Thank you for the video, my friend! I sincerely appreciate it! I had planned on doing the rear of the fender like you have done, but I definitely needed to get a visual of that front part. I've got some rubber baler belt, from large round hay balers, that I think could serve the same purpose as your corrugated plastic. That's quite clever how you did that, because it extends the coverage by quite a bit. I like it. I appreciate the close up video. I'm a visual learner and need to see things for them to make sense sometimes. I'm a rack convert, for sure and while I don't need fenders on every bike, because it's pretty dry out here, it's definitely going to be nice to have a couple bikes set up with fenders. Thanks again, for the inspiration to get the Big Buck fender set, Josh! I'm going to work on getting it installed later today. Take care, fella! PS. I too rock overalls at times. Nothing wrong with them at all!
Great! I’m glad this was what you needed. One time someone commented on a video of mine “Marlboro Man, is that you?” So I figured I should add a small explanation. Let me know how this works out for you!
This has got to be the deepest fender deep-dive ever, Josh. Love the detail! We had a bondo-buggy when I was a kid. My dad was working on it and I asked hm why fenders were called fenders. He said because they fend off things coming from the wheels. I asked him what fend meant and he shouted to my mom “hey Dolores, tell Mark what fend means”. She just peeked through the door and looked quizzically at me. Guess I stumped the band that day but makes me think of my folks every time I see fenders on a bike…
I had never thought of that. I had always liked that the Europeans called them mudguards since that’s what they are. Now fenders makes a little more sense to me.
For my fat bike, I bought some fenders for a mountain bike and cut them in half lengthwise. I then riveted black plastic between them to make them the right width. Full coverage made a huge difference in slushy conditions.
I've got SKS Velo65s installed permanently on my hardtail commuter. And I've got some removable SKS Raceblades on my road bike. Hands down, the two best cycling accessory purchases I've ever made.
Fickle fender fitment finagle frustration. You can add an additional f-word (or two) in there too. Great solution on the fat bike. When I had the shop in NY, it was pretty common for customers to have me fix their diy fender installations for them. Everyone buys (cheap Amazon) fenders thinking they will just bolt on easy-peasy.

Every bike needs fenders and a rack. It's transport. Loving your work.
Thanks pal. I’m glad to know I’m not alone in my line of thinking.

I have to admit I would have never thought of that.

I have to admit, I think SKS makes a superior fender. I have a set of Bluemels on my beach cruiser.

Maybe I could hire you as my title writer?
Thanks friend. I can imagine how poorly Amazon fenders fit.
