I don't really get this comment, because music is so much more competitive nowadays so being number one is actually more impressive i guess. Or is there something im missing i don't know maybe but to me it seems like it's more impressive nowadays.
Being number one now matters to some people. The older generation didn't like your music and tried to crap on it when you were young and now you return the favor by doing the same to today's youth. Well done.

Agreed. And that goes for Ringo too. Ask any drummer, especially the really famous ones "Was Ringo a good drummer?" and you won't believe how gushing their praise will be.
Plus, most of the those Beatle singles were double-sided hits. They would have had at least 10 more #1's if they hadn't done that. Plus they released albums that had NO singles. Ever heard of Sgt. Pepper, folks? No singles off of it.

Pause has 50+ years of writing, singing, playing. In bands, as a solo artist. Sold millions of singles and albums, when you had to go to a music store to buy them. Had one of the greatest influences on modern music of any individual.
Paul McCartney is the only artist to have a number one in the UK while performing as a solo, a duet, a trio, a quartet, a quintet, a sextet and an ensemble.
Geeezzz,...don’t understand all the hate for Katy here. I’m no fan of her music and have only listened to Paul’s music perhaps, maybe,...only one or two million times. I mean- it's not really the same thing. A huge part of Paul's career consists of the work he's done for the band. So it's really astounding that, on top of having made music's history with the Beatles, he's EVEN had other 24 N.1 singles. What a career- and what an artist
"I've (Katie Perry) already got ten and I've only been going for 5 years" is everything you need to know about how terrible the pop music scene is now.
Curtis Jensen true. Different generation, different competition. If Katy had the same generation with Beatles and many other legends, i don't think she could ever go to #1.
The Lennon & McCartney songs from The Beatles were actually always written by one of those two. For instance "Get Back" was written by McCartney, "Come Together" by Lennon and so on. Mainly the one who sings the song is the one who wrote the song. Many people still don't know this to this day believe it or not.
Not true. You may think that one or the other wrote the bulk of a song they each brought to the table, but John and Paul always had their fingers in each other's pies so to speak. To one of your examples, Come Together may have been written by John, but it was Paul adding the swampy bass line and the catchy drum beat that made the song so unique. They each wrote their own songs, but most of the time the finished product was a creation completed by both of them together (along with George and Ringo sometimes too) that made each song so Beatle-esque.
@@Shanrocks What you are saying applies only in a few cases. In other words that doesn't applies in most of the songs composed by Paul (Let it Be, Hey Jude, The Long And Winding Road, Get Back...and I can continue forever) and the most of the songs composed by John (Across the Universe, All You Need is Love, Revolution, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Tomorrow Never Knows, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Ticket to Ride....and I can continue forever). So actually what you're saying is not true.
@@ernestomartinez4090 the fact that you listed Tomorrow Never Knows as a John Lennon song just goes to show how much you don't realize the depth of collaboration between Lennon and McCartney. (John was literally reading lines from the Tibetan Book of the Dead and the tape loops on TNK are all Paul's). I do agree that there was a lot of songs written on The White Album in particular and the Let It Be album as well in which John's songs were mostly his own, and Paul's were his own creations. But even some of the songs you listed besides TNK like Norwegian Wood, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Ticket to Ride etc, they may have started out as songs John brought to the studio, but they were definitely fully realized and finished as collaborations. Even Hey Jude, which was primarily a Paul song, had input from John, (the line about "the movement you need is on your shoulder" which Paul was going to change) and if Paul hadn't taken John's suggestion it would have ultimately made it a different song, however slight of a change it would have been. So in fact, a lot of their songs were legitimately Lennon/McCartney whether their input on the song was 50/50, 75/25, 90/10 or whatever.

Matthew Worswick Really? On some chart listings the South Pacific soundtrack was number 1 for 70 weeks. In the 60s you didn’t need to sell many copies to get a number 1 album. The Beatles managed to have number 1 albums, but also rewrote the rules about what could be done with an album.

