To answer Guru Larry's question about whether Vince would patch out a wrestler from the game and get people mad, yes he would and did. 2K22 was going to include a wrestler who was part of a tag team in a DLC pack but when the wrestler's ex posted pics of him doing WW2 Axis forces stuff they removed him from the pack, and many fans were upset because they released the pack with missing content and giving nothing in return

There's still ongoing controversy about WWE letting that guy go. Pro wrestling had a huge cleansing of a lot of weirdos a few years ago, so his ex knew she was throwing him to the wolves in the locker room and to the people taking a glance at this story online.
There are a lot of high profile wrestlers who would likely prefer not to be pulled down into the muck going out on a limb to defend Nash Carter/Zachery Wentz, and to this day the only evidence WWE had to let him go was a dumb joke photo he took midway through a shave when his moustache looked a bit like a certain dictator's.
I don't know the truth of the matter, but WWE brought back/kept on Velveteen Dream, Matt Riddle and Jordan Devlin even with ongoing allegations, and in the case of the former, that came back to really bite them on the ass.

This was all of course before the police reports found out it was a murder/suicide. That one's kinda weird because technically they did rename it because the VC version is the tyson version with a sprite swap, but the original release, the arcade games, the snes game, etc were always "Punch out/super punch out" and never had tyson, and they're older than the NES game. He also wasn't removed for the conviction either, the contract with nintendo expired so they had to remove his likeness to continue selling it. What's odd is that there's an older version of the NES release pre-tyson that has the arcade final boss and they decided to just sprite swap instead of using that version.

College sports are crazy popular in the US. Especially Football and Basketball. I think part of the reason is that Football season is pretty short and their are a fairly limited number of games being played(especially compared to say Baseball, Hockey or Soccer/real football). So really big fans supplement their professional watching with college games as well. Plus the biggest college players often times are the next big players in the NFL and people like to invest in watching a career
At least that’s how I see it. I’m very much a “whatever it’s all sports ball” kinda guy so I find watching it religiously to be tedious.

A lot of it is because college sports in the US (outside of baseball) were the only quality team sports out there into the 1950s, and even once the pro leagues started getting a lot of public respect, they barely did anything in the Midwest and South (you basically have Atlanta, St. Louis, and Kansas City). American college football stadiums are some of the largest-capacity sports complexes in the world.

Regarding Chris Benoit; it should be noted that while he had been abusing steroids for years (though none were found in his system at the time of death) he had severe CTE from years of his finishing move, the diving headbutt, and WWE allowing chair shots to the head before Benoit's murder-suicide. The CTE was so severe that upon a posthumous examination of his brain for research into CTE a neurologist stated that despite being 40 at his time of death his brain was comparable to that of an 85-year old Alzheimer's patient.
This is by no means meant as an excuse to what he did but it is an explanation or at the very least a contributing factor.
Also, although the WWE did try to erase Benoit for years they did ease up on that rule and he is now acknowledged in a historical context and his matches are available on WWE network uncensored and they eventually added him back into the championship record books.

4:35 Patching them out of the game is the exact thing they did. Nash Carter aka Zachary Wentz was planned to be DLC in WWE 2K22, but was cut after his upset and jealous ex-wife posted an image of him doing a Nazi salute with a sharpied on Hitler mustache from 5 years before, causing people to falsely accuse him of anti-semitism, leading to his removal and release from the company. There's also a bit of hypocrisy about his firing and removal from the game, as JBL had done the pose decades before in a Germany house show, where it's illegal to do so, yet he's still in the game, and set to be in the one coming out later this week.
On a side note, I was actually playing WWE SmackDown Vs RAW 2008 before watching this, and I had made a created wrestler of Chris Benoit. Great timing Larry.

In the WWE game that came out towards the end of 2005, there was a storyline involving Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker, that ended with Eddie being slammed into a coffin and the lid being closed. Eddie died not long after the game came out in real life. The next installment of the game had Undertaker feuding with Chris Benoit in a storyline, with Undertaker naturally implying he was going to murder Chris Benoit in his typical, gloomy prose. Chris Benoit would go on to do what he did.
I don't know who Undertaker had storylines with in the following games, but I'm pretty sure there weren't any repeats of these situations. Honestly, the Eddie one was tragic to me. I got hold of the game after he had passed, and was flabbergasted at that storyline.
