the DJI marketing does. Nothing else from Hasselblad technology besides the color graded. And the print Hasselblad name on the camera. Hasselblad is a small company is is well known for the super definition their cameras produces in witch Mavic 3 does not have.
Now that the EVO II gimbal is more sensitive, it's one of my favorite drones again. I was going to sell it until I learned the gimbal was fixed. Now I guess I'll keep it!
@@EdRickerVlogs Remember this! The most import part of any photography beside great compositions are the image definition. The Evo II Pro and even the Nano + has more definition than the Mavic 3. Why definition is important? Because it opens the door for many media formats. Just like printing, the higher DPI in term of details the better for interactive Applications, Visual FX, etc in video productions. Another important thing to duscuss is customer service. Autels customer service is much better than DJI! Keep that in mind.
Never own Evo .. looking for it soon... but for fun, camping, mini 4 was my choice.. 👍