Vitor Rocha tipical comment of a stupid person.you cant give a better answer?
Vitor Rocha lol you need to learn english too stupid
Vitor Rocha keep talking right now katy is more rich.and by the way people like you only say shit look what you read and think
"I had one and im not even a singer" 😂😂😂😂😂 lmao
I love katty Perry and Paul McCartney in this
If Paul McCartney gave a concert where he played all the songs he wrote that were hits and/or popular, it would last about four days.
It's like comparing The SUN with a flashlight!
You mean fleshlight?
She could be a Page 3 girl with those knockers....
Here comes the sun
Wow brillant comment
Haha, I need sleep. I heard that Paul had spent 98 weeks at #1 with a single song 😆
Thoufht, DAMNNNN!!! How have I not heard this song before. Quick google search cleared that up for me, which was then reaffirmed by my watching the clip again🤣👏👏
After re watching this I don’t understand why people think she was dissing Paul? It’s an interview ... they’re just messing around with one another
That teddy boy swagger is still on point.
Jeez, wtfs up with you lot. It's a light hearted show where they all joke about. If they didn't you'd be bored to tears.
Sir paul mccartney is 71 and still awesome!! I think this ep is quite funny, because it includes two really different kind of pop artists, from different generations :p
The man is, along with John Lennon, the most successful AND the most CRITICALLY acclaimed songwriter in history. PERIOD!
WHat you're looking at here is akin to seeing the likes of a Leonardo Da Vinci or an ALbert Einstein. Hands down the best in music history.
Not more influential then Bob Dylan in terms of songwriting though.
@@mokrodog I honestly can't name a single Bob Dylan song.
@@jonlee2286 same but its just obvious he was more influential in songwriting
@@mokrodog The only problem with Bob was his voice...
I can't name even one Perry song. Meanwhile, Paul's songs are still renowned classics for 50+ years.
JPM songs are classics. William with songs like "Fuh you" ? Not so much. For every classics Bill does alot of muzak too.
98 weeks at number one ... OMG
Those three cracked me up. I think it's quite obvious no one tried to be rude, just real fun XD
At the end of the day it's about quality not quantity.macca has both on his side. (End of story).
Start of story. Have you heard Venus and mars? It's shit. And of story.
Grunthos The Flatulent "And" ???
I loved how the audience sang along to Katy's song Raw, it was nice to know they now the song.
Number one albums are more significant.
Matthew Worswick Really? On some chart listings the South Pacific soundtrack was number 1 for 70 weeks. In the 60s you didn’t need to sell many copies to get a number 1 album. On the other hand, neither Pet Sounds nor Dark Side of the Moon were number 1 albums in the UK.
The Beatles managed to have number 1 albums, but also rewrote the rules about what could be done with an album.
Lmao Paul doesn't even know his numbers I love him
When paul walks away he looks younger
I love how Paul is unaware of his own numbers ...
Wow, everyone needs to stop hating Katy Perry because it seems "cool". I'm not a fan of hers, but bad mouthing her because "she's lame and her music sucks because omg Paul McCartney I'm so cool" is not an excuse. I don't give two shits about her music, but I respect her for what she is.
I loved how Katy Perry, literally, crawl for Sir Paul
0:58 no you’ve only sang ten.Theres a difference
When you're # 1 of all time, nothing else matters, there are no comparisons..
Different generation. Different competition. Just remember Beatles has the same generation with MANY legendary artists and somehow Beatles beats them.
if the Beatles started today I doubt they would go to number 1.
@@Fireglo i think they would
One of the only 3 to sell more than 100m records both as a solo artist and with a band
Katy Perry has had 10 number 1 singles.
Now, let's try and name 5 of them.
Hot n Cold, California Gurls, Firework, Roar, and Dark Horse.
Chill people they're having fun
A better comparison would be the number of records or downloads sold. I doubt anyone will come close to that figure whatever it is.
a cheeky hand signal there at the end billy-boy
