Same here……. I have a bunch of DJI drones and detest the Nanny State Geofencing .
I modified my Air-2s last year using drone-hacks and now have a device capable of no NFZ lockouts and zero altitude limitation.
I’d do the same for my Mavic-3, but they haven’t come up with a patch yet.
So…. I carry both when I can. “Just in case”.

Thanks for the quick overview. Once this is available for the nano and lite I will probably pick one up. One concern I have is with the magnetic battery. How secure is it in the slot? I am concerned that if it gets bumped during a flight the battery will slide out just enough to lose contact and then the RC will reboot and lose connection with the drone. It looked very easy for you to slide it out but maybe it is more secure than it appears. Any thoughts?

  • @SilverStarHeggisist

It would seem that in applications where the device is a singular device, such as this where it's a controller for a specific drone and it exists to run only one application and do only 1 thing.
The computing and ram specs become not that important. Rather so long as it has what it needs for that one task, it would seem there's no reason to spend extra to have more.
As opposed to something multi purpose like a phone

Is there a way to replace the autel app that is pre installed? The bootloader is factory unlocked, so is root a possibility? Or is the payload bin file available to download anywhere to extract and patch the boot.img with magisk? Or anything along those lines? @originaldobo I'm a real estate shooter and considering adding a v3 to my kit. -Still rocking an Air 2 which is great for 75% of what I do, but some clients add-on drone on-site or I upsell and end up looking like a joke if my drone is land locked. -I now always check Air Control before opening my dumb mouth. My question, it seems the old remote had a Precision Intelligent Flight Mode, which appeared to allow for the DJI equivalent of old school tripod mode, if this Intelligent Flight Mode is no longer available on the new v3 SE remote, is there a way to get the same results? Or should someone considering purchasing an Evo II Pro v3 also upgrade the kit remote (SE) for the Smart Control v3?

If I'm not mistaken, this is tri-band 900/2.4/5.8 and while Lite/Lite+ is Tri band its different bands 2.4/5.2/5.8 so that's an issue. Autel is mum on the subject, but how is that ever going to work, short of an old Meatloaf song (2 out of 3 ain't bad) - I submit: it's bad.

Thanks, that is a good RC for the Autel line. Not one for those that do this as a hobby compared to the two in the DJI line, ( read inexpensive vs the pro one). Which in all fairness, is a let down. I bought the Nano + because of the lack of geo fencing to learn flying a drone, and hopefully expand my video and photography taking. Using the RC that came with it makes me think I am in middle school vs the new RC that came with the 3 Pro, big boys school. Had Autel offered one similar in a bundled cost , I would of purchased it. This current controller lacks in charging my iPhone, and lacks a spot to put a lanyard. On the other hand that M 3Pro RC, can be used for the A 2S as well, not needing to deal with a phone. This one you are showing only currently works for the Evo 2 line, seriously Autel, get it together on your strategy. So, buying a line, looking at accessories and thinking about the two main brands, one is polished and the other is playing catch-up. Autel has some great drones, great engineering, yet, once you get past the stuttering Nano, their management thinking and strategy is not so great. They need to stop playing catch up and just work on what their customers need and want, and bring that to fruition, for both the hobby group and pro. Which means I am now looking at the M3Pro, and A2S with one decently priced RC, instead of the Evo Lite+ that I like. Thanks again from a new viewer and you deserve a like for a good review. Btw, I am not a lemming fanboy, as I spend my money on what works for me, not what the brand trending crowd does, cheers.
