I think people should have bought this like yesterday! The utter value on these watches is simply unbeatable and they just don't make them like these anymore. Bracelets are a non-issue since they're easily replaceable and there are plenty of options, and I think it's part of the charm of these pieces. I don't care if they don't go up in monetary value because that's not where my values lie.
So right...beat me writing the same. I wear Rolex and tudor prince day/date through the week. These are such a wonderful joy to switch to, I enjoy the bracelets for what they are. The shake is cute and reminds me of my Omega 1950s bumper automatic. I'm always shocked how little I payed for how fun they are. Splendid!
The SNXS 77 is, in my opinion, the nicest one. The deep blue colour of the dial makes it look beautiful. You always know what time it is because it’s such a pleasure to look at it. This watch has the most value for money of any watch.
I own the same watch in grey dial and I can say this is one of the most attractive watches I've ever bought. And there's nothing wrong with the bracelet, people are just noisy. My Watch is very accurate when it comes to time and the day date display is just perfect. This watch reminds of the Rolex datejust with a extra function of day display which the Rolex doesn't have.
I just bought this watch and it was really helpful to know I can replace this movement when I want to to a NH36. I bought it because I like the simplicity and its charm.
I've owned a Seiko snkl23 for 5yrs now and has been consistently wearing it. Mine pretty scuffed alr but I definitely can tell u that this movement is a workhorse. Extremely accurate, about -+1 second per week. Honestly to me I don't really understand why pay so much for a high end movement. Yes it doesn't have hacking, hand-winding, and less power-reserve compared to higher end ones, this thing is reliable as hell. Never serviced it since I bought mine and it's still going strong good as new
I have to make a small correction about why there's no handwinding feature with these. The Japanese takes pride in their magic lever automatic system, which proved to be highly efficient. Also, they didn't expect collector's like us to have multiple watches--just the one watch. The Seiko 5 line is an everyman's watch. If you wore this everyday, in and out you don't need to worry about losing power, believe me I wore a Seiko 5 for one month and yeah it ran without even needing to shake.
Well, I would suggest observing your daily activity. If you sit in the office all the time, and walk less or don’t engage in activity that allows the rotor to spin and recharge-then yes the watch will soon discharge. If it’s an old watch, the automatic system may not be as efficient anymore, too. But I would take the activity as the culprit. I would recommend you occasionally give your watch a shake (swing left and right) 2 mins max before you go to bed or when you rise.
I had a very similar model in the nineties, and it died because of water. I bought this model snxs 79 and I'm a bit worried about water. It's yours still dry?
I have one on my wrist right now. It's a great watch: stylish, accurate, and reliable. Built in June 1983 and keeps time to a few seconds a day. I need my watch to tell me the time, I don't need to check my emails on it
These watches are tougher than you think. Got mine in 98 working on deep drainage it got covered in concrete in all weathers. I’ve just given it to my son. It loses a minute a week, never been serviced.😊
I recently upgraded an old Seiko 5 (7S36 02J0 from 2011) two tone watch. Its case and matching bracelet was very worn out and the old movement was gaining 5 minutes per day. The dial was its best feature so I put the dial on a new NH36 with luminous day/date wheels and put new hands on it. I then put it into a new SKX style case and it looks really amazing. The new case will help improve the water resistance to about 10-20 ATM with a screw down crown.
I'm late with my response: My Seiko 7006-8040 was purchased new on December 15, 1979 for my ninth birthday. It took me two-in-a half years to save up, which seemed like an eternity at the time and the most expensive gift for myself with the permission from my parents that allowed me to make the purchase. According to the Serial Number my watch was manufactured in May 1975. I am writing this post with the same Seiko on my wrist. The main reason as to why I kept the watch, is that 1) Caliber 7006 19 Jewel movement has a metal date corrector wheel. 2) After 45 years of ownership, my watch still looks brand new. I was able to find the original boxes, with warranty book and extra links, last night.

@@Hektor247yes , that ' s right . But if we don ' t find this size , that is not common , we can get a 20 mm without problem . In case of metal bracelet then yes , must respect a19 mm size .
I’m on the fence on getting this black dial or the white. I already own the gray dial with gold markers and also the gold dial SNXS81 which has been my daily since I’ve acquired it. If the movement fails, you can always get a movement upgrade to the hacking handwinding nh36.
I have had my SNXS79K for a few months now. The bracelet is terrible, that's the first thing I wanted to replace. I bought a rolamy oyster bracelet with center polished links and it's a major upgrade. Using the original end links because the ones the rolamy comes with are too sharp/wierd. Also Pro TIP I saw on a blog, stick a little bit of rolled up clear tape in between the end links and the case to eliminate that rattling sound. This also made a huge difference and made the watch feel much better. I did not feel the need to swap the movement as hacking is not that important to me, the seconds will go back a few seconds by going in reverse when setting the time so you could still set it accurately. The last thing I upgraded or swapped I should say is the caseback. The exhibition caseback is nice, however, this is my second watch so I'm not so attached to that feature. The problem with the exhibition caseback is that it increases the height on your wrist. This was actually a problem for me as it made it harder to adjust to a comfortable size. I bought an old version of this exact watch for cheap just to swap out the solid caseback. It was hard to find but totally worth it if you can find a caseback that will fit this model. Keep in mind it has to give the rotor enough room to move so if you hear scraping sounds it does not fit. After swapping the bracelet, putting some tape in the end links, and swapping the caseback to a solid one, this watch is absolutely amazing! I love it and wear it constantly. My other watch is the SNKL41 which i also upgraded the same bracelet from rolamy along with the tape hack. If you're still reading this and are considering buying an SNXS79, DO IT! It's a beautiful watch.
This has been my daily wear for several years, I shower with it and its fine. Also the hardlex has taken a beating an it hasn't a mark, I replaced the crummy bracelet with a oyster bracelet and even though I look at other watches nothing speaks to me like this grey dial and the excellent lume.
I just picked one of these up in a dealer for £99. It appears identical to the watch in the video except it has pointed hands and the outer edge of the dial is textured. It also has the "5" badge stamped underneath Seiko on the clasp. Although dated, I see this as a modern classic.
